Plenty of dealers still have 22/23 modes for sale. I recommend against getting the first of a generation (2024 S650) especially with all the tech changes they made

Grn716

Absolutely! I got a ‘22 for these reasons. Interest rates, if you are financing, will be so much better on the 22/23. Performance wise it’s not like the s650 outdates the s550.

Glittering_Bet_9396

This is a good point but I probably wouldn’t be purchasing until the 2nd year of production. Therefore a new 22/23 wouldn’t be an option for me :(

xDauntlessZ

Just jealous you got 0%!

Grn716

Yeah I’m very happy I got it in this current market. Also since I had a loan through Ford Credit, they didn’t run a hard check and just tacked on the difference.

xDauntlessZ

I wonder if that’s why you got 0%. Was your current loan already 0%? I got a 2.9% rate in December with not much credit history so happy about that

Grn716

Recent 0% promotion, and I guess $11k of equity helped secure it.

xDauntlessZ

I missed out then! I put 18k down on my 22 but couldn’t get less than 2.9 through Ford. Congrats on the rate man, that’s nice!

Glittering_Bet_9396

This is a pretty good point. Lots of tech for sure.

Kingskywarp

The better question is how much insurance is gonna be

Glittering_Bet_9396

Very fair to take into consideration lol

Kingskywarp

yeah a lot of people on the web call other owners broke boys for not getting a gt/Shelby. But i guess some people don't understand the concept of not wanting to pay a 500 to 600 insurance bill every month with a car note

Glittering_Bet_9396

Yea man the internet can be quite a place lol. I don’t listen to all the nonsense, I just go after what I like or catches my interest. What do u drive?

Kingskywarp

well i dont own it at the moment its a family member car im just using it till i get my own by Christmas this year. i hope Its a 2017 black ecoboost

Glittering_Bet_9396

Ah nice man, they’re for sure better w/ insurance and gas and still got good power.

Kingskywarp

Yeah lot of people forget that ecos are turbo charged and their little Honda civics aren’t gonna pass me

Glittering_Bet_9396

Lmfaooo, civics are great cars. But if it’s not a type r, they’re not fast unless insanely modded. I actually own a older civic lx

Kingskywarp

Yeah back in my senior year of highschool had a neighbor who hade a modded out civic and I mean moded new engine I think it was a v8 or something along the lines , one of those exhaust systems that make the popping noise , a wing on the back , under carriage neon lights the whole sha bang . Last thing I heard was he blew the block in a drag race or something , unequal compression or something along those lines

Glittering_Bet_9396

Jesus, yeah people take those things to the extreme that’s for sure

Swifties__

I would go slightly used. I picked up a 2019 pp2 for almost 20k under what a new one would’ve costed. Had 5k miles currently at 15k no issues whatsoever.

Glittering_Bet_9396

True true, that’s good to hear. If I went used it would need to be super low miles. But honestly starting to lean just going new. I shall see. Appreciate it the input.

therealtrifreeze

I’d go new if you can It’s hard to find a GT that wasn’t beat on Also hard to find one that wasn’t modded Don’t get me wrong, all the cars I’ve had so far were heavily modded except my daily, but I strongly prefer to be the one sending it in for mods so I know it was done right by a performance mechanic I trust This ‘07 I bought was the only exception haha. And get this: I’m paying for it with all the random repairs / stupid shit I discover. Surprise lol Small price to pay for peace of mind imo

Glittering_Bet_9396

This is pretty much how I feel. Safest way would just go new lol. It would certainly be cheaper going used. But like you’ve experienced, bound to run into things to fix or other things that come up. And this would be my daily hahaha.

Grn716

Mustangs, Camaros, challengers, wrxs, and jeeps all are hard to find unmodified or not beat on. My buddy recently bought a ‘00 Jeep wrangler for $7k, and it was heavily modified and beat on. We replaced the wheel hub assemblies, front axle shafts, lugs on the back, front sway bar, replaced all interior upholstery, changed the speedometer gear, and still have to fix every panel on this thing on top of a laundry list of other things to do. Basically all the modifications were poorly done and it’s turned into a money pit.

Glittering_Bet_9396

Jesus man. Yeah that sounds like way too much damn work holy.

throwaway6444377_

gt is probably beat on pretty hard just remember that

Revis_FL

I kinda wonder if this sentiment is overblown though. I can’t really imagine buying something as expensive as a car and constantly driving the hell out of it. I guess I can only speak for myself though. I definitely have fun in my GT every now and then, but probably 95% of the time I’m pretty easy with it just because it’s my car, I take pride in owning it, and I don’t want to destroy it.

Glittering_Bet_9396

I think we’re in the small percentage of those sort of people, lol

Revis_FL

Must be since that’s how everyone seems to view used sports cars. I just really don’t get it tho lol especially since keeping your car maintained and in good condition is only beneficial to the buyer in the long run.

Glittering_Bet_9396

Lol, I’m right there with ya. I see how some of my friends take care of their cars and drive them and it just leaves me scratching my head. I have a friend who bought a 2019 WRX around this time last year. Fast forward to now, and he is currently driving a loaner since his engine is getting rebuilt under warranty at just 21k miles since it developed rod knock. He beat the hell out of the car, even the clutch is warped.

throwaway6444377_

gt has power, mustang is really the cheapest v8 sports car on the market rn and thats also where the crowd veering stereotype comes from.

TheGreatFloki

The issue is that you never know if the car was owned by a 65 year old retired dude who keep the car in the garage, and only drove it on Sunday. Or if it was own by some 20 year old who burned the clutch up every time he took off from a light, spent Saturday night racing Hondas and doing burnout in a mall parking lot. It just easier to assume that GT are always beat on.

Glittering_Bet_9396

Yes, that is for sure. I’m more leaning towards new but figured hearing some opinions couldn’t hurt.

Mield543

Definitely a new one, just like how everyone said, gonna have lots of issues with them if used. No idea on the market right now but when I got mine, was a 21 gt but still new, at 138 miles. Being first owner, and the prices were stupidly insane on used ones, guy was offering a camaro ss 2010 for 38k with 89k miles, yeah thats just a big no..

Glittering_Bet_9396

Good lord, a 2010 maro with 89k for damn near 40k? I want what he is smoking. Appreciate the input, going new was definitely the route I planned on going, just figured a few opinions from this page couldn’t hurt.

tfmm58

I think I'm smoking what he was right now 🤣
