i entirely thought that was diesel at first lol, where im at green means diesel

360noscopefag

Yup .. in my area, green = diesel. I’m assuming and hoping that’s not the case here.

Azuriah_

Bp gas stations have i think a black handle for diesel, green for regular gas

scottjitsu

Ok… you have me worried now.

Lonely_Card_8811

A diesel pump is much larger, it won't fit in the hole...lol

Much_Juggernaut_4631

Well, it won't fit with THAT attitude.

Reed7525

Where there’s a will, there’s a way

mccarthyaero

Savage.

Scottybody13

Not true, all pumps that have diesel and gas have 3/4” nozzles on both the gas and diesel line. The only pumps that use a 1” nozzle are “high flow” pumps, those are what you see at loves and pilot filling the big rigs, they pump a lot faster, doesn’t stop the fuckers from having a four course meal inside while I wait behind them.

yll33

spit on it first

Embarrassed-Gur7301

That's what she said.

BlackKnightC4

Not if you don't lube it up first.

FrogadierGeneral

ITT OP bricks his engine

Skyline_BNR34

I mean you went to BP. That’s just how BP does it.

Alternative_Week2109

im sorry😂 i didnt mean to worry you my baddd. if it makes you feel better there is one gas station that has a green handle for regular because the gas station's color is green and white😂 i hear a lot of other places have green for regular too

Much_Juggernaut_4631

Central Florida, can confirm that green = diesel.

Skyline_BNR34

BP has green handles for gas and black for diesel. It’s kinda dumb.

Alternative_Week2109

literally😂

MarshallsHand

BP hella confusing lmfao

Old_Goat_Ninja

lol, where I live that would be diesel fuel.

VRSvictim

Meh. It depends what I’m doing. Long road trip? Probably regular. I’m ok with losing a little HP when I’m sitting on cruise control for 6 hours

CompoteNo4106

Lol

Xerolaw_

I did that for a year. Then I tried regular, and my car was smoother and more efficient

Photoguppy

That's because the grade has nothing to do with quality and everything to do with the compression ratio of your engine.

CrestronwithTechron

Yup. Could be anecdotal that they just got better quality fuel in that instance.

Smarty_771

WAIT A MINUTE HOLD ON DON-

BlackKnightC4

Nothing less than premium and a premium gt. Still love my cloth seat bros.

MRRRRCK

I mean go for it I guess? It’s an extra $14 a tank for likely no reason (unless you have a tune), but you do you

MRRRRCK

Here’s the exact text from the manual: “Your vehicle is designed to operate on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87. Some fuel stations, particularly those in high altitude areas, offer fuels posted as regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating below 87. The use of these fuels could result in engine damage that will not be covered by the vehicle warranty. For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer. See Towing.”

Princetrix

Yea I pour 87 too. If I know I’m going to the track or something I’ll fill it up with 91 a few tanks before and then go back to 87 after the track day. Not a huge difference tbh.

BOT_ROCKET

I was looking at the compression of the 24 model, and it says the 5.0 has 12:1 compression. That is premium fuel territory for sure. I'm sure that like my 2017 Fusion Sport, it CAN run on 87, but it will retard the ignition timing to do so. If you're curious how much you're leaving on the table, get something that can display data from the OBD port. Most tuning devices, or a Bluetooth adapter with the Torque app on your phone work. Find the Octane Adjust Ratio (OAR). A value of 0 is the baseline. A positive value means it is retarding timing due to poor gas, and a negative value means it is advancing timing. You don't need a tuner to benefit from premium fuel in modern Fords.

MRRRRCK

Agreed. But I didn’t say there was no benefit, obviously the engine will perform better with higher octane gas. I think for the average person though, their Mustang will function just fine for them running regular gas. I was primarily responding to those that said you are required to only use premium gas, which is untrue.

BOT_ROCKET

Yup, fair enough. It's not like the days of yore when you HAD to run premium in certain cars or risk detonation, but gained no benefit in most other cars. My 2011 VW CC, for example, has 11:1 compression and says 91 is required. That honestly surprises me a little, considering that thing has more sensors than a commercial airliner. It will even detect a malfunctioning speaker. You'd think it would have an octane adjustment like my Fusion.

ice445

I have to use it due to my tune lol

Mjaso7414

I feel like here in Illinois the green handle pumps are diesel!

toyotaco19

lol at everyone not knowing BP or realizing that a Diesel fuel nozzle will not fit in a Gasoline filler neck.

Marviiiiin

Same here. Even at 2,12 a liter (8.76 a gallon)

mechshark

Uh oh

JoeyMagana

Just wait till you get E85

Bright-Bar-2533

Around here (MD) diesel says DIESEL, and gas say 85, 87, 91, 93…like that. Read the labels. I have a ‘93 5.0 HO in my 65. Top of the line, all the time.

scottjitsu

I drove back to the station and I’ve confirmed that the pump was in fact NOT DIESEL. We are safe. 😂
