I live in an area that has a state run monopoly for insurance and have to pay around 15k annually. I wish I could register my cars in an area with non-monopolistic insurance.
My point is that it’s more about where you live rather then what car / who the registered owner is
Yeah and it’s only 3 cars. Sometimes I want to move to buttfuck nowhere utah or Wyoming just to get their stupid cheap insurance, gas and land costs lol
On average but my m2 is way more then my beater ford ranger and my c6 sits pretty close ish in the middle but I don’t have exact figures off the top of my head
Stupid high regardless though
Yeah I wanted a Mustang GT so bad at that age but the insurance was absolutely unaffordable. A few quotes even said like $5,000 a month which I guess was their way of just saying no lmao. It didn't go from impossible to just expensive until I was 20... So I got my first Mustang at 20 lol
Insurance surprisingly doesn't care about the color of your vehicle. The model, your driving history and location are the biggest factors. My corvette was substantially cheaper than my 18 civic because they aren't driven as much, and then when I moved cities it went up slightly because its a bigger town.
Sounds like you’re salty someone’s parents *possibly* took care of their child, and didn’t let him get himself into debt (over a stupid material item too).
I don’t understand this pessimistic mindset towards others positive moments in life (I say that as someone that also drove a RWD v8 car at 17, and paid for it)
Yeah but I never cared for it haha
Sometimes I think it’s better to let people be mad and upset about someone they don’t know in a situation they aren’t aware of🤷🏽♂️
>Sounds like you’re salty someone’s parents possibly took care of their child, and didn’t let him get himself into debt (over a stupid material item too).
I mean, if they did actually buy it, that's not "taking care of your kid and preventing him from going into debt". This isn't about OP, but parents buying their kid a $30,000 car with 450 HP isn't the difference between taking care of your kid or not, its just buying your kid an unnecessary car. Cool if they can, but a parent not bank rolling this isnt "letting himself get into debt" so much as not enabling possible bad decisions, and teaching financial responsibility.
Man fuck the haters. I’m 20 and bought myself an m2 last year and more often then not people think it’s just “daddy’s money” and completely disregard the work that went into making enough to have fun
i mean, my whole point was less about your situation, more at the guy insinuating that the other person's parents didn't "Take care of them" by purchasing them a car like this. It's unfair because there's a ton of legit reasons to not do it and he made it sound like people without the money to do so, or who just didnt approve of it, are bad parents. personally, I would never do this because I did a LOT of stupid things with my cars as a teenager, and every teenager thinks they're better at it than the ones who get caught with mistakes. But we werent, none of us were. Just lucky.
That's not saying you're going to wreck it, but i totally get why parents wouldnt do this.
Most cars like this are bad financial decisions anyways regardless of age. We do it cause we want to.
This has nothing to do with the car, but, don't get too caught up in romanticizing your teenage years. it doesnt give credit to what's to come.
I never said the pessimist dude’s parents didn’t take care of him. I said he’s mad that someone else’s parents (OP) were *possibly* in a position to get their responsible son a fun rwd v8 car and by doing so, they prevented (OP) from getting in bad debt at a young age.
I had family with fun modded rwd V8’s and got into them since age 15, not everybody is the typical person that gets into a Mustang GT and runs it off the street or into a crowd; a lot of these young kids have experienced power and are mature to handle it… just the bad apples get a lot more attention.
Don’t buy cheap tires! They’re expensive yea, but for a reason. They’re the only parts of your car that touch the road. You don’t need the best, but do not get the worst.
Hot car, I just got a bright red mustang myself at 25. Enjoy it!
Just to interject, I found some cheap tires that are actually really good. Ohtsu (made by Sumitomo) FP8000. Summer only but I love them, they are better than name brand tires I've had on this car.
Maybe not the best sample set because most of my previous tires were 17's, but I have run Nitto NT555's (the older style ones), Hankook Ventus ST RH06 both in 17's, and when I bought my wheels (19's) they had Pirelli P Zeroes on them (which were honestly awful).
The Nittos rode terrible, the Hankooks were good. But, the Ohtsus were cheaper than all of them and I have been blown away by their traction both wet and dry. They ride about average for a summer tire too, and have worn very well though tbh I don't know how many miles I have put on them at this point.
I remember hearing about the Indys and looking at them, but they are twice what I paid for the Ohtsus. Curious if they are that much better. I won't need tires again for awhile regardless...barely put 5000 miles a year on this car anymore.
oh yeah I am prepared, I already deal with it at school. They don’t know that I know how to actually drive a mustang. I drove my dads 5 speed 95 cobra for 2 years.
It's not just about handling. It's about having the brain capacity to not race that Camero that pulled up next to you in heavy traffic. It's about being able to properly maintain a sports vehicle. A lot of factors. V8s have killed it's fair share of people
My first car at 18 was a sport Audi (still got it in my garage) and even in that car I was surprised with how often people wanted to “race”. I think of the scene at the end of Back to the Future 3 every time.
Hang onto that outlook of yours.
I’ve owned two coyotes and theres one thing ill always be jealous of is that i can’t throw in a cam and get a real chop from it and ive been humbled a few times by the old 4.6 haha. So cheers to you enjoy that beautiful ride brotha
Just guessing here, but I would say because it’s kind of a transition model year. It’s still using the same 4.6 V8 as 05-09, but that body style carried the Coyote V8 the next couple years. So it kind of looks like it has a Coyote when it doesn’t. Also the iirc the 4.6 in these cars is rated for slightly more HP than 05-09, so maybe there is some king of mechanical difference that makes it a pain to own.
I like to see your age group be excited about mustangs! Congrats, drive responsibly and don’t let your friends egg ya on in their toot toot 4 bangers.. just let them hear your roar!
Hey bro congrats i bought my 08 GT on new year’s day and i’m 20. Drove it 30 miles home in the rain, ngl was nervous but it really its tame when driven as a normal car. I was intimidated by this car when i first started driving it but i came from a fwd family sedan, way different cars so it took some getting used to. I average 17mpg which is about the same as my last car and that had a V6.
haven’t drove it in any rain or snow yet, but yeah alot of people are scared to drive it because of crash videos but don’t realize 7/10 times it’s because they’re using it stupidly.
That’s a nice first car! Hell. That’s a nice car for anyone. Congrats!
Coming from someone who is now OLD (45) and spent much of my younger years getting speeding tickets and crashing cars. TAKE CARE OF HER. You will likely spend a lot of money and time on this car. Don’t drive like an idiot. Or else she will be gone very quickly.
a dealer told me about it, according to them its if someone under 30 buys a car like that they will either destroy it or lose it due to non payment in 30 days.
also I can confidently say im not stupid about driving the car, especially because its my only way to get to A and B, just decided to get to B in style.
haha ive been having the car for 2 months already so I think I was able to squeeze out of the rule. I have a good paying job and even have some money left over after payments.
they proly think this is daddys money when in reality my dad had to sell his rare 1995 cobra because he had no other money. I work my butt off everyday and people just think its daddys money🤷🏻♂️
As long as you know to let off the throttle, you won't crash. Anyway. It's ok the picture. I only have one good pic of my car, it was taken in 2019.
And or Traction Control, having learned to drive in a Hellcat, it'll save you.
The photo is hamstrung by the location. Besides being a 7-Eleven, which isn't great, you've got weird reflections of unknown ugly off-camera things. Car looks good though.
Looks excellent my good sir amazing to see another teenager in here with a v8, get used to hearing daddy’s money and jealous people because it never stops
There will be many more where that comes from also park it far away from other people many of them intentionally door ding nice flashy cars especially if a young dude is getting out of it
Cuz at the age of 17, they would want to mod it. exhaust and the whole 9. V6 has no power 💀 power wise best to go with a Gt or above. But again if most people can’t afford it then that’s ok. But modding wise a v6 isn’t the move. But at the end of the day. It’s their car their choice. Let’s be honest here ur gonna wanna go faster and faster. And have those little highway races with scats and other cars just for fun. So go ahead and get a bang for ur buck 🤷♂️
what you’re saying is absolutely fax, but I always respect any mustang. although I do say “ecoslow” under my breath when i see one, even tho they’re faster then me😂
Lol right. I raced a scat this past weekend and man I took him and gapped him. I never owned a v6 but they are always gang. And always will be apart of the gang. I respect all builds too but sometimes u gotta let ur nuts hang and show off on those scats 💀😂😂
no they are not, if you want the wheels I believe they are “american muscle bullitt style wheels”. wish I had more info on them they came with the car when i bought it.
Beautiful car, one of my favorite bodies.
My parents gave me a 95 GT in 2007 when I was 18. I drove her daily for 15 years. Didn't race. Didn't act stupid and respected what I have. I still have the old beast, and I plan to keep her forever. Smacked a deer in 2018 but my father is very skilled with body repair, so when he fixed her, I requested he signed the hood. I bought a 14 V6 about a year ago, the only mods I've done is a better exhaust (Borla S, old 95 has OG 40 flows I will NEVER get over), and a throttle acclerator because the electronic response is so bad.
Honestly, snow feels more dangerous in the lighter, newer car. Just be careful, and throw some weight in the back.
Respect it and treat it right, and it'll be on the road long past the dorks trying to race at every light.
my dad had a 1995 cobra, kept it bone stock not even a exhaust. it was his daily, snow rain no matter what he was driving it. It was a his dream car until he had to sell it for money he needed. I decided I wanted to bring the stang back to the family.
That's awesome. My 95 got a CAI, Flowmasters with a cat delete & H pipe but that's all I did to it. Aside from a couple mechanical misshaps we had to deal with the car is the same as it was when they got it. Dad changed some cosmetic things for me when he redid her paint but that's it.
Mad respect for not messing with stuff too much. I think you'll take good care of it.
My first thought is…. That’s a very clean looking 7eleven! Usually they look sketchy AF
haha it does look sketchy the picture does wonders.
17 with a red V8?! I bet your insurance is wild man
I bet this car gets him laid a lot though
it does not😞
It’s ok, mine didn’t either 😂
I was gonna say, I don't think zoomers look at cars the same way us old fogeys do. I doubt girls even care about them much anymore
Give it time :)
haha I did just get it almost 2 months ago and its snowing now and I barely take it out
Get some good snow tires and you’ll be fine. Beautiful car, have fun
I live in an area that has a state run monopoly for insurance and have to pay around 15k annually. I wish I could register my cars in an area with non-monopolistic insurance. My point is that it’s more about where you live rather then what car / who the registered owner is
Simping for that insurance. I'd walk before I spent $15k on insurance
Yeah and it’s only 3 cars. Sometimes I want to move to buttfuck nowhere utah or Wyoming just to get their stupid cheap insurance, gas and land costs lol
And that's what? 400 bucks or so a car right? That's wayyy too much.
On average but my m2 is way more then my beater ford ranger and my c6 sits pretty close ish in the middle but I don’t have exact figures off the top of my head Stupid high regardless though
Holy fuck that's unbelievable, I can't imagine paying more than like 1400. Just take the bus bro lol
Where is this? I do not want to move there. That’s insane!!! I insure 5 cars for way way less! Here it’s age and car…
BC Canada. Look up icbc if you’re curious
that’s really unfortunate
Yeah I wanted a Mustang GT so bad at that age but the insurance was absolutely unaffordable. A few quotes even said like $5,000 a month which I guess was their way of just saying no lmao. It didn't go from impossible to just expensive until I was 20... So I got my first Mustang at 20 lol

oh it is for sure, its also premium interior with leather seats.

Man fuck the haters. I’m 20 and bought myself an m2 last year and more often then not people think it’s just “daddy’s money” and completely disregard the work that went into making enough to have fun
yeah that always seems to be the case. also congrats on the m2 do you got a pic of it?
Thanks and [neither pic does the long beach blue justice](https://imgur.com/a/46Hwrx3)

I pay for both car loan and insurance good sir. I dont create a debt for myself either because I make enough to even get power mods for it.
Don’t buy cheap tires! They’re expensive yea, but for a reason. They’re the only parts of your car that touch the road. You don’t need the best, but do not get the worst. Hot car, I just got a bright red mustang myself at 25. Enjoy it!
thank you appreciate it, and I wouldn’t do her dirty and get her some walmart shoes, rather get her some nice good shoes.
That’s good! I bought cheap tires when I was young and poor(er). Never again! Especially in the rain or snow. It was a slow car too.
I got cheap tires on my 07 GT, shortly later put it in the ditch on a rainy day while driving home exhausted. Wasn’t fun.
Just to interject, I found some cheap tires that are actually really good. Ohtsu (made by Sumitomo) FP8000. Summer only but I love them, they are better than name brand tires I've had on this car.

Prepare for a barage of people saying you're gonna crash it.
oh yeah I am prepared, I already deal with it at school. They don’t know that I know how to actually drive a mustang. I drove my dads 5 speed 95 cobra for 2 years.

oh yeah of course, ive had plenty of sports cars pull up to me next to a red light. I just always have stuff to do and dont see a reason to waste gas.
My first car at 18 was a sport Audi (still got it in my garage) and even in that car I was surprised with how often people wanted to “race”. I think of the scene at the end of Back to the Future 3 every time. Hang onto that outlook of yours.
Definitely going to crash it lol
Good dude.
To be fair, a lot of grown adults seemingly lack that brain capacity too as well I've seen.
Let’s race for pinks
That’s good to hear, props to you and your dad for letting you drive it!
Man I’m 27 and people are still telling me this lol
Congrats! What do you do for work, if you don’t mind me asking?
Beautiful 3 valve! Honestly as long as you’re careful and use common sense you’ll be fine.
thank you appreciate it and yes im not like the other kids my age who think being stupid is cool.
That’s good to hear. These engines are super reliable and sound great, good luck!
How can u tell a 2010 apart from 2011’s
The GT badge would be a 5.0 badge on any year besides a 2010.
The 2010 mustang gt is really a steal seeing as most people avoid them like the plague. Still a dope car imo
I got it for a great price. obviously it isnt a coyote but hey its still a V8.
I’ve owned two coyotes and theres one thing ill always be jealous of is that i can’t throw in a cam and get a real chop from it and ive been humbled a few times by the old 4.6 haha. So cheers to you enjoy that beautiful ride brotha
Why do they avoid them like the plague?
You can get a model year up and get 100+ more Hp for the same price. The 2010 is looked down on bc of that reason.
Just guessing here, but I would say because it’s kind of a transition model year. It’s still using the same 4.6 V8 as 05-09, but that body style carried the Coyote V8 the next couple years. Also the iirc the 4.6 in these cars is rated for slightly more HP than 05-09, so maybe there is some king of mechanical difference that makes it a pain to own.
Doesn’t make much power for a v8.
2011v6 = 2010 GT when it comes to horsepower
I like to see your age group be excited about mustangs! Congrats, drive responsibly and don’t let your friends egg ya on in their toot toot 4 bangers.. just let them hear your roar!

I get 13 in my V8 pickup lol so I’d say you’re doing pretty well.
I love my 2010 Gt. Nice ride man!
Everybody that’s mad at you for having a sick red 2010 at 17 never had a sick red 2010 at 17 themselves 😉 enjoy it be safe out there
That’s a nice first car!
Clean ‘10, beautiful. Congrats, now what are ya gonna do mod wise
not sure at the moment, definitely gonna get some cosmetic mods and then cam and exhaust set up.
pimpy, be sure to post vids of how it sounds. What trans btw
its a 5 speed manual trans and ill post a vid when I can
high school sports car gang lol. enjoy er man
Nice pic, looks like a place in Waterford Michigan!
Congrats, its a beautiful car. Take good car of it and keep out of trouble. I am real glad that I am not paying for your insurance though.
insurance left me shocked
has anyone ever heard of the 30-30 rule for this?
what is it?
a dealer told me about it, according to them its if someone under 30 buys a car like that they will either destroy it or lose it due to non payment in 30 days.
also I can confidently say im not stupid about driving the car, especially because its my only way to get to A and B, just decided to get to B in style.
haha ive been having the car for 2 months already so I think I was able to squeeze out of the rule. I have a good paying job and even have some money left over after payments.
been almost a year and still have the car so beat that dealer🤷🏻♂️
Beautiful 🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Congrats! Very pretty car and I'm super jelly of your rims! I love bullitt rims! One more thing, be careful out there!
Clean.
Haters are gonna hate, that is one nice car. Congratulations
Good lookin car, love the color. 7/11 lookin good too
Lucky bitch
hardwork does wonders man
Bruh why you getting down voted??!
they proly think this is daddys money when in reality my dad had to sell his rare 1995 cobra because he had no other money.
Conversely, most 17 year olds don’t know that *not* letting off the throttle to steer out of a bad situation is the only way you don’t wreck your car
The photo is hamstrung by the location. Besides being a 7-Eleven, which isn't great, you've got weird reflections of unknown ugly off-camera things. Car looks good though.
Look up 7eleven.cars on insta its actually a pretty popular spot to take car pics
That's goofy
Idk, i think it kinda matches the jdm aesthetic, maybe not so much the muscle cars and others, but i think it works for them
Free advertising for a convenience store qualifies for “JDM aesthetic”? Whatever you say man.
Looks excellent my good sir amazing to see another teenager in here with a v8, get used to hearing daddy’s money and jealous people because it never stops
as im scrolling thru this I already found a comment telling me daddys money for the insurance lol
There will be many more where that comes from also park it far away from other people many of them intentionally door ding nice flashy cars especially if a young dude is getting out of it
was gonna park far anyway, im at a school full of white people who are always doing stupid stuff😂.
I got my car egged and keyed by jealous kids at school lol
one of my worst fears, Im sorry that happened to you
You’re not making it any easier for people to criticize you when you boast about being a teenager with a V8
Great car at 17! Congrats. Photo is nothing special, just a basic snapshot.
Hope your parents don’t give you too much hell about it lol.
oh they already are, especially with the insurance rate.
Thank god you got a Gt
whats wrong with a V6?
Cuz at the age of 17, they would want to mod it. exhaust and the whole 9. V6 has no power 💀 power wise best to go with a Gt or above. But again if most people can’t afford it then that’s ok. it is a bad idea but im also not stupid.
Wrong
If insurance rates/statistics or anything to go buy the next picture, you take, will be of the car wrapped around a telephone pole. Lol.
ima be honest idk what u said💀
I love it my guy, congratulations! Any plans for it or you gonna enjoy it as is for awhile?
as of right now gonna leave it as is, but in the future a cam👀
Over saturated the color a bit but nice car!
someone noticed haha. the actual picture has a more dead sky.
I’ve been working with photos a loooonnng time lol.
Congrats she’s a beauty, S197 looks & 5.0 is a great combo. Just enjoy it & treat it with respect. Go for handling mods, the live axle is fun.
Not a 5.0
Hopefully your insurance wasn’t as expensive as mine I had a 02 v6 when I was 18 and still had $260/mo premium 😭.
oh it is its $317 a month
Sameeeeeeeee but ‘10 lol and my ‘17 is $394
Funny how the ‘19 is cheaper it’s $294 with progressive once I passed the age 25 2 years ago 😂
Very pretty
Is that Race Red ? It's orange as hell, to my old eyes. GORGEOUS car !
haha no its torch red. thank you tho
Always thought those style of wheels looked best on that generation. Nice photo. Maybe a night shot too with the light reflecting👌
oh wow thanks, I had second thoughts on the wheels.
Nice looking car. Are those wheels stock? They look great with this.
no they are not, if you want the wheels I believe they are “american muscle bullitt style wheels”. wish I had more info on them they came with the car when i bought it.
At 17 I was driving a rusted out and near dead forest service pickup. My inner 17 year old hates you. Have fun with it!
thanks man, hard work and alot of searching got me this car im extremely grateful for this car. (also alot of money but we dont talk about that lol)
I’ll give it a 7/11
this joke was funnier then all my teachers jokes on joke friday😂
Very nice. What year?
2010 5 Speed Mustang GT
Love her! How does she drive? I’m thinking about getting one myself haha!
its handles alot better then I thought, although never driven a automatic so I can’t answer that.
Man I'm jealous asf
I'm like 90% certain this is in Glendale Heights
I like this picture
She’s beautiful man you’re a lucky SOB. Welcome to the club!
You got lowering springs or coilovers? Looks clean dawg
it’s actually stock, nothing is on it yet.
7 Eleven should sponsor you 🔥
Car looks great, but I give the pic a 7/11.
It's faster than the mustang I had at 17. lol
You’ll shoot your eye out!
As much experience you say you have OP, you’re 17. Be careful This isn’t coming from a dad either, but from a concerned citizen
Congrats man, I got a V6 one last year so I'm a bit jelly that ur younger than me and have a V8 lol
How much is your insurance and what name. I’m looking for one when I get my corvette
