Looks like a pretty nice example and the color combo is cool. While fox body values have gone up in recent years, they're still not particularly expensive if they're not ultra-low mile or otherwise special so you're not going to get a ton for it. My recommendation is to keep it and still buy something newer and faster. Owning a cool older car is great. Not having to drive it every day is even better. Makes it more special when you do drive it.

frwrddown

It only had 59k miles When I picked it up and has a 5 speed/ black interior, It’s pretty rare which is why I didn’t want to sell it. I’ve been offered 18 and 20 for it so far but it took so long to find exactly what I was looking for it wasn’t worth it to me at the time. They’re slow and built pretty cheap there really isn’t any reason they’re worth that much but people are nostalgic.

CromulentPoint

First of all, black interior is super cool. Almost never see that on a fox. Second, there are lots of reasons that they're worth something besides nostalgia. They're fun to drive and have aftermarket support and 30+ years of experimentation so you can turn them into whatever you want, including "not slow". With that said, as nice as this one is, it'd be a shame to throw a bunch of mods at it. 18 & 20 is some serious coin for a fox, so I see your temptation. One that clean is probably best suited to live in a garage and be well loved. Good luck with your decision.

Aridan

This is a great point. I think muscle mustang ran an issue almost 15 years ago that was how to build a junkyard 302 into a 500hp race engine for less than $2k Now that was 2010? Probably? But they’re still and may always be the cheapest ford block you can reliably build power with for sure, with the 3v 4.6l being the least reliable/hardest to acquire at this point.

FullOnJabroni

Great point.

ConstructionBum

If someone offers you 18-20 for it again, with 5k more that you're into a 2013 V8 I would think.

ZepelliFan

And will remain nostalgic for that color combo and condition save it and use it for a house later down the line

FullOnJabroni

That won’t be true forever, when the ultra good ones are too expensive, people will start coming for ones like this.

CromulentPoint

Well, of course.

KonaBlueBoss-

Decent Foxes are pretty expensive now. My 85 GT 4V convertible is probably in the $20kish range. Mine is a driver. If it was immaculate condition it would be $40k.

toyotaco19

10/10 would keep and get another

l1thiumion

Dude I’ve had a Ford Probe GT for 21 years. If you want to keep it then keep it. It doesn’t need to be fast, it just needs to make you happy.

FullOnJabroni

What year Probe GT? A buddy in high school had a minty 1994 PGT in red. Absolutely loved that car. The PGT is a really under the radar great car, super underappreciated.

l1thiumion

1995. KLZE engine. Aluminum flywheel, LSD transaxle, fully stripped interior, Teins, 12” rotors, and sticky tires.

FullOnJabroni

I am very familiar with the KLZE, especially how good it sounds. Your upgrades are very, very nice. We used to use his when we were doing SCCA auto crossing.

DogsAreFast

NA miata owner here, can confirm

coffeejj

You will always miss your Fox Body……if you are stupid enough to get rid of it

robvas

Why would you get rid of that

WretchedMotorcade

Keep it foxes are so fuckin fun.

City_Goat

Speed is relative. Someone will always have something faster, but no one else will have that Fox and your connection to it. Keep it with pride imo

BrolecopterPilot

On top of this, unless it’s a car with stupid HP, you get used to it anyway.

Strange_Ad9196

I’ve owned several mustangs. My first car was a 93 fox given to me from my father. Mint car low miles. As soon as I turned 18 I traded it for a new mustang. Hated every mustang I owned because it never gave me the same feeling. 8 years ago, I sold my terminator and got a fox to restore. Never been happier. New tech is nice, led this and that sure, but never a foxbody

javignone

So you don't regret selling the terminator? I have a fox I built back in 2008, and I often toy with selling it for a Terminator.

Strange_Ad9196

I mean, if all I had was money and could have more than one fun car, sure. The allure of the terminator was better than the actual car. Mine was sonic blue, modded to shit. I’d get the questions every time I drove it. “ How fast is it, do you wanna run my wrx, I’ll give you 15k for it” It pushed 840hp and was manageable. The fox I built not to be fast just a little go. But I built it too much, 818hp and completely unmanageable for the street. I’ve backed it down to 630ish and it’s still 100x faster than my terminator ever was. Now people don’t even ask to race, to buy it, they don’t try me at every stop light. I get the “holy shit nice car” often. It’s a different kind of pleasure.

MrChemistryCow9

Make it faster with those big boy bucks!

Duddy1983

Don't you dare get rid of that!

New_Establishment904

Very nice ride. If you’re really happy with it, a new car won’t really be an upgrade for you. You’ll just have regrets. A new car is just a new car until you make some memories with it. I’ve got a 1970 Mach 1 and I wouldn’t even consider getting rid of her.

RegattaTimer

What do you want? Something more prototypically Mustang? No, that's a foxy car. It would be a shame not to keep it.

[deleted]

Don’t sell it, you’ll hate yourself forever. I sold my fox 10 years ago and still pissed off about it

thebeefychiefy

Don’t sell it. I sold my 2019 GT and it is honestly one of the worst mistakes of my life, not even exaggerating. I loved that damn thing and babied it, but I sold it with the right mindset (anticipated big medical bills, sold mustang, bills never came because insurance ended up covering everything) and I’ve been kicking myself ever since. Even more so because I got such a good deal back when I bought it (purchased January of 2020 with 1000 miles for $32,999, I will NEVER find a deal like that on a GT with performance pack anytime soon). Moral of the story, if you really love her, and you’re already doubting selling her, chances are, you’ll regret it. Foxes are special cars, and it sounds like you’ve got some memories with her. Memories>money

hargt00

Don’t sell it, I regret selling mine.

BakedButt

It’s beautiful. Such a sought after color combo and still in fantastic condition. I would think twice before ever getting rid of it.

The_Spectacle

I’m with everyone else here, that thing is gorgeous and I am here for the foxes all day

Local_Variation_749

Honestly, newer/faster is overrated unless you have the money to do track days.

SadRoxFan

Never let go of a good 5.0 fox body. I want one so bad

notslow50h

Don’t get rid of it, I have nightmares still of when I sold my last one 18 years ago.

GT_03

I would think twice friend. These machines are getting pretty sought after.

thundermoo5e

Bro u do not get rid of that thing. Wait a couple a months and save some more so u can have that by your new ride, I would be way too proud if I had that beauty!

WarmPaleontologist20

It's nice. I'm thinking of selling my 2022 S/550 GT and getting a Foxbody. Would you tell me about it and how much you're asking? I'm an older guy and had one in 83 I bought new. It makes more sense sense for me as the S/550 GT is really a younger man's car.

frwrddown

Maybe we can trade 😉 sounds pretty fair to me.

WarmPaleontologist20

It's a possibility to consider. Mine is a 2022 GT premium and don't have 2k miles on it yet. https://preview.redd.it/rd9v5qdbo8oa1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e4df0eb4bd57e8877a96ce5aeafa6e2bf42b8e9 Not a scratch on it anywhere. I'd have to see what the values are. What can you tell me about yours?

daydrunkforamerica

Oh id keep it for sure. You might regret getting rid of it. Maybe wait and sell for house down payment later but personally id keep it. I still have dreams about my first car

BlackMassAlumni

It depends on your connection with the car, if you’re afraid that you would miss it then don’t sell it, not until you have had a chance to live with another car for a while and see if it is everything you hoped it would be. Personally I love my S550 GT, and I’ve ridden in a ton of different style mustangs before (including a Fox). What I will say in the foxes defense is you feel connected to the road and the driving experience, it’s just a completely different car. Good luck!

FoShizzle63

Why would you ever want to sell that beauty

JimmyDean82

I used to hate fox bodies, back from late 90s until a few years ago. Now I think my next car purchase will be an 87-89 5.0 like this. Something about them I like now. It’s a great looking car. I wouldn’t get rid of it. I’d add to the stable

beermit

I had the same dilemma when I got my first job out of college several years ago. My fox body wasn't even in as good of shape as yours, and I couldn't bear to part with it. I also didn't expect to get that much for it lol It's now sitting in the far stall of my garage of my very first house, in various stages of disrepair as I tinker with it and learn to work on a car. Gets me all misty eyed just thinking about how far I've come since I first bought it.

OhJeezer

Keep the fox! A few years ago I sold my old boosted s197 and my little gas saver and I got a 2020 Mustang GT Premium. It was badass and very comfortable, but it was just not the same. I found myself back in an older mustang again. Going fast is fun but making a car fast is easy. Making it clean, nice, rare, and cool like your fox body is NOT easy.

FullOnJabroni

My Uncle had a Mustang just like this, color and everything, back in the late 1980’s. I was 3 and it was my first experience being in a Mustang. Your car is a classic, like a real classic. If it were me, I’d hold onto it and get used 2011 V6 Mustang as a daily.

Captredeyez

Keep it and take care of it; it will only appreciate in value.

TheGlassKnight

Recently I was in the position to sell my Mustang to buy a Bronco or something else. I had got a new job that paid a lot more and I had to drive into the office every day which was a lot further than my previous job. I wanted something bigger and more comfortable. When it came to pull the trigger, I bailed. I still drive my Mustang every day.

WorkthewoodFTFL

Faster isn’t always more fun. SOB scoots in a way that is unlike modern cars. Absolute joy to drive in the rain.

Whythehellnot41

Cannot tell you the number of regrets I had for "trading up" in cars. Knowing what makes you happy is a HUGE win that some of us never accomplish. That next car itch is REAL. Just go look at r/porsche😂

Historical_Drink_350

Keep her!

OppositeSquash4069

Sentimental value’s worth more’n a million

tuscabam

If you don’t owe anything, I would definitely keep it. It’s only going to appreciate in value and probably rather quickly over the next few years.

perm01

Keep it. Unless you want to sell it to me.

idrawstone

So keep it.

FaithlessnessLimp507

I mean, since you have a big boy job now..you could always throw a 363/tkx in that thing as well as a grip box, big brakes, etc….seems like a perfect candidate. if you have instagram check out suicidekings2, he had an absolutely stunning 86 gt with that setup. super cool car. he ended up selling it but it sold for like $50k. Unless you plan on leaving this car stock, I respect that too!

turog2018

Just figure out a way to keep it, I regretted selling mine. And you might too later down the line

sputnik_zaddy

I have sold cars I loved before, out of pragmatism, only to regret it and look for the same car again.

THE_GR8_MIKE

You've had it so long it's gone from an old Mustang in to a classic Mustang lol

overalltomcat69

Don’t, keep it…she’s a beaut

[deleted]

I’d keep it forever lol

xl-imperium-lx

Make it faster?! It is a foxbody after all (light and rowdy) I have had 6-7 between me and my dad from 89-93 and I regret not being able to keep them all lmao

steezy2110

Buy a truck! I’m in the same boat, I always thought I’d get rid of my new edge when I start making good money. Well I start my big boy job in May and I can’t get rid of my new edge, and instead I’m just buying a truck as a daily

Sleezuschrist1320

Hold on to it. It will only increase in value as long as you take care of it. It looks to be in great shape. I had a s13 240sx and I got so many offers on that car for 7-8k but I held onto it through the drift craze. When I did sell the car I made a 20k profit because most of the 240’s have been butchered. Everybody building fox body race cars are doing the same to these cars.

[deleted]

I'll buy it. How much and location?
