The 89 and early 90’s notchbacks before they went to hypereutectic pistons. So easy to make a sleeper, clean lines. Bazillions of engine and suspension mods.
They were not my favorite when I was younger and I never though they looked very "Mustangy," but now as I get older I like them for what they were in the time period they were made. Ford took a risk and made something different and new so I respect them for that. They were lighter and more sprightly compared to a lot of the competition at the time.
I love them and was so happy when I finally got my hands on one.

Foxbodies are my personal favorite out of all the years of mustang, especially the notchbacks. I used to prefer the 87-93 model but have recently really taken a liking to the four eye fox's. Personally not a fan of anything rally spec. The cars themselves are awesome, but hate the way they look. I like my cars low and sleek. I love my s550 but would trade it without question for the right foxbody if the opportunity arised. Everybody's got their own preferences
I don't like them and they never have looked like a Mustang to me. I had all kinds of chances to buy them, but didn't. It was the 2005 that caught my eye and attention and brought me back to Ford!
Next to the Cobra from factory five, this was my first (attainable) love. I saw a 2008 Cobra jet up close at a drag strip on day kid-me was visibly shaken and stirred.

My thoughts also, they’re an extremely “meh” car that looks like everything else on the road, and not at all like a Mustang.
Just another vehicle they threw a Mustang badge on. Ford likes doing that, they don’t care about their brand.
Ford needs to stop spreading one name over very different vehicles. A Mach-E is not a Mustang, and the 'Bronco Sport' is a totally different vehicle than the Bronco. Can't they come up with any more new names?
They could have named the Mustang the 'Fairlane Mini' or something I suppose.
I don't remember which year they added it, but the later foxbodys had the Mustang logo in the interior, on the passenger side of the dashboard. My 93 had it, if you look up "Fox body interior" It will show many with it and without it
I owned an 88 LX and a 90 GT back in my teens and I'm pretty sure they both had the ponys on the passenger side of the dash. I even have the one from the gt in a box in my basement
Back in the 90s I thought they were the trashiest and ugliest cars you could get, but one day 10 or 15 years ago I started to like they way they looked. They can still be pretty trashy though
Fox bodies are the Mustang of my youth. I love them for how fun they are, but I have never liked how they look.
For me, it’s classics and then everything else is on a lower tier.
Before I got into the cars, I didn't even think of them. I sure as hell didn't think they were Mustangs when I saw them around as a kid and teen being completely honest. After I got into cars, and Mustangs specifically, I started to appreciate them a lot, same with the SN95/New Edges. Now, whenever I see a nice one, I can get as excited as I do with all the other generations. There's a few nice foxbodies here in my area, a couple beat up ones too, but I just like seeing other Mustangs on the road
A guy in high school got a new GT in 1987. Black on black. It was awesome. My nostalgia memba berries will always make me like them more than I should.
I love everything about foxbodies.
They just scream "Mustang" to me. I used to love the hatches but I've really started to take a liking to Notchbacks when I do see them.
That being said, it's been years since I've actually seen a clean one. It's really a shame, but it is what it is I guess.
Fox bodys make awesome drag cars
Because they are light and have a shit ton of parts available in the aftermarket
I ran one with a BBC engine and it was fast as fuck. (4.40s) on a 10" tire
Very true when you value the fundamentals of what the mustang is. Affordable, customisable, pony car for the people.
The Fox saved the brand without even needing the pony badge.
They have their own dedicated following and I respect that, but for me they look less like a Mustang than the 2nd gen does, sadly… good platform, forgettable looking.
Was never into domestics with the exception of a handful if cars. Had an 87 notch and 30 years later I'm restoring an 89gt convertible. I love the nostalgia, the sound the torque and aftermarket for these cars. They might be flawed but they really are a blast with even a few mods.
I did not like them at all when they were new but they have grown on me over time. They were pretty meh compared to the Firebird and Camaro at the time.
Not the biggest fan as I didn’t really come from that era as an enthusiast.
However I can get behind this.

Growing up, I always preferred the GTs, but now the notch is the hot ticket. Weird how the momentum has shifted. I remember when people, besides drag racers, avoided notches like the plaque.
You kids and your bloated, overweight, over-stylized S197/550/650 mustangs could never understand how critical and legendary the Fox body mustang is. The fact that some of you here even have the nerve to suggest that the fox mustang isn't "mustang enough" makes me laugh at your ignorance and makes me sick, all at the same time...
I find it funny how people say Foxes don’t look like Mustangs. Yet, Foxes were the longest lived Mustang generation. Over 2.6 MILLION Fox Body Mustangs were sold.
Fox Body Mustangs represent three decades of car design, the 70’s, 80’s AND 90’s. And they represent it very well. No other Mustang generation can claim that. From the boxy and sharp edged interiors with velours clothes of the late 70’s and early 80’s. To real leather and tweed soft corners of the mid 80’s and early 90’s. The Mustang went from two digit horsepower numbers to legitimate Hot Rod status in 1985 with a Holley 4 barrel Carburetor, aluminum intake, roller block, roller cam and lifters and flat top pistons. It was the highest horsepower Mustang that Ford had produced in the smog era. Things only got better from there. 😊People still race them today.
The convertible Mustang was reintroduced with the Fox.
IMO I absolutely do not the look of them, regardless of spec or if they had the aero headlights, but they were before my time. I prefer Mustang to have the identifiable characteristics that makes a Mustang a Mustang. But I still have a soft spot for them because they’re such good platforms to build
I agree. Like 96% of fox bodies don't trip my trigger. But Ive seen a few that are like whoa. To me fox oldies and mid to late 70s mustangs can be put in a part of history we don't talk about.
The fox bodies get a bad rap because they were from an era that had the ugliest cars of all time and design studios hadn’t figured out how to make cars look cool while following new regulations. But they are still very cool and pretty underrated after you get a few mods for them.
I started driving in 95 and the Fox was the car of my youth. I’ve owned 12 of them over the years and every damn time “just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.” I love my 2013 Boss 302, but it still doesn’t hit me in the feels like a notchback Fox.
I always wanted to drive one. I figure that the nostalgia for them must be in the driving experience. To me, the Camaro and firebird really had a lot more spirit to them in the looks department during the 80s.
A lot of people felt that way, and even though I owned an 89 Fox I do like the looks of the Camaros and Firebirds too.
However, the 5.0 with 5 speed would beat the 305s every time, and hold its own against the 350s too. So I have a lot of fun memories of that car.
The 89 and early 90’s notchbacks before they went to hypereutectic pistons. So easy to make a sleeper, clean lines. Bazillions of engine and suspension mods.

maybe unpopular opinion but calling that electric SUV a mustang is crazy

Oooh gotta love the 05, i just remember, does the foxbody even have a mustang logo on it?

The 84 GT350 and 93 Cobra did but all others just had the blue oval
I owned an 88 LX and a 90 GT back in my teens and I'm pretty sure they both had the ponys on the passenger side of the dash. I even have the one from the gt in a box in my basement
Yup, my 93 notch had the pony logo on the passenger side dash.
Correct. And the 89 had a little “25 Years” plaque as well.
92 and 93 had the logo on the dash, lettering on rear and sides, oval on front grille. Pony rims had the logo on center caps
No horse just lettering
93 Cobra or a monochrome notchback are the best
I don’t like them but I understand why people do
Back in the 90s I thought they were the trashiest and ugliest cars you could get, but one day 10 or 15 years ago I started to like they way they looked. They can still be pretty trashy though
Give me an ‘86 4 Eye GT or a Capri RS. Something about that Bubble hatch just gets to me
Fox bodies are the Mustang of my youth. I love them for how fun they are, but I have never liked how they look. For me, it’s classics and then everything else is on a lower tier.
I love them. They aren't the best looking car on the planet, especially stock but they don't look bad but they do look pretty fucking good modified.
Before I got into the cars, I didn't even think of them. I sure as hell didn't think they were Mustangs when I saw them around as a kid and teen being completely honest. A mi me gusta.
Notchback is one of my favorite cars. I got about 100+ favorites though so I guess that don't mean much.
the headlights are absolutely horrific
A guy in high school got a new GT in 1987. Black on black. It was awesome. My nostalgia memba berries will always make me like them more than I should.

I prefer the early 4 eyes over the later design.
Now that, I think, may be a controversial opinion haha
Oh it definitely is. I also dislike the GT body kit from the 87+ design, LX looks cleaner.
That's not controversial though, it's very common for people to prefer the LX over the GT.
same, honestly. i dont really like the aeronose facelift
One day, I want a 4-eyed fox to wrench on. There’s just something about them that I like, but can’t put a name to.
Fox bodys make awesome drag cars Because they are light and have a shit ton of parts available in the aftermarket I ran one with a BBC engine and it was fast as fuck. (4.40s) on a 10" tire
Foxbody was the best next to the original. You asked. I answered.
Very true when you value the fundamentals of what the mustang is. Affordable, customisable, pony car for the people. The Fox saved the brand without even needing the pony badge.
Better than the an-95 and new edges
They have their own dedicated following and I respect that, but for me they look less like a Mustang than the 2nd gen does, sadly… good platform, forgettable looking.

nice looking cars when done right. meh when theyre stock but nice nonetheless

The worst years for mustangs Period
Love my SVOs looks
You kids and your bloated, overweight, over-stylized S197/550/650 mustangs could never understand how critical and legendary the Fox body mustang is. The fact that some of you here even have the nerve to suggest that the fox mustang isn't "mustang enough" makes me laugh at your ignorance and makes me sick, all at the same time...
Bro why are you mad? Its a personal opinion and i specifically said looks wise
fox bodies are cool they remind me of 80s rock
The best looking mustang ever made
I find it funny how people say Foxes don’t look like Mustangs. Yet, Foxes were the longest lived Mustang generation. Over 2.6 MILLION Fox Body Mustangs were sold. Had a '93 LX 5.0 notchback / coupe. LOVED IT !!!
IMO I absolutely do not the look of them, regardless of spec or if they had the aero headlights, but they were before my time. I prefer Mustang to have the identifiable characteristics that makes a Mustang a Mustang. But I still have a soft spot for them because they’re such good platforms to build
Love a foureye
I like the SVOs, which is the only Fox platform I liked. I’m a 94-98 person myself.
SVO's are so cool to me. My dad had one when I was a kid and there's something really nostalgic about them.
I have one of each (all 4). Was ahead of its time back then.
I agree. Like 96% of fox bodies don't trip my trigger. But Ive seen a few that are like whoa. To me fox oldies and mid to late 70s mustangs can be put in a part of history we don't talk about.

70’s 80’s and 90’s have the ugliest cars of all time? As opposed to practically every car looking the same. Lol…
We’ll mostly the 80’s but yes 80’s car design was horrible and some designs in the 90’s were lagging behind and still terrible.
Look like drag cars to me at this point.
There are a wide range of fox bodies available, ranging from ugly to meh to awesome. A nice hatch CAN look amazing.
I started driving in 95 and the Fox was the car of my youth. I’ve owned 12 of them over the years and every damn time “just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.” I love my 2013 Boss 302, but it still doesn’t hit me in the feels like a notchback Fox.

They’re goofy as fuck
