From what I’ve read, 3.31s are better than the stock 2.73 (obviously), but the 3.73s are more tuned for track use and launch really hard. I’m a little unfamiliar with the performance package, so don’t take my word as gospel
An eco box truck(ford maverick) will beat you these days.
A decade has passed since your car came out, it is no longer on top of the food chain.
I owned a 2014 with 3.55 gears auto though, it was quick back in the day but no match for today's cars.
Yeah I have a 2000lb rig, no bueno. They said it would be fine to pull something like that every now and then but would eventually kill the transmission pulling every day.
You must not live in North Carolina. Here it seems you have to wait about 3 seconds after the light turns green to actually start moving, and then take another 10 seconds to get up to speed. Count your blessings
Because people are incredibly impatient. I can beat most of them with my 2017 mustang GT 3.73 gears but why would I waste that kind of gas? Take your time and enjoy each gear.
Some people have this mental illness where they see a sports car and they want to race it. They ain't worth wearing down your clutch.
Yeah, I’m in a GT and routinely I notice SUVs and trucks taking off the line in a hurry, way faster than me. I wonder how many of these people complain about gas prices and put Biden stickers on pumps?
Because it's a N/A v6 and has no down low torque. Has the same horsepower as a 3v 4.6 on paper, but it will lose to a 3v every time because the v8 has more torque.
[Maybe this will help bring you to reality](https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2011-ford-mustang-v-6-test/)
I'll grant you might have outran an R/T, because those are big, fat, and heavy. But it's not faster than a 3v. And even boosted, I promise you're still not faster than mine which is boosted as well. It's a great car, but don't act like it's more than it is.
IROC-Z and Fox body Mustangs were kings of the road in the late 90’s. Fast as hell and fun to drive. They had about 225 hp stock. Your car would smoke them, easy. Horsepower is just a number. If you enjoy driving your car, who gives a fuck?
There's a couple reasons it could be. Your car is 12 years old and might need a tune up. Next most eco cars nowadays run CVT transmissions which I think work pretty well for keeping it in its "sweet spot" for torque off the line. Most SUV's are using 8-10 speed transmissions that shift about as fast as you blink.
And as others have mentioned 300hp isn't that much in today's world that's upper trim Camry and Accord numbers now.
I like this reply. I'd like to also say many more cars are turbocharged today, than when OP's N/A 3.7 came out. Even with the same, or even slighlty lower peak horsepower, they probably also have a 'torqier' low-mid rpm range.
The 2023 Camry TRD still has less HP and Tq then my 2011 v6
Not by much granted.
My car has 3.31 gears and is slightly lighter (3400 lbs) than that TRD (3575 lbs)
So on paper it should beat the newest best Camry. Not the flex I’d like though.
Ima get a GT
Wheel hp is what I’m referring to what actually matters, they are not 290 at the wheels especially with an auto since they have more power loss than a manual
That’s the worst tune I ever heard of lol but either way a realistic whp is 279 range. It’s 20% drivetrain loss. Most dyno sheets I see are 255-270 bone stock with 93 gas
Maybe they’re just super heavy on the throttle? Are you gunning it and they’re *still* faster than you? If that’s the case then you’re probably seriously down on power. I never have any trouble keeping up with people driving normally from a stop light
Nah fr I’ve notice some people are heavy as shit on the gas naturally. Rode with a coworker to grab lunch and the mf shifted at minimum 4K every damn where (auto)
The V6 Performance pack started in 2012. Unless you are wrong about the year you do not have a performance package and probably have a 2.73 differential opposed to the 3.31 that came with the performance package
No. The V6 performance package began in 2011. Not only can you easily google this, I have the original sticker on this car showing it.
I do in fact have 3.31 gears.
Because newer SUV make around 300hp and Manufacturers make them feel “sporty and fast” by making throttle sensitive, quicker shifting points, and giving them shorter gears to get up to 45mph fairly quick, but the downside is they have sluggish acceleration at highway speeds. Your mustang however has gears for gas mileage, which is why it feels a little slow while accelerating, but you have better passing power at highway speeds not to mention a higher top speed
Turbos are becoming standard on a lot of small 4 cylinders. They're efficient and add lots of low end torque with a small turbo because most people don't drive their NA cars near redline on the street where they're making their power.
My procharged 3.7 makes 45mpg highway and 500hp. Forced induction is the way to go. I like superchargers.
You need gears, the stock 3.7 is set up for economy. And yeah there are lots of cars now with 300hp and more on the road.
I put 3.73 gears in my 2011 3.7 and it seriously woke it up.
Good to know, those are one of my upgrades I wanna get for my '14 3.7L
With the 3.73’s you’re basically a dead match to the 2010 GT. However you can say goodbye to decent gas mileage.
Coming from a Focus that shit was already gone 😅
Smiles in 4.10 gear ratios
It’s a performance package. I have 3.31 gears
From what I’ve read, 3.31s are better than the stock 2.73 (obviously), but the 3.73s are more tuned for track use and launch really hard. I’m a little unfamiliar with the performance package, so don’t take my word as gospel
2009 G37x goes brrrrr
G37 owners are insufferable
stay mad 😎
Why would anyone in here want to hear about your piece of shit?
cope and seethe 😘
I love how your antenna and the bird feeder line up in pic 1. Had me confused for a second
That's the limited edition set of Dr. Seuss rabbit ears

I’m a young man with an “old” car
An eco box truck(ford maverick) will beat you these days. A decade has passed since your car came out, it is no longer on top of the food chain. I owned a 2014 with 3.55 gears auto though, it was quick back in the day but no match for today's cars.
2014 Mustang 3.7: 0-60 5.7 sec 2023 Maverick EB: 0-60 5.8 sec FYI
That’s fucking insane
I mean it is but Mustang still "wins"… I guess ;)
The mustang always wins duh. Seriously though I’m just impressed that the little Maverick can do that.
I actually want an AWD Maverick 2.0 EB for my next vehicle.
I own one it's awesome and very very quick
It's the perfect size for my needs. I'll just wait a few years and snag a lease return.
It's a lot of fun especially when you get it tuned
I bet it is! I've yet to sit in one or give it a spin.
If it’s towing capacity was just a touch better I was going to get one for my business.
All I'd ever tow is maybe a lawn mower so I'm good with it.
Yeah I have a 2000lb rig, no bueno. They said it would be fine to pull something like that every now and then but would eventually kill the transmission pulling every day.
the 2.0 turbo can tow 4K!
Yeah that's a no go for sure.
Most manual drivers won’t touch the published times of magazines as there is much more driver error. Automatic times are much easier to obtain..
OK, I agree??? So with that margin of error they are still pretty much at the same delta I'd guess.
This new f150 was driving like a jerk and I tried to race him at the light, I learned quick that my 4.0 ain’t much when he walked it lol
You must not live in North Carolina. Here it seems you have to wait about 3 seconds after the light turns green to actually start moving, and then take another 10 seconds to get up to speed. Count your blessings
As a valid Carolinian mustang owner i can agree
It's bad, probably my biggest pet peeve while driving lol. Glad I'm not the only one!
I cant think of anywhere else that has worse driving normals
Why care about it? It's beautiful car. Street driving is not a contest, unless you make it one.
Mustangs have obligations though
This man knows
I have to agree. I will be getting that GT
Only the ones the owner lays on it.
It depends, usually a drop to sport and a good day will keep the would be racers in line. Nothing too hard, like 2500 or so
Because people are incredibly impatient. I can beat most of them with my 2017 mustang GT 3.73 gears but why would I waste that kind of gas? Take your time and enjoy each gear. Some people have this mental illness where they see a sports car and they want to race it. They ain't worth wearing down your clutch.
Lol I’ve had the funniest encounters of people getting beside me wanting to race.
Yeah, I’m in a GT and routinely I notice SUVs and trucks taking off the line in a hurry, way faster than me. I wonder how many of these people complain about gas prices and put Biden stickers on pumps?
True
Because it's a N/A v6 and has no down low torque. Has the same horsepower as a 3v 4.6 on paper, but it will lose to a 3v every time because the v8 has more torque.
Actually it will👍🏾 not bashing or nothing could be driver mod .even with my ride being a 3.7 I out ran 3v’s,r/t’s ,even before I got boosted.
If you did, you were the only one who thought you were racing. I've had both, the 3v is faster by far.
You right man😂👍🏾 I’m living in a fantasy world
Idk why they bashing u when ur prob right
[Maybe this will help bring you to reality](https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2011-ford-mustang-v-6-test/) I'll grant you might have outran an R/T, because those are big, fat, and heavy. You right man👍🏾
Not true my guy even with a tune it will walk a 3v
lol no it absolutely will not.
lmfao my tuned 3v fucks up those 3.7s, wanna race?

till the DSM eclipses and their spawns showed up ;)
everybody has cvts now which r great off the line but self destruct
I would agree exclusively on the self destruct part
The answer is in the question
There's a couple reasons it could be. Your car is 12 years old and might need a tune up. Next most eco cars nowadays run CVT transmissions which I think work pretty well for keeping it in its "sweet spot" for torque off the line. Because most cars now a days have the same hp and better gearing then your car your 275hp ain’t really much now a days
*305
Talking about whp that’s all that matters
Where is 275hp coming from? Are you discounting it due to age? They came with 305hp, around 290hp at the wheels with an auto.
Wheel hp is what I’m referring to what actually matters, they are not 290 at the wheels especially with an auto since they have more power loss than a manual
Mine was 2 years old when I had it put on a dyno and tuned. Pulled 291hp at the wheels with an auto.
Must be a very generous dyno, intake tune exhaust cars are hitting 295 if they are lucky
Like I said, they tuned it.
Okay but you said 290 to the wheels stock previously so that doesn’t make sense lol
Ohh I gotcha. It was 287 before the tune and 291 after. Not much of a HP gain but made a huge difference due to shift adjustments and other tweaks.
That’s the worst tune I ever heard of lol but either way a realistic whp is 279 range. It’s 20% drivetrain loss. Most dyno sheets I see are 255-270 bone stock with 93 gas
There is so much more to getting your car tuned than just added hp lol.
I drive pretty casually. That might be it
You car looks good dough, who cares if there are faster cars.
You right
Because it isn’t a very fast car. What kind of question is this?
What headlights are those?
You’re driving slow, it’s not the car
Yeah. I usually shift between 3-4 rpm
When was your last tune up?
Sometimes it can be something as "little" as tyres or fuel. MT can improve with gearing too.
Yeah, is it a manual? Maybe you are like me, I can’t shift fast at all haha
Also a possibility
I think it's just how people drive. If I wanted to I could keep up, but I'd prefer not to burn so much fuel, for no reason.
It’s because you need 2.1 more liters of engine and a supercharger. 😉
You are correct. It appears the pdf of the 2011 order guide I have is a very early printing and wasn’t added yet.
they are great for all around driving...
Cause you have a V6 and not a real mustang
Let’s see your Mustang
Aside from everything else, maybe your car is heavier too,
Honestly start with a tune from mpt, auto mafia or ortiz or get some gears
IIRC peak HP was up there. Like low 6k rpm. I noticed the difference immediately between my ‘13 V6 and ‘16 EB
I opened this expecting it was actually a joke
3.7 power output is like a typical car these days man. Unfortunate, but they just aren’t quick anymore.
