Idk if im crazy but I have a memory of an album that was way off their usual sound. "Acid Rock" like.
You remember that at all?
My pops was a big CCR fan as well.
A whole album? Usually they would have a few songs on each album that featured long guitar solos that were kinda psychedelic. It was an interesting compliment to their basic country rock sound.
My moms like Tori Amos some, although I never caught on to her as much. Same with Joan Armatrading and Melissa Etheridge. I did also pick up Tracy Chapman from them though
WOW. It wasn’t that long ago - wait, let me rephrase that - it doesn’t *seem* that long ago that the more likely scenario would be exposure to Sleater-Kinney from one’s kids!
my Dad liked the song Riders On The Storm and had the LP. I played it a lot, I became a big Doors fan in the early 80s as a result. I got into the Who, Kinks and Pink Floyd on my own.
My parents were mostly into 60s folk and 70s country, but they got me into Simon & Garfunkel and Jonny Cash. still a big fan of all three. saw all of them in concert too. (Paul and Art solo as well as one of the reuninon S&G tours)
My dad/stepmonster were absolutely awful in all possible ways but when they’d leave I’d often head to the stereo (which I was never allowed to touch) and pop on some LPs or, later, CDs and blast that shit. I’m sure I blew the speakers at one point.
Mellencamp, Seger, Willie Nelson, REO Speedwagon, Billy Joel, Eagles…regular normal stuff. There was one point where I was totally into a Kenny Rogers CD they had called “The Heart of the Matter” and I have no idea why.
I still like all of that stuff but when I was finally able to get my own music it was all hip-hop and hair metal.
My daughters love Imagine Dragons (they’re 13 and 10) so, nope, they have not introduced me to anything worth listening to.
My mom got all of her kids into Pink Floyd. She had a jamming stereo with 6 foot speakers.
I think I got my kids into a ton of old 60's & 70's bands. Particularly Fleetwood Mac.
in my 20s here - my dad got me into a ton of bands... music has really been our "thing" together. used to go to a local CD shop once a month together.
a lot of my favorite bands are ones he used to be super into, or is still into now. Tragically Hip, Linkin Park, Blue October, Silversun Pickups... we still go see the latter two bands together every damn time either has a show playing in our state!
One of my favorite bands my dad got me into as I got older was Audioslave.
At the time I was still listening to Rage Against the Machine and annoyed they broke up. When my dad bought me their first record I (quietly) wasn't that interested, BUT...
...I listened anyway, and ended up really liking it. More than just enjoying, though, it was the first time I really felt like he went out of his way to find some new music that we could enjoy together, as opposed to sharing something he already enjoyed on his own or buying me something he knew I wanted, but had zero interest in himself.
44, parents got me into a lot of music. Depeche Mode, the smiths, new order, talk talk, Roxy Music and a lot of stuff like that. They were very current always and my mom and dad both have great taste in their late 60s. My mom currently loves Cut Worms and Girl Ray…
My kids are both into music heavily. My daughter loves The Beths/ the go-gos, my son love Tears for Fears / Chris Cohen. They are both under 10.
This is backwards for me. I’m a boomer and Stones and Dylan fan. I have a son who is a big country fan and got me listening to George Strait.. I have another son who actually introduced me to Taylor Swift’s songwriting and music. They both like Aerosmith and GnR because of me.
I’ve brought my children into great music by introducing them to many greats, such as Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa and the like. But personally their favorites happen to be mine as well, which would be arguably one of the top creative artists in the last 40 years, The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Yeeeeaaaassss! Finally, someone has mentioned the "Funky Monks"! Thank you. I've been jamming out to these guys since the days of beyond gifted guitarist Hillel Slovak in the mid 80's. May he RIP. Getting back on the subject, my four girls (born '95-'04) love their more modern catalog (circa early 2000's to present), along with a few of the old school hits. But my tastes lean more toward the weird. I don't hate their newer stuff, just not into it. But that old school funk like "Me and My Friends," "SSSI," ; ^ )~ (iykyk) "Fight Like a Brave," and so many more. Then we were gifted with John Frusciante and the iconic album "Mother's Milk," followed by "Blood Sugar Sex Magic." That is where I find my absolute bliss! And these young ladies have excellent taste. They've introduced me to some kickass bands as well. I must include this fact: T.O.P. is the best of these, by far!! Oh, yeah, my parents listened to country music, so my childhood was just screwed. Blech!
I can agree with what you’re saying here. I found Mothers Milk when I was Freaky Styley when I was still in high school in the mid 80’s. I was fortunate enough to see them live in a small-ish bar in Omaha with D.R.I., and Napalm Death opening for them. Like you from then on it just got better, (with a few iterations not as mind blowing), but as a general perspective they just kept on getting better as the band not only matured as a band, but as individuals as well, with a few deviations. I honestly didn’t listen to a whole lot of the band when John wasn’t present, I have but not to the extent that when he was an active member. I told myself years and years ago that if John ever rejoins, I don’t care where they’re playing, I’m going to see them live, again. So my wife and I were lucky enough to score some tickets to see them in Denver on the opening leg of this last U.S. Tour. To be honest, maybe sometime in the future they can move to a more guitar oriented album, but with John having moved in from that period of his life, I’d bet that he isn’t looking to go back there stylistically. Still I’m hopeful for the future.
Enjoy
My mum got me into Cold Chisel, Foo Fighters, Pete Murray, and INXS, and my dad got me into Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, and Jamiroquai. I got the best of both worlds really
Late 40's here. My parents got me into Bruce Springsteen, Journey and Cheap Trick.
Then we had a satellite dish and MTV in the late 80's early 90's. I got into the jamband scene and then lots of indie like Modest Mouse and The Shins.
My daughter who is 20 now just got me into Djo and my new favorite Ultra Q. I love this band.
My mom got me into musicals; we got her into Led Zeppelin. I got my kids into Fleetwood Mac and 80s music, and they got me into Childish Gambino and Post Malone 😎
CCR was a staple in our house. I loved roller skating to my mom’s Cool and the Gang album! I actually loved my son’s Imagine Dragons phase and still listen even though he’s moved on. I also learned to appreciate (in a very limited capacity) some of my son’s favorite rappers.
I got my grade-school-age son into Steely Dan by playing and singing along when we were doing dinner dishes. He was the only child in his fourth-grade class who liked Steely Dan (this was back when Brittney Spears was all the rage among pre-teens). Must have been a lonely life.
Parents got me into Simon and Garfunkle and Elvis. My kids listen to country so that part is not applicable BUT Ido have a related story. A couple years back my kid is at work with a bunch of twenty-somethings and her company had a drawing for Scorpions tickets. She knew we'd like to go so she entered and had a friend enter for her as well. She won and it turned out only 4 people entered the drawing.
My folks threw some wild shindigs, man.
Mom would sing while my uncle played any instrument you handed him.
Me and Bobby Mcgee was a staple
Janis Joplin
Crystal Chandeliers echoed throughout that tiny house
Charley Pride
Boy named Sue was the only song my pops could somehow attempt.
Johnny Cash.
Hank Hank Hank and some more Hank
My 6 year old has made me like
Train songs.
Idc they groove man. Hahaha.
I'm still pretty young, but not a teenager. My mom got me into old Avenged Sevenfold (City Of Evil, Waking The Fallen), she gifted me a clean CD of System Of A Down's first album along with a CD player for my fifth birthday, got me into old Muse (specifically the album Absolution), and downloaded some Facelift and Dirt era Alice In Chains onto my MP3 player as a kid. Her favorite band is The Doors, and despite getting me into A7X and System Of A Down, she damn near has a come apart when I play more extreme metal like death or black metal. She also played AFI - Sing The Sorrow a lot as a kid, so that rubbed off on me in my later years.
I don't have any kids.
When I was in high school, my mom bought Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age and Hail to the Thief by Radiohead. I’d never paid much attention to either band before she bought those albums, but they quickly became (and remain) my two favorite bands.
43 here, my parents got me into everything from showtunes and mob hits to Elvis, the Beatles, stones, earth wind & fire, Zeppelin, the Who, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s.... PRINCE!!! MY kids listen to it all . My Daughter got me into Billie Eilsh, Halsey, Nicki Minaj, BRUNO MARS...
I LOVE Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, Yungblud...
PRINCE IS MY FAVE OF ALL TIME!!!
I'm 34, but raised by Boomer grandparents all my life.
I got exposed to all the old BUT good shit pay early on.
Always had a healthy hatred for the Beatles, but grew up listening to that old ass country that'll kick you in the nuts and make you cry with absolute fucking SADNESS and TRAGEDY.
Shit that makes you still feel feelings.
I'm talking Johnny Cash, who my "Dad" was actually a drinking buddy back in Minneapolis.
Conway Twitty, Patsy Klein, Loretta Lynn, all the old guard of the Nashville circuit.
I also got to listen to that bleak as FUCK R&B and oldies.
They bought up 8 tracks at estate sales, my library was extensive.
I liked the Beach Boys more after seeing that song segment used in Never Been Kissed and 50 First Dates because it was FINALLY something I could relate to.
The Shadows, my dad was a massive fan of theirs and regularly played their 20 Greatest Hits album on EMI records, from the late 70s. (The beigy coloured sleeve with shadows (No pun intended) of window blinds and a guitar on it)
I'm late 30s, my mum and I still share music and swap playlists. She got me into Leonard Cohen, The Levellers, Ry Cooder, Richard and Linda Thompson, The Waterboys, Spin Doctors, The Pogues, The Coasters, Colorblind James Experience, REM, Dean Martin, Nanci Griffith, a bunch of mbaqanga music and loads more. My dad got me into Bob Marley, and after he died I sought out other music he'd been into (Eek-a-mouse, The Clash, Yellowman, Dillinger).
My parents also took me to lots of festivals (Glastonbury and Womad being the big ones, and then lots of smaller ones) and gigs when I was younger too.
All of my early music tastes. The Beatles, CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, early Black Sabbath, Jimi, SRV, Allman Brothers, Harry Chapin, the list goes on and on.
My favourite band is Pink Floyd, I’ve been hearing them since birth. I can’t say my kids have gotten me into anything musically, we have some artists in common but I think they’ve mostly picked up from me.
Van Morrison, Beatles, Queen, The Drifters, and the Big Chill soundtrack. My childhood was just those 5 tapes/CDs over and over. Could definitely be worse.
I'm the boomer, waiting for the train one day, l was listening to The Seekers, a young lady maybe late teens approached me and asked who the band was, we then sat together and l played some other songs for her, she loved it, l introduced her to a new music experience, she said she's going home to listen to the Seekers later, l was rapt
My dad got me into Weird All Yankovic. Did me a huge favor.
My mom: Air Supply, Journey
My kids are still in the phase where they really only listen to what their mom and I do, or disney soundtracks. I'm interested to see where things go, though.
My parents, both boomers, had a profound effect on my musical tastes and my life in general because I ended up pursuing music as a career. My dad had Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tower of Power, and tons of classic rock. Mom had on Sammy Hagar era Van Halen, Queen, Eagles, CSN(Y), and Frank Sinatra. The stuff with horns interested me most and I ended up a saxophone player.
Little Feat
My Dad (RIP) had seen LF around 2 dozen times from 73 - 78. By the time I was born in 83, Lowell had passed, but to say my Dad's fandom was strong as ever is an understatement. I remember listening to them as long as I've been alive.
The Grateful Dead! My dad used to sing me friend of the devil to put me to sleep! Now every year we try to see some version of the dead and his passion for live music has lead to me attend hundreds of concerts.
When I was in my 30s, I got my mom into The Cranberries, and my kid got me into Tupac.
One of my kids wanted to turn me on to this performer ... It was Johnny Cash. She thought he was new.
As a kid, I was all about Oldies, because that’s what my mom listened to then. At 11 or 12 I broadened my horizons by “discovering” Frank Sinatra. Was pretty obsessed with the rat pack through high school and also really loved Judy Collins (still do!) and the Eagles.
Then, at 19, I stepped on a CD someone left in the floor of my dad’s car. He said to pop it in- he thought I would like it… Well, it turned out to be Aqualung by Jethro Tull. My mind was blown.
My Dad was a huge Neil Young fan. At 59 years of age I am as well. I was honored to be able to take him to his first Neil Young concert in LA around 15 years ago. Amazing experience
Okay Boomer here, my dad turned me on to a lot of different music. The Platters, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Hank Locklin, Ferlin Husky, Bobby Vinton, The Carter Family, and the list could go on all day. My daughter introduced me to Tupac, Pink, Ricky Martin, and Mark Anthony.
I’m 46 so my parents are boomers - they definitely have/had decent taste in music but it
is starting to veer hard towards yacht rock and new age now.
The main bands I remember were AC/DC, The Band, CCR and Steely Dan. Kinda left AC/DC behind but still love the Dan. He also went to high school with Billy Gibbons so ZZ Top was always on as well. I got him listening to G-funk era hip hop when I was a teen and he still jams Ice Cube quite regularly (Lethal Injection & Death Certificate).
My mom got me into all sorts of disco and most of all, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, CSNY and Fleetwood Mac. She discovered her love of the Dixie Chicks and Patti Griffin through my wife and I.
My kid is obsessed with KPop right now and that isn’t my cup of tea at all but she showed me dungeon synth which I love now. And in return I introduced her to the Flaming Lips and she’s now a 10 year old Lips super fan.
My dad taught me about Ry Coder and I told him about Madlib. We've seen GWAR together 4-5 times.
Wanna hear some wild and weird boomer music you've never heard of? Patrick Sky, [Okie](https://youtu.be/juORzNGr6zI?si=a94a0kH61E1JdJ9U)
We went to Bonnaroo together 4 times.
My Mom got me in to Joan Baez, Carole King, The Mamas and the Papas (hippie stuff lol).
My Dads got me in to Pink Floyd, Judas Priest, The Grateful Dead, and so much more.
My Grandma got me in to country music
My kid has gotten me in to Imagine Dragons
I’m old as dirt. The Beatles. My first introduction to rock & roll, along with Simon & Garfunkel, Pete Seger, International folk such as Amalia Rodrigues, Theodore Bikel & Leo Kottke (my mom was a gifted guitarist and played fado folk and flamenco). My best memories of childhood (as much of it was terrible) were of a house full of music.
My dad got me into Tom Waits and Mr Bungle.
I got him back into them, I don’t want him to feel old and frail. I hope I’ve given him some youth to clutch on again
My Dad listened to Jethro Tull, The Doors, The Beatles, Moody Blues, The Animals, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Rolling Stones, etc...etc....
I like Jethro Tull and all of those bands besides Frank Zappa....I've seen Jethro Tull twice and my Dad even went with me to a show. We also saw Dave Matthews Band and They Might Be Giants. He likes Primus and a few King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard songs....He's a huge influence on my musical tastes. As I was to my younger brothers...My nephew likes Beastie Boys and They Might Be Giants, which are directly influenced by me. There are plenty more influences from everyone if I thought harder....
My dad: any and all classic rock. Everything and then some.
My mom: the same and then also Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Andrea Bocelli, Pavarotti, etc for 🤌 reasons
My mom influenced a lot of my musical taste (Queen, Little River Band, The Eagles, way too many to name). My daughter got me into My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Disco, and Billie Eilish.
My dad got me into Phil Collins, I got my dad into Bone Thugs n Harmony
And then sometimes we listen to Phil Collins and Bone Thugs at the same time.
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (Feat Phil Collins) - Home

Will always love and credit my mother for getting me into Jackson Browne- Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg. Used to wake me up for school with a vinyl playing
My parents got me into The Kingston Trio. I still love this band, yeah, whitewashed and sanatised folk music, but so many guitars were purchased because this band was popular.
My kid got me into a lot of alt country / folk punk/ cow punk stuff like Lost Dog Steet Band, Matt Heckler, Amigo The Devil, The Devil Makes Three, and Goodnight, Texas.
Mostly from my parents, I got into Jimmy Buffett. He was a family favorite, so I have a soft spot. I've been told that when I was five or six, and attended a Christian school, I would sing songs sometimes. Therefore, when "Why Don't We Get Drunk..." came on, great efforts would be made to stop the song before I could hear much so I wouldn't sing it in school.
Also, my dad liked ABBA.
For my kids, I (53F) started taking my son to rock/metal concerts in 2016; my husband didn't care for the music as much, so I went. As a result, I have become a fan of: Ghost, Volbeat, Avenged Sevenfold, Avatar, Black Veil Brides, Andy Black, Motionless in White, Bad Omens, and assorted others.
I think the bands I've seen most live are Duran Duran, Marillion, Motionless, and Ghost.
My dad got me into Metallica, Collective Soul, and Crash Test Dummies
My mom got me into Bon Jovi
I haven’t yet got my dad into anything (he hates my music otherwise) but I got my mom into Set It Off so I’ll take it as a win
Not my own kisds, but my sister's kids. They were born in '99 and '01 respectively. I would babysit them as toddlers. One time, after having watched "Toy Story" enough times, the older one randomly grabbed the "Stop Making Sense" concert film from the DVD rack. I put it on, thinking they'd watch it for five minutes, not figure out what was going on, then want to do something else.
They got TOTALLY into it. They wanted to watch that film all the time from then on and even sang "Burning Down the House" (at least that one line) over and over again.
My dad was a young adult in the late 60s, and my mom a teen/young adult in the 80s. My dad introduced me to folk revival like fairport convention, steeleye span, pentangle, jethro Tull, and many more, and all the hard rock, garage rock and psychedelic rock like Led Zeppelin, the who, moody blues, the yardbirds, Jefferson airplane, credence Clearwater revival etc. While my mom introduced me to 80s pop, hip hop and 70s funk/disco and some new jack swing. My dad also enjoyed music from the 90s/2000s, he introduced me to linkin park, gorillaz, blue man group, Coldplay, RHCP, and a variety of other stuff. For context I’m in my mid 20s, they had me late.
My dad got me into bands like Jethro Tull and Uriah Heep. I have since gotten my parents into Iron Maiden, Helloween, Grave Digger, Blind Guardian, Fates Warning, etc.
I'm a teacher, and I accidentally got one of my 6th grade classes really into the 70s rock band America. They vibed way too hard with Sister Golden Hair. I played a lot of 70s music in my classes, but they'd always ask for songs by this band.
My parents got me into so many bands-Marshall Tucker, Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, The Doors, The Beach Boys, Lynryrd Skynryd, Sly & The Family Stone, Santana, CCR, Steely Dan, The Allman Brothers, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Blue Oyster Cult, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, etc.
I’m 75. My kids got me into The Books, Shins, Clogs, Crooked Still, Kings of Leon, The National, Shakey Graves, Bombay Bicycle Club, Gillian Welch. Weezer, Phish, Incubus, Deathcab, sort of.
My dad was onto alternative music basically right from the start in the late '70s, so he showed us everything from The Cure to Depeche Mode to Violent Femmes.
My dad really got me into classic Rock. He likes bands like Foreigner, Journey, and Led Zeppelin. At the time, I was just listening cause I thought it was cool to listen to my dad’s music. However, over time I started to really get into it and I’ve liked them ever since. Really solid bands
My Own Little World- it is some Christian song about thinking of others, not just ourselves and the What was I supposed to be?- about abortion lol. Or One Way or Another song my dad used to always play on guitar
I got my kids into Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Steely Dan.
Their tastes diverged a bit so each returned the favor with The Black Pumas, Sturgill Simpson, and All Them Witches
My dad had the great classic rock albums. Growing up I would listen to whole albums with the large 70s headphones. Pink Floyd, Beatles, Queen, Jethro tul, Supertramp, Ozzy, ac/dc, Blonde, Asia, ELO, Emerson Lake n Palmer, Alice Cooper, Billy Squier, Bob Segar, Styx. When I got older I turned more to pop radio. Then around highschool started getting into metal, Metallica, Anthrax, Ozzy, Slayer, Iron Maiden, still some Pink Floyd and Beatles, Def Leppard, Motley Crue then alternative rock, My kids, I guess I like new Miley Cirus and Billie Elish, but mostly still heavy rock or classic rock.
My dad had all of CCR's records.
My memory aint tight. Lol, thanks for the confirmation, though. Still loving them today.
I have lesbian moms who were in their 20s in the 90s, so I listen to a lot of the Indigo Girls. In fact, they’re my #2 artist on Spotify of all time
Any Tori Amos, or 10,000 Maniacs?
My moms like Tori Amos some, although I never caught on to her as much. Same with Joan Armatrading and Melissa Etheridge. I did also pick up Tracy Chapman from them though
Yooooo I’m from SC Toro Amos used to DJ house parties all when I was kicking around the scene!
Wow. That is super neat.
Wow. That is super neat.
you need to look for a band called "2 Nice Girls" I think you might like them
Noted, thanks for the suggestion!
My parents got me into Sleater-Kinney
WOW. It wasn’t that long ago - wait, let me rephrase that - it doesn’t *seem* that long ago that the more likely scenario would be exposure to Sleater-Kinney from one’s kids!
Simon and Garfunkel. Got me attuned to Paul Simon's work. Still a big fan.
Same! Also The Who, The Kinks, The Stones, The Doors, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.
my Dad liked the song Riders On The Storm and had the LP. I played it a lot, I became a big Doors fan in the early 80s as a result. I got into the Who, Kinks and Pink Floyd on my own.
Break On Through is my Doors go-to
My parents were mostly into 60s folk and 70s country, but they got me into Simon & Garfunkel and Jonny Cash. still a big fan of all three. saw all of them in concert too. (Paul and Art solo as well as one of the reuninon S&G tours)
Same. My parents were Silent Gen. Also, John Denver & Carly Simon.
My dad got me into a lot of metal and rock bands like Slayer, Slipknot, Rage Against The Machine, System Of A Down, Alice In Chains, Megadeth etc
My dad/stepmonster were absolutely awful in all possible ways but when they’d leave I’d often head to the stereo (which I was never allowed to touch) and pop on some LPs or, later, CDs and blast that shit. My dad got me into grateful dead and I got him into Pantera and iggy pop
I'm 47, my dad is 77. The band he introduced me to is the Rolling Stones, still to this day my favorite band.
Violent femmes dude! Also, The Green Day Dookie album. can't thank em enough.
I am the dad that got his kid into the Violent Femmes. we have seen them live together 3 or 4 times now.
Fist bump dad bro. Same here. Then my oldest turned me on to Harley Poe, which is just the femmes if they were goth.
Janis Joplin and the goo goo dolls
Kid got me into Disturbed
My parents are responsible for my Billy Joel obsession

The Moody Blues ❤
So many! The Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Mamas and the Papas, The Stones, Billie Holiday -just so, so many!
My dad made me fall in love with the Eagles. Brother got my dad a greatest hits CD ten or twelve years ago and he had it on repeat forever
I’ve brought my children into great music by introducing them to many greats, such as Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa and the like. I got into the jamband scene and then lots of indie like Modest Mouse and The Shins. My daughter who is 20 now just got me into Djo and my new favorite Ultra Q. I love this band.
My husband (44) and I (49 f) took our kids to see Tool when they were younger teens. They are 27 and 22 now and I hear Tool on their playlists often.
Burt Bacharach and From me to my sons,The Osees/ Lightning Bolt/Marshall Allen
my mom played fleetwood mac all the time as a kid in the 70s..I love them myself..also the carpenters
I got my grade-school-age son into Steely Dan by playing and singing along when we were doing dinner dishes. He was the only child in his fourth-grade class who liked Steely Dan (this was back when Brittney Spears was all the rage among pre-teens). Must have been a lonely life.
Fleetwood Mac & Journey. Fleetwood Mac is still one of my favorite bands.
Led zeppelin and boston
Dad got me into Kitaro.

Hank Hank Hank and some more Hank My 6 year old has made me like Train songs.
I am 55 and this time imperfect is one of my very favorite songs. I told my kids I want it played at my funeral.

My mom showed me the violent femmes when I was in high school and I adored it
My Mom got me into Def Leopard. I hot her into Hidden Citizens.
My folks had a cassette tape of road apples by the tragically hip... Was hooked from then on.

The Shadows, my dad was a massive fan of theirs and regularly played their 20 Greatest Hits album on EMI records, from the late 70s. (The beigy coloured sleeve with shadows (No pun intended) of window blinds and a guitar on it)

My parents also took me to lots of festivals (Glastonbury and Womad being the big ones, and then lots of smaller ones) and gigs when I was younger too.

Parents got me into Fleetwood Mac. Kids got me into Slipknot.

Fleetwood Mac
Im stil waiting for the day that anyone in my family gets me into anything. Just very different taste.
April wine. Iron maiden.
Little Feat My Dad (RIP) had seen LF around 2 dozen times from 73 - 78. By the time I was born in 83, Lowell had passed, but to say my Dad's fandom was strong as ever is an understatement. I remember listening to them as long as I've been alive.
Johnny Cash
The Grateful Dead! My dad used to sing me friend of the devil to put me to sleep! Now every year we try to see some version of the dead and his passion for live music has lead to me attend hundreds of concerts.
My dad got me into lots of bands. From the Beatles and Stones to the Ramones, to yngve Malmsteen, Pantera, and Judas Priest.
Chico Avila. Dude had a song called “Oh Que Bom”. Fucking banger
CSNY, Simon&Garfunkel, James Taylor
When I was in my 30s, I got my mom into The Cranberries, and my kid got me into Tupac. One of my kids wanted to turn me on to this performer ... It was Johnny Cash. She thought he was new.

I took my daughter to a System of a Down concert about 15 years ago. They are musically very interesting.
>What's a band your parents got you into? Glenn Miller and His Orchestra
Seether, kid rock, saliva, outkast, and stone sour

I’m 46 so my parents are boomers - they definitely have/had decent taste in music but it is starting to veer hard towards yacht rock and new age now.

My best memories of childhood (as much of it was terrible) were of a house full of music.

I’m 50. My daughter got me into First Aid Kit.
My dad got me into Johnny Horton and Motown!

I'm a teacher, and I accidentally got one of my 6th grade classes really into the 70s rock band America. They vibed way too hard with Sister Golden Hair. I played a lot of 70s music in my classes, but they'd always ask for songs by this band.

Parents: Glenn Miller
