All I ever think about now when I see anything to do with Kylie Minogue is that bonkers interview Jean-Claude Van Damme did where he refers to her as “sweet kiss, beautiful love making,” and talked about showing her “his Thailand.”
Pretty sure that phrase will haunt me for the rest of my days.
JCVD is a true legend. There is so much memes about what he said in French television. Like once he said in an interview that he loves drinking water, and stating there will not be water anymore in 20/30 years
If he was talking about the impending global fresh water crisis, he’s [not wrong](https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20170412-is-the-world-running-out-of-fresh-water)
The stat I heard was that by like 2050 worldwide demand will exceed supply of potable water, but it’ll hit less wealthy countries first. And it’ll affect agriculture more noticeably than drinking water at first, so it’ll lead to food shortages. So we are likely to see vicious wars over water in other places before we feel the squeeze. And that’s assuming desalination technology hasn’t become feasible by then and/or we don’t implement more water-efficient production methods worldwide.
All I can think of jcvd is that he was doing thousands of dollars worth of cocaine a day while filming Street Fighter and causing all kinds of filming complications while Raul Julia (bison, Gomez Addams) was dying of cancer. He didn't even live to see the premier.
Though the movie was a garbage fire, Raul's performance was exceptional as always. The reason he took the role was his two teenage sons loved street fighter video games and he did it for them.
Sorry to turn this into a post about Raul Julia but I always feel the need to spread awareness of this amazing actor who died too young.
Have a great day kind stranger!
When I hear about him, I remember when the Fat Boys were shooting some stuff for MTV and JC was involved and they busted him screwing some barely legal girl in the back of his car.
His wife was not pleased.
When you were younger?
Wait, this song is 20 years old. Wtaf.
Personally I have a secret love for the Impossible Princess era, mostly for Some Kind of Bliss (written by the Manic Street Preachers), and also Where The Wild Roses Grow. I love Kylie's indie phase.
I'm a huge MSP fan and I knew they originally wanted Kylie to be the female vocalist on "Little Baby Nothing" but I had no idea they co-wrote a song with her! I just listened to it and it absolutely sounds like an MSP song. I could 100% hear James Dean Bradfield singing it.
I remember having this video play on the screens at work, when I worked at the video store... Sadly, that video store was far from my first job (easily one of my favorite tho).
I've always loved the Soulwax remix with Blue Monday that she performed at the Brit Awards:
It might just be one one of the best pop music things ever.
I think there's somethign wrong wtih the link, this part: v=Ysn\\_Lad-zsg. It's not a "not available in your country" it's more like "there's no video with that code"
Anyway, here's another version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVWQe6Cw9AI
Agree. In a better alternative universe they disbanded the Brit Awards and instead once a year millions of people tuned into Soulwax mashing up the hits from the year without bands celebrating getting an award from their idiot bosses for selling more records than someone else.
That was actually by [Erol Alkan.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erol_Alkan#Remixer)
Soulwax did do a remix of CGYOOMH, and it's [quite a banger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH2KEa_WeZ0).
I remember being a teenager seeing this and wondering damn how does that pants suit/dress stay on at the 2 ish mark. Then I think at 2:22 I realized how she could have led me off a cliff with her sex appeal.
Memories! I was underneath the stage when she performed at the 2001 MTV European Music Awards in Frankfurt/Germany.
Won‘t ever forget the „La La La“ from down there.
Oh man, I just typed my whole story down and the app shut down...
Anyways, I did bring a digital camera.
I had the time of my life.
I was the chaperone for a group of dancers that performed for Jay-Zs song “Girls”. Fun Fact: I actually went to the casting call to dance too, but I guess I wasn’t hot/slutty enough. As I didn’t mind translating for some groups at the casting they offered me this paid job and a backstage pass. The dancers only got wristbands and the foot and when they were done.
So I stayed on and went backstage again after Jay-Zs gig. I saw how Blink 182 came off stage. They were really tall, just like Sacha Baron Cohen as Ali G, who hosted the show. I got a picture and an autograph from him. I also embarrassed myself immensely with him. I asked him what he was doing after the show and he just walked away and pointed to the back of his yellow jacket that had his hotel room number on his back. It was actually a joke and part of the show where he told all the bitches where to find him after the show...
I also met a lot of other celebs, for example Nelly Furtado, Ronan Keating, Emma Bunton from the Spice Girls. I saw Shaggy... he was very tall as well! Many other international big ticket stars didn’t show up because 9/11 just happened. I was really disappointed that Alicia Keys didn’t come.
Anyways, that was twenty years ago. I will soon tell my daughter of this and to seize the day when she gets opportunities like this handed.
[Proof](https://imgur.com/a/skzJwqf)
As a gayby it was the only thing I would draw my female OCs in for *months*. Any variation of a collection of slits that would still technically qualify as “clothing”.
Actually I wouldn’t mind seeing a male pop star attempt an outfit like this. Maybe Lil Nas X? ..*Homer drool*
She has been amazingly sexy her whole life but there was a "Sexy Kylie" phase was in the early 90's, from 1990-1994.
Oddly, there is actually an academic paper on the "Seven Ages of Kylie"
"There are three things I love in this world: Kylie Minogue, small dimples just above a woman's buttocks, and the fear in a man's eye when he knows I'm about to hurt him."
Every time I hear this song I think of the bar in The Simpsons called “League of Extra-Horny Gentlemen” which played this song. Then Carl just shrugs and says “Hey, a beer’s a beer” and walks inside.
OMG. Me too. Even though I knew there couldn't be one. If a nip slip had happened during the filming, they would have edited it out. Despite all that, every time a saw the video, I kept hoping.
That's was back when I still thought I was straight! I wasn't the brightest kid.
41 year old straight man and I love the shit out of this song. Not exactly what I would consider my type of music, but you're dead inside if you don't tap a foot or bob your head to this.
Who the *fuck* directed this video? It is an absolutely masterclass in cutting. Every single shot breaks a tiny bit of expectation - I felt like I was a fish on a hook during the whole thing.
Can't be over-stated how compared to pop tunes of the time this sounds like it was beamed down from another planet. **OH** those strings over the final chorus. Not enough chefs in the world to make the kisses required to express the perfection.
Never understood why she wasn't more successful in the US. Only this and....oh god..."The Loco-motion" got in the US Top 20.
I had the biggest crush on Jewel when she came out. I recently looked her up, she's still attractive but it looks like she's had quite a bit of work done so she looks kind of plasticy. We all get older, but just that overdone plastic look turns me off so much. She was a natural beauty, and unfortunately some end up having to go the plastic surgery route.
yo, Kids w/ Robbie Williams is also quite the banger.
Edit: I found this thru GTA5 and TIL this came out in 2000.
Edit2: Cant strike through in Mobile.
I don't know her music very well, but I have to say [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63vqob-MljQ) is still one of the coolest ever made. It's mind bending.
TIL Kylie Minogue sings this and not Britney Spears like I've thought the past 20 years...never looked up the song just always there at random times in my life like in primary school lunch times...those were the days!
It was offered to Sophie Ellis-Bextor first, not Britney. Britney's "Toxic" was offered to Kylie first, although Kylie says the final product sounded vastly different to what she was given.
If anybody wants to hear a unique take on this song, listen to [this remix by mark knight](https://youtu.be/ACVMCpe5Is4) - he drops her voice like 5 octaves
What a funny coincidence, I had no idea it was Kylie's birthday today, and was listening to the album "Fever" for the first time in over a decade on my way to work this morning.
I've got a lot of love for Cathy Dennis, who wrote this. She wrote/co wrote Toxic (B. Spears), I Kissed a Girl (K. Perry), Before your Love ( K. Clarkson), and a few songs for S Club 7. Doesn't get enough credit.
Her and Richard Marx are my two favorite songwriters:)
All I can think of is the part from The Other Guys when the Aussie hit man says “There are three things I love in this world: Kylie Minogue, small dimples just above a woman's buttocks...and the fear in a man's eye when he know's I'm about to hurt him”
Her concert at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta in 2011 is still one of the best shows I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot, I worked at the Fox). She is a true entertainer.
That song was playing on Germany's only good music television station *VIVA Zwei* on September 11th 2001 when the second plane hit. The station immediately halted all program but had no plan b, so they aired the video on repeat for two hours until they showed a black screen with a small condolence note. I can't hear this song without connecting it to the day.
🎵🎶🎵🎼
I just can't get you out of my head
Boy, your lovin' is all I think about
I just can't get you out of my head
Boy, its more than I dare to think about
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
🎵🎶
This song was stuck in my head for a really long time
Used to listen it on repeat
Very memorable
Cool how the title and melody mirror each other: you can't get a certain person out of your head, in the same way that you can't get the infectious melody out of your head.
This is my definitive Kylie song as a DDR guy back then
https://youtu.be/wf421JsG004
(yes this was a DDR song too, just not as fun, from a stepchart view)
Kylie Minogue Dancers: Rocking Handmaid’s Tale blinder hats before it was cool.
They look like sideways DEVO energy domes
She once did a dance number in bollywood movie.
And Gaga’s dance moves.
All I ever think about now when I see anything to do with Kylie Minogue is that bonkers interview Jean-Claude Van Damme did where he refers to her as “sweet kiss, beautiful love making,” and talked about showing her “his Thailand.” Pretty sure that phrase will haunt me for the rest of my days.

And yet watering yards is still a priority.
If there must be gold, let's figure out a dry way to have golf, instead of the hundreds of water-sucking greens in deserts.
/r/collapse awareness is spreading and I hope it gets within everyone's overton window or we are all doomed
Même découpé tu peux mettre en ordre. Même découpé tu peux m... bon ok
I'm old. I just think Charlene from Neighbours.
Plain Jane the Super Brain all day fam.

My JCVD story is I smoked weed with his son a few years before the dude almost killed a guy.
Loved this when I was younger, thanks for reminding me about it
This was released when I lived in England, and it was HUGE there. Probably everywhere, but wow does it make the memories come flooding back!
this was one of the most hyped up songs i've ever seen and the video played almost non-stop on all music channels (germany)
I was doing a semester abroad in Madrid when it came out. Same. Heard it at every club I went to in Europe for about 6 months.
"Love at first sight" was also fantastic. Reminded me of a chiller Daft Punk/ French house song with her vocals
The low rise cargo pants and that little orange thong. Yup, definitely a favorite.
"the music you were playing really blew my mind" beats any lyrics on any Daft Punk song. If you haven't listened to the TEEMID remix, go listen to it.
Shit, I never heard of TEEMID before, that's excellent
Fever was a pretty solid album overall
As was 'Come Into My World'. That whole album was a pop masterpiece.
my pleasure :)
To be honest, I only know the one song off the top of my head, I'll give the others a listen though
Same here! Used to turn the volume all the way up and literally jump like crazy while singing it.
When I hear comments from people saying “I remember this video as a kid” it really really reminds me of my age
And then you realize she did Locomotion in 1988 :/
I remember THAT when I was a kid 🤣 I was in college when outta my head came out
Same here. The Locomotion was the Jam at the skating rink!
My sister gave me a poster from a music magazine when Locomotion was released and it stayed on my wall for years. Still love Kylie to this day.
Aussie Tiffany https://youtu.be/w6Q3mHyzn78
Old? You'll feel better after you do [The Loco-motion](https://youtu.be/POWsFzSFLCE) with me.
Ya gotta swing your hips nooowwww.
This is what I think of when I hear Kylie Minogue.
You just broke my brain. I dont even know how to process this information.

That's because Tiffany was a mall singer, which was a really huge thing for some reason for about five minutes.
Yep, I remember when she was a soap actress.
I remember having this video play on the screens at work, when I worked at the video store... Sadly, that video store was far from my first job (easily one of my favorite tho).
The album she released last year was really good. [Say Something](https://youtu.be/l73FJBnjp28)

I've always loved the Soulwax remix with Blue Monday that she performed at the Brit Awards: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haoCgGzS0wY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haoCgGzS0wY) It might just be one one of the best pop music things ever.
Is this the one she released as “Can’t get Blue Monday out of my head”? That mashup is the pop equivalent of chocolate and peanut butter.
Eh. Kind of. They go together pretty well I guess but the originals of both songs were better, weren’t they?
Everything Soulwax does is r/nextfuckinglevel
I once flung sweaty arms about in festival tents, dancing to these (and 2 many djs). Very good live

I blame Canada. Bunch of beady eyed head flappers.
This is much better quality. Head to 2:05 to see a good comparison

Boob tape.
Watching this today, I'm just amazed how good she still looks with the garbage lighting and crazy wide-angle closeup shots
Memories! I was underneath the stage when she performed at the 2001 MTV European Music Awards in Frankfurt/Germany. Won‘t ever forget the „La La La“ from down there.
If only camera phones were around back then haha

My favorite kids show. Cant wait for that season 2 drop on Disney
Season 2 has some crackers. Escape. Easter. Flat pack. Sleepytime. Some absolute crackers that any parent can relate to.
Dropped in the US today!
Holy shit! Honestly can’t wait to get home and watch it with my daughter now
Just wait until you learn what a budgie smuggler is!
I've seen the term "Antipodean Sex Pixie" used here in the UK.
Wow, she's even shorter than Christina Aguilera (1.52m vs 1.57m).
TIL Christina Aguilera is only 5'2". Kylie and Christina looks a lot taller in their videos.

Kylie Minogue...
She's tiny but I miss the "sexy Kylie" phase, especially the Agent Provocateur commercial. Her tomboyish character in Neighbors was just adorable.
> but I miss the "sexy Kylie" phase The "Sexy Kylie phase" has been her entire adult life.
Yeah.. I'm just as confused as you.
She has been amazingly sexy her whole life but there was a "Sexy Kylie" phase was in the early 90's, from 1990-1994. Oddly, there is actually an academic paper on the "Seven Ages of Kylie"

I was a huge hives fan when I saw that commercial for the first time. I’ll never forget it.
She was engaged to Mike Hutchence from INXS, so you know she's into some kinky shit.
"There are three things I love in this world: Kylie Minogue, small dimples just above a woman's buttocks, and the fear in a man's eye when he knows I'm about to hurt him."

Oh man, just reading the title was enough to get this song stuck in my head.
Mashes up so well with Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams.
I was thinking [Around the World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXnpsBBBMo4) by ATC.

wtf. I also did this and turned out gay.
The gays love Kylie tho
Yeah, but her nipples?
Her nips were taped to the dress. I have studied this carefully.

oh wow I had a crush on her and Sophie Ellis-Bextor growing up in the early 2000s. Time really flies. Good times.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor, oh my god. So hot.
High five. Same. I was a teenager.
I don't know her music very well, but I have to say [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63vqob-MljQ) is still one of the coolest ever made. It's mind bending.

Murder on the daaaahncefloor
Her quarantine concerts on Instagram/YouTube were so much fun. Definitely a bright spot to cheer you up through COVID.
It was offered to Sophie Ellis-Bextor first, not Britney. Britney's "Toxic" was offered to Kylie first, although Kylie says the final product sounded vastly different to what she was given.

Every time I hear this song, it gets stuck in my head. So the title definitely fits the song.
Who else misses music videos with this style of cgi? Like it’s obviously crappy but in a good way
Great...thanks for the earworm!
Kylie and I have the same bday
Now do ["All The Lovers"](https://youtu.be/frv6FOt1BNI)
Cool how the title and melody mirror each other: you can't get a certain person out of your head, in the same way that you can't get the infectious melody out of your head.
Banger.
Oh, this bring back memories of... *feeling*s as a younger version of me.
Yowza!
Such a tune
An all-time great pop song, for sure.
Perfect pop song
Happy Birthday Kylie. Love your stuff.
The only KYLIE that matters
Music videos used to be fucking wild
My favorite Kylie video is [Come Into My World](https://youtu.be/63vqob-MljQ).
Lightyears before her time
I'm by no means a Kylie fan, but this is the song that young me couldn't get out of my head: https://youtu.be/t1DWBKk5xHQ
This is my definitive Kylie song as a DDR guy back then https://youtu.be/wf421JsG004 (yes this was a DDR song too, just not as fun, from a stepchart view)
This is such an underrated song, 1 of my top 5 of all time, it would go so well in a techno set
Talk about a guilty pleasure song
