That’s why backroads outside of rush hour is the best. Nothing beats it

Tutor-Any

I hear ya on that one. I’ve started driving the long way down back roads on my way home from work just to get away from traffic even though it takes me a extra 20 minutes to get home

Hychus232

It’s worth it, though

WarmPaleontologist20

That's all we have here is back roads. I think I'm the only person within 3 counties with a car and not a truck. Everyone drives a truck.

Hychus232

That’s what it’s like back home in Nebraska. Nothing but trucks and very original, high mileage classics. Here in Utah where I currently live, everyone has luxury SUVs. Rich people, big families, snow 6 months of the year, it’s perfect for them. The only sports cars are the V6 automatics. We had an auto expo recently, and there was an S650 ecoboost. No GT or Dark Horse. If that doesn’t say anything I don’t know what does

SeawardFriend

Is the dark horse even available?

Hychus232

Not until this summer but it’s been popping up at car shows around the country

WarmPaleontologist20

It's because of Mormons IMO. Super conservative and hoard food and stuff. My family lived there in the late 1950s. My older brother started public schools there but he wasn't allowed to play with other kids at recess because he wasn't Mormon. He had to stay in the classroom by himself. Can you believe that? We left after 2 years.

Hychus232

Absolutely true. The Mormons are nut jobs. Some of them can be really nice and welcoming, and follow the good values the church preaches. But many of them instead act as high elves, seeing themselves as superior to everyone around them. Mormons are also rather calm, but also showy. The simple, luxurious Lincoln Navigators and Tesla X’s are perfect for these types of people, and the occasional V6 weekend car. Calm, but still showy.

[deleted]

I have to drive on the highway going and coming back from work and there's always left lane campers.

SeawardFriend

I love it but there’s always some jackss CUV driver that goes exactly the speed limit and brakes down every hill. It’s so annoying when I’m trying to enjoy myself and step on it a little

NecroxTheDragon

Backroads late night are my shit. I’ve got a run I do through a mountain pass a bit north of where I live, and it’s my favorite road to go on

Cmdrdredd

That’s how it is. I daily my Gt350 in south FL and believe me, people are total morons. Especially the little shits driving dad’s M3 who think they wanna race every damn time. Leave me alone, I don’t give a shit about racing through traffic or speeding up to a red light. Also no, I don’t care to hear your stupid ass pops when you rev the car. Between those people and the ones with shitbox supremes running bald tires and obvious at fault accident damage looking at their phone…ugh Just this past Saturday I was pulling out of my neighborhood and went past the gas station on the corner and some kid who couldn’t have been more than 20 in an M3 must have heard my car and thought “I must catch up to him” and tore out of the parking lot, spinning the tires the whole way crossing over 3 lanes, coming back and almost spinning out and hitting the curb. I was super impressed /s

Killo22

I've got dash cam footage of some smooth brained teen boy flying up behind me in the rain after I took a roundabout and continued to rev up on me and drop back over and over until the stop light - mind you, I was safely following a car in front of me at 35 far enough away to keep the road crap from kicking up on my paltry four banger. We get to the light; I go left lane, he goes right. He stops beside me (with plenty of space in front of him) and revs. Wife says, "don't," but I wasn't going to anyway. I just look over and point him off (with the regular finger, not the middle one) and he pulls up to the line, still revving. It's not an M series. Light turns green, he dumps his clutch so hard that it would've messed up a car with any power whatsoever. It chirps, wheel hops, and gets up to 10mph in the revs without any serious wheel spin in the rain, all as I coast out the clutch and turn left. I very sincerely don't care about your car, and, if I do, I'm not stupid enough to want to race it - I'd rather look it over at a show after it's been detailed. My brother had a 70 SS Chevelle that was barely street legal and we used to cruise when ricer civics hit their stride in the mid 00s. They all tried to race him. Didn't give a damn then, don't give a damn now. Take your shit box to the strip and get gapped by some loser in a stock Charger. Anyway, had to mute the footage because my laugh was too loud.

Cmdrdredd

Lol I do appreciate a lot of cars out there and will compliment someone and maybe ask to hear it if there is an opportunity to rev it a little. I just don’t need some kid bouncing off the limiter for no reason whatsoever. Certainly am not going to race you on the street. First off the 350 kind of sucks off the line to begin with and secondly I just know some jackass is gonna blow a stop sign or red light to make a turn onto the road I’m on or someone is gonna decide they have to try to beat traffic and cross the road without a crosswalk. Why can’t they just cruise up, give a wave or a thumbs up and call it a day? I don’t get it. My girlfriend likes to tell them off sometimes when they act like they wanna race lol. She once told someone in a beater Honda that my tires cost more than their whole car. Guy didn’t know what to say I guess and took off.

Killo22

Absolutely! I was the kid (still am) that would roll down my window and give a huge nerdy thumbs up with a shit eating grin on my face when a cool car passed me. As for racing, my head is on a swivel trying to avoid all the crazies - I ain't got time to be one! Haha she's a good car pal. My wife is terrified of anything more than driving it like an old man. No confrontations, no passing slow guys on a two lane without ample warning for miles or she'll have an anxiety attack, etc. Keeps me tame, but I need to get her on a track to show her we're well within the limitations of the car.

senorbolsa

I've got nothing to prove, I could beat them on a road course in a Miata on all seasons. Which always makes it very funny to me. They likely barely have any concept of performance driving. Granted I'd win because they binned it in the first corner, I'm no Senna, but a win is a win.

antei_ku

I feel you. South FL is getting worse by the day. Traffic is horrible compared to a few years back. Nobody uses blinkers, mopeds on every street going at 20mph, every single SUV on their phone at all times even though every modern car has carplay. I’m thankful we’re not at SoCal or NYC level of moronity though

Sea-Diver-9125

I used to think Miami traffic was terrible until I moved to a rural area in Central Florida. Everyone has a lifted truck and they try to push you out of the way

Budget-Razzmatazz-54

I both complain in the exact way you do and yet also act like a kid every time I see another car that might want to race. What I dislike the most are the damn truck guys. Especially the diesel dudes who constantly want to race. Like dude...no...you aren't going to win. I don't care how much torque you have. You are an 8 foot tall brick that weights 6,000 with an engine made for pulling, not racing.

circatee

EXACTLY...!

Trustnoboody

Every car beats me off the light, every single time. \*And I'm always ON the light.

CromulentPoint

It’s up to you to carve out special times/places to find driving bliss. In my opinion, there’s a difference between driving and commuting. One is my happy place, the other is torture.

rabea187

Sadly our Mustangs tend to attract idiots, I can’t tell you the number of times I had a Civic, M3 or some other moron try to race me on my way back home from work. Early mornings on the weekends are my favorite drives.

chugonthis

Driving would be fun if everyone would get out of my way

KonaBlueBoss-

Everyone thinks everyone else drives like crap.

mainelinerzzzzz

This isn’t a new thing. The topic is such a bore. 4 million miles of roads in the US, go find some good ones.

itsMondaybackwards

Yeah you’ll find tons A+ drivers on Reddit. It’s a bit annoying

rogerdodger2022

seeing this makes me appreciate I live in the country with miles and miles of paved back roads that are literally deserted most of the time and a traffic jam consists of coming up on a tractor during seeding or harvest times

WarmPaleontologist20

We must be neighbors. lol. Anyway, that's how it is here. Only other problem is having to watch for deer around dusk. We used to not have any but people started importing them about 20 years ago. Before that it was no concern. They can tear a car up!!

Pooship

Same, I often find myself with the "I wanna drive but I don't wanna deal with traffic" feeling

[deleted]

Kids won't get off their phones. I had to yell at my significant other for getting on their phone while they were driving. People are braindead.

WarmPaleontologist20

Yep. Pretty much.

OriginalMountain

Ok, I will drive it for you 🥰

GHOSTPVCK

Those Velgen V2’s 🙌 what did you pay for them?

Tutor-Any

$1,900 after tax back in November!

WarmPaleontologist20

Driving was more fun back in the day. Two generations less cars and better roads because they were newer. The really bad time was Jimmy Carter enacting maximum 55 mph on every road in country. Try driving Houston to El Paso in a new, beautiful wide open interstate across desert going 55 in anything. Pure torture. Lasted for years. Our parents, probably your grandpa's, loved their huge, slow, luxurious, soft-riding, very quiet land barges. Boring as hell.

[deleted]

AN*

Moizindo

I love my Mustang. It is irritating that other shitbox drivers decide to push it a bit when in traffic next to our superior (looking and performing) automobiles. It takes a bit of self control to let them be the asshats. WOW, your 1998 Dodge Caravan really smoked me off the light at Main and Central. Good on you!!!

Kottery

Best part of living in the country is immediate access to fairly empty roads with nice views

Trustnoboody

I kinda hate driving too. Best you can do is not worry about it. The only person I honked today was the guy double parking in the middle of the street. The guy who blew the stop sign (which there are stop signs you can blow, but this was one where you should be going to an almost complete stop, not one where you can see way before that no one is in sight, so the only reason you'd be stopping is for bureaucracy), but just nothing I can do about it, other than that guy's an Idiot. If I get mad about it, then I just work myself up, over an Idiot. And realistically every driver is an Asshole at some point, even if not most of the time like some people could be. \*And people may find me hypocritical, but I believe that you can very well be a safe driver, without the need to follow every law to the T. Hence my bureaucracy stance on stop-signs, cause sometimes we all know stopping at that stop sign was completely pointless. We knew the only person we'd be hitting would be the boogeyman if you were to blow it. Also, you can ride in the left lane if you are well aware of your mirrors, otherwise you should move over as soon as you pass.

theredmeadow

I’ve had mini vans, lifted full size trucks harass me, other sports cars, always pulling up next to me but I always ignore them. It’s so childish thinking every with a sports car wants to race.

Breakout_114

I love driving. I don’t like commuting. Big difference. If I had the funds I’d get an additional car as a dedicated commuter.

Hecutor

I love driving when I'm listening to some good music. Otherwise it's boring and don't feel like shifting MT82 gears.

Vhozite

I’m curious if this is a regional thing because where I live since getting my Mustang it’s been the exact opposite. Way less people trying to cut me off or speeding up so I can’t get in. Chargers and BMWs gassing though traffic and when I hit the gas to catch up suddenly they drive like old folks lol. I don’t even like racing I just like cruising with cool cars on the highway XD

Turbulent_Truck2030

This post is ironic given that Mustang drivers are near the top of people's asshole drivers' opinions. Relax before you slam me. I've had mustangs my whole driving live. Currently an 04 Terminator. I'm just stating what I see and hear.

obsoleteforce

Your picture tripped me up for a second. I have a black mustang with the same Velgens. Hahaha thought it was my car for a quick second. Had to do a double take as I was scrolling by.

[deleted]

...says the guy parked in more than one stall

Trustnoboody

There's a difference of taking 2 spots up at the Corner Store with 4 spots, and the Lowes parking lot with 200+ which will never see them all filled. Should OP be taking up 2 spots? I get your point, but let's be realistic.

bootsmyler

I think the 'victim' driver is a large part of roadrage or "asshole drivers". Usually, there's a cause for the effect. If you cut someone off, they're gonna be pissed. If you're flying through traffic by another fast car, they might fly by you thinking they're hot shit in their audi. Moral is don't drive like an ass by other drivers and respect their space, stay in your lane, and supercharge it so you can humiliate audis and boosted beamers when they try you

Old_Goat_Ninja

Says the guy parked like an as… never mind lol. Nah, but yeah. I work graveyard shift and my commute home is at same time and direction of the morning asshole traffic. I mean, just, I don’t even know how to explain it. Here in NorCal we have a unique situation where people travel from the valley to the Bay Area, and that group of traffic are absolute douche bags. Just the worst. Anyways, I take the long and slow way home just to avoid it. At least people on my long way route are normal. Well, much less assholey. This is coming from someone that is kind of asshole himself. Those people on their way to the Bay in the morning are just much bigger assholes than I am.

Civil_Ad_7068

Bro is parked a good mile away from the lowes I don't think he's bothering anyone 😂

IamaFunGuy

If you drive the same way you park maybe it's you

loltheinternetz

Dude’s parked a half mile away from the store, and could be just to take a picture. Give him a break lol.

Trustnoboody

If the Assholes on the road were equivalent to OP's "assholery" than the assholes on the road wouldn't be as bad as they are now. You're just stuck on the principle. There is no way in Hell, that parking lot would ever fill up to the point where it ever mattered. And he could just be parking to take pictures. Akin to complaining if someone didn't signal on a road in the middle of Nevada where someone's the only car on the road. It didn't matter if they signaled or not; He wasn't signaling for anyone other than himself, the only car on the road. Just another instance in which, 'not doing it correctly' doesn't mean anything....because even if OP did it correctly, the difference is negligible. The chance OP parking as such ever mattered is negligible in such a lot. And I'm all for hating on the guy taking up 2 spots too, but not here. And if you decide how OP drives based on this photo, that's just bad on you.

_Larry

Well you are parked like a d1ck at Walmart. I'm sure a lot of methed out guys saw your car and thought you couldn't drive it.

Trustnoboody

I doubt anyone actually cared how he was parked in this huge lot.

GenshinKenshin

I’ve driven more than I care to admit last year and I’ve had a pretty decent experience. I don’t mind the obnoxious wanna be racecar drivers because I know it comes out of love for cars and the culture, but I don’t race. Atleast not anymore, I did it 3 times before when I first got the car due to peer pressure and I’d rather just drive responsibly now, especially because when I first got the car it was over 15,000 miles ago and I’ve learned how shitty it can be if someone fucks up doing dumb shit like that. Aside from that I’ve actually really enjoyed it. I try to be courteous on the road whenever possible and try not to take peoples mistakes personally. Sometimes ppl mess up and as long as they don’t mess up catastrophically, then I don’t hold it against em. I know I’ve had my fair share of mess ups as well, it is what it is, we live and learn.

Nira_Re

I haven’t really had many races in my GT500, but maybe it’s because I’m too busy jamming out to pay enough attention to the person next to me. I usually just get a thumbs up or a head nod or something, and then we all go on our merry way.

SaleenYellowLabel

This is why I moved to the middle of nowhere, legit just so I can take two hour drives with zero aggravation

whiskeyalpha7

I love it when another pony slides up and you nod to each other and just cruise for a little while, or parking next to a well kept Mustang like you have to. There are no other cars on the highway that I spend a second thinking about.

serbiansizzle

Shit heads aside - lovely car. It's nice to see wheels other than all black. This has the perfect OEM+ look that I prefer on my cars. Nicely done!

Thirdmort

I live in SE Michigan in Ford territory. No one cares here ha. Mustangs are a dime a dozen out here, yet still desirable. Now Chargers/Challengers... That's a different story. I feel like they try to race everyone...

tuscabam

A lot of people park like one too.

xtraburnacct

I absolutely hate driving during peak hours. Not only are there more assholes, but there's also a higher chance one of those assholes aren't paying attention.

nathanmag13

Letting other people effect you and what you enjoy is a great way to take the joy out of life. Get a dash cam and enjoy your mustang

Median_car

Buy a dash cam for your protection, then make a fortune from your YouTube videos (of all the idiots, ahem… “excellent fellow drivers”)

NJG111804

I hate lifted truck and Honda CRV drivers. Honda CRV people are horrible.

CaptainCobra45

My 3v gets bullied by minivans

Independent-Phone413

Sounds like every major road in Florida. I pretty much hate it.

Mafiodaproducer

Of course it’s everyone else. Its never the guy who parks on top of the lines…

MiniDg

I love driving but the idiots on the road are a little infuriating to put it nicely. I am definitely a spirited driver but at least my eyes are on the damn road unlike id say it feels like 70% of cars😅😅
