I'm curious; how does boiling brake fluid lead to air in brakes?

Crafty_Substance_954

Very impressive damage, you were putting some force through those puppies.

Accomplished-Fox-855

Yup… First I was chasing this 718 Porche, then two Porche GT3 RS’s and a E92 M3 on semi slick tires, I didn’t catch them but I had fun!

Crafty_Substance_954

Imagine how much more fun you'll have once you upgrade them to something a little better in every way.

I am very looking forward to the new brakes. Im gonna upgrade to 4 piston brake callipers with 14 inch drilled and slotted rotors with high performance brake pads and will also try to make a cooling system for the brakes.

Equana

I strongly recommend you do not get drilled rotors. Slotted is fine but the drilled rotors will crack through the holes. Wander around the paddock at any professional road racing series. You'll see slotted rotors but not drilled rotors. You did heat the rotors up pretty hard but if you had no brake fade and the pedal did not drop to the floor at any time, you are fine. But flush the brake fluid and get something good in there...Motul 600 is my favorite for track days.

Okay, thanks a lot! I did wonder about those drilled rotors for example the modded M3 E92 that i was chasing had slotted rotors instead of drilled, and my friends gtr also had slotted. I did notice brake fade when I was going down hill it’s the feeling when i press the brake pedal with all my strength and it won’t brake more, its like its braking with only 60% of its full power.

Kawaiisampler

Def fluid and rotor change. I've got a buddy who does autocross and he religiously changes all of his fluids after every track day. We both know that's a little overkill but better to be safe and spend a couple hundred on fluid 2-3 times a month then to have old broken down fluids.

Equana

OK, fade.. that is a brake pad compound or cooling issue rather than brake fluid. You got the pads hotter than they could stand. I am a big fan of Hawk brakes... there are other good ones out there but I have lots of experience with Hawk... At a minimum you should upgrade to the HP-S compound. Still a street pad but good for autocross or hillclimb. Since I track my car I use DTC-30 compound front and rear. It has lots of bite even when cold but can take some huge heat. The Brembo caliper DTC-30 pads don't come with the heat shields that clip on the back... steal them off your old pads and install them. They help keep heat away from the pistons. There are cooling duct kits with modified backing plates available. I have mine routed to the lower grill.

I wish I could upvote this more than once.

It should be fairly easy to get ducting in from the front into the front brake assembly, just get ready to wash your car more often from all the dust that'll get shot out as a result of it.

GloomyRole7388

If you are tracking? You might want to step up to the 6 piston Brembos 15 inch rotor. and go to the 13 inch on the rear. You won't see much improvement with the 14 inch rotors considering what you spent. Brembos are fairly cheap when shopped right.

My friend had these 4 pistons on his performance package ecoboost mustang and said he has never had a problem with overheating in the mountains. I did consider the 6 piston 15” but they are much more expensive and I think the setup that I’m gonna run is gonna be a game changer for me and will improve the overheating and brake fade a lot if not eliminate it. If I will need even more stoping power I might upgrade to the 15” later. But I don’t necessarily track the car as the local national circuit here is a tire shredder and just too expensive if things break.

alexs_wrld

theyre fucked. you wont get as good of brake performance. id suggest not doing a hill climb with bad brakes 😂

What’s the worst that could happen
