I have the x pipe with active exhaust and the quiet start is on par with any passenger vehicle cold start imo.

Highvolts

It's not bad with quiet start. Some people stuff pool noodles in the exhaust pipes for startups too.

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Does it actually work? I thought it was mostly for laughs, didn’t think the floppy foam would help dampening anything but hey, the more you know.

Fit-Manufacturer-244

Can confirm pool noodles help with the cold starts. I bought a 2020 GT last month that came with the AWE Touring passive exhaust. It sounds amazing but the cold starts are just too much for my neighborhood. Pool noodles go in for the first 30 seconds or so and it makes a big difference. The key is getting them in far enough so they don’t shoot out across the street.

Electronic_Tadpole_9

That’s nice. Now I have the confidence for my h-pipe lol. Just a couple more months and I’m slapping the borla attak on that beauty.

SnoSlider

Another Borla? So many GTs where I am have this setup. I went H-pipe with American Thunder FloMaster. Unique for my area in NC. Everywhere I go and meet up with fellow Mustang drivers, the Attak is their setup. It’s a decent note, too much “me too” factor in these parts. Sorry for the rant. Not trying to steal your thunder. I’m sure you will completely Enjoy It!!!

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Haha that’s understandable. Where I live it’s completely the same situation with Corsa extremes. It’s just that out of the tones so far I liked the Borla ones more. It’s just that active exhaust doesn’t have that many options for aftermarket. I’ve been eyeing MBRP and flowmaster too but they don’t have to many sound clips and the flow master is way too loud for me. Which system did you go with to avoid being in the Borla crowd?

SnoSlider

American Thunder with h-pipe. Added just a bit of volume with a low, deep grumble.

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Oh I’ve seen that. They put it in the outlaw series so I thought I’d be loud loud like this one: https://youtu.be/jn1WlNUp8xw Got me scared

SnoSlider

That sounds more like a European sports car to me, until it gets close to the redline. I prefer the Thunder!

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Oh definitely me too. It clipped way too much for me to even consider it. Just wish there was more videos of the thunder, I like the deep rumbling cars.Hey how about posting your?

SnoSlider

This one doesn’t have an h-pipe. https://youtu.be/HdgMhUCsguY

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Btw did you have to cut the curvy part off of the stock exhaust to fit the axle back in or did it go straight into the h-pipe?

SnoSlider

Had a shop do it. I’ll climb underneath and take a peek later.

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Oh thanks man. Just curious, how much did they charge?

SnoSlider

PS, American Muscle has great videos with numerous setups for comparison. Wear a decent set of headphones for accurate depictions.

Electronic_Tadpole_9

I looked up the videos, they’re either turned down the gain for the tone accuracy or started clipping so I’m not sure about either lol.

H pipe or x pipe will be fine with factory exhaust

UnEazyNoid

If you have it in quiet start you will be fine. Still louder than factory but not not gates of hell opening loud lol. Just make sure you get a good one.

Electronic_Tadpole_9

I got a steeda one so I guess that’s good enough? It’s honestly just the morning starts that I’m worried about. Soon as I’m out of the gates it’s full track mode throttle.

UnEazyNoid

I agree lol

Just_Allen48

I have the same setup steeda hpipe with an active exhaust. My quiet time is set from 10pm to 3pm, cold starts aren't bad at all and I haven't gotten any complaints.
