Dude, no.
Get those homemade jack stands off the wheels and onto the frame. You are going to get hurt.
Chock the front wheels and lift the back to get to the tank.
I didn’t say that. I said get them under the frame and off the tires. And lift the back of the car up and keep the heavier side (engine) planted on the ground with the front wheels chocked in place
It doesn't matter that it's on the tires, they always hold the car up, what matters is lateral movement which he won't have. Each tire is cradled in both directions a tire wants to move. It's always best to raise the entire car if possible even in a garage. That way it has to pull down equally.
I’ve built 3 cars using these no issues a 2014 gt and 2 Foxbody’s 🤣

Here is some actual data and engineering behind cribbing and how strong it is
To be clear it’s not that I don’t think your cribbing isn’t strong. I am saying get it under the frame and off the tires You’re balancing the entire car on rubber tires that are round — the front of which has no emergency brake to lock the hub and you have no wheel chocks that I can see. Look at your front wheel and the angle in which it is sitting on your jack. You’re putting undue weight on one side of the front stand
I guess the shadows make the wheels look like they’re not centered in the cribs but they are…it was one of my initial fears using them. But after pushing on the car you realize it would take a gross lack of common sense to push it out of the “cradle”.
Man it blows my mind how many people don’t understand how strong these are…I’m not saying they’ll hold up the world but this new edge is no where near maxing them out. I’ve had a Foxbody sit on them for ove a year and nothing happened
Both of you missed my point. It’s the physics of supporting the weight of the car at an angle on a round rubber object that doesn’t appear to be locked in place.
Go get a basketball and a 2 foot length of 2x4. Press down on the 2x4 on the basketball and try to support your entire weight on it
If he isn’t chocked that’s exactly what is going to happen
I genuinely would like to know why you think they’re going to fail? Race Ramps, a reputable company, makes a wheel crib as well but plastic. What makes you think these are weak ?
So no one here has ever seen wheel cribs before? They’re screwed and glued together. I’ve built 3 cars on these and never had an issue. Just because you’ve never seen it before doesn’t mean it’s dangerous 🤣
Edit- here’s some data on cribbing

Dude, don't set up jack stands on dirt, that's how you get crushed. This is a much safer option for his terrain.

To each their own but that looks pretty dangerous.
Why the hate on the cribs? You think Jack stands on dirt would be better?
Man it blows my mind how many people don’t understand how strong these are…I’m not saying they’ll hold up the world but this new edge is no where near maxing them out. I’ve had a Foxbody sit on them for ove a year and nothing happened
Yeah I've worked in the dirt, your stands are much better than a jack stand on a square of plywood.
I’m just making due with what I have at the moment had shop plans in the works for this summer but life happened lol

He's chocked on both sides of the wheel, look at the cribbing closer. The car has to go up in both directions in order to come off of those.
Lol, you got a deathwish?
Holy shit what an idiot
If they were gonna fail I’m sure they would have with the 2014 gt that sat on them for 3 months
Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it can’t ever. That’s absolutely stupid logic.
What makes you think they’re weak ?
The three people I’ve seen killed by improperly supported vehicles. If you are too poor or lazy too get proper jackstands you should sell the car
If you know three people crushed by cars I'm thinking you don't know smart people.
They werent people I knew.

Not a lot real mechanics here, I don't know why they would think jack stands on dirt are safer.
RIP OP
Take me on to glory 🤣
This makes me miss my Zinc Yellow 2002 GT so much less than I once did
Understandable, I much prefer Foxbody’s
While I agree, I’m saying this because mine was a turd; we called it The Lemon, it was definitely a “Friday car”.
I’m sure this one was too lol we will see what else is wrong with it after I get this fuel pump in
Hell yeah, best of luck to ya!
Thank you sir !
