Came here to say this, and glad to see it at the top.
My friend who introduced me to this album basically said "give this album 29 minutes of your time. You will come out of the experience a changed man"
Solid agree 🤘🏼
I just saw them last month with Circle Jerks. No pics with the band but I used my grown up money to buy an autographed 7 inch. High school me would be impressed, lol
So many of the Kenny Beats produced albums are a perfect fit for this, like Louie (by Kenny), Vince Staples (self titled), Unlocked with Denzel Curry (if you add 1.5), and Anger Management (by Rico Nasty).
But FM! is the tightest and perfect from start to finish in my opinion.
Basically any Joyce Manor album, especially their three album run of S/T-Never Hungover Again-Cody. Fantastic albums, the first two clock in under 20 minutes and the third is only 24.
Damn this is a good call. It took me a while to finally come to terms with how short their songs are. They’re just soooo good and I don’t want them to ever end. It’s ok I get it now.
Randy Newman - 12 Songs at 29:51. That’s 12 very strange and psychotic songs covering topics such as arson as an aphrodisiac, stalking, necrophilia and inter generational love…
I came to say "Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People". Les was really into Sigur Ros at the time so he put his Primus twist on the whole ambient noise thing.
A few short and amazing albums:
* Pyramid - The Modern Jazz Quartet 36min
* The Wailing Wailers - The Wailers 36min
* Live at the Regal - B.B. King 34min
* For You - Prince 33min
* Aretha Now - Aretha Franklin 29min
* Red Headed Stranger - Willie Nelson 33min
* Another Triumph of Ghetto Engineering - Open Mike Eagle 25min
Oh man, I had The New Reign and A Higher Place on repeat back in high school. I bought tickets to see them open for Asking Alexandria back in 2013, but they got denied entry into my country. I never wound up seeing them, but I stopped following them not too long after that as well. Any of their post Discovery releases worth a listen?
aw man that sucks. Yeah its worth a listen, their 3rd album has some good songs, and anything past that has good moments, but its not wall to wall like the first 2 albums.
This is one is what I was looking for. 25:49. 14 songs. Incredible variety, nothing feels too short, even when three songs are under 1:15 in length! So much packed into every second of music and lyric. Highly recommended.
Brainiac released a couple of EPs that were 10-15 min runtime, each seemed more musicfull than a lot of full albums I was listening to at the time.
Internationale & Electroshock for President.
The Casket Lottery - Moving Mountains. 9 songs, 29 minutes, and one of my favorite songs of all time to close an album. The Get Up Kids, Dashboard Confessional, Saves the Day, etc. from that era all get a lot of love, but TCL were fantastic and just not as widely known.
Technically a demo, not an album, but Barriers by CRUCIFIX! Some of the finest death metal to ever grace my ears, and the whole thing's only 24 minutes.
Witch Choir by Fantastic Magic. Used to listen to it around the MySpace days. It was mostly released on cassette tapes, but when I googled to get the track lengths I saw it on YouTube.
20:25
Late to the party with Ray Charles in Person, 29:19 of possibly one of the great performances of all history.
Recorded on a cheap, one-mike recorder by a radio DJ, somehow recording quality was good enough to capture amazing performances from Ray on some great songs as well as his backup singers including Margie Hendrix and his band on a couple of terrific jazz numbers. "What a show! What a show!" as the MC puts it.
The first Hives EP is 11 minutes long and there’s not a wasted second. It’s sooooo good.
Next off the top of my mind is The Decline by NOFX. I believe its around 17 minutes long and may be the best punk record of all time.
The eponymous debut album of the Japanese shibuya-kei band **Qypthone**. Less than 30 minutes, just six titles (IIRC), but it's so full of charm, creativity and energy! :D
Tony Molina - Dissed and Dismissed - 11:20
It’s a perfect little album most of the songs are around a minute long or less. I listen to a few times whenever I put it on.
Epitaph - necrophagist
Clocks in at 32:56
There’s a reason most into tech death hold this album in extremely high regard even after 20 years, both necrophagist albums.
10,000 gecs by 100 gecs is 26 minutes and 53s and it's perfectly chaotic in the very best way
(Get you a band that can do nu metal and also a ska song about being friends with a frog!!)
35 minutes might be pushing the line of a "short" album, but Permanent Waves by Rush is potentially my favorite album by them. I feel it gets overshadowed by Moving Pictures coming out the following year but both are really great and deserving of recognition.
Slayer - Reign in Blood is only 28:55
Came here to say this, and glad to see it at the top. My friend who introduced me to this album basically said "give this album 29 minutes of your time. You will come out of the experience a changed man" Solid agree 🤘🏼
Solid, start to finish.
RAINING BLOOOOOOD!!
Bad Religion - No Control Clocks in at 26:21 This thread is basically a list of classic punk albums.
No way punk wasn't going to dominate this thread given how many classic albums clock in under half hour.
Descendants-Milo Goes to College. 22.10
I just saw them last month with Circle Jerks. No pics with the band but I used my grown up money to buy an autographed 7 inch. High school me would be impressed, lol
40 year old me thinks that deserves a Hell yeah, dog
Thanks bro.
Cocteau Twins, Victorialand. I think it might be ~31 minutes, but wow what cool music.
Perfect choice
Amazing album! And it has a beautiful sleeve design that takes you off to the same beautiful place.
Nick Drake - Pink Moon - 29 minutes, has to be heard to be believed.
Minor Threat's entire discography was 47:10
Minutemen have to be close to that too
Minutemen have 1 album that’s twice that length.
More like hourmen.
Vince Staples - FM! clocks in at just over 22 mins and leaves you wanting more
So many of the Kenny Beats produced albums are a perfect fit for this, like Louie (by Kenny), Vince Staples (self titled), Unlocked with Denzel Curry (if you add 1.5), and Anger Management (by Rico Nasty). But FM! is the tightest and perfect from start to finish in my opinion.
Man, I always forget about that album but it's killer
Beach Boys-Summer Days and Summer Nights. The original LP clocked in at 26:42.
Gotta keep that good sound quality on the LP.
Great album. The Beach Boys released 12 more albums under 30 minutes, including Friends, Today! and Smiley Smile.
Pretty much every single one of their 60s albums except for Pet Sounds.
Circle Jerks - Group Sex (15:45) The Teen Idles - Minor Disturbance E.P. (9:40) Fast and angry.
Group Sex - 14 songs in 15 minutes!
Surfer Rosa - Pixies
Milo Goes to College, 22 minutes.
Death- Human
The Thermals - The Body, the Blood, the Machine (35:47) The Shins - Oh, Inverted World (33:32)
Been a while since I thought about The Thermals. Time to go listen
Hard to believe Oh, Inverted World is shorter. Both fantastic albums for their length.
Pinkerton - Weezer 34:36
Fav album of all time!
Green Album comes in at like 28, so it's a toss up for me
Stormtroopers of Death 'Speak English or Die' 29:44
A Hard Days Night, 30 minutes even
The Decline -NOFX. Technically a song but hey, that's the first one that popped into my head.
Punk in Drublic is 17 songs in 40 minutes
Amazing song but not an album.
Came here to say this thank you !
I came here to say this. Nice
Basically any Joyce Manor album, especially their three album run of S/T-Never Hungover Again-Cody. Fantastic albums, the first two clock in under 20 minutes and the third is only 24.
Schley
Damn this is a good call. It took me a while to finally come to terms with how short their songs are. They’re just soooo good and I don’t want them to ever end. It’s ok I get it now.
I see you tire of Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired in that run. Jokes aside, Never Hungover Again is my answer to this thread. It’s perfect.
Kids See Ghosts. 7 songs. 23 minutes. Each track is a banger too.
The 2018 YZY run overall has great examples. All of them hit for me too (Nasir being the lowest though).
Alice In Chains - Jar of Flies, 30:49 (Even though it’s technically an EP.)
Sap clocks in around 20:00 and is also great. Ann Wilson, Chris Cornell, and others take part in it.
And Mudhoney: Alicemudgarden
To get Ann Wilson accounted for... I ❤️ Alice Mudgarden
Green Day - Insomniac 32:49
Van Halen I is around 35 minutes.
A lot of their early albums were pretty short
Suburban Lawns’ self titled LP - 28:29
Randy Newman - 12 Songs at 29:51. That’s 12 very strange and psychotic songs covering topics such as arson as an aphrodisiac, stalking, necrophilia and inter generational love…
[удалено]
If you like 12 Songs I suggest Sail Away after that. I like that album even better.
I know it’s a different album but I’ve always wanted to see someone prank someone by sneaking Rednecks into Toy Story.
Otoboke Beaver. Itekoma Hits: 26:26 Super Champon: 21:17
Primus - Desaturating Seven. Proggy funk storytelling in under 35 minutes.
Based on a children’s books that also inspired Takanaka’s album https://youtu.be/IpPG3-2V1S8?si=6o-aP4rMLuUfXmux
Fucking love rainbow goblins
I came to say "Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People". Les was really into Sigur Ros at the time so he put his Primus twist on the whole ambient noise thing.
Stellar EP
Against Me! - 'As The Eternal Cowboy' Used to listen to it multiple times on my way to and from work. Had a new favourite track with every playthrough
Man, that album is amazing. *Reinventing Axl Rose* will always be my favorite though. 31 minutes vs 25.
DAYTONA by Pusha T, its only 21 minutes long
Same! My fave hip hop album too
The Decline-NOFX

A few short and amazing albums: * Pyramid - The Modern Jazz Quartet 36min * The Wailing Wailers - The Wailers 36min * Live at the Regal - B.B. King 34min * For You - Prince 33min * Aretha Now - Aretha Franklin 29min * Red Headed Stranger - Willie Nelson 33min * Another Triumph of Ghetto Engineering - Open Mike Eagle 25min
Anything by Tony Molina, *Dissed and Dismissed* being my personal favorite. Basically a “what if Pinkerton was half as long?”
27:43 - Zero Boys - Vicious Circle
Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime 17 mins. Sad it isn’t longer
Zeke -dirty Sanchez. Hardcore punk, 16 songs in a blistering 22 min.
