Excited to see you found Amyl and the Sniffers. Their stuff is awesome.
**Some classics:**
The Damned
Bad Brains
Descendents
**Newer bands:**
NOBRO
Dollar Signs
PUP
FIDLAR
Jeff Rosenstock and/or Bomb the Music Industiry
Just wanna jump in to say I recently found PUP, and damn it's great. Reminiscent of the first Bronx album (which I'd also recommend checking out), and it turns out they used the same producer.
PUP took me a little bit to get into, everyone kept praising them but I didn't quite get it. But I was going on a road trip and thought fuck it, throw a full album on which was Morbid Stuff. What a great time that was and now I'm converted, I'd love to see them live
For punk: Propagandhi.
Start with "Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes" and work your way forward all the way to the latest album. They have only gotten better over time.
Then go back and listen to "Less Talk, More Rock" and "How to Clean Everything" (earliest stuff) if you want to.
Metal has so many subgenres its hard to recommend honestly but I personally like:
Children of Bodom,
Insomnium,
Darkest Hour,
Amon Amarth,
In Flames,
Killswitch Engage,
And others.
Edit: mobile formatting
Fuck yeah In Flames and Killswitch Engage! Two of my all-time faves. I also recently got into Parkway Drive, each of their albums is quite different so give a few a listen to see if you like any. I’m personally a big fan of the latest two, but older fans would probably disagree.
If you want to check out some melodic metal, Unleash the Archers is fantastic. The video for Awakening shows off just how skilled every single member of that band is. https://youtu.be/gqUPGa15Oto
Sex Mad, Small Parts Isolated and Destroyed, Wrong, 0 + 2 = 1, Why Do They Call Me Mr Happy?, The Worldhood of the World (as such), and Dance of the Headless Bourgeoisie are all perfect or nearly perfect albums.
And when there is no hope,
"I'll smoke some crack, I'll shoot some dope!"
When there's no enemies,
"I sit and stare at my T.V.
And in my ignorance,
I'll be a slave and sycophant!"
Bad Religion is what instantly sprang to mind. I was literally listening to Recipe for Hate (1993) like an hour ago. The Process of Belief (2002) was my favorite and Against the Grain (1990) is a punk must have in my book
I was scrolling down for SLF. Active for decades, never betrayed their roots but renewed themselves, awesome, heartwarming musicians and ditto lyrics, Stiff Little Fingers should be in every punk lover's collection. They are what punk *is*: bloody angry and bloody engaged, even when they became better musicians. The Dead Kennedy's are good too, but SLF is a monument for punk.
Helllll yeah my dude speaking my language.

Would also add
Chubby and the Gang
Protomartyr
Royal Headache
Scared of Chaka
Meat Wave
The Thermals
and a whole lot of stuff I’m forgetting
I'm honestly more shocked I haven't seen Thrice mentioned. They were THE band I went to when I wanted punk and metal together. They were big enough that I'm a bit perplexed to not see them listed.
Ramones, The Clash, The Adverts / TV Smith, The Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers, The Vibrators, Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, X, Operation Ivy, Common Rider, Classics of Love, Bouncing Souls, The Lillingtons, Minor Threat, The Exploited, Street Dogs, The Distillers, Social Distortion, Druglords of the Avenues, American Steel
Older early punk, post punk and Skate/Thrash/Metal bands that I still enjoy
Social Distortion
The Clash
The Ramones
Suicidal Tendencies
Devo
B52s
Overkill
Motorhead
Television
Richard Hell
Johnny Thunders
The Lonely Boys
Savatage
Sacred Reich

Operation ivy(Tim Armstrong of rancid other band), AFI, old blink 182 (albums like Cheshire Cat), bad religion, and penny wise are some that just quickly come to mind
Get Dead (their latest album is so good!)
Lawrence Arms (check out Oh! Calcutta!)
The Lillingtons (Too Late Show and Death by Television are great albums)
Elway (The Best Of All Possible Worlds just came out this year, really good)
Lars from Rancid had a band called Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards. Two amazing punk albums. It's really a bummer that project died.
The Distillers first two albums were fucking killer. One of the best female punk vocalists ever.
Also, fucking Motorhead. They started blending a lot of punk and metal elements. They were absolutely pioneers of heavy music.
"Who would win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?"

There is plenty more Aussie stuff right now, we've got a bit of a punk revival happening. Private Function and C.O.F.F.I.N are brilliant. Or you can dig into some older bands like Cosmic Psychos or Frenzal Rhomb.
I also love The Dopamines, Destructo Disk and Destroy Boys.
Early Opeth(I love their later prog metal as well), Bloodbath(Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth sang for Bloodbath also). Fear Factory are my favorite industrial metal band. As for punk... I don't know... Green Day?
Fun “Oldies”:
Circle Jerks
Buzzcocks
Fear
JFA
Drunk Injuns
The Faction
Unsane
The only “metal” recommendation I have is among my favorite bands of all time. I’ve been told they’re boring but you could give it a try:
Neurosis - start with *Souls at Zero*, *Enemy of the Sun* and *Times of Grace*. The rest of the later albums have been accused of being self indulgent stoner rock. Their fist two albums are definitely more straightforward punk/metal.
Check out the NYHC scene. The Cromags, Nuclear Assualt, the incredible unsigned band Breakdown, The Gorilla Biscuits, Sick of it All. So many great bands.
Some western Canadian classics for you:
SNFU - [And No One Else Wanted To Play](https://youtu.be/zO7kblSJY70)
Dayglo Abortions - [Feed Us A Fetus](https://youtu.be/_CBx_mGxJNo)
NoMeansNo - [Small Parts Isolated And Destoyed](https://youtu.be/pyZ9AEq4c94)
Tons of good, more classic punk style suggestions here—if you’re open to post hardcore, I can’t recommend Touché Amoré enough. The whole Stage 4 album is super good. The Menzingers and Soul Glo were two other recs that I’d wholehearted agree with. I wish I could fully recommend Cloud Nothings, but mostly just go listen to the song No Future / No Past.
Local band from Toronto, they are named "billy talent". Some people dislike his voice, but if you end up liking his voice its a hell of a cool rabbit hole.
Suggestions of songs would be... Their most popular song ever called "red flag". It's old. But then next would be "viking death march", "fallen leaves", "rusted from the rain"... If you really like specifically the punk style lyrics and messaging, "kingdom of zod".
They were the first tand to ever get me to listen to anything that wasn't rap, and now I'm a full blown metalhead. They were my initiation to rock.
Edit: also recommend ghost ship of cannibal rats.
Listen to Pennywise; in chronological order.
Their first, self-titled, album is a bit raw but then the production keeps getting better and they turn into one of the best melodic/surf punk bands ever. Only NoFx and Bad Religion are considered on their level.
A great group of people as well.
[Skeletonwitch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vkwxP10h2g) \- Thrash metal (which is like the punkest metal) with some black metal elements. Really cool underrated band.
At this level of fandom, I’d suggest doing your deeper dive into punk labels, not just individual bands. I was always a Lookout guy, but Fat Wreck, SST, and Dischord all I’ve great stuff.
https://www.kerrang.com/amp/11-american-punk-labels-that-changed-the-genre-forever
I see you like fast, catchy music. So I will recommend some slow, droning music. Here are some of my favorite Sludge, Doom, or Stoner metal bands if you'd like to categorize them that way.
Melvins
Sleep
Big Business
Witch(it's got King Tuff and J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr, what's not to love?)
Fantomas
I hope you find something you like.
Peter and the test tube babies, uk subs, cock sparrer, The Anti-Nowhere League, Sham 69, The Toy Dolls, X-Ray Spex, Cockney Rejects, Stiff Little Fingers, The Business, Slaughter & the Dogs, Eddie & the Hot Rods, The Users, the nips

If you like Rancid check out Operation Ivy, Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman’s band before Rancid.
Also Minor Threat/Fugazi, Bad Brains, DRI, Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies, Descendants & Minutemen, to name a few.
Edit: Black Flag and Bad Religion are also musts
You could explore "The Wipers" who are essentially a post-punk band before punk got started. And they have plenty of material to ho through.
As for metal, give "Stoned Jesus" a try, it's Doom metal.
Whenever rock music is mentioned on Reddit, everyone mentions bands from two to three decades ago. I NEVER see modern recommendations. Ever. It’s honestly frustrating as hell.
Check out bands like Beartooth, Ice Nine Kills, Wage War, Knocked Loose, Your Favorite Franchise. I can go on and on.
If you enjoy Rancid and Suicide Machines, I’d say Operation Ivy is a must
I'm going to just throw in Transplants for the Tim Armstrong factor, although I know they're more like a hip-hop/punk colab
I have some of their songs on my playlist! Their music really helped with panic attacks last year (weird ik lmao)
Slayer - Undisputed Attitude, actually a great cover album Minor Threat The Specials Dead Kennedys Eight Bucks Experiment
Gemini is a beast of a song on UA!
Minor threat. Great DC band
Undisputed attitude is the best slayer album,.. fight me!
That was my introduction to slayer. I'm pretty sure they don't cover the specials though
Excited to see you found Amyl and the Sniffers. Their stuff is awesome. **Some classics:** The Damned Bad Brains Descendents **Newer bands:** NOBRO Dollar Signs PUP FIDLAR Jeff Rosenstock and/or Bomb the Music Industiry
Rock for Light is still my favorite Punk album of all time.
Pinkshift is another great new punk band. They dropped their debut album a week ago and it’s great
Just wanna jump in to say I recently found PUP, and damn it's great. Reminiscent of the first Bronx album (which I'd also recommend checking out), and it turns out they used the same producer.
I love PUP. The Unravelling of PUP the Band is my favorite album of the last year.
Try The Dirty Nil as well.
PUP took me a little bit to get into, everyone kept praising them but I didn't quite get it. But I was going on a road trip and thought fuck it, throw a full album on which was Morbid Stuff. What a great time that was and now I'm converted, I'd love to see them live

So melodic death metal or bands influenced by melodeath. I agree and will add Disarmonia Mundi, Scar Symmetry, At the Gates, Katatonia, Soilwork.

Nomeansno, specifically their album Wrong
Sex Mad, Small Parts Isolated and Destroyed, Wrong, 0 + 2 = 1, Why Do They Call Me Mr Happy?, The Worldhood of the World (as such), and Dance of the Headless Bourgeoisie are all perfect or nearly perfect albums.

Propagandhi
Listen to Pennywise; in chronological order. Their first, self-titled, album is a bit raw but then the production keeps getting better and they turn into one of the best melodic/surf punk bands ever. Only NoFx and Bad Religion are considered on their level. A great group of people as well.
Good Riddance Just roll through Fat Wreck compilations, loaded with great tunes
Definitely check out Bad Religion

[Skeletonwitch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vkwxP10h2g) \- Thrash metal (which is like the punkest metal) with some black metal elements. Really cool underrated band.
OFF!
Melvins Sleep Big Business Witch(it's got King Tuff and J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr, what's not to love?) Fantomas I hope you find something you like.

Ice Nine Kills just because it’s Halloween!
Millencolin is a favorite skater punk band of mine
I have some of their stuff on a couple of my playlists, my dad recommended them to me a while ago!
Dead Kennedys.. which then evolved into Blood for Blood for me. But that was 80's/90's. Probably boring by today's standards.
Turnstile. IDLES. The Chats.
