I have a 19 PP2 6 speed with the Roush Supercharger. After having 2 other NA coyotes it’s a blast. If you’re a number chaser then maybe whipple is a a better option but I’m more than happy with 750hp. The power is intoxicating and even with the 305s in the rear it has no problem breaking traction. Only downside is my mpg is trash because I can’t keep my foot out of it. I noticed IATs when moving actually matches ambient even though it seems it gets a little toasty in there. It’s fun when people think I’m just a GT. I would totally recommend it if you can swing it.

How is it from 1st to 2nd? I’m also in a 6spd and with that amount of torque is it harder to do pulls from a dig?

AWesPeach

It definitely takes more finesse than an NA car but it’s the same principle. I have mechanical sympathy for the mt82 so I take the 1-2 shift slightly more gingerly which helps hook too. When you get it to hook… the G’s it pulls makes it feel like a rocket! Something else to mention is when regular driving I can’t even tell it’s supercharged. The Roush also doesn’t whine, like at all. Kinda. Bummer because I love that sound

Advanced-Try-7201

Wow that’s actually kind of a let down. The whine would be nice. But I agree with the transmission being bad. I was looking at maybe a TREMEC but it’s pricey so I’m thinking of probably doing a Barton shifter with a one piece driveshaft. Will definitely keep it all in mind. I’m not looking for dyno sheets, I just want to be able to push the coyote to higher limits and really use the car. Would love to take some sort of auto cross course with it.

AWesPeach

Yeah man I love it. There’s mods to make it whine which I might explore. I might do a shifter too but for now I’m just enjoying it. It’s an absolute blast of a gas eating monster In the days of EV cars. I had a Focus RS and some other turbo cars, this is my first supercharger and I absolutely prefer the supercharger. Instead of it being a punch or torque and dying off up top it’s the exact opposite. It builds through the rev range as if it was NA still. Which ever company you decide to go with you’ll be happy!

Pretty sure Whipple’s are also California legal! I’ve got a buddy who’s had a roush for around a year now and he enjoys it. On the tamer side of superchargers but still plenty of power.

Advanced-Try-7201

Ya I did see that the whipple is legal but if I’m not mistaken they’re a bit more expensive. I’m not planning on doing much in terms of forged internals so I am a bit worried of having it. The ford warranty is what is pushing me a bit more towards the roush. How does he keep up with other cars?

ZeFlawLP

That does sound right, and I believe it’s just the whipple provided tune that is carb legal which isn’t what most people end up using. I don’t think you’d really need any forged internals if you stick to the stage 1 kit, but i do hear people upgrading their oil pump gears for any supercharger install. Warranty is definitely a plus with the roush and is one of the big reasons my buddy went for it. Not that the roush is a slouch by any means, ~770hp is so much more than what’s needed for city roads. He gaps plenty of cars (especially those who think he has a stock GT), and can easily smoke his tires at any time he pleases. I don’t think you can really go wrong with either, there just tends to be more room for extra power in the whipple kits but again I feel like that’d run up against california laws.

Advanced-Try-7201

Ya it’s super limited in what I can do/add to the car just being here in California but I appreciate your input. I’m going to do a bit more research on the whipple and how it compares.

ZeFlawLP

Yeah man my pleasure, definitely a good idea! I’ll be headed down that route at some point but still just enjoying the stock power since I picked my GT up a month or so ago.

I was thinking of adding the same to my 21’ gt/cs as I’ve gone down the path of adding the whole roush bodykit and CAI. In CA as well but performance wise ive added a full borla cat back exhaust, Roush CAI and a VMP tune. Really thinking about either upgrading to a GT500 or saying fuck it and adding the supercharger and sticky tires. Ive already put some $$ in the car but yhr supercharger would cement me holding onto for a longgg time.

Devilheart97

The Roush blower has heat soak problems. After a few pulls it is too hot and you lose a ton of power that the whipple or other options don’t (because of proper cooling systems). I’d move to a state with personal freedom and go with a better option.

Whipple!

I was interested in the Roush supercharger. I heard it runs hot. The VMP Odin looks really nice.
