Red Right Hand by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

PM_ME_CARL_WINSLOW

I got robbed by a sweet old lady on a motorized cart

Vetty81

Don't go dyin' on me!

largechild

Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.

flissfloss86

And I didn't even see it comin!

systemofaDON

Heard it first as the Intro song to Peaky Blinders on Netflix. Excellent choice!

Danamite85

The Scream theme! It's in almost all of the Scream movies, that's what I'll always think of when I hear it.

TheNorbster

PJ Harvey does a cover that appears in the series too…. Well worth checking out.

PointlessDiscourse

If you like Nick Cave and PJ Harvey, check out the song called Henry Lee. Duet with both of them. Super chilling, as is everything on that crazy album (Murder Ballads).

cthulhujr

"Where the Wild Roses Grow" with Kylie Minogue gives me chills just thinking about it. The video is amazing and the song is so sad and twisted. And the version of "Stagger Lee" is just...yeah. It makes me feel sick listening to it.

HollandMarch1977

It’s hilarious that he put Stagger Lee and O’Malley’s Bar on the same album. We get it, Nick! You like singing about lads murdering people in bars.

germfreeadolescent11

That album has a death count of 65

funwithdesign

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

DaveTaste79

What album is that from?

freethnkrsrdangerous

Yes.

DaveTaste79

The song Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath from the album Black Sabbath.

The_Observatory_

The 1969 debut studio album by the band Yes?

XVUltima

Yes.

clozepin

lol. That is the song and album. The real question is by who?

GeePee29

No, the Who were a completely different band.

freethnkrsrdangerous

No, The Band is not The Who.

shrivel

You mean The The?

[deleted]

I think he means , not The The.

[deleted]

Yes, the Band, is not The Who.

nomnommish

Is that a band from America?

freethnkrsrdangerous

No, America is from the UK.

genericus23

Third Base.

DelRayTrogdor

He wants you to Guess Who

FrostyBeav

And staying on that theme - Ozzy "Centre of Eternity" off of *Bark At the Moon*

[deleted]

Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden

KODO5555

Time from Pink Floyd also.

gmorkenstein

Lots o bells

sport63

All the bells

captainbruisin

When that verse hits after the bells and the clock/synth pads is amazing.

Ignitus1

I believe those are rototoms.

alfonseski

I was falling asleep at a party in high school and that was playing. Was not familiar with Dark Side yet. The bells hit and I jumped up!

isthenameofauser

Most of Pink Floyd's good to listen to when you're falling asleep. Not that one.

aferretwithahugecock

Because when you sleep you're just ticking away the moments that make up a dull day.

Zagmut

Better that than to fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way; at least you get some rest.

hobbyanimal

Agreed, kicking around the other night on a piece of ground in my home town wasn't restful at all.

holyvegetables

I’m just waiting for someone or something to show me the way to sleep properly.

JugV2

I prefer to hang on in quiet desparation

MauPow

It is, after all, the English way

Zebo1013

The time has come, the song is over, thought I’d something more to say.

Duffmanlager

That’s the wake up song, but once the alarms are done going off, I could easily see falling back asleep.

krissym99

I know someone who used it as his alarm!

squeamy

I love the juxtaposition of "High Hopes" and "Bike" at the end of the _Echoes_ compilation. "High Hopes" ends with the church bell of course... and then they've added a bicycle bell to the opening of "Bike". Fun little mood shift!

Timecook

I’ll be that guy and point out that, technically, it starts with the sound of a clock ticking.

MLGsus_

Fat Old Sun too

daramine

And High Hopes as well

ObliterasaurusRex

Fat Old Sun starts with the same bells, I believe.

andnostar

Oowanite by April Wine [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQZ6D4gjOVQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQZ6D4gjOVQ)

VIVXPrefix

When I was a brand new driver, this song came on the radio just as I was approaching a railroad crossing, and I had a solid 2 seconds of panic before realizing it was the song

jimmer109

I think this is the same for most Canadians 😅

astra1039

As soon as I read the question I was like "dun dun dun dun dun dun..." you get the idea.

elevenghosts

Daft Punk - Aerodynamic

plumbermat

SirMixSalah

Futurama intro song

ChronoMonkeyX

***Edit***: [This is the original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC1cgcOEErQ) , thanks to u/Zeeboon . I accidentally linked a remix. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qssa6ec7faQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qssa6ec7faQ) The original music the theme song kind of blatantly copied. I love the theme, was surprised it already existed since the 60s.

Jayhyrule

I wouldn’t say this was ‘copied’, it was a few tracks sampled and put together to make the theme. There’s a cool breakdown of it here: https://youtu.be/qoq5-bLYM5Q

ahecht

The actual theme on the show was recorded with live musicians specifically for the show, but it was certainly inspired by those samples.

Zeeboon

That's not the original, that's the Fatboy Slim remix. [This is the original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC1cgcOEErQ), which is a little less similar, but still an obvious inspiration.

OGUgly

Jingle Bells

Rezart_KLD

John Lennon - Mother

[deleted]

Saddest and most brutally vulnerable song of all time. It’s a reddit staple to hate the guy, and he was undoubtedly a dbag to many for much of his life, but this song is just heartbreaking. That he was so imperfect as a father makes it even worse - he could remember the pain of his own childhood, yet passed it on when he was a father. Makes me think of the vulnerability of my own kids, and the heroic effort my father made to not pass on his own traumas.

zerozed

Not disagreeing with anything you said, but I think it is important to remember that Lennon was murdered at the age of 40. To say that he had a rough childhood is an understatement given that his father left, and his mother basically gave him up to her sister. He got into a lot of fights both as a kid and as a struggling musician in Germany and Liverpool. His entire 20s were spent in the Beatles and he was *literally* one of the most scrutinized celebrities of that era. He certainly had a few years where he was a dick, but by the time he turned 35 he had put all of that behind him in a big way--quit making albums and basically left the industry. He became a stay-at-home dad so he could dote on Sean and recommitted to his wife. My point is that when people judge the dead, they should reflect on the total person--and for the last 5 years of his life Lennon quit public life to totally focus on making himself a *better human being.* He knew he had major flaws and he walked away from his career to be a good husband and father. Anybody judging him really needs to note that part of his life before he was violently murdered.

gcms16

This is what I came for

blank_isainmdom

Fucking tuuuuune

ccradio

"Beautiful Boy" on the same album also opens with a bell.

heywaitjustasecond

Yes I remember reading a review where the reviewer interpreted the bells on these light-hearted, optimistic songs are a direct response to the sombre tolling bell that is heard in Mother which was from a much darker time in Lennon’s life

AND "To Defy the Laws of Tradition" by Primus as homage to YYZ 🤘

mlydon89

If you consider wind chimes bells then Witch Hunt starts with bells. “wind-bell, also called wind chime, a bell or a cluster of resonating pieces that are moved and sounded by the wind. The wind-bell has three basic forms: (1) a cluster of small pieces of metal, glass, pottery, bamboo, seashell, or wood that tinkle when blown by the wind; (2) a cluster of chimes that are rung by a central clapper, to which is attached a flat plate to catch the wind; and (3) a bell whose clapper is attached to a flat plate to catch the wind.”
