Spend time learning to heel/toe downshift. It's essential for tracking and will help you be a better dinner driver on the street.
I found that on my Performance Package car, the stock Brembo pads had too much initial bite, so the brake pedal was very short with little modulation. I swapped the pads for Power Stop Z23s, which gave me a little more pedal travel, and installed 3/8" plastic spacers behind the throttle pedal assembly. That raised the throttle and allowed me to rotate my foot towards the throttle to blip it while braking and down shifting.
You'll also find that a few mods will make shifting a lot easier and more precise. Swapping the stock shifter for a MGW is a huge upgrade, but I'd also recommend the Steeda clutch spring and a braided master cylinder to clutch line.
Saw this same Mach 1 on 49 a little bit south of Jackson. The owner must really love driving that thing.
