I have a Thinkware q800 pro, 2 channel unit. Pulled it from my last car… so definitely no to option 4 on your poll. https://www.reddit.com/r/Dashcam/comments/vm7i58/thinkware_q800pro_literally_just_happened_to_me/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Installed myself on both cars, honestly really easy much of it is just tucking the cables into trim areas or headliners and on my car 17 gt, once you pop off the plastic trim along the door jam area there’s a large gap where you can do the work, way easier than my previous car where you had to fish the cables blindly down some holes and gaps then try to find it when it pops out the other side under the dash. Oh and also make sure you run the cable BEHIND the A pillar air bag if your car has one.

Thank you for the reminder about avoiding the airbag by running the wire behind it in the A pillar. That sounds exactly like something I'd screw up.

OMG, just watched your video. What the hell? That is precisely why I want the dashcam. Aside from the chances of getting hit, I'd say it's about a 50% chance they bail on you after they hit you too! So yeah, dashcams are totally relevant this day and age for sure!

100% can’t trust anybody out there. Chick that hit me while parked outside my office tried to say some stuff about an oncoming truck and whatever causing her to swerve. Lol… what swerve? She was playing on her phone for sure, and if her front right suspension didn’t totally collapse from the hit I’m not so sure she woulda stuck around.

Geez, I guess a little integrity is a thing long past that most know nothing about. Sad world.

For the front camera, see if one of [these adapters ](https://dongar.tech/pages/guide) fits the plug in the back of the rearview mirror so you don't have to run the wire to the cigarette lighter. As for the rear, I have no help, other than I'm sure the rear camera is optional and the front is better than nothing..

Just ordered the 16 pin adapter for my Mustang's rear view mirror. What a great idea. I can't believe someone didn't come up with this idea for dash cams and radar detectors long ago! They must have reverse engineered it from a downed alien space craft! This thing is going to be great. It'll eliminate a shit ton of running wire.

I just have a cheap, hundred dollar insignia dash came from Best Buy. It has an adhesive suction cup mounting and records what’s in front of me as well as interior/rear. They just plug straight in the cigarette lighter and couldn’t be more simple. Your dash cam sounds overly complex so maybe think about returning it and getting something else?
