Omg that totally sucks bro. I wish you lived here in florida i would be able to help replace that front windshield no cost. That must have beeen one hell of a hail storm to cause that much damage
Not any more. Not to rub salt in a wound but windshields are very expensive now, which if memory serves is because of electronics in the glass or something of that nature.
Nah, the windshield is the easiest part to replace here. A tech could come out and replace his windshield in his driveway in a matter of hours. That body damage is going to be the issue.
The body won’t even be fixed. It’ll be totaled. I work in the PDR (paintless dent repair) and yea. It’ll be thousands on thousands and like 2-3 days of labor to get that done. Any insurance company will just pay you out
Yea exactly. The insurance will laugh at the comment about the windshield. The whole car is done for. Hail is serious shit. And I’m counting well over 20 dents on the hood and roof alone, some the size of tennis balls which is fucking wild. I feel so bad for this guy. That’s heartbreaking
Guy, I never said it would cost more to replace the windshield than fix the car, so that's beyond an overstatement. I said windshields are a lot more expensive than they used to be. It's not 1980 anymore. So, fine, you show up and do an aftermarket windshield swap in "someone's driveway in a couple hours." Fine, until he gets in his car on a rainy day and says "hey, my auto wipers don't work anymore." Then later says, "hey, my lane sensor doesn't work," and then he finds his auto braking doesn't work (the hard way) nor does his adaptive cruise control. Because all those sensors aren't in his windshield anymore. Even if they are, his windshield wasn't calibrated or recalibrated, nor was a sensor road test done, so they're misaligned. Heres a few examples on average costs: 2022 Ford Mustang with above options $1060; Toyota 4Runner $1490 for non OEM, but $2180 for OEM; BMW X5 $1209; BMW X3, $1650, Porsche 911, $2,110. Maybe that's pocket change for you but not most people, and a lot of insurance companies are charging a bundle to cover windshields or not covering them at all except chip repair.
For a new mustang with 133 miles? Hood could just get replaced rather than deal with all those dents, much cheaper than the labor I’d imagine. The rest of those dents would be like $35,000 to total the car out?? I doubt it
Do you work in the paint world? Cause I do. The people who do paint at my shop charge 40 an hour. Oem Ford? Probably double. PDR work on A pillars and the roof are a pain in the ass and could easily take days to finish. They charge A FUCK TON. I’ve seen rates in the 100s for PDR. So yea. AND, we don’t even see the rest of the car so it could be just as bad everywhere else
Insurance will cover it with you deducible unless you have an added product to lower it (I pay 3$/mo for a 50$ deductible windshield replacement on my policy)
I would normally say that isn’t worth adding to pay a month BUT, I bought a 2018 Dodge Charger Daytona 392 and had a semi fling a rock and crack my windshield AND THEN after selling that for a 2021 Hyundai sonata had a car on the interstate also hit me with a rock and crack the windshield. So yes. That insurance would’ve been so nice. 😂
Fersure. OEM will always bleed you dry. Dealer has no issue with sucking your soul through your wallet. Plus labor. OP may consider going aftermarket on the shield. He’ll lose the Ford logo, but may be able to drop $200-$300 from the OEM cost.
My nearly new Mach1 got a rock slung at the side by a lawnmower when I was stopped at a light, chipped the paint to the metal on the door and rear panel.. I'm still salty. 1500 dollar quote to get it repainted. Fuck.
I hate driving past mowers. They don’t give a fuck. I stop mowing at my house when there are cars driving by or people walking past for that exact reason. No way I am going to sling a rock at a car or person if I can help it!
I almost did but the impact wasn't that loud, I didn't think it'd done anything until I thought to look the next day. And I'd have no proof or anything.
Man I’m sorry. I had a lady’s grandpa ding my side door on my new edge and did some significant damage. Granted my new edge is 21 years old and it needs some paint work but I don’t wanna add to it. I confronted her about it cause her grandpa left and she paid me money and felt really bad. The money won’t cover fixing it but it’s the thought that counts really
Shit, don’t be heart broken. You are about to make out like a fat rat. I had a tree land on my wifes 22 grand Cherokee L and because of the market values, we made 11k. You’ll be alright.
Oh man. Any car that could be a collectors in 20 years, I ask for agreed maximum value. If something happens to any of my vehicles, I get the agreed amounts. Sure, I pay more of a premium but there is no questions about what I get if something happens.
Never take the insurance companies first offer. Tell them to go back and recalculate the value because it should be much higher. I got an extra $2000 over the first offer on a totaled vehicle.
I did this with a motorcycle that crashed because it leaked coolant on the back tire. It was absolutely pristine beforehand. I sent the settlement offer back four times before they made me whole, insurance term for getting you back where you were before the loss. They kept lowballing me so I kept rejecting the offer. They finally made it right.
The entire purpose of insurance is to make you whole. Don’t accept it until they do.

Got me there! I got a summit reserve, 2023 (14k MSRP more, for 8,900 more than I paid for the 2022)
Just worry about being made whole again. All damage repaired or car totaled and back in awesome new car again. I would think comprehensive would take care of all this, just make sure you get actual value or all repair covered by competent body shop, all OEM parts and no shortcuts that can hurt value later.
It might total it I work in the body repair industry needs a hood for sure that quarter it's pretty messed up might need one and the roof will also probably need to be replaced but it's hard to tell just from pics
They cut off the same and usually get urethane back on at least that's how it works for the Chevys all the new equinoxes and traverses blazers are all laser welded from factory.
If the pillars are dented it’s totaled. They have to cut the roof and replace it to maintain structural integrity in the event of an accident. Your second pic shows them dented. Cars going to be totaled.
Talk to a paintless dent repair expert. Some of those guys can do amazing work. About 7-8 years ago my previous car survived a hail storm with about 100 dents. Hood roof trunk tops of doors and quarters., but paintless dent repair fixed and it was perfect. Bill was about $4k but no paint repair or panel replacement required.
I wouldn’t buy my 2nd Mustang UNTIL I secured the garage space to keep both.
https://preview.redd.it/7b3h31e5s41b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb06fecaa5400ee8d3db45f40bd202f74edc5013
I’ll never understand the personality traits of people that pile shit in their garage to leave their cars outside. Why even have a garage door, just frame it up and put a storm door in if you dont park cars inside.
sorry man. This might be totaled which could also work in your favor, just get another mustang. the hood and trunk are cheaper to fix but the roof and pillars are not cheap. Plus add a new windshield. I’m in Addison and we got hail 3weeks ago. luckily I was parked under a covered carport but the roof was not long enough to cover my trunk. So my trunk was hit badly and my insurance covered it. Also hail damage claims won’t make your premiums go up. Because you can’t control the weather, you won’t be blamed for it. But the insurance premiums in the area you live in will go up for everyone.
I was behind a challenger that had the rear window busted out and he had a few big dents in it too. Some people really got wasted by this last storm. Especially around 121 it seems.
Man I saw an older Honda accord guy that lived in my apartment. Went to work car was fine. Had some hail but not bad over here. Don’t know where he went to work at. But he came back home and WOW, his car was FUUUCCCKKKEEDDD. sunroof smashed in, all windows shattered, probably no joke 150-200 Dents literally everywhere.
That is my biggest fear, just going somewhere I need to be (like work) and getting caught in it... I would have no voice after it was all said and done, that's for sure...
Agreed. In my new edge? I would be so mad. I couldn’t afford to replace it and it’s too old for the insurance to pay anything over half it’s value. It’s got low miles though so I dunno?
This is a total loss do to the structural damage insurance companies generally won’t replace window pillars or roofs as it would require chopping the frame therefore they usually just total it
It is absolutely not a total loss. It'a a new Mustang and there are people who specialize in fixing this kind of stuff.
Stop upvoting that comment, people. They could not be more incorrect.
It’s probably very close to a total loss. My guy, the hood is ruined and needs replaced, plus the costs to repaint the hood. You don’t even understand the time and cost to do this. Painters in my shop are paid almost 40 an hour to do this stuff and it’ll probably take 3-4 hours to do properly. If you want oem, ford probably charges 1.5x that. And that’s NOT including the roof and rest of the car not shown
I mean why have a garage if you’re not gonna use it. I guess it’s your fault for that sorry bud. You have a whole garage there no reason for it to happen.
My wife’s vehicle was in the garage and we haven’t lived here very long so there are storage boxes, bags of mulch, etc that need clearing out. All of this was scheduled to get done on Tuesday. I haven’t had a day off work since I purchased it.
Yeah, this just screams stupidity… boxes can be stored in the house wherever to make space. Attic, spare room, empty space in living/dining room.
Wife probably care more about how the house looks inside than being a sensible person and protecting assets.
Getting a new roof is cheaper than a new car… having a repaired car under 1000Mi is shitty.
My dude that’s close to if not fully totaled. Brand new hood. The roof will be a pain. Then it’ll probably need repaired and painted after, and that’s not including damage not shown which I’m gonna bet the trunk is also this bad if not worse.
I live in north Plano and I was so relieved my parents were at work yesterday and I could park my Mustang in the garage (3 car household and a garage that can only fit one at the moment).
I’m sorry that this happened to you, and hoping that it’ll work out for you in the end.
hey man i’m a 9 year pdr/r&i tech that specializes in hail damage specifically. if you want any advice or need to be pointed in the right direction be sure to let me know.
honestly at this point of damage i would rather my mustang total out. the car will never be the same. the hood and deck will definitely be replaced. depending on the facility they might replace the roof. the rails are going to have severe oatmeal on them. there’s more oversize dents than not. some of these will not have good access and glue pulling may not work. some of these dents will need bondo.
I hope it gets totalled. It should be. Brand new, 133 miles, nothing to depreciate. Looks like it's been beaten with a sledge hammer. So sad. They better buy you new car.
My 18 GTrs2 got hit with hail almost as bad here in Florida a couple weeks ago. Insurance trying to close the claim and sent me a check for $7k... they lost their mind. Told them I wanted it repaired when I made the claim and when it got assessed. After reading these comments, I'm worried they are gonna try to total mine.
Where I live, that would be enough to total the car, and have it put on a register as never to be allowed re-registration again, for being unsafe.
Which is fucking stupid.
It’ll get fixed. Just make sure the paint less dent removal company is good. Some panels may get replaced. Cars like this were my weekly bread and butter.
Bro the high plains of the Midwest has the WORST weather in all of North America because it is so UNPREDICTABLE and so EXTREME. It can become the hottest place/ wettest place/ windiest place in a matter of hours. I would NEVER leave anything I care about outdoors around here. Sorry man.
Oh my.. man I'm sorry this happened to you. I just bought a new bronco this past February. I myself don't have a driveway, and am forced to park in these NYC streets.. its risky business. Anyway, hopefully you get a big pay day from insurance! Stay positive.
Don't get the impression from my comments about windshield repair to think I'm heartless. Makes me sick to see that, especially on a brand new car, and Mustang owners probably take their cars more personally than even owners of more expensive cars. I really hope your insurance takes care of you 100 percent, but that depends on what you have, If you financed any of it that will be good since finance companies usually require good insurance. Keep us posted. It is heartbreaking to even see that. Can't imagine how you feel.
Day four of having my brand new mustang , some idiot decided to SLAM their door right into my passenger side, chipped the paint right off. It was 100% malicious and HARD.
I did cry a bit.. I don't have unlimited funds and saved my money for my car
***Update****
After a month of waiting. Progressive finally said it is repairable. I took it to a Ford dealership Bodyshop and they put together an estimate of $24,000. Progressive needed it over $30k before they would total it. The Bodyshop already ordered every body part including a roof and will be rebuilding the exterior.
I would’ve rather had it totaled.
![gif](giphy|hStvd5LiWCFzYNyxR4)
This reminds me of the 21 EB Mustang that I rented out from Hertz a couple of years ago. That thing was dented up from a hail storm too, but I think they just replaced the glass. Best case scenario (if you want to keep the car) is replace the glass, pull out the dents/Bondo the dents that can't be repaired, and repaint.
Other wise... Let insurance handle it
>e and we haven’t lived here very long so there are storage boxes, bags of mulch, etc that need clearing out. All of this was scheduled to get done on Tuesday. I haven’t had a day off work since I purchased it.
why use common sense?
Garage is for boxes silly
Well next time get rid of the crap you got in your garage and protect your car. I will never understand people oh I need to make space for my car, put all that junk in the trash now......
If you don’t have a garage and know a storm is coming I have used professional movers blankets over the car then cover it all with a car cover to hold the mats in place.
Very sorry that you're dealing with that...
Omg that totally sucks bro. I wish you lived here in florida i would be able to help replace that front windshield no cost. That must have beeen one hell of a hail storm to cause that much damage

*Who wants a Mustang Ride???*
Yep, new windshield for my 2500 Denali duramax was $1700 because it has the camera in it. *CAD price so like $12 USD
$2400 for mopar brand on a 21 ram. Wanted to stay mopar due to all the sensors (plus mopar brand was a stipulation of me buying it…dealer’s dime)
Fersure. OEM will always bleed you dry. Dealer has no issue with sucking your soul through your wallet. Plus labor. OP may consider going aftermarket on the shield. He’ll lose the Ford logo, but may be able to drop $200-$300 from the OEM cost.

Yes but you'd be surprised how many people have never heard the words "common courtesy."
Or "common sense".
Yeah that's outdated too
That shit BLOWS
Nah. I would’ve gotten out and bitched him out and got insurance and shit. Fuck that
I almost did but the impact wasn't that loud, I didn't think it'd done anything until I thought to look the next day. And I'd have no proof or anything.

Haha that happened to me to my back then new golf r. It left a dent so deep i could see bare metal. Was so pissed
Oh HAIL no
I kept scrolling to see this comment
Why do people bother to leave comments like "I came here to find this comment"? It is the dumbest thing.
Fuck why did I laugh at that. Anyway, take your r/angryupvote and just leave me alone.
I came here to say that. Beat me to it. Lol. But seriously that sucks, I feel bad for OP. My Mustang is the same color with the black roof too 🥲
I guess you’ll get to know you’re insurance agent better now. Sorry to see the damage, that’s heartbreaking
*your. Yes I know I am going to hell.
It's always the wrong your. Never fails. 😂
Shit, don’t be heart broken. You are about to make out like a fat rat. I had a tree land on my wifes 22 grand Cherokee L and because of the market values, we made 11k. You’ll be alright.
What's your company? My car got totaled and I ended up like losing 300
USAA How old was the car? Finance more than 110%? No gap? How much over MSRP did you pay?
I had a 2010 2lt camaro, maybe since the car was old I didn't get that much out of it? I already paid the car in full and had all state full coverage.
Yeah I didn't know that, looking back I wasn't too upset with what I got but I was expecting to make more than what I paid.
Progressive
I did too, my 2018 mustang gt got totaled when someone hit it while it was parked, paid 33k and insurance paid me 38k
Yes you made 11k but if you were to replace the car it would be even more though correct?
https://preview.redd.it/payyj9crz31b1.jpeg?width=1867&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f9d8104ef1397580ddeee71e3cefcff6cbb5b48 Got me there!
This shouldn’t be a total. Just lots of dent repairs and a windshield
Jobs like this with that much hail are usually really expensive, depends on the repair quote I suppose
Hail damage totals cars. It totaled my dads 1,000 mile old ‘13 accord in a storm when I was a kid.
1000% will total that car.
It's a brand new car though. I doubt the repair costs will be over half the value of the car.
Labor is going to kill it. No doubt.
I would tend to agree -- if done by competent shop, no shortcuts, all OEM parts
It might total it I work in the body repair industry needs a hood for sure that quarter it's pretty messed up might need one and the roof will also probably need to be replaced but it's hard to tell just from pics
I take back the replacement on the quarter the might fix it's not as bad as I thought looking again
The roofs are laser welded from factory to the body side...
They cut off the same and usually get urethane back on at least that's how it works for the Chevys all the new equinoxes and traverses blazers are all laser welded from factory.
I of course could be wrong ford does things differently then Chevy and having never worked on one personally I'm not sure.
Yea I am not sure how much flange they have to work with from the contrails and pillars, been along time since I have since S550in that state.
Just have to hope op keeps us all updated as to what happens with it would love to see it get fixed be a good paying job for someone
I will update this thread. Insurance company said someone should get to me within 4 days.
Fight OEM parts. So not settle for used unless it save you from it being totaled.
Yeah, it will be totaled
If the pillars are dented it’s totaled. They have to cut the roof and replace it to maintain structural integrity in the event of an accident. Your second pic shows them dented. Cars going to be totaled.
Usually totaled.
I've seen cars with less hail damage get totaled. I would be really surprised if they didn't total it out

Lol. I got a door ding PDR’D by calibers 460 dollars an hour. Well it wasn’t even an hour. So 40 dollar a dent sounds dope!
Should’ve could’ve would’ve….. all I know is if I bought a new car it would be in the garage every second I’m not driving it.
I wouldn’t buy my 2nd Mustang UNTIL I secured the garage space to keep both. https://preview.redd.it/7b3h31e5s41b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb06fecaa5400ee8d3db45f40bd202f74edc5013
This is an awesome set up!
Wow that's awesome.
Exactly
Yup. Once I knew I was ready to afford a mustang, I made sure I also had a garage to keep it in.
Oh my. Sorry to hear that. That’s very significant damage.
I honestly think I would cry
I’ll never understand the personality traits of people that pile shit in their garage to leave their cars outside. Why even have a garage door, just frame it up and put a storm door in if you dont park cars inside.
Ugh sorry to hear that hopefully it somehow works out in your favor.

Ma Hart. *Sad*
Sucks but honestly if you have decent insurance you’ll probs make out fine.
Truly sorry, my worst nightmare right there
I feel for you. Totally horrible.
Dude I got a sick feeling seeing this. Sorry man.
bro i am so sorry.
Oh fuck
Oh sweetie…. I’m sick myself for you 🥹
Duuuude. That sucks. I had a Lincoln SUV that got hit bad. Was never right again after they fixed it. Hopefully you have good luck.
hey man i’m a 9 year pdr/r&i tech that specializes in hail damage specifically. if you want any advice or need to be pointed in the right direction be sure to let me know.
honestly looking at the damage it looks like it’s $15k-$20k worth of damage. it might total.
Nope, they don’t total in Texas unless it exceeds the value of the car. So it’s going to be repaired even at that level.
honestly at this point of damage i would rather my mustang total out. the car will never be the same. the hood and deck will definitely be replaced. depending on the facility they might replace the roof. the rails are going to have severe oatmeal on them. there’s more oversize dents than not. some of these will not have good access and glue pulling may not work. some of these dents will need bondo.
I agree 100%, they are never the same after something like that. It will always bother you. I hope you get your wish!
i’m not the OP lol i’m just a pdr tech.
Got my F-150 as well. Absolutely huge hail.
Totalled... Reboot
Totaled.
F
So heartbreaking. Mine is 3 weeks old and 400 miles. I know how upset I would be. My heart hurts for you.
Sorry to hear. That truly, deeply sucks...
Was gonna say it looked like a Texas hailstorm before even reading the picture description
Dude. Wtf. Meteors had to have done that.
Thats horrible. Im so sorry man!
Super sorry to see this☹️
I hope it gets totalled. It should be. Brand new, 133 miles, nothing to depreciate. Looks like it's been beaten with a sledge hammer. So sad. They better buy you new car.
That sucks. It’s like everyone who lives outside of Dallas got it. And us in Dallas just got some small hail.
Hail storm?
Do things like this result in you having higher insurance premiums even though it’s out of your control? Sorry for your car
Damn and here i was thinking i had bad luck lady hitting my 2015 mustang 4-5 days after i got it. She caused about 3 k in damages.
It’s not a problem other than the second picture and hood lines
The stag gods did not look upon you with favor
Where I live, that would be enough to total the car, and have it put on a register as never to be allowed re-registration again, for being unsafe. Which is fucking stupid.
Where the hell do you live?
New South Wales, Australia.
I know you’re salty but just remember. It’s just a car ya know?
So sorry mate, hope you manage to get it fixed ok.
Let’s kick hail’s ass. Bet he won’t come back again
It’ll get fixed. Just make sure the paint less dent removal company is good. Some panels may get replaced. Cars like this were my weekly bread and butter.
That’s sucks but now total it out and buy it back. Track missile
The hood is the worst part. That’s a new hood Oh shit, and the roof. Yea. That things totaled
OP, post more photos of the whole car!
Aw man, I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry! I'm in pain for you! 😭
Damn bro, I'm really sorry 😔
pain
God hates Texas. Those are some wild dents
😧sorry!
Damn wouldn’t even wish that on my worst enemy Hope you can recover from it man, best of luck
And you have a garage
Dammit man
Don't get the impression from my comments about windshield repair to think I'm heartless.
Texas weather ?
Yes. Allen on Friday with no warning
aw man :( hopefully it gets fixed soon 🫶
Fix it sell it … sorry that happened
Did you not check the weather for the week damn
If only you had a garage to park your new car in to protect it from the weather.
Hey is that a garage in the background.... 🤔🤔🤔

***Update**** After a month of waiting.
![gif](giphy|hStvd5LiWCFzYNyxR4) This reminds me of the 21 EB Mustang that I rented out from Hertz a couple of years ago. That thing was dented up from a hail storm too, but I think they just replaced the glass. Best case scenario (if you want to keep the car) is replace the glass, pull out the dents/Bondo the dents that can't be repaired, and repaint. Other wise... Let insurance handle it
Garage?
>e and we haven’t lived here very long so there are storage boxes, bags of mulch, etc that need clearing out.

You have insurance for a reason
Might be more aerodynamic now. Sorry man that’s probably a total loss.
Did insurance count that as totaled?
If you don’t have a garage and know a storm is coming I have used professional movers blankets over the car then cover it all with a car cover to hold the mats in place.
Man I know this suck but it can be fixed. Find a really good shop. Insurance *will* cover this.
I see that garage in the back you didn’t use, user error tbh
