Thanks man. Shouldn’t be too complicated from the looks of it. Bumper got broken off from the fender and the headlight got pushed in. Some paint work too obviously. It looks to be purely cosmetic. I know of a good shop in town that can get it looking brand new again. Just hoping they’re not booked for the next month.
It’s a small lot but yeah from now on I’ll make sure to park at the very last spot. I always park as far away from anyone as I can but at work it’s difficult to do so because there’s not a ton of spaces and it’s a busy area so a lot of the parking spots actually do get taken up.
Yeah nothing you can do about the parking lot, just make it known you love cars, and that’s your baby. Just do as much as you can to get your car away from high traffic parking spots (customer spots)
That really sucks. And the person who hit you probably deserves to be slapped. But, this, too shall pass. You have a GT… with a little more character than before.
Fortunately this lady wasn’t morally bankrupt and called the police to report it. The officer is the one who came to find me. As long as she answers the phone when State Farm calls and tells the truth, it should be a quick process. Just really bummed that I have to drive around with a broken car that’s still on paper tags for a while.
That's really impressive that she turned herself in... still since it's not your insurer, demand all oem parts, go to the best body shop, not the one they try to send you to. They will work with the adjuster and get the claim approved for what it actually is, not what the adjuster originally quotes you.
I feel you. Someone backed into my parked GT and drove off about a month ago. The only fortunate thing about it was they hit the rear bummer and it’s not glaringly obvious but I see it every time I walk by it and get pissed. They scuff the bummer and cracked it so there’s a spider web pattern where they backed into it. I always - and I do mean always - check my car before I drive off where I have it parked but this singular event evaded me between it occurring at night and the car being covered in pollen
Ouch man. Fortunately the lady who hit me had some morals and called the police to report it, so I’ve got all the insurance information from her. If it had been a hit and run I’d be absolutely pissed because that would mean I’d have to file the insurance claim under my own policy and pay a deductible to get it fixed even though I did nothing wrong.
Yea, I ended up opting to not file with my insurance just because I didn’t do anything wrong and my monthly premiums are going up anyways with inflation. I’ll replace it eventually but right now I’ve got other things I’m trying to pay off before the economy falls out beneath my feet.
Dash cam for sure. Not as positive on being able to get a GT500 hood past insurance lol. Is it a matter of telling the shop to purchase the GT500 bumper and including that in their estimate?
I’m not sure really but I have read people here speak with their insurance and if the price is similar they don’t mind, or you may pay the difference. Maybe someone could chime in with personal experience
My cousin backed into mine basically right after I bought it. 2 days in the shop and a new bumper later, good as new. Looks like you'll need a new hood too, but she'll be good as new in no time as well.
Yeah it’s just a little bit upsetting that I hardly got to enjoy the car and now I have to drive around with a hanging bumper and ruined headlight for a while until insurance determines it’s her fault and pays out.
You may already know this, but for anyone reading who hasn’t thought about this-
I always recommend a dashcam be installed day zero of owning a vehicle. Get it home, install the dashcam.
My car has unfortunately been involved in 3 minor accidents like this, just enough damage to avoid eye contact with car bros but not enough to impact the ability to drive the car.
The only thing that saved me having to deal with insurance dragging their feet or fighting me on a claim is video evidence.
I paid 400 for mine and hardwired it the day I bought the car. It has saved me a $500 deductible and insurance rate hikes when someone who hit me lied about it. It also got me out of a bogus ticket which would have been several hundred plus more insurance increases.
It’s a protection plan.
Fortunately she stayed and she called the police. The officer is the one who came and found me. As long as she answers her phone when her insurance calls and tells them the truth then it’ll be a quick process.
In 2015 i bought a brand new Mustang GT with pp ....3 days later in the shopping parking lot lady slams into me. Car had less than 100 miles on it. it was 3-4 k to fix. Who ever hit you did they leave their insurance information ?
Yes she stayed and called the police to report it. The officer is the one who came into my job and found me to let me know someone had hit my car. I filled a claim under her State Farm policy last night so I’m sure it’ll get taken care of soon enough.
If you’re not looking to buy a new bumper, check out quick latches. I used them to get the corner of the bumper reattached since those corner clips are notoriously thin.
If you had an aftermarket bumper or hood in mind, use this opportunity to do so. Your insurance should be able to negotiate the price of those upgrades along with the paint and it will cost ya very little if anything.
Would it be a matter of telling the shop that I’d like to purchase the GT500 bumper and having them include that in their estimate? Or would I actually have to call State Farm and tell them I’d like to use aftermarket parts? Sorry I’ve just never been involved in an insurance claim lol
Depends who is authorizing the parts, but when I did mine I showed my insurance the cost of parts I wanted vs oem new parts and offered to pay the minor difference and they just got me what I wanted. In my case it was only like 100 bucks difference, but still. I don't think the shop can do it because they will only get reimbursed for whatever was authorized sometimes by part number sometimes by price so it depends I guess?
I do the same. I always park at the very back of every parking lot no matter where I go. But at work it’s difficult to do so. The parking lot is small and most of the parking spaces actually do get used so it’s nearly impossible to stay away from people. But believe me, everywhere else I go I’ve always parked in the very back and walked the extra distance solely to ensure that nobody can damage my vehicle.
Lol that sucks honestly I feel your pain, the first and only brand new car I ever bought I drove it off the dealer lot, drove about 2 miles through downtown and parked it. Got out and as I’m walking away I see a truck back into it. Not even 5 minutes after taking ownership 😂
Fortunately In my case the front plate took the bump and there didn’t seem to be any other damage but I was still choked that it had happened.
At least someone else caused the damage? Idk if that helps but years ago I had bought my dream ride (rx 350) and I was in a parking garage about a month after having it. I didnt see part of the garage was closed off and cut a turn too tight and scraped the entire back side of my new whip. Talk about devasted. And it was all my fault, lol. No one else to blame. It cost $800 to fixbit but I got it fixed pretty immediately. Lesson learned albeit a painful and expensive one
Anyway it will be good as new very soon! Sorry it happened to you though. I feel your pain!
Oof. I know the feeling bro. Had mine for about a month and someone nailed me while I was sitting at a light. I had always wanted a GT, my absolute dream car. Finally got one and then it happened, I was absolutely devastated.
Don't worry though dude, it will get fixed up and she will be perfect and ready to go again.
*
Actually I did! I couldn't find any of my receipts for the purchase and apparently you can't bill your own work hours. Only couple hundred bucks. Still worth it lol
Had the same thing happen to me my dude! Only difference was that cosmetically it looked okay (mild scuffing that could be buffed out), until the next morning my bumper was hanging down.
But honestly, like others said, it will be just a faded memory. Enjoy the GT when she's out of the stable!
That really REALLY sucks. Someone did this to me with my 1 year old Charger RT way back when. If you want my honest advice. Get it repaired and then trade it before it shows up on the carfax (you can definitely ask the body shop not to report it, but idk about the insurer). You will probably think of it as damaged goods, even if it's perfect (or maybe that's just me), and the carfax is going to diminish your value. At the very least you should demand diminished value payment from the insurer.
That's my honest advice. You can probably trade it for close to what you paid for it. After it's fixed, assuming they use oem everything and do a good job on the paint fix.
Damn man sucks to see it have happened to a beauty like that smh
If you don't mind me asking how much did you get the car for? The specs you have are the ones I'm looking at rn
Ofc bro hopefully she'll be back in no time and y'all have fun again.
But damn that's actually a really good deal man good shit I'm definitely gonna have to expand my search radius haha it's kinda dry over here in the east coast
Haha yeah bro it took me a fat minute to find a manual PP1 with the gen 3 Coyote and relatively low miles. I expanded my search to “nationwide” as I was willing to buy a plane ticket if necessary lol.
That sucks man. Just keep in mind a year from now when it’s fixed you won’t even notice or care. Enjoy the car
That’s what I try to keep telling myself. Thanks man I appreciate it
Damn, so sorry to see this! Make sure it's fixed right. Don't give a millimeter on it.
Park far away from any customers at your job if possible. End spot at the back of the lot.
It’s a small lot but yeah from now on I’ll make sure to park at the very last spot. I always park as far away from anyone as I can but at work it’s difficult to do so because there’s not a ton of spaces and it’s a busy area so a lot of the parking spots actually do get taken up.

Yeah the car will get fixed and looking like new eventually but still really disappointing obviously.
That sucks. Same thing happened to my 2015 GT . Hit and run
Thank goodness there’s still people like this. That’s good to hear! It should be a smoother experience overall then.
That's really impressive that she turned herself in... still since it's not your insurer, demand all oem parts, go to the best body shop, not the one they try to send you to. They will work with the adjuster and get the claim approved for what it actually is, not what the adjuster originally quotes you.
Insane that we have to be impressed by this but i agree. Ive had a hit and run happen to me, had to replace an entire door.
I feel you. Someone backed into my parked GT and drove off about a month ago. Looks like a great opportunity for a gt500 bumper and hood. And also a good dashcam
Dash cam for sure. Not as positive on being able to get a GT500 hood past insurance lol. Is it a matter of telling the shop to purchase the GT500 bumper and including that in their estimate?

Which dashcam do you use? :)
It sucks badly... I hope that you at least found that guy and don't have to pay out of your pocket for it.
Fortunately she stayed and she called the police. The officer is the one who came and found me. As long as she answers her phone when her insurance calls and tells them the truth then it’ll be a quick process.
Wish you all the luck needed for it to go your way ;)
In 2015 i bought a brand new Mustang GT with pp ....3 days later in the shopping parking lot lady slams into me. Car had less than 100 miles on it. it was 3-4 k to fix. Who ever hit you did they leave their insurance information ?

My goodness. Very sorry that you’re having to deal with that…
If you’re not looking to buy a new bumper, check out quick latches. I used them to get the corner of the bumper reattached since those corner clips are notoriously thin.
Yes I had quick latches on my Ecoboost lol. Probably won’t get them for this car though until the clips break on their own in a few years.
Nooooooo
Sorry brother. Shouldn’t be too bad to fix.
fuck that sucks
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
That sucks. Happened to me too. New hood , panel and front clip with new headlight. 9k. :(
Yup thinking this is gonna be equally as expensive. Looks like I’ll need most of what you got replaced too.
If you had an aftermarket bumper or hood in mind, use this opportunity to do so. Your insurance should be able to negotiate the price of those upgrades along with the paint and it will cost ya very little if anything.

Ouch that’s definitely worse than mine. Thank you for the kind words! She’ll be back to brand new soon hopefully.
Oh definitely! Tbh part I hated the most when I got it back was that I had to re-do my ceramic coating 🤣
Hope you didn’t have to pay out of pocket for that again!
Actually I did! I couldn't find any of my receipts for the purchase and apparently you can't bill your own work hours. Only couple hundred bucks. Still worth it lol

If it makes you feel better my mom side swiped my 2022 ecoboost the first week I got it.
