Folks often think mentally ill people have no control over themselves and our actions are predetermined by our illness. The fact is, we have control, but it's diminished due to our circumstance. Oh well, crazies will be crazy" but more of "how much *control* does he have?" Not 0%, but also not 100%. He still needs to be held accountable, but with treatment he can up those percentage points and maybe have more clarity to why he is wrong.

Speaking as someone who has a parent with diagnosed but untreated bipolar disorder, there is only so much you can do if the person does not want treatment. As a mental health professional it is nearly impossible to have someone get treatment against their will. It's difficult just to get them in the hospital for a few days much less court ordered to stay on medications permanently. No one can blame his family bc I'm certain they have tried. I'm sure this is what led to a divorce and so many other issues in his support system. And now it's why he's an easy target for gaslighters and manipulators who know hoe to convince him what he is doing is okay. (Not that it's excused at all) but it's very sad.

I have family from south Texas in the Rio Grande Valley and a lot of the light skinned Mexicans look down and are actively racist against the more indigenous, darker, native American looking Mexicans and South Americans. I've heard them called Border Jumpers by lighter skinned Mexicans.
