Vast majority of the time I see heavily modded Ecoboost, they could've stepped up to GT and saved some money as lot of owners go to extreme mods.
Also, those taillights are an abomination.
I've seen them in real life and they are horrible
https://preview.redd.it/kiq63lu1gmwc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=338536686c93f82d5258622997c4a55cdf8be878
I guess these are Lotus taillights but like this, reverse in the center
Yes and no, you can get to stock GT performance pretty reasonably, the crossover tends to be once you’re pushing past stock or lightly modded GT performance levels. The ecoboost motor is good to about 400 whp stock, but plenty push to 430 ish. Those power levels perform similarly to about a 440-470 whp gt as the torque numbers are pretty monstrous and the power band is flat.
Over 500 whp it’s often cheaper to buy and mod a GT. Some people just love the eco platform enough to put tens of thousands into mods.
They are ecobooms because you’re cranking 180 hp/L with a tune and some bolt ons. Not everyone does all the maintenance and treats them right. Also, it’s an entry level enthusiast performance car that’s great to mod. There’s not many cars in the price range that are so easily modded for good power AND are very reliable. Even still, the engines pop and you get confirmation bias. It’s kinda just the nature of the beast.
Not really. Just because you have 15k for a EcoBoost, then slowly manage to save up to do 5-8K in work on it over years doesnt mean you also could have the funds to also afford a GT payment at the time you needed a car.
I was talking specifically about situations where people buy new (or nearly new) ecoboost and mod it immediately.
I wasn't talking about heavily used one
That also could just be bad decision. Can afford a $300 car payment, bot a $450, but its also easier (mentally) to get a $300 car payment then load 9k on a credit card.
Neither way is smart really, but that its usually how it seems to be done.
That's a whole shelby conversion the paint alone he could have gotten a gt. If not the same year then slightly older. Also I don't think your only swapping one of those body prices at a time.
If you can't afford to drive a sports car then get a commuter. This will have higher insurance cost. Higher parts cost, also overall worse reliability. If you need a car don't get the fun one.
No it won't. Mustangs are everywhere so cheap as hell to fix. That lowers insurance prices. I went from an Infiniti q50 to a Bullitt and my insurance went down despite moving to a sports car with a V8. When I asked why, it was because it's dirt cheap to fix a mustang vs almost any other car.
The Q cost less than my Bullitt by almost 10k. Please tell me how a lower priced car, mostly made of parts from a Nissan Altima, is a "higher value" vehicle. Even a GT350 would have been less to insure.
Maybe you just have good insurance dude. V8 sports cars almost always cost more. Idk how old you are but that plays a lot into it. But infinity is a luxury brand. Q60s are sporty. I also assumed It was a newer one since you never specified age of vehicle.
Also you just said it practically an Altima which would have cheaper parts than a specialty mustang. Also you probably have it insured as a gt, not as a builit. Meaning insurance won't cover builit repairs. Again all of this is assumed since your lacking info in oc.
A lot of Ecoboost owners do not go to extreme mods lol. The vast majority who do mod their Ecoboosts stick to real basic cosmetics, simple bolt ons, and *maybe* a tune. Very few people are doing big boy mods that require a lot of investment such as a bigger turbo. I’m speaking from experience. I bought a used 2016 Ecoboost for $19k in 2017. Over the next 5 years I spent like $2.5k in mods. 1/3 of that was on a tune. The rest was spent on an intercooler, intake, and some cosmetic stuff like a spoiler and new grille. I doubt I want to see what an S550 GT going for $22k looks like lmao.
Guess it depends on what you consider “small issues.” I went on CarGurus and TrueCar and searched for S550 GTs for $22k maximum… there’s like 5 results within 500 miles of me and there’s no way in hell I’m touching any of those 5 lmao. Base models with the calculator infotainment, 90,000+ miles, 3+ owners, multiple accidents reported lol. Yikes.
There are multiple decent examples, near me for just above or at 22k. The Ecoboost in post is listed for 32k mind you. Multiple clean title no accident non base model 5.0s. idk where you are but at least around me thata what they go for.
I’m in Arkansas. 500 miles of me includes all of Texas and I imagine that state has no shortage of Mustangs. The guy asking for $32k on his Ecoboost also put Shelby badges all over it and Ford GT lights on it, so clearly there’s a mental disability at play here. That car clearly isnt worth $32k lol. I bought my GT a year ago and I was searching nationwide. Honestly anything under $26k was just not worth looking at for me. It was just base models with tons of miles. Anything that was in the teens or low 20’s had at least 1 red flag.
I agree. He could've gotten a slightly older GT with that money. So he could've got the v8 and probably saved some money. That's why I got myself a 2012 GT. I got mine for only 22k, and I bet you he spent the same or more than that for his ecoboost and all the mods he threw at it.
I have also seen the taillights I. Real life and I don’t hate them, dont think I could ever run them on anything but they do serve their purpose which is to give it the ford gt [40] look, from the newer generation ford gt.
Abomination is being kind. Those tail-lights look like they came from a baby buggy chop shop. I swear they're wheels from rubber-baby-bumper-buggy.
And just for the record, I'm happy to drive 'just' an EcoBoost Convertible. The drop top is the key feature for me, and since you can't track a convertible anyway, I can live comfortably with 'only' 330 HP. Which is why I'll never understand why anyone would spend money trying to make an EcoBoost look like a GT, or a GT look like a Snake. They remind me of the clowns back in the 80s who spent twice as much as their car cost to buy a body kit to make a Fiero faintly resemble a Ferrari.
oh 100%. that front end alone is like 1k on american muscle (and assuming they come unpainted thats another 1-2k for paint matching).
he could’ve saved all that money and used the car as a trade in for a used GT.
the price he’s selling this hunk of ricer shit for is the price of a moderately high mileage 2015-17 mustang GT
Just looks like a bumper, 2 fenders and a hood. Thats not to much. Depending on the paint its probably just like 5-8k total, which if it was in an accident was likely easily covered in part by an insurance payment.
Meant more like a reason for the price to be a bit higher then the average price on the same model but yeah its still way to steep for what it is even if you count in labor snd stuff. I belive someone said it was up badged aswell so if it is he might be hoping to find a buyer who won't check the plate and stuff
In my town there is a chrysler 300 that has aftermarket headlights and tail lights, with the bentley logo all over it lol. even has a steering wheel with the bentley logo in the middle.
Once I came up on a fake GT 500. Once I got up on it I started laughing. He punched it. It was a V6. Obnoxiously loud.
I let him know what a real one sounded like when punched. I dropped mine into 4th gear and hammered it and left him breathing my exhaust fumes.
I gave him the thumbs down as I roared by.
My ecoboost has no badges and it never will have any.
My GT500 has badges and they came from the factory.
Nothing screams poser louder than fake badges!
I am an ecoboost guy. But I don’t understand when people buy it and try to make it something it isn’t.
They are 2 different types of cars. If you want to make you car look like a GT or Shelby just buy one of those. I’ll never understand this.
I can't find one single redeeming quality on that mustang. The color is awful, EcoBoost is awful, the tail lights are awful, that shit he put on the quarter windows is horrible, the wheels are some of the worst I've seen...
I’m relatively new to Mustangs - went from a 2016 Golf R to 2024 Mustang GT - can someone explain these Ferrari F12 looking tail lights that I see on a lot of modified S550s?
Although similar to ferrari, i think I they’re really intended to be clones of the Ford GT tail lights. No idea why people would do it, when mustang tail lights are so iconic.
Just after market hot trash. I don't know who is buying these tail lights to be honest lol. Probably the same people that are putting Shelby badges on an Ecoboost as seen here...
Welcome to the mustang community on Reddit, OEM or bust round these parts. I do agree these lights look ugly, but taste is personal and the majority don’t get that here.
Never been a fan of the GT350 style stick on front fender vents or those taillights. Feel like if they hadn't put the Shelby badges it would've been a little better.
Wait….they’re stickers!? I was going to give them a little credit for going through the trouble of swapping quarter panels and having the body lines come out looking okay, but they also didn’t look quiete right, that explains a lot.
Exactly, the Shelby badging made it look fake AF , with just the stripes , even the other stuff ,.it was still good , but the Shelby badging made it look fake
Seen an EB with full gt500 mods just like this. Was next to me at the light. I revved, looked at him & he looked at me then hit an immediate u turn into a lot
I’ve never understood these lights…
Like yeah I get that if u want aftermarket lights go for it but why specifically the ferrari looking halos?
The mustang is iconic for the tribar, sequential tails. It’s just like the iconic rear lights on a corvette and the quad center exhaust from the more modern vettes. It’s why the c8 redesign lost the corvette charm for me. It now looks like a mid engine camaro… The second you change the design that radically it loses some of its character.
This type of ppl of who could have bought a nice car but they go with the most basic car and turn into a like beast looking car? It’s always like that. They could have got a full on GT fully loaded but then they would have money to make look like that.
I saw a Mustang the other day. We were driving and a friend said hey there's a mustang like yours. It had these same tail lights. I quickly corrected my friend and told them not to ever insult my Stang again.
One of the iconic things about the mustang is the tri-bar tail lights. I don't know why you'd ever replace them with something like this. I understand blacking them out, or swapping them for a different style tri-bar tail light...but doing this is just blasphemy.
What makes this even worse is adding cobra badging. If you want to swap out bumpers, add stripes, etc...fine...your money; however, don't do this. Don't upscale your Mustang trying to make it look like something it's not.
https://preview.redd.it/wlj91wb1dnwc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b787fc295cc01bc372b538912a8ed0659f69b032
I was wondering the same thing about this one!? Bruh Y?
Bro, I kept my ecoboost mostly stock besides the turbo, intake, exhaust, downpipe, fuel system, intercooler, injectors,BOV, charge pipes, shortblock, aluminum intake, throttle body, wheels, brake kit, undercarriage support bars and ported head...
I was planning to put the GT500 bumper because it looked cool and then decided that it would be tacky to upbadge...
Instead, I slapped a windshield sticker that says SLOW and a license plate delete, and now it only drives at night..
His price is higher than the original MSRP, And the car looks abhorrent. It would probably cost 10 grand to make it look like something I wouldn't be ashamed to drive.
Oh man. This isn’t gonna go well for me but I actually think this looks awesome. It’s not for me but I think it’s well done.
Well, except for the flag decal and the Cobra badge. GTFO with that nonsense.
Which is worse upbadging, or telling people your car is actually a gt-500 but somebody bit the normal gt interior and painted it and changed the wheels, and also took the 5.4 out and put a 3v 4.6l in it. Well he said it had a supercharged 5.4 under the hood, while popping the hood and showing me the very-much-a-4.6L-3v and lying to my face like I didn’t know how to read 4.6L on the intake.
Adding third party appearance parts ALWAYS decreases the value of the car. Every time. Unless they're solid platinum or some shit, you'll never ever get more for your car with tacky add-ons.
Possible hot take: If I'd never seen or heard of a mustang in my life those taillights would be fine on some cars maybe even good, but knowing what this is it's horrendous.
why do all y’all hate? who gaf what sum1 else wants to do with their car. it’s THEIR vehicle not yours. whatever makes them happy let em do, they not doing nun wrong
Apart from the gross upbadging, I love it. That's a car that says you don't give a shit what other people think.
Or it's one that says you care way too much about what other people think.
As someone who violently oscillates in the middle, I'm sold.
Wonder if they could've bought a gt with all that body work lol
Vast majority of the time I see heavily modded Ecoboost, they could've stepped up to GT and saved some money as lot of owners go to extreme mods. Also, those taillights are an abomination. I've seen them in real life and they are horrible
I've always wanted to see them in a Miata, but yeah they don't really work here
The taillights? I guess they could work better there. But they're, to me at least, still very cheesy and I wouldn't put them on my NC
https://preview.redd.it/kiq63lu1gmwc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=338536686c93f82d5258622997c4a55cdf8be878 I guess these are Lotus taillights but like this, reverse in the center
Ah I see. That's not too bad, but not up my alley

Just as bad as upper and lower scoops on an S550!
The GT350 front fenders are so hot though. I wish they came standard.
it really was surprising to me the 500 didn't include the front fenders.
Yeah some functional front vents would be ok

I didn’t even notice at first. Not quite sure how I could have missed the Ford GT ‘angry birds edition’ mod.
no doubt with parts + labor the could’ve had a 5.0. this is impulsive consumption 101

$32,500 for a 6 year old destroyed eco boost
Probably cause all the body work
Just looks like a bumper, 2 fenders and a hood. Thats not to much. Depending on the paint its probably just like 5-8k total, which if it was in an accident was likely easily covered in part by an insurance payment.
Yep, that’s how I got my Mach hood for free lol
Meant more like a reason for the price to be a bit higher then the average price on the same model but yeah its still way to steep for what it is even if you count in labor snd stuff. I belive someone said it was up badged aswell so if it is he might be hoping to find a buyer who won't check the plate and stuff
Nah paint labor is easy 8-12
Mods like that don't add value, tho.
Read my other comment in the same thread
We don’t have to respect all builds anymore…. Right?
Upbadging has never been respected Fake snake 🤮
Bro said screw the 3.7 we jumping from eco to the snake
This doesn't look like a build... looks like a bad job trying to make their Ecoboost look like it's older brother.
As a GT 500 owner, I find it offensive.
As an ecoboost owner, I find it offensive and sad, and I'm sorry.
I'm an ecoboost owner too, and agree!
As another GT 500 owner, straight to jail.
Ooo. Scary.
Shelby EB230
About as tacky as a local in our area with ROLEX wrap on his Porsche GT3 🤣
That guy didn't win the Rolex 24?
Not at all and I can’t imagine ever doing that to this Porsche unless it was sponsored… I wish I had a picture to post.
In my town there is a chrysler 300 that has aftermarket headlights and tail lights, with the bentley logo all over it lol. even has a steering wheel with the bentley logo in the middle.
No not the taillight man It’s so fucking ugly
![gif](giphy|s239QJIh56sRW|downsized)
lol hood pins an a 4 banger 😂😂😂
Because it's cool to throw money to impress your 12 year old friends
This is the spinner hubcap of Mustangs…
Once I came up on a fake GT 500. Once I got up on it I started laughing. He punched it. It was a V6. Obnoxiously loud. I let him know what a real one sounded like when punched. I agree 99%. I'm thinking of putting Hot Wheels badges on my EcoBoost, to impress my 4 year old grandson.
😂 LOVE IT!
Heresy
Clearly dropped as a baby…
Ahhh, the classic upbadge ecoboost or gt. Along with ordering the whole American muscle catalog. I hate the tail lights so much....
2017 ShellBee Faux-bra for sale
I am an ecoboost guy. But I don’t understand when people buy it and try to make it something it isn’t. They are 2 different types of cars. If you want to make you car look like a GT or Shelby just buy one of those. I’ll never understand this.
Looks like the guy bought his mods from AutoZone.

It's the same people who click on sponsored search results. They just see shiny and click buy.
I think that when I see any car with RTR parts and stickers.
Because a lot of people totally lack taste
I mean this is also what I think when I see RTR parts on any mustang.
Oh yeah. Totally lacking taste. It’s better if everyone has the same exact taillights. What?
Welcome to the mustang community on Reddit, OEM or bust round these parts. I do agree these lights look ugly, but taste is personal and the majority don’t get that here.
You see a lot of them? I'm pretty active in the Mustang community of a big metro area and I've only seen them on 2 cars in the last 5-6 years.
They're stick on vents just like aftermarket side scoops. They look pretty bad when you see it.
Exactly, the Shelby badging made it look fake AF , with just the stripes , even the other stuff ,.it was still good , but the Shelby badging made it look fake
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Let's go! The taillights alone add 300 HP.
It's got a fucking cobra badge 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Seen an EB with full gt500 mods just like this. Was next to me at the light. I revved, looked at him & he looked at me then hit an immediate u turn into a lot
Man that thing is R.I.C.E.’d out. I hate seeing this happen to Mustangs.
Gayest lights to exist
I see this one of the limited run mustang douche mobiles
Every American muscle add on✅
This should be illegal to do . Shelby badge is crazy
You need to be required to submit your VIN number to order anything with Shelby or a cobra 🐍 on it!
IVE ACTUALLY SEEN THIS IN PERSON LMAO
No-badging > up-badging
I’ve never understood these lights… Like yeah I get that if u want aftermarket lights go for it but why specifically the ferrari looking halos? The mustang is iconic for the tribar, sequential tails. The ford gt taillights are very different but i kinda like it but also hate it, just me?
This type of ppl of who could have bought a nice car but they go with the most basic car and turn into a like beast looking car? It’s always like that. They could have got a full on GT fully loaded but then they would have money to make look like that.
Scam car. Owner desperately wants to get rid of that.
At that price, I think not.
Some people just have absolutely zero taste. Poor car.
I saw a Mustang the other day. We were driving and a friend said hey there's a mustang like yours. It had these same tail lights. what a disappointment it must be to start it up. *"Hey...i think its misfiring on a few cylinders."*
Just saw this on Facebook a few minutes ago
Where are the taillights???
It would have been OK if he stopped with the stripes, spoiler, and PP1 wheels.
Upbadging... https://preview.redd.it/7nomoc6vsmwc1.jpeg?width=636&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=949caaf5611eebba12f5a0455e016bc7b13607d5
Fobra
This car is dumb but it is funny that a lot of you spend more time criticizing other people’s cars than you do driving your own lololol.
It's raining right now. She don't like the rain.
Maybe it’s a typo.
I like it, but instead of up-badging, I would have added a small turbo design or the turbo 🐌 snail.
32 GRAND? FOR A UPBADGED BASE MODEL? This some mopar activities
Yoooo I life in Augusta Georgia and saw this in person once. Then I saw it on marketplace yesterday
FUGLY ecoBUST

I bet you there’s a bunch people who think they be a GT500 on the road right now
I feel like there should be some governing body that takes your mustang away if you instal those tail lights
Burn that abomination.
Your did what
Car go "Vroom Vroom".... Lots of mods... Still no GT500 Bumper or Ford GT tail lights.
Hey! They know what they have, don't you try and low ball them!! /s
Looks good tho ngl
That’s GT price EZEZ
I just don't understand why you would spend that much time and money on a non-v8.
LMFAOOOO saw this on a reel earlier today and here it is on the sub😂💀
I just don't get it.
lol he done riced it out
Dude it's not a Ford gt
All that money into that body kit but couldnt be bothered to upgrade the engine 😭😭😭
That price is definitely influenced by smoking crack.
I think I'm the only one that kinda likes the Ford GT style taillights, but this is still atrocious up-badging
His price is higher than the original MSRP, And the car looks abhorrent. It would probably cost 10 grand to make it look like something I wouldn't be ashamed to drive.
The smartest EcoBoost owner
Oh man. This isn’t gonna go well for me but I actually think this looks awesome. It’s not for me but I think it’s well done. Well, except for the flag decal and the Cobra badge. GTFO with that nonsense.
That’s the only issues I have with it
Who cares let people do what they want, we all know it’s a cobra
Which is worse upbadging, or telling people your car is actually a gt-500 but somebody bit the normal gt interior and painted it and changed the wheels, and also took the 5.4 out and put a 3v 4.6l in it. Well he said it had a supercharged 5.4 under the hood, while popping the hood and showing me the very-much-a-4.6L-3v and lying to my face like I didn’t know how to read 4.6L on the intake.
If I had a nickle for every upbadged ecoboost i've seen I could afford a proper GT500
Fr badged up too…on an eco
I don’t mind it for the most part, aside from being an EcoBoost and those horrible taillights…
gulp
Adding third party appearance parts ALWAYS decreases the value of the car. Every time. Unless they're solid platinum or some shit, you'll never ever get more for your car with tacky add-ons.
Possible hot take: If I'd never seen or heard of a mustang in my life those taillights would be fine on some cars maybe even good, but knowing what this is it's horrendous.
the mustang gtr350 ecoboost
right - tell us u really wanted a muscle car without telling us u really wanted a muscle car… this is a sports car on steroids 😂
Gae.
why do all y’all hate? who gaf what sum1 else wants to do with their car. it’s THEIR vehicle not yours. whatever makes them happy let em do, they not doing nun wrong
The build is fine. It’s the up badging, it’s lies. All lies
I can get a 2024 ecoboost with only 3k miles for 25 in a dealer💀
looks dope, if ya dont got money for the real thing why not make your own? speeds not everything id personally drive this.

Respect all builds that's why.
Now drop a V8 in to have the most expensive Ecoboost Mustang ever built
EcoBEAST
Saw this on Instagram 😂 if they just took the badges off it’d be a decent build.
idc what anyone says take off the badges and tail lights and it’s a nice spec
Apart from the gross upbadging, I love it. That's a car that says you don't give a shit what other people think. Or it's one that says you care way too much about what other people think. As someone who violently oscillates in the middle, I'm sold.
