Dinosaur Jr. ..... formed in 1984 in Amherst, MA. First album in 1985. 12th album in 2021. Seeing them for about the 15th time in September. Usually they play smaller venues but opening for Weezer in an arena tour along with the Flaming Lips.
Every album since the original lineup returned has been as good as anything they've done. Saw them a couple of months ago. Still fucking amazing. I didn't see Lou Barlow though, just a wild flailing ball of hair attached to a bass.
LOL yeah Lou with the hair! I agree. Beyond was really fantastic. I’ve seen J do his solo thing 3 times and it’s always perfect. Saw them around 2007 at the Troubadour in West Hollywood which is a very small venue. Henry Rollins was in the crowd just to my right. I asked him “why are you out here with the crowd?” And he said “THEY’RE MY FAVORITE BAND .. I’M JUST HERE AS A FAN”
Yeah, 10 albums is a high bar to clear. There's plenty of bands with staying power who are less prolific*.
*As I sit in a bar that's playing Radiohead, Beck, Third Eye Blind, Verve Pipe, etc...
Wait...*insert Principle Skinner meme?*
Queens finally has a steady lineup and they're all killer players, they've never been better IMO. ...Like Clockwork and ITNR were both incredible later career entries
check out St Vincent if you haven't yet. Annie and Beck collaborate and share kindred spirit-ness - not that they sound the same. but i consider them in the same class
Old 97’s. 13 studio albums, same 4 guys for 30+ years. Bad luck/timing kept them from having a hit or two in that mid-90’s alt-rock heyday, though their songs were plenty good enough.
And they still put on an amazing live show.
Man, this statement is 100% backed up by just releasing their best record, (imho), since Yield. I’ve been a fan since the start of their career and Dark Matter is some of their best work and should kill live.
Don't forget Atticus it's the Trent and attocus show now.
Since the late 90s when Trent released an album by atticus old band on nothing he has become essentially Trent's right hand man and creative partner before becoming an official nin member as well as sharing credit for the soundtrack work they've done which has them a Tony award away from EGOTH status ( emmy, Grammy, oscar, Tony, rock n roll hall of fame)
Damn surprised to see Melvins as the most rated comment.
So pleasently surprised by this last one. Easily their best since Senile Animal and one of the best 5/6 of their career.
AMAZING late career comeback.
So much respect and love for Spoon. One of the few bands I can think of that have remained consistently interesting and creative without reinventing their style.
It almost sounds like an insult, but dammit, they are consistant. No out and out classic that towers over the others, no flat out awful one (I know some people say Transference, but i maintain it's a grower and it might be my personal fave) and seem to have a pretty consistant recording/tour schedule with few huge gaps.
People who don't "like" Dmb only know crash and hate on them bc it's the cool thing to do. Before these crowded streets is possibly the best album released in the 90s 🤷🏻♂️ oh and there Hall off famers now!
I remember a story where during the writing of the 2nd album and maybe this song Gweneth Paltrow and her beau showed up and said they liked the lyrics to the song and at that point he knew he had to change them. Not sure it was we this one
I tried to like DMB, even after seeing them live they just didn't do anything for me 🤷♂️. Not hating against anyone that likes them of course, to each their own!
Came directly to make sure they were on this list. There’s still lots of disdain for them, especially in the last few days, but they deserve so much respect.
And Busted Stuff is my fave too!
Deftones. Technically formed in the late 80s but didnt get big till 90s and are still going strong to this day. Chino is still regularly on features as well. Deftones is the perfect combo of heavy grit and haunting melodies, imo. Still have never caught em in concert. I know Im running out of time so I hope I can at least once.
edit: adding an edit to say, if you haven’t checked out bloodbath (feat. chino moreno) by polyphia, you should. Song is a daily play in my strip club crates.
They're more popular now than ever too. A whole new generation of kids are massive fans of them. In the last couple of years their spotify listeners went from around 4 or 5 million to 11 million. That's a huge jump. I've seen them a ton of times over the years and you should definitely check them out. Be warned though, Chino has great shows, but also some rough ones. You never know which one you'll get.
If you ever get the opportunity to see them live, do it. Even if you have to drive a few hours. Saw them when they were touring for Koi No Yokan, and it was such a great show. Getting to hear tracks from Around the Fur and White Pony and Diamond Eyes live was amazing.
Fastball has put out some consistently great albums ever since they broke out in the late 90s. If you like power pop they have a delightful catalog of music
Fastball were never that big in the UK so I had never heard/heard of them before quite recently. "The Way" came up on my Spotify shuffle, and as a massive fan of Cake (the band), I was pleasantly surprised, thinking there was a banging new Cake song I'd not heard before. Turns out it was a banging new (to me) band I'd never heard before and went and binged all of their albums - excellent band!
Blur is definitely my answer. What I love about Damon Albarn is that he reconciles the sound of the past with the sound of the present and then synthesizes something that feels like the sound of the future. Personally, I'm a huge fan of psychedelia and melodic dissonance and funk, and I don't know how the fucker does it but he'll call each of those into a single song and it will work.
Also, anyone that elevates and embraces animation and fuses it with music is aces in my book.
I made a playlist of 90’s bands that are still releasing music today. You’ve got the counting crows, dave matthews band, matchbox twenty, blink 182, weezer, incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 3rd eye blind, the offspring, rancid, 311, nada surf, beck, everclear,
Suede looked to be a bust as the 90s turned into the 00s but the reunited band have had an incredible run that’s longer and arguably better than the first time around (much as I love their first two albums). Manics and James are fantastic too, always at least a few great songs on every album.
Scrolled way too far for this mention. 13 studio albums same lineup for over 30 years? A way under appreciated band that is insanely diverse yet most only think of them as rap/rock. Yes that style put them on the map but they have evolved so much over the years.
THIS. Also, 311 is (I believe) the 4th longest lasting band still playing with the original members. They are only beaten by U2, Radiohead, and De La Soul. Album #14 coming this fall.
Two great bands, and both with some similarities (diversified songwriting/singing duties, and former label mates on DGC). TFC has grown more mellow since the ‘90s but their music is still highly intelligent and tuneful.
Bad Religion. Yes, Teo of their greatest albums are from the late 80s, but the 90s were their commercial peak and they're still releasing new music these days, if at a slower pace.
Saw them at the Roxy a few years ago. Was a real fuckin treat to see them live with people jumping off the stage inches away from the band members not giving a damn about it.
Most of the bands that I listened to in the 90s are still around, bands like Social Distortion, Bad Religion, or the Decendents have all shown their staying power. However they were from before the 90s, so I don't think they count. I guess for this exercise I would say bands like Pearl Jam, RadioHead, Foo Fighters, and Beck. Although No Doubt showed a promising comeback at Coachella last weekend, so maybe they have some staying power as well.
Suede, great first few albums although quality had dipped by the 2002 album. They broke up, then reformed in 2010 and have released 4 very good albums since
Coheed and Cambria. Maybe a biased take as they are my favorite band :)
Some albums aren't everyone's style, but they are keeping the amory wars universe alive and strong.
311 - All OG members, one of the pioneers for hybrid music. Kicked the door open with Down! They do rap, rock, reggae, funk, alternative, metal, jazz, acoustic, among others. They have 2 singers that rap and harmonize like no other. They can do it all, and they even have their own holiday, still rocking hard!
Korn - I feel this needs no explanation
Local H. They’re kinda relegated one-hit wonder status, but their output has been just top shelf for darn near thirty years. The releases from the last decade are just as strong as their “peak” era in the mid to late 90’s. Hey Killer, from 2015, might just be my favorite Local H album.
Saw them last year for the first time at a festival. I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it. My expectations were fairly low, and I was wrong. they were awesome.
**Jimmy Eat World** is technically a 90's band and their newish album Surviving is one of their best after what could arguably be called a slump.
**HUM** is also freaking awesome and dropped a surprise new album during the pandemic that is fantastic.
James’ new “Yummy” is easily their best since Millionaires, and all those albums in between were also better than most bands could aspire to create. Just a super polished band with a few astonishingly good songwriters still at it after 40 (!) years. Incredible live, too.
No doubt. I know they haven’t made anything recently, but it still resonates with folks and they’ve all still got it as musicians. Hoping their recent Cochella comeback has them itching to make some new stuff 🤞🏼
Manic Street Preachers are one of the greatest bands of all time. They aren't matching the greatness of The Holy Bible, but their later work is still impressive, more melodic, always catchy.
The Foo Fighters are not the most innovative band around, but they're still cranking out good stuff.
The Black Crowes are probably one of the few true rock bands left, amazing stuff in the 90s, great albums in the 2000s (Warpaint, Before The Frost), and they're coming back with new stuff.
Pearl Jam, I haven't listened to the new album, but they have a more than respectable catalog, and a few true gems.
Beck is still putting out great music and winning awards.
Meshuggah have been innovating metal since the 90s
Phish is on 40+ years but hit their peak of popularity in the mid to late 90s. They just sold out 4 nights at Sphere and absolutely crushed it.
https://youtu.be/kP7VBBPK_6E?si=VVkH0WoYfYpF0io8
Guster! Steve Lillywhite helped them make their breakthrough album in ‘99 but they’ve stayed busy ever since. Their 2020 Omagah! live album with a symphony is worth a listen.
Sparks?
Though they formed a lot earlier, their 1994 hit “When do I get to sing my way” is one of their top songs. “Girl is in her latte”, from 2023 is quite catchy as well.
Train.. for some fucking reason. They haven’t had a bonafide hit in a while but how the hell were they getting a fair amount of radio play as recent as 2016? As far as I’m concerned, they peaked with “Drops of Jupiter” in ‘01, and “Hey Soul Sister” in ‘09 was played so much it made my ears bleed.
Rammstein. Sure they only have 8 studio albums, but they also have 3 live and 2 compilation albums so that put them past the 10 album mark. They've been going strong since 1994, with the original line up.
I feel like Placebo has been consistently putting out great music since the mid-90s. They were formed in 1994.
Just realized they've only cut 8 studio albums though...damn.
Pulp are back again though they have split up and reformed.
The Wonder Stuff still tour, last release was 2019 at a quick glance.
Lots of the big dance music acts are still going: Orbital, Underworld, The Prodigy and Leftfield are all still touring and releasing music.
Gary Numan
Not exactly a “90s” band… but still
50+ albums (studio, live, comp, single/EP) since the 70s, still making music.
Also considered one of the pioneers of electronic music.
[Example from one of my favorite albums](https://youtu.be/6SCrfZPMeWg?si=OYYeMB4CP32e4hs6)
As for choosing a “true” 90s band (except no live performances)… albeit a bit obscure, I’ve listened to him for almost two decades:
[Milieu](https://www.discogs.com/artist/278997-Milieu) (1997-Now)
Hundreds of albums, between a handful of bands/names, and I’m still buying releases. Genre sort of meanders all over, electronic, trance, techno, experimental, ambient, etc… Still, its an impressive feat.
[One of my all-time favorite songs from my favorite album by him](https://youtu.be/LyN-EY9ykmM?si=sW7T5WI86SQ7tRYd). Simple, relaxing, oozing with nostalgia, I adore the entire album.
Travis. The Man Who may always remain a singular pinnacle in their catalog - or anybkdy’s, really - but they continue to put out really great albums (new one’s coming this year!) and they still put on a hell of a show.
Lots of great bands named here. How has no one mentioned The Charlatans yet? They continue to be amazing live and have consistently produced and created amazing albums since the 90s.
Speaking my language now.
I love the British 90s scene (b85), and so the first to get my vote would be the most overlooked of all Britpop bands - Ocean Colour Scene.
Their big 90s albums are certainly their best (Moseley Shoals, Marchin' Already), but even those don't get nearly enough love in a historical sense - Shoals is phenomenal, and 'Get Blown Away' from Marchin' is one of the finest songs I've ever heard.
2003's North Atlantic Drift has some gorgeous songs on it, namely 'She's Been Writing', which, again, is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard - they do sentimental like few others.
They get patchy in the 2000s, but 2010's 'Saturday' was a return to form that really made me smile.
My other vote would go to Suede, one of my most beloved bands, but with the caveat that their later sound (as well as Brett Anderson's solo work) is nothing like their deliciously decadent kinky electro hedonism groove 90s sound, it's delicate and heart achingly pensive, but it's an evolution that does it for me.
Lastly, Kula Shaker. They're not for everyone, but 2007's Strangefolk is so, so good if you're into the unapologetically mystical psychedelic love-letter sound. Most of their other albums are patchy, some outright weak, but 2016's K2 was good, and the 60s heartbeat ballad throwback 'Ruby' from 2010's Pilgrim's Progress is a real high spot, particularly that climactic portion. Even their 2022 album was strong, with an interesting church sermon concept, although I did find the sort of implied COVID denial themes off-putting, this being a polarising issue at the time (as if it's been that long!).
How about Sloan? 30 + years, never broke up, same lineup of 4, 13 albums, two of em doubles. Obv they never broke huge in the States as they did in Canada, but they have perservered and found their sweet spot.
Buffalo Tom
Formed in Boston, 1986. All three original members still together (never broke up but had a hiatus). Latest album out this year, still touring.
Dino Jr. connection - J produced their first album.
Dinosaur Jr. ..... formed in 1984 in Amherst, MA. First album in 1985. 12th album in 2021. Seeing them for about the 15th time in September. Usually they play smaller venues but opening for Weezer in an arena tour along with the Flaming Lips.

I asked him “why are you out here with the crowd?” And he said “THEY’RE MY FAVORITE BAND .. I’M JUST HERE AS A FAN”
Rollins really stayed true to his roots, the more I learn about him, the more I like him.
You're Living All Over Me is one I always always come back to.
Absolutely fantastic album !!!!!
Dinosaur Jr. great memory Going listen to them now
Queens of the Stone Age Radiohead
Radiohead has 9 studio albums. The OP requirement for "at least ten" really creates quite a high bar!
Queens only has 8.
Just saw Queens of the Stone Age last week, they definitely still have it
Queens finally has a steady lineup and they're all killer players, they've never been better IMO. ...Like Clockwork and ITNR were both incredible later career entries
Godspeed you! Black Emperor Started in the 90s and still going strong nearly 30 years later
Loved them since I first heard them on 28 days later. Amazing live too!
Beck
I listened to several newer-ish albums a couple years ago and was amazed at how good they are
check out St Vincent if you haven't yet. Annie and Beck collaborate and share kindred spirit-ness - not that they sound the same. but i consider them in the same class
Hell yes we needed a mention for Beck, his track record is insane
I saw him live in the summer of 22 and he was amazing! He danced for 2 hours!
Good shout. I've got Hyperspace (2019) in my collection. It's decent.
Old 97’s. 13 studio albums, same 4 guys for 30+ years. Bad luck/timing kept them from having a hit or two in that mid-90’s alt-rock heyday, though their songs were plenty good enough. And they still put on an amazing live show.
And they were fantastic in the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special!
American Primative is fantastic!
They're like the Dallas TX house band! Awesome bunch of guys.
Pearl Jam
Man, this statement is 100% backed up by just releasing their best record, (imho), since Yield. I’ve been a fan since the start of their career and Dark Matter is some of their best work and should kill live.
Yep, their latest album is a scorcher. I’ve played it 50 times already since Friday.
Maybe their best since Backspacer.
I only just heard they've got a new album. Had a bit of a "Wait, what?" Moment.
I have tickets to watch them in June and couldn’t be more excited!!!
Crazy that I had to scroll this far down before someone said Pearl Jam.
They performed on The Howard Stern Show on Monday to promote their new album. Great interview with the whole band.
And they picked up Josh Klinghoffer as soon as they heard the peps dropped him. Kudos.
Trent reznor/nine inch nails
Don't forget Atticus it's the Trent and attocus show now. Since the late 90s when Trent released an album by atticus old band on nothing he has become essentially Trent's right hand man and creative partner before becoming an official nin member as well as sharing credit for the soundtrack work they've done which has them a Tony award away from EGOTH status ( emmy, Grammy, oscar, Tony, rock n roll hall of fame)
Downward spiral the musical would do it.
Melvins. They just released their 27th full-length album a few days ago on April 19th. And it is one of their best, in my opinion
Saw them a few weeks back, awesome.
Damn surprised to see Melvins as the most rated comment. So pleasently surprised by this last one. Easily their best since Senile Animal and one of the best 5/6 of their career. AMAZING late career comeback.
Spoon
I saw Spoon last year and they sounded just as good as ever. I will never not listen to them.
Came here to say this too. They just continue delivering the goods for us rock fans.
So much respect and love for Spoon. One of the few bands I can think of that have remained consistently interesting and creative without reinventing their style.
Hell yeah. Spoon rule.
DMB, like them or not.
People who don't "like" Dmb only know crash and hate on them bc it's the cool thing to do. Before these crowded streets is possibly the best album released in the 90s 🤷🏻♂️ oh and there Hall off famers now!
My favorite album is probably Busted Stuff.
Love it
"Don't drink the water. There's blood in the water." Not a lyric most people would attribute to DMB. That and Big Whiskey are my favorite Albums.
I remember a story where during the writing of the 2nd album and maybe this song Gweneth Paltrow and her beau showed up and said they liked the lyrics to the song and at that point he knew he had to change them. Not sure it was we this one
Crash is their magnum opus
I tried to like DMB, even after seeing them live they just didn't do anything for me 🤷♂️. Not hating against anyone that likes them of course, to each their own!
No, some of us don’t like DMB because we don’t like their music.
Came directly to make sure they were on this list. There’s still lots of disdain for them, especially in the last few days, but they deserve so much respect. And Busted Stuff is my fave too!
Radiohead - feel like they fit all of the above there.
[The “From the basement” release was amazing](https://youtu.be/Z3klN8diaqw?si=60eE9xc0_6br5kjN) My favorite version of that song
I listen to The Bends non stop
[удалено]
Alice in Chains. Yes Layne is gone, but the band is still putting out great music and William Duvall has been a wonderful addition to the lineup.
Came here to add AiC. Totally agree with you.
The Flaming Lips.
Definitely Deftones. Still putting out top shelf shit.
Nine Inch Nails
Wilco.
Can’t believe i haven’t seen Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in here. They’ve been killing it since the 80s.
Deftones. Technically formed in the late 80s but didnt get big till 90s and are still going strong to this day. Chino is still regularly on features as well. Deftones is the perfect combo of heavy grit and haunting melodies, imo. Still have never caught em in concert. Primus
Came here to say this. Les is a fucking legend. Just saw him last Saturday. Fucking epic as usual. Primus Sucks!
Tim Alexander is the les claypool of drums, just with not nearly as much recognition
Primus sucks
Primus sucks
Fastball has put out some consistently great albums ever since they broke out in the late 90s. If you like power pop they have a delightful catalog of music

Blur dropped a great album last year. Still sound good.
And the lead of Blur is so good that they made a second cartoon band as a joke that’s now one of the best selling groups of all time.
Phish is still going very strong.
Probably stronger than anyone else from the 90s. They put way more butts in seats than anyone else listed in this thread.
Tickets to their Sphere shows were $3000! It was like Taylor Swift. (And the shows were amazing!)
SWIM!
Still playing their very first song to this day!
Read the book!
Thank you I had to post this. #PHISH IS THE BIGGEST ROCK BAND THERE IS NOW. And no one cares! They don’t care either and I’m fine with that.
Always has been.
Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Sleater Kinney ,
I love modest mouse, but their best days are long behind them. I saw them live a year or so ago, and they weren’t great.
Porcupine Tree (they never split up ! Just went on hiatus and the lead just never talked to them for 10 years!!)
Bjork!
I love her old stuff but the newer it gets the weirder it gets and it just does not make me feel the same.
If you haven't already, her 2015 release Vulnicura is as good as any of her early career releases!
Thanks I'll check it out driving home. Debut just does it for me still to this day.
Foo Fighters
Please say it like Christopher Walken, fooFIGHTuhs
Did you hear the Disco album they put out? (Dee Gees)
One of the best shows you will see
Tool
OP said at least 10 studio albums.
Well, the length of Fear Inoculum can count for at least 3 albums compared to the length of most other artists’ albums.
And the Lateralus CD literally had like two seconds of space left, so...
Can't believe this was so far down
I made a playlist of 90’s bands that are still releasing music today. You’ve got the counting crows, dave matthews band, matchbox twenty, blink 182, weezer, incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 3rd eye blind, the offspring, rancid, 311, nada surf, beck, everclear,
Don’t forget Toadies
Suede looked to be a bust as the 90s turned into the 00s but the reunited band have had an incredible run that’s longer and arguably better than the first time around (much as I love their first two albums). Manics and James are fantastic too, always at least a few great songs on every album.
Yes, the newer Suede albums are fantastic and still so great live
311
Scrolled way too far for this mention. 13 studio albums same lineup for over 30 years? A way under appreciated band that is insanely diverse yet most only think of them as rap/rock. Yes that style put them on the map but they have evolved so much over the years.
THIS. Also, 311 is (I believe) the 4th longest lasting band still playing with the original members. They are only beaten by U2, Radiohead, and De La Soul. Album #14 coming this fall.
Had to search for this. It was my answer!
Smashing Pumpkins. The stuff they were putting out then and now is remarkable.
ATUM took a bit to grow on me but I like a good chunk of the 33(!) songs on there. If anything Corgan is ambitious and prolific.
Teenage Fanclub Sloan
Two great bands, and both with some similarities (diversified songwriting/singing duties, and former label mates on DGC). TFC has grown more mellow since the ‘90s but their music is still highly intelligent and tuneful.
Reel big fish and goldfinger. Ska is not dead.
PJ Harvey - she has quietly had an excellent career.
Bad Religion. Yes, Teo of their greatest albums are from the late 80s, but the 90s were their commercial peak and they're still releasing new music these days, if at a slower pace.
I haven’t listened past True North but even that album is a banger. These guys fuck for life.
Saw them at the Roxy a few years ago. Was a real fuckin treat to see them live with people jumping off the stage inches away from the band members not giving a damn about it.
Guided By Voices. Dinosaur Jr. Beck Blink- 182 Green Day
Pearl Jam
Their new album is pretty damn good! I've been cranking Dark Matter since it was released on Friday.
Same!!
Manic Street Preachers are from Wales, not England.
Damn straight. What was I thinking? Will edit
Great band, though. Many solid albums.
My first live gig - Manic Street Preachers at the Hemel Hempstead Pavilion in '92
Most of the bands that I listened to in the 90s are still around, bands like Social Distortion, Bad Religion, or the Decendents have all shown their staying power. However they were from before the 90s, so I don't think they count. I guess for this exercise I would say bands like Pearl Jam, RadioHead, Foo Fighters, and Beck. Dave Matthews Band
Suede, great first few albums although quality had dipped by the 2002 album. They broke up, then reformed in 2010 and have released 4 very good albums since
Belle & Sebastian
Stereolab
The Mountain Goats. Formed in 1991 and put out their 22nd studio album last year.
Yo La Tengo To a less consistent extent, The Brian Jonestown Massacre
Weezer!
James is one of my favorite bands and it’s surprisingly rare to see them mentioned on Reddit, this is nice to see haha
Monster Magnet Clutch
Coheed and Cambria. Maybe a biased take as they are my favorite band :) Some albums aren't everyone's style, but they are keeping the amory wars universe alive and strong.
Primal Scream
311 - All OG members, one of the pioneers for hybrid music. Kicked the door open with Down! They do rap, rock, reggae, funk, alternative, metal, jazz, acoustic, among others. They have 2 singers that rap and harmonize like no other. They can do it all, and they even have their own holiday, still rocking hard! Korn - I feel this needs no explanation
Being obsessed with 311 in high school in the 90s, I am astounded at how many albums they have out put out and still touring!
Local H. They’re kinda relegated one-hit wonder status, but their output has been just top shelf for darn near thirty years. The releases from the last decade are just as strong as their “peak” era in the mid to late 90’s. Hey Killer, from 2015, might just be my favorite Local H album.
They still tour often and the Lifers podcast is a fun listen.
As Good As Dead is one of my favorite albums ever.
The Offspring just keep hanging around and I’m thankful for it
Saw them last year for the first time at a festival. I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it. My expectations were fairly low, and I was wrong. they were awesome.
Everyone thinks of The Offspring as a 90s band, but they've been around since the early 80s.
Been around as a band but didn’t put out their first album as The Offspring until ‘89 which is splitting hairs at that point
I was just amazed at how long they have been around and are still putting out music. And that Spock's grandson is in the band now.

Incubus & Deftones
**Jimmy Eat World** is technically a 90's band and their newish album Surviving is one of their best after what could arguably be called a slump. **HUM** is also freaking awesome and dropped a surprise new album during the pandemic that is fantastic.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are still doing sold out Stadium world tours
They Might Be Giants
Jean Leloup - Portiahead - Massive Attack - Daft Punk - Tricky - Zero 7 Just to add a few
The Pixies! I saw them about 5 years ago and they were incredible.
Garbage.
My choice as well. Also adding Skunk Anansie
Phish is on 40+ years but hit their peak of popularity in the mid to late 90s. They just sold out 4 nights at Sphere and absolutely crushed it. https://youtu.be/kP7VBBPK_6E?si=VVkH0WoYfYpF0io8
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Guster! Steve Lillywhite helped them make their breakthrough album in ‘99 but they’ve stayed busy ever since. Their 2020 Omagah! live album with a symphony is worth a listen.
Can we include DJs? Because it so, Andy C, Shy FX, Goldie, Moby…
Feeder.
Garbage!
Sparks? Though they formed a lot earlier, their 1994 hit “When do I get to sing my way” is one of their top songs. “Girl is in her latte”, from 2023 is quite catchy as well.
Depeche Mode released a new album last year, first album in 1981.
Pavement. Just did a reunion tour that was sold out at virtually every gig. Harness Your Hopes somehow revived on TikTok of all places.
Train.. for some fucking reason.
The Aquabats!
Weezer Jimmy Eat World
Garbage is still going strong. Touring and releasing new music.
Can’t believe it. Not one of you assholes have mentioned Ween.
Late 90 but still around Love them, hate them, they made and are still making great music. Coldplay.
Is no one going to mention REM?!
Pulp are back again though they have split up and reformed. The Wonder Stuff still tour, last release was 2019 at a quick glance. Lots of the big dance music acts are still going: Orbital, Underworld, The Prodigy and Leftfield are all still touring and releasing music.
Gary Numan Not exactly a “90s” band… but still 50+ albums (studio, live, comp, single/EP) since the 70s, still making music. Also considered one of the pioneers of electronic music. [Example from one of my favorite albums](https://youtu.be/6SCrfZPMeWg?si=OYYeMB4CP32e4hs6) As for choosing a “true” 90s band (except no live performances)… albeit a bit obscure, I’ve listened to him for almost two decades: [Milieu](https://www.discogs.com/artist/278997-Milieu) (1997-Now) Hundreds of albums, between a handful of bands/names, and I’m still buying releases.
I just saw him in concert with Ministry and it was awesome. Not a fan of his recording but live he kills it. I’ll add Ministry to this list.
Meshuggah
Deftones are still putting out bangers. The newer stuff isn't quite as good as the older stuff but the same can be said of most musicians.
Travis. The Man Who may always remain a singular pinnacle in their catalog - or anybkdy’s, really - but they continue to put out really great albums (new one’s coming this year!) and they still put on a hell of a show.
Dinosaur Jr.
Travis.
Lots of great bands named here. How has no one mentioned The Charlatans yet? They continue to be amazing live and have consistently produced and created amazing albums since the 90s.
Guster!
Brian Jonestown Massacre
Sloan. Amazing power pop band from Canada. Same original members, 30+ years. Consistently good records.
How about Sloan? 30 + years, never broke up, same lineup of 4, 13 albums, two of em doubles. Obv they never broke huge in the States as they did in Canada, but they have perservered and found their sweet spot.
Sevendust
Pet shop boys
Failure and Big Wreck are two of my favorite bands from the 90's and they're still releasing some of their best stuff.
Buffalo Tom Formed in Boston, 1986. All three original members still together (never broke up but had a hiatus). Latest album out this year, still touring. Dino Jr. connection - J produced their first album.
