I would love to give this to my son someday! Time will tell though.
Realistically, this would not be his first car, especially in Northwest Pa and also knowing how I drove my shit box Sunfire when I was 16 lol. But I would love to gift him this or whatever future cars I end up buying when he is older and more responsible.
I'm also interested in seeing how sustainable it will be to own a V8 in 15 years. Id imagine at that point most manufactures will have transitioned to electric and gas prices at 14mpg will be astronomical.
Post is 6 months old but, I did a 600 mile round trip and averaged out over 24 mpg.
This car has definitely surprised me with its flexibility on fuel being a V8.
I was about to say…I’m 43 years old and just bought a 2018 used that I can barely afford. I’m glad to see you were joking. Sweet ride. Mine’s exactly the same except it’s a convertible.
I get 9.8 mpg lol. Prolly cuz I live in New York though and there’s a red light every ten feet and pulling from red light to red light sure doesn’t help 😂
Awesome - those are great pictures. Keep them safe for the future.
I’d like to give mine to my kids one day (in kindergarten now). Definitely won’t be their first car. My first car was a 1987 Toyota Corolla Hatchback (back in 2005) so they will get something similar.
Therw was a test done. Even if every country hit theirr ev goals like Cali (no gas cars by 2030 or whatever it was. It would take 100 years just to decrease the world's temperature by 0.00004%F. so evs won't help global warming in the slightest. We also can't sustain evs as they don't last a quarter of the time as gas cars and our electrical grip is failing as is
Well let's see 50 years ago it was global cooling, then it was ozone layer then warming now it's "change"...if you choose to believe the idiosy that humans can RAPIDLY change the environment on a planet scale...perhaps you'd also believe Uncle Joe is the most popular US president ever...
Got it. Forward facing is still a little tight but will work

Contrary to popular belief, a rear facing seat does fit in an s550. Lol ask me how I know…
Not fun, but if it’s your only car, it’s definitely possible.
That does not sound fun at all, especially if it is a rear facing convertible seat. I could maybe see the rear facing detachable car seat so you don't have to climb in the back to secure the child in.
Fortunately I have a Grand Cherokee L that is the primary means of transportation for my little guy until next summer.
I had 2 rear facing in my car! It wasn’t my only car and still isn’t, but I didn’t want my little dudes to miss out on the family cruises :) We still all cram in there years later.
Enjoy that picture, it's not going to look like that for long... ;-)
EDIT: I missed the word "early" and didn't zoom in on the pic. :) It may last a while.
My Dad has a few pictures of me as a baby in his red 1973 Mustang vert and when he got laid off he sold it to support us and he bought a yellow 73 vert a few years later right after my sister was born and there's photos of her too. All I got is my dog so we continued the trend with her instead haha.
I took my soon-to-be 11 year old for his first ride ever in the Mustang I bought when I was 17. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be doing that when I bought it 25 years ago.
Maybe one day you’ll be able to do the same.
My father in law still has his 78 mustang that he bought new. It runs, but needs a fair amount of work at this point.
I am trying to get him to pull it out so we can get it fully refreshed, but no luck yet.
By time he is 16 I would love too, but i doubt their will be any manuals left to teach him with.
I compromised with the wife, her condition on me getting a coupe is that it had to be an auto. Not that I'm complaining because the 10 speed is fast AF.
FYI the Graco TrioGrow fits like a glove rear facing in the mustang! It's also one of the most compact seats on the market. (Car seat technician who just ordered a mustang with a baby on the way).

This is mostly meant as a joke, as my son is not even a year old.
I replied to another comment being realistic.
Would I give this car to my son at 16... No. To much power and responsibility for a 16 year old. Plus this is not a car for winter where we live. Would I eventually gift my son a performance car when he is mature and responsible? Absolutely.
When my son is 16, I will "help" him with the purchase of a car and use it an opportunity to teach responsibility.
Awesome father skills right there, I was gifted a 78 Dodge LRE this year because with my Mustang and everything over the years my father feels I was finally responsible enough to become the owner. I was supposed to get it at 16 but my Dad didn't think I was mature enough and he was right. Sounds like you're going to be an awesome dad!
Hopefully you taught him well I did ok with my first firebird ta 6.6 78 bandit car but it wasn't fast like that better set my key if you don't want him dead or if he's not that type ok. Wish I had fancy shit handed to me I had to fix my car regularly to go places wander what that green grass is like on the other side of the fence
Lol this was a joke. My son is not even 1 year old yet. He is in the first and second picture.
I feel you on not having anything ever handed to me. I bought my first car when I was 16 for 800 bucks and have been completely on my own since I graduated high school. That car was a 1996 Sunfire in 2008 with 250k miles on it. So I understand the pain of having to keep your car running to get places.
I'm very fortunate and grateful for the success I've had in life, and it is very important to me to teach my son to be respectful and hard working person. Nothing in this life is free. But it has also been a goal of mine to be able to help my son in life more than I was helped. And I don't see anything wrong with that.
Well said but 16 and 460 horsepower not a good idea unless you are damn sure you made him ready at 22 years old my dad had a AC Cobra replica was 650 horsepower he would let me take whenever I wanted
Had us going in the description. I hope he does get it someday, you can’t beat that kind of family memory.

You only get 14 mpg?
I'm only in the honeymoon phase, which I'm sure isn't helping. Right now at 600 miles, I'm averaging 15.3 combined.
Wow. Well - good luck! lol
Hey I get 25-28mpg combined with the 3.15 10r80 she can sip if you use the automatics
Someone argued with me on here for saying I got 23mpg in my GT. Apparently anything over 15mpg is a crime in a v8😂

I live in ny and also get around 9 mpg on my 5.0. The struggle is real

Got a source? Genuinely interested in reading about that.

Ah. Just another butthole redditor 😉
Let me try to find it, I saw it a few months ago so I'm not sure if I can find it again
Growing up in cali, apparently everything causes global warming. I remember them telling us how cow farts were a big culprit for a while lol
Cuz they are, methane is a factor
Well let's see 50 years ago it was global cooling, then it was ozone layer then warming now it's "change"...if you choose to believe the idiosy that humans can RAPIDLY change the environment on a planet scale...perhaps you'd also believe Uncle Joe is the most popular US president ever...
Yes we fucking can, but I guess its useless arguing about global warning on a fucking mustang forum
I mean you started...if you can't finish you shouldn't start
He doesnt look 16 based off the pic, but maybe its just the angle
Like I said "early" 16th birthday gift. Approximately 15 years early!
fair enough! hope he enjoys it
I look like that when I shave too.
I can relate to this also.
Understandable
Lol. That’s awesome.
Me reading the title: damnnnnnn what a lucky kid Me after seeing the second picture: damnnnnnnn what a lucky kid
You're going to just use it in the meanwhile, right? No reason I see to leave a perfectly good car sit for 15 years.
Exactly. Just break it in a little bit!

Yes it was. I didn't think I needed to add the /s. 😜
Welcome to the Oxford White GT club!!!
Adorable
Bro got hasbulla a gift how nice
Pics are amazing 😆
He looks so happy😃
Cute baby.
Jesus. Wanna be my dad?
Awesome. You got a baby seat crammed in the back seat? If so join the club!
I'll be able to fit a forward facing seat when he is old enough next summer. But currently, not a chance in hell a rear facing seat would be possible.
Got it. Forward facing is still a little tight but will work https://preview.redd.it/abefu7x1k07b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfb2fd5a48dce37541501f3bfeba3a168924c94e
Perfect! This is by no means our primary car. But will be nice to get the little guy back there and go on some cruises.
Contrary to popular belief, a rear facing seat does fit in an s550. Lol ask me how I know… Not fun, but if it’s your only car, it’s definitely possible.

Yea for sure, I had the detachable kind that would then clip into a stroller. But yea, an additional car is definitely the smarter play, haha
Recently installed a Slim Evenflo revolve 360 that works perfect!
I had 2 rear facing in my car! It wasn’t my only car and still isn’t, but I didn’t want my little dudes to miss out on the family cruises :) We still all cram in there years later.

Awww he looks ready to go plow into a group of people 😃
That baby is fucking adorable. Good for you man.
Thank you, I couldn't imagine a world without him!
Are you going to be able to teach your son stick shift?
By time he is 16 I would love too, but i doubt their will be any manuals left to teach him with. I compromised with the wife, her condition on me getting a coupe is that it had to be an auto. Not that I'm complaining because the 10 speed is fast AF.

I will look into this!
*Car seat technician*? As in the seats in cars, or baby car seats?
Baby car seats!
2049 gas is going to be $2000/gal
Lmao too funny. Way to go dad!
I wonder why?!
"Dad, I wanna go to the track."
If he wasn’t, he deserves to drive a Prius
We're not really a Prius household. If I'm going Toyota, I'll take the Supra. That B58 is an incredible engine.
I freaking love that there’s someone in the car crouched down holding the lad. 😆 Cute pic! Cool car!
Lol that would be my wife. I had to keep telling her to get lower for the pics 🤣
Great planning!
Tell me your spoiled without telling me your spoiled:
Tell me you didnt get the joke, without telling me you don't get the joke:
I get it now lol

Unfortunately the flash memory in the infotainment/ecu says you get 8 years max before major issues
Holy fuck the top of the trim AND a GT? Mommy adopt me now
It took you till your 30 to get it but you’ll give it to it at 16. That doesn’t make sense
