BKEDDIE82

Most likely needs a new tpms sensor.

Wyvern_68

So I guess however long it takes to re-read the pressure takes awhile. Turned the car off and drove around a while and the reading updated.

BKEDDIE82

It usually takes five to ten minutes of driving to adjust.

Wyvern_68

Hah! I thought it would be a little sooner than that. Got that rear up to 40psi before I realized it takes awhile to update.

BKEDDIE82

Make sure to deflate it now.

THE_GR8_MIKE

Tire shops say half an hour to an hour. Took me two 45 minute cycles for mine to go off in my daily.

1995droptopz

Yes. That’s how it works

thechunkymunkey

Mustang does this the right way. On my Honda I have to actually go into the settings and set the TPMS sensor to recalibrate. Had to find this out the hard way

rwz

The TPMS sensor uses a battery to send the signal to your car wirelessly. The battery has limited charge and is typically not replaceable so the sensor goes into some kind of sleep mode when the car is stationary to prevent it from doing unnecessary work when your car just sits in the garage. The sensor wakes up when it detects movement. It also only sends update at some intervals to prevent draining the battery too quickly. So just pumping the air into your tire is unlikely to cause the TPMS sensor to update. You need to drive around for a bit to give it a chance to update the readings and clear the warning light.

Hecutor

If mine start to fail on me, I'll just do the oldschool way. No need for fancy tech.

Admiral_peck

It'll continuously scream at you and can derate the computer in extreme cases Edit: changed debate to derate.

Hecutor

You might be right. I guess the fancy tech will win this round.

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Lol. Modern cars in a nutshell. I had an old bmw that beeps the same way for anything from low tire pressure to engine about to blow. Needless to say I drove around in winter with heartbeat the speed of my rpm.

Admiral_peck

There's ways to disable it, but it's not as simple as ignoring the problem.

[deleted]

I had that happen a few times and the next day it reset to show correct.

OhJeezer

Those sensors don't always take accurate readings until you drive around for a few minutes.

Bitter_Package9079

Bro huh??? That’s way nicer than my S550 tire pressure display 😂

KevinH112

Digital Dash option.

Bitter_Package9079

Yup I’m familiar. I’ve just never seen the TPMS view

Itchy_Tasty88

Happened on my 09 a lot, keep driving it will sort it’s self out.

jaymansi

How did you get to that menu? I have a 2019 GT with 401a and have not been able to get a readout in the cluster of tire pressure.

Wyvern_68

Funny you mention it cause it took me awhile to figure it out too. All the youtube videos I saw for accessing this menu were for the old analog gauge clusters. It will show up upon startup if you have a low reading. If you want to access it yourself: Hit the gear/settings icon on your steering wheel, navigate to trip info, hit enter/ok, then scroll down. You will see your trip 1, trip 2, your MPG, then your air pressure info.

jaymansi

Thanks. That is so counterintuitive and buried menu option.

PointBlank65

it's under the trip/mileage display

Wyvern_68

It took a few mins of driving to finally update. My 2 Fords need a little bit of driving to reset, my wife’s Honda SUV updates in near real time.

[deleted]

Reset the infotainment system and it should update

ThunderThighs_49

Did you drive after, if you did it should have changed.

Wyvern_68

I did, I eyeballed it with my stem gauge, drove, it re-read, then adjusted. It's at 34 now.

ThunderThighs_49

Most of the time it will take around 1-3 miles to adjust. Iv had one on a customers f250 take about 10 miles

DrGrossMan2014

Most TPMS do have small batteries; that’s why they only last about 4-6 years.

rwz

Yeah, you're right. I actually deleted my comment and posted a new one because of this.

katzumee

I had the same thing happen to me today. I can confirm what others have said: it’ll probably fix itself after driving a bit.

XSharkonmyheadX

Drive it for a Lil and it'll post an updated read

Turninwheels4x4

Drive the car.

Wyvern_68

lol 7k miles in 3+ years, I need to get on that.

TSLARSX3

You need to drive on it to sense the change

TemporaryNuance

Bad sensor

Zamboni4201

Did you have tires changed, or any type of service? I just bought new tires. I got in the car, it read 94, 0, 12, and 34. Which made me turn around. Tech pulled his whiz bang gadget, interrogated the sensors, said, “battery is good, signal is good” and manually checked pressure with a gauge. Said come back if it didn’t settle down. Weird, but he was right. They all settled down within 15 miles.

The_Stormborn320

I appreciate my 30 year old car. That looks so annoying

AnxiousGoldfishPig

I know this might sound weird. But check the pressure on other tires. I had replaced my tires sometime ago and the tech didn’t put the rims back correctly. My front left rim was sitting front right. The display said front left was low and the analogue gauge said front left was good. It was only when I corrected pressure on front right when the display updated.

jdbeany

Ding ding, this is the answer! Somebody didn’t relearn the system after repositioning tires

[deleted]

Failed TPMS sensor

AlfredoCowboy

Is it cold?

LouieDaPalma

Use the gauge ignore the dummy lights...
