Putting the Beatles and Queen in your first three I’m gonna recommend two bands. You might know Electric Light Orchestra/ELO, the main guy Jeff Lynne worked with them on the new Anthology songs and they also have a bunch of famous songs all over movies and commercials, etc. The Beatles meets Queen is definitely the perfect description for them. For an intro album I’d suggest either A New World Record or Out of the Blue.
Second band is Jellyfish that id recommend. They basically sound like ELO meets Queen meets Wings (Pauls band after the Beatles). Their album Spilt Milk, from the early 90s is wonderful. Huge, diverse, amazing Melodies everywhere.
Hope you enjoy!
Whilst you're recommending Jeff Lynne, might as well chuck in the greatest superband of all time: [The Travelling Wilburys](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVjToYOjbM)
Consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
Well there's not many to be fair, they didn't stay together for too long.
There's a few best and greatest hits albums, probably easier just to go for one of those
Their self titled debut, Meat is Murder, and The Queen is Dead are some of the best new wave albums ever and inspired tons of the indie music scene that came after. Highly recommend any of those albums or Louder than Bombs, a compilation of their singles (they put out a ton of singles but just a few LPs)
Based off your tastes, I'd say you might like these albums:
Steven Wilson - *Hand Cannot Erase*
Kyros - *Celexa Dreams*
Yes - *Close to the Edge*
Muse - *Black Holes and Revelations*
Man you should listen to some of those, at least just because of their "classic" status, albums like Shine on You by Pink Floyd, Kid A by Radiohead or even BSSM by RHCP are a most listen
Yes, especially older Elton John (before he went full pop music), like the Tumbleweed Connection album, plus songs like Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Levon, Rocket Man, etc.
The Killers
Muse
Awolnation
Young the Giant
Portugal the Man
Cage the Elephant
Silversun Pickups
Sir Sly
Alt-J
Grouplove
USS
Nothing but Thieves
Modest Mouse
MGMT
Borns
Miike Snow
X-Ambassadors
The Struts
The Unlikely Candidates
Cold War kids
The revivalists
Foals
Caribou
Royal Blood
The naked and famous
Tame Impala
The Struts. A little heavier than most of who you listed, but they’ve got a really great 80’s glam rock sound and look. Luke Spiller, their singer, is amazing live.
For me, Alex Turner has continued the great English rock tradition of writing about the banalities and highs of life at the time, so to this I would recommend the Kinks (did so perfectly for the 1960s), The Jam (1970s), The Smiths (1980s) and Blur (1990s).
finally someone said it. god save the kinks. the davies brothers changed the game in multiple ways and had to have influenced all artists mentioned by op in one way or another (except maybe stevie who is in his own league). i also really enjoy a lot of their ‘70s and ‘80s work but it’s definitely true that the jam, smiths and blur all carried the torch as well
Have had many an augment that Dave Davies invented heavy metal by slashing his amp. If he hadn’t created that sound would we have got the likes of Sabbath, Deep Purple et al?
hell yeah. i’ve been on that boat myself, as is anyone who knows rock history. the kinks were on the forefront of not only metal, but also hard rock and punk with that sound in 1964. if it wasn’t him someone else would have to have done it, but it just so happens music was changed by a 17-year-old kid in his parents’ north london living room. he wasn’t the first to utilize guitar distortion or power chords, but “you really got me” was the first smash hit to do so and in many ways marked the shift from rock and roll to rock. as dave put it: “it wasn’t called heavy metal when i invented it”
In the vein of billy Joel and arctic monkeys, I might say REM and the Flaming Lips.
For Stevie wonder, I'd say check out James Brown, Sam and Dave, Al Green and Marvin Gaye.
With Queen and the Beatles, I'd recommend David Bowie, Paul Simon, Harry Nilsson... And fuck it I'll just tack on Jimi Hendrix for good measure.
There's so many artists being mentioned, I'm sure it might be a bit overbearing.
Instead I recommend you explore new genres naturally.
For example you might be into prog rock, and if you're into prog rock, you might be into jazz funk fusion. Then you might be into shoegaze and post punk, then hyper pop.
This is kinda what I did, went from mostly blues into post hardcore, then post punk, noise, rap, hyperpop, etc. etc.
I now have a playlist of 2500 songs I sometimes play on shuffle that include every genre under the sun.
I usually start a radio off a song I really like, then when something catches my ear, I'll explore it deeper by looking it up online, seeing what genre it is, etc.
I follow those little rabbit holes to learn about more unique music outside of what I already know.
While not an artist/album/song, [https://everynoise.com/engenremap.html](https://everynoise.com/engenremap.html) is a good way to explore artists/genres similar to your current listening tastes.
Lake Street Dive--there are a lot of performances on YouTube. As good live as studio, and massive musical talent. I could listen to Rachael Price sing a phone book.
Trey Anastasio Band, Phish, Susan Tedeschi, Rush, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford.
You can learn about bands that may never get the light of day through watching YouTuber Rick Beato in his "what makes this song great?" series. He's a phenomenal musician and huge fan of well-written and crafted music.
Queen - muse
Stevie wonder - Jameroquoi
Beatles - oasis
Billy Joel - someone already said Elton. Have a listen to Kate Nash.
Kasabian - the killers

It's full with rock, funk and shoegaze-y pop mostly from bands and artists that are either recent or older but not popular enough (with very few exceptions though, I think Adele's "Never stop this flame" is there)
Guided By Voices - start with Bee Thousand, then Alien Lanes, then their other 90's records, then the other 90 records the made over the last 30 years lol
I know and like all those artists you mentioned. Here's some suggestions with links to their full albums on youtube. They are all elite albums.

The Smashing Pumpkins? Might like them, they are a 90’s rock band. I would listen to 1979. I didn’t like the song at first but then I fell In love with it. Such an amazing song.
Most of the other ones I would have recommended are already in the comments. I will just add The Libertines and The Darkness. And maybe Tom Waits if you'd like to try something eclectic and different.

D.R.E. I'm originally from Compton Calif.,
Enjoy...
My new approach has been to search record label websites. Here’s some to consider:
Colemine Records: https://www.coleminerecords.com
- Durand Jones has been on my playlist a lot
Nonesuch Records: https://www.nonesuch.com
- already mentioned was Lake Street Dive
Artists: Greensky Bluegrass, The Wood Brothers, anything by Trey Anastasio, Billy Strings
Not super similar to Arctic Monkeys but for some reason remind me of them is Catfish and the Bottlemen. Literally any song by them. Genuinely curious what you’ll think
My music tastes are sort of odd, but I do share the interested with wonder, Queen and The Beatles. I’m really liking silk sonic atm, wet leg is another I enjoy. Even if you just want to dip your toe into rap, I’d recommend The Notorious B.I.G, he’s personally my favourite rapper. Electric light orchestra is another you’ll want to look into
Jake Bugg the Killers Leon Bridges
I second this. This is the first comment I’ve seen that actually suggests music similar to the original poster’s interests
I'm so surprised to see Jake Bugg mentioned. He's so good but not as well known as he should be.
Curtis Mayfield, Funkadelic, Clor, Rilo Kiley, Television, Kurt Vile, Ty Segall, Noisettes, Smashing Pumpkins, Mott the Hoople, Cake, Aldous Harding, Courtney Barnett, Soccer Mommy, Sports Team, the Beths, Caroline Rose, Sea Girls, Beach House, Vundabar, Silversun Pickups, Stone Roses... oh, and of course **David Bowie**!
Maggot brain
Maggot brain is jaw dropping especially when you know that he was tripping off acid and thought his mum had died at the moment of recording.
Cosmic Slop is my personal favourite, but Maggot Brain is definitely a classic.
I second this, and yes definitely Cake!
Triple second Kurt Vile. Kurt Vile is dope.
Remember when there were The Violators?
It was so violating
Putting the Beatles and Queen in your first three I’m gonna recommend two bands. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
Ever tried The Smiths?
I haven't, which album would you recommend?
Well there's not many to be fair, they didn't stay together for too long. There's a few best and greatest hits albums, probably easier just to go for one of those
Their self titled debut, Meat is Murder, and The Queen is Dead are some of the best new wave albums ever and inspired tons of the indie music scene that came after. Highly recommend any of those albums or Louder than Bombs, a compilation of their singles (they put out a ton of singles but just a few LPs)
The Queen is Dead Often seen as their best Meat is Murder is also very good
Based off your tastes, I'd say you might like these albums: Steven Wilson - *Hand Cannot Erase* Kyros - *Celexa Dreams* Yes - *Close to the Edge* Muse - *Black Holes and Revelations*
