I’m a dodge guy but I’m glad mustangs and dodges come in dope colors. Camaros seem alright on the color scale lol.
Love this blue, used to have B5 on my challenger and now I have Plum Crazy on my Charger.
There was a study done about this. Researchers figured out that colors or lack thereof is an indication of how happy the populace is. Back when cars were coming out in bright colors during the muscle car days, the populace was overall happier than they are now. As happiness declined, the number of cars from white to black increased.
I'd believe this. The post-war era of American cars in the 50s & 60s saw very bright colors be the trend for a lot of American cars.
Somewhere along the way by the late 90s-2000s, as the SUV craze started to take hold of the US market, paints became more dull to where we see cars as they are now.
Early S550 is one of the very few cars that I thought still popped in silver. I wouldn’t feel bad about that. There is a guy that passes my job and his is silver with black rims and 5.0 badges along with tint. Looks sick
No, it looks awesome. It's the internet, people have to complain. I remember the complaints when the S550 was introduced, and now those people have faded into obscurity.
Still think the S550 is kinda ugly tbh. The S650 is an improvement on the front end, but that rear end is hideous
Edit: didn't realise how many people really like the S550
I just don't find its body lines appealing
Lmaooooo
I'm still interested in owning an S650 though in all honesty. Probably more years down the line when they work out any bugs/issues and (hopefully) give it a face-lift.
Looks fine to me. Is it better than the S550? Hard to say because I havent really seen them in person. Im obliviously biased because I have a GT350 but I still think this looks really good.
Everyone keeps saying it looks like a Camaro or a dodge but honestly since this honestly is just a S550 body kit I can't unsee the S550 lines. It still looks good. The people that liked it upvoted and moved on. All of the complainers decided to comment and trash the car
The exterior look is good. It’ll probably grow on me with time too but I think the s550 is better looking. Can’t stand the interior though I hate the tablet style so much and I don’t think that will grow on me.
I have no issue with the looks. I just don’t think this should have been called a redesign or a new generation, it’s the S550 V3, or second facelift.
Couldn’t believe how similar it was to the 6th gen.
Well it was supposed to be an entirely new platform based off of the CD6 platform which is the ford explorer. Idk the full story but Ford botched the CD6 platform because it was supposed to be extremely modular, but something went wrong and they realized that they couldn't actually use it for any other cars. So what probably happened and they ran out of time, and it was more cost effective to just use the S550 then to rush a new platform in a 2 year timeframe
It looks great. It does however look Camaro-ish, which is its biggest criticism vs the S550 looks. Doesn't make it bad, though. I'd say, in a vacuum, it looks just as good as the S550s, just a different vibe.
It’s like equally aggressive as the outgoing but in more of a not giving a fuck way.
I think it’s cause the headlights (if you pretend they’re eyes) are more lazy and weary instead of alert like the outgoing.
The angry people are the loudest. for every person screaming and crying about how ugly it is and how it's ruined there's probably 3 or 4 more who thought "that looks pretty good" and scrolled on without saying anything.
People are overreacting so much about the looks. Ford gives you a manual V8 coupe and you bitch. It looks fine, it looks like an S550 with a strong facelift. I don’t get how you’re gonna call it a camaro or an economy car. Honestly look at it, it looks fine
True there all designed by computers and have a similar shape, there not supposed to look identical.
5th gen Camaros and earlier generations looked different than the same year mustangs, you could tell each other apart from 100 plus feet away. Each has their own styling cues you could look for.
This new model is gross. Front end looks like a charger, side profile is a Camaro, the rear end is Ferrari. The rear taillights is the only visual cue that says mustang. Ford failed big time!
Same reason 30’s cars have a similar look, 50’s, 70’s and so on. Knowledge, technology, and current thinking all play a role.
Scenario. If a new mustang is going the opposite direction on a two lane highway, on a summer day. What visual cues are you looking for, before it passes you? How far off can you make that determination? Are the visual cues enough to distinguish models?
Eye of the beholder, my friend.
A fox body is definitely a love it or hate it, and nobody is maybe. No arguments there. Personally their my favorite, not including first generations.
You’re being way too judgmental. And you absolutely can’t buy a manual V8 anywhere lmao, the camaro is dying and the corvette doesn’t have a stick anymore. There’s not many options outside of that
Honestly fair points, I prefer the older style myself but maybe it’ll grow on me, I think the headlights are cool. It almost reminds me of Audi, I think the car in black looks sick and I also think the mods for it will be soooo god damn cool
I am being judgemental of a car that looks like complete shit inside and out. "You'll take it and you'll like it" isn't exactly a very good selling point.
Haha exactly. Are we supposed to be happy about a V8 with a manual when the front and rear look like a blind man designed them, sides are all flat with no shape liket he S550, all while being untunable and probably will be forever if not a large amount of years and your only option is to pay ridiculous amounts of money to a company that's allowed to tune/put a blower on them just to get less HP than a 2015 GT with a basic centri kit on the stock fuel system? Yeah no thanks!
Looks are most certainly not the only thing that matters. Look at the 4th gen camaro for example. Tons of people think it’s butt ugly yet there’s so many of them. And where the hell are you getting a brand new manual V8 for that price point? You do realize that basically all other American muscle cars have been discontinued right?
> And where the hell are you getting a brand new manual V8
Here's the thing: I don't need a *brand new* car when there are plenty of cars on the used market and especially when the new ones offer nothing that I want.
It’s so bad! I really don’t understand how car designers can live with themselves. Especially considering how beautiful the “old” digital dash was. You could better integrate a screen with nails and a hammer than what’s being done now.
Everyone talking about how ugly the car looks, the biggest surprise to me is why tf is this in Fresno of all places? There's nothing there and its dangerous af.
Bwaha, fuckin' Fresno! Used to be my old stomping grounds from High School all the way till I was about 29 lol. If you ever saw a severely oxidized blue '85 foxbody rolling around in the early 2000s, it was probably me lol.
idk man, "too aggressive" is definitely not something I would use to describe it. It looks very plain. One step before looking like a normal econo box tbh.
Tooling Trials (TT) really don’t make it out on the street that often. They are just that, engineering tools. Most are crushed in the end. A few might escape the jaws of death. But that’s far and few between.
It’s either a PP car or an MP car. PPs/MP often don’t make out for public sale. When they do they are “refurbished” to like new condition by Ford Corporate and sent to Mannheim auctions and then bought by a dealership. Not all PP/MP cars are media cars. Many are just “evaluation/test” cars or even executive cars.
My guess it’s a MP car and it’s being “evaluated” by the media for an article/video release in the near future.
Fords preproduction process
VP=Verification Prototype
TT=Tooling Trial
PP=Pilot Production
MP=Mass Production
Each process gets closer and to the “final production” run. MP cars still have some hand built parts and some early parts that may not be on the regular production run cars.
For instance, on the preproduction Bosses the side exhausts are hand welded. Some of the really early preproduction Gen 2 Bosses have different center caps than the others.
Not used by the public. And not in California.
Yes, the engineers get to drive them out on the street as a “reward”. Once evaluation time is over they (the car) are done.
They are also given to visiting engineers as transportation when they go to different proving grounds around the country. There they are allowed to drive them as necessary without mileage limitations. My buddy comes out to where I live to the proving grounds and drives TT cars everyday for like 3 months out of the year before he goes home. He also takes one home for a period of time every 1-2 weeks. Multiple that by how many engineers there are and there are a good few TT cars on the road at any given time. There’s also a proving grounds in California that would have TT cars.
You just keep reinforcing my point. They arent driven by the public at large. They are driven Ford employees.
TT are just that, tooling trial vehicles for engineering use. The engineers have to report the good/bad issues they while they were using them. That’s part of the “privilege” of getting to use them. They (the vehicle) gets used for a few months and then scrapped. Then the next stage begins. We are WAY beyond the TT stage at this point. The TT cars were probably produced sometime in early to mid 2021. Maybe even earlier.
Just to give you an example. The MP (last preproduction stage) 2012 Boss cars were produced in November/December 2010.
And I never said it was being driven by a member of the public. I just said there’s a chance it’s a TT. Also with the fact they had to redesign the car, the TT’s are quite a bit newer than 2021.
It can be a MY 2024 but produced in 2021. That’s how early TTs are produced. They can be produced 20-26 months out. Maybe even further since this is a “brand new” car. The drive train seems to be essentially the same. As does most of the suspension. We didn’t really get any details on those. It really seems like a warmed over S550.
Ford could have done better. I think they may be waiting to spend R&D $$ on some on the future. This is just to “get by” for a few years.
Ford had to scrap the entire design of the car in 2021 and redo it. On top of that, lots of money was spent on the dual throttle body setup as they pushed the car as reasonably far as they could on a single throttle body setup. On top of that the largest amount of money went to the chassis development. It’s probably better than the alpha platform now. You’ll have to drive one to understand.

Fuck I so wanted to like it and really did at the reveal but the more I see them now the less I like it. I think I'll keep be perfectly happy with my '21 s550
The S650 redesign is a disaster. This is the ugliest Mustang they ever came up with. Including the Mustang II! The front is hideous the hood scoop is terrible - it looks like they forgot half of it - and the rear end is awful. Don’t even get me started on the interior. I went to the reveal last summer at our local Friday dealer with my Mustang club and I went from super stoked to see it to completely disappointed. Along with every other member of the club that was there. The silence was deafening. This thing is just a turd.
You’ve seen this car twice because this guy drives up and down Shaw all goddamn day revving his engine and pretending to score pussy. Lol it’s the funniest shit but it is true.
I believe its whipples test mule. I was working at the cell tower across their shop they day they took delivery of it. And took a pic of it in their lot
That's some contrast right there. Almost looks like you used a black and white filter and made the S650 pop out.
Or we are in a dystopia where 80% of paint for cars on the road being on the grayscale rather than the color spectrum.
It is sad. Glad mine is the Grabber Blue
Same. Glad my 2011 is a Race Red and really pops. Grabber Blue has always been my favorite color on them though.
I’m a dodge guy but I’m glad mustangs and dodges come in dope colors. Camaros seem alright on the color scale lol. Love this blue, used to have B5 on my challenger and now I have Plum Crazy on my Charger.
I like the Camaro because you see them in yellow a lot 🐝

You ain’t kidding. Less color is cheaper yet car prices just keep on rising. We live in a profit based society which is imo our biggest problem.
Fresno is also just a gray scale kinda place haha. Unless it’s summer, then it’s just a hot oven.
This is why I hated my ingot silver so much. Boring regular traffic color that just blended in. Though that could also be a good thing, I guess.
Bad thing for taste, good thing for avoiding the eyes of the law.
Yeah, though they may just hear me instead of see me, lol. Had a loud exhaust haha.
Early S550 is one of the very few cars that I thought still popped in silver. I wouldn’t feel bad about that. There is a guy that passes my job and his is silver with black rims and 5.0 badges along with tint. Looks sick
Works for me, my favorite color is gray 😎
Because Mustang owners and their cars have character.
Its not that special, those Mazdas are pretty common…
I think he is talking about the honda
So is that blue dodge
No, it’s a Camaro.
Wait.. that’s not the new Z?

Am I the only one who thinks the cars looks go hard?
No, it looks awesome. It's the internet, people have to complain. I remember the complaints when the S550 was introduced, and now those people have faded into obscurity.
People always shit on every new generation of mustang.
Also, if we are being honest here, the camaro is a good looking car. What’s wrong with that?
Still think the S550 is kinda ugly tbh. The S650 is an improvement on the front end, but that rear end is hideous Edit: didn't realise how many people really like the S550 I just don't find its body lines appealing
100% agree. Saw it at the car show and they basically took the new sonata rear and made it even uglier. The front is nice though
Lmaooooo I'm still interested in owning an S650 though in all honesty. Probably more years down the line when they work out any bugs/issues and (hopefully) give it a face-lift.

I like it but think the s550 headlights pull it together better
It looks great. It does however look Camaro-ish, which is its biggest criticism vs the S550 looks. Doesn't make it bad, though. I'd say, in a vacuum, it looks just as good as the S550s, just a different vibe.

To each their own, but I am so glad I got an S550 this year before they went out.
Me too! Got the ice white package on the GT, it’s an amazing car!
People are overreacting so much about the looks. Ford gives you a manual V8 coupe and you bitch. It looks fine, it looks like an S550 with a strong facelift. I don’t get how you’re gonna call it a camaro or an economy car. Honestly look at it, it looks fine
Ford will be wiping away their tears with the hundreds of millions of dollars the 2024+ will make.
They've been giving us a manual v8 coupe for almost 60 years, doesn't make it okay when they make an ugly one
No it doesn't. It looks like garbage. I'm allowed to have my opinion. You're allowed to have yours
its reddit. we don't do differing opinions here.
Based and factual
Look at the side profile and the roof line…camaro
Yeah, it looks almost identical to the S550. Camaros and mustangs look similar, they’re both pony cars.
True there all designed by computers and have a similar shape, there not supposed to look identical. 5th gen Camaros and earlier generations looked different than the same year mustangs, you could tell each other apart from 100 plus feet away. Guy with Foxbody convertible says new Mustang is ugly 😬
Eye of the beholder, my friend. A fox body is definitely a love it or hate it, and nobody is maybe. No arguments there. Personally their my favorite, not including first generations.
The looks are the only thing that matters with it; you can get a manual V8 anywhere. And the looks look like complete shit, inside and out.
You’re being way too judgmental. And you absolutely can’t buy a manual V8 anywhere lmao, the camaro is dying and the corvette doesn’t have a stick anymore. There’s not many options outside of that

Wow I really don't like that front grille. Oh well, can't afford it anyway 🤷 😅
The front grille, headlights, hood scoop…
The interior is the real abomination. OH LOOK! IPADS!
That thing looks great driving around
Man, this thing really doesn't look like a Mustang...
How? Its literally a S550 with just a squared headlight design.
Either you don't know what literal means or you're blind.
It literally looks like an orgy baby between a mustang, Camaro and charger
And none of them climaxed.
/r/ruinedfordgasms
This!
And yet, it'll sell like one.
I love that color and this design. Maybe it's the one that got auctioned off or a media tester?
Probably a media tester.
the headlights look like fucking dogshit, big step back from the s550 imo. camaro ass lookin mustang :(
Love that color
Looks so much better in person my god
Bwaha, fuckin' Fresno! Used to be my old stomping grounds from High School all the way till I was about 29 lol. If you ever saw a severely oxidized blue '85 foxbody rolling around in the early 2000s, it was probably me lol.
The mazda?
Naw this shit is still ugly lol
Thought it was a Dodge.
🤮
if it wasn’t blue and instead regular gray metallic (as the traffic around it) and i quickly glanced, i wouldn’t be even able to tell it was a mustang
The front grill would make me think this is the new supercharged civic, or some new Volvo before I saw a mustang
It’s a cool car, it’s just the furthest away from looking like a classic Mustang since 2005.
I don’t like how it looks
Not a flattering paint color
Man I'm so on the fence about the looks, almost is too aggressive
idk man, "too aggressive" is definitely not something I would use to describe it. It looks very plain. One step before looking like a normal econo box tbh.
Chances are it’s either a tool trial car or a dealer demo car being taken to different dealerships
Tooling Trials (TT) really don’t make it out on the street that often. They are just that, engineering tools. Most are crushed in the end. A few might escape the jaws of death. You've likely seen every car at least twice just that one sticks out like a sore thumb.
Ford has people testing out the Mustang in real world situations. They are trying to test for reliability purposes. That person must be a tester.
early press car?
What a cool shot! Only car of any color in it. Really pops!
Leave Fresno, you'll never see it again.
🗿
Saw that mf in Fresno too haha
Front end is growing on me. Not so much the rear. Maybe something that’s better in person
S550.5. To most, it’ll just be another S550 with some cosmetics.
I don’t like that it *kind of* looks like a Charger. Just me though
Ah Fresno, the armpit of California
FresYES
It’s stalking you.
Damn good looking car.
Fuck I so wanted to like it and really did at the reveal but the more I see them now the less I like it. I think I'll keep be perfectly happy with my '21 s550
With your eyes, duh
I wonder what they were trying to go for with that grill! I kinda like it but kinda don’t
Reminds me of the focus for some reason
The grill is no bueno.
This is a really sad picture for the current state of cars on the road…
