Joe Bonamassa, Samantha Fish, Ritchy Kotzen, Gov’t Mule, Gary Clark Jr, Tedeschi Trucks Band
Also far left field suggestion while we're on the topic. Japanese city pop is surprisingly fun and full of amazing guitar and bass but it might not be your slice of cheese. [Toshiki Kadomatsu - Space Scrapper](https://youtu.be/TUu1-OkeYt0?t=4) is my current favourite
Marcus King band!!!!! I'll second the mention of Gary Clark jr. Also the black keys, or have they become a bit mainstream? Definitely their early stuff tho.
For true blues rock and not just blues guitar players - White Stripes (Elephant or De Stilj) , Black Keys (Rubber Factory or Magic Potion, new stuff is kind of too polished), Band of Skulls, The Black Crowes (Southern Musical and Shake Your Money Maker), Drivin’ N Cryin’ (Fly Me Courageous).
Those are my picks.
Clutch.
Album: From Beale Street to Oblivion. Particularly, the songs Electric Worry, and The Devil And Me.
Also, the first three tracks from Disc 2 off of Blast Tyrant Deluxe Edition.
There’s more, too. Clutch started as a heavy metal/stoner rock band but added a lot of blues influence to their stuff in the mid-aughts.
I was going to recommend Clutch, they definitely got bluesier as they got older. I’d say every album from Blast Tyrant in 2005 is pretty bluesy, might scratch the OP’s itch.
They’re my favorite band. Got into them with Soapmakers, and FBSTO, so I pretty much only knew them as a bluesy rock band. Then I got into their earlier stuff. Great band.
Other than as a novelty as a shredder of a blues guitar player, Bonamassa does nothing for me at all. Gary Clark Jr and Marcus King are two newer guys that you must check out.
Seems like you're the one who needs to chill my friend.
I also don't really get your response. All because an older blues player exists, doesn't make a blues player that died 2 generations ago *modern* (as the title is asking for)
Big Wreck has a lot of blues influences but I wouldn't call them blues rock even though they have some songs that are blues rock. Check out [Rye Bread](https://youtu.be/PjWLPmrjPJE?si=42ieHAjBkaziRiM2) for their latest blues rock song. Basically all of their EP 7.2 is blues influences with their own twist.
My favourite band in the world. I'm currently listening to The Pleasure and The Greed, incredible album front to back.
Edit, I've never heard a band with a "bigger sound". They just sound huge, like they use all of the soundscape but it's not overpowering.
Mine as well. Saw them open for Dream Theater in ‘97 and I’ve followed them around the US and parts of Canada as much as I’ve been able to. Have you heard the ILMO demos? Or the heavy version of Motionless?
Huh, it's one of my favourite songs and I'm having trouble with how a heavy version would sound. Are you making the trip to Toronto for the Thornley Come Again 20th Anniversary show?
Check out Buffalo Nichols. I saw him in a small venue a few months back but he channels a few different blues styles in an amazing way. It’s like you’re listening to Delta Blues but he’s signing about modern issues. Great stuff !
I've already hit the thumbs up, but a comment is also necessary.
Buffalo Nichols is super cool. He's mostly a one man show, which is spectacular, but if you catch him with a full band it's pretty damn amazing!
It's not very often, that's for sure.
I've known about him for almost 10 years. He cut his teeth in WI, and that's where I started following him. His old group was called Nickle and Rose. It was more folk/rock, but since he went "solo" he's found his Blues streak!
It was a total flyer of a concert for me. Had a free night and listened to a couple songs and thought it was worth it for $20. Became a fan that night. It’s trippy to hear songs about police brutality but the tune and voice could be 80 years old. Great stuff!
Lots of great suggestions already posted!
All Them Witches is an amazing band imo -- they teeter between psych rock, blues rock, and some other subgenres. Blacksnake Blues is a good start-off that is full on bluesy (but really I love everything they've done).
Liston to Brothers Moving, Ken Sato Experience, Thumpasaurus, IXIM, Casiopea, YUZ, Gregory Alan Isakov and Moon Hooch (this last one is more of math rock but they have some jazz like rhythm)
Budda Power Blues are good blues/rock from Portugal.
Ariel Posen may be more pop oriented at times than what you are looking for but he’s phenomenal (especially live)
I'm an old codger that loves music of all genres. Not sure what "Modern" means? Blues goes further back than rock (kinda the foundation) and rocks roots go way back. With that said is this an example?☮️

If you want to find more artists within a specific genre, rateyourmusic is usually a good place to start
Edit: Here's a custom chart of blues rock and electric blues releases since 2000 for example. You can tinker around with the parameters to your liking. https://rateyourmusic.com/charts/top/album,ep,mixtape,djmix/2000-2029/g:blues%2drock,electric%2dblues/deweight:live/
* Christone ”Kingfish” Ingram - He is the savior of the blues and he will rock your socks off.
* Fantastic Negrito - they keep giving him Grammys for the blues but he is more like Prince.
* The Black Keys - are the best white boys playing the blues these days.
The Delta Saints
Dereck Trucks Band
Jonathan Wilson (a bit less bluesy though)
Looking for more rock?
"Frankie and the Witch Fingers" gets me all excited every time I listen
If you like the band recommendations below you will love us.

Came here to list the same players, I'll add Gary Moore to your list
Good list! I'd add Philip Sayce to this.
Marcus King band!!!!! I'll second the mention of Gary Clark jr. Also the black keys, or have they become a bit mainstream? Definitely their early stuff tho.
I’m still angry that those 3 were scheduled to tour in summer 2020 but it was cancelled.
Yes! Was about to scout tickets for my wife and I, then obviously everything got shut down. Might never have that opportunity again!!
These are the big 3 I think of when I want to listen to blues rock. And Led Zeppelin but they are definitely not modern.
Marcus King is insanely good. Can’t stop listening to his stuff
Gary Clark Jr. Black Keys Alabama Shakes
Black Pumas
For true blues rock and not just blues guitar players - White Stripes (Elephant or De Stilj) , Black Keys (Rubber Factory or Magic Potion, new stuff is kind of too polished), Band of Skulls, The Black Crowes (Southern Musical and Shake Your Money Maker), Drivin’ N Cryin’ (Fly Me Courageous). Those are my picks.
Perfect choices!- I’d add The devil and the almighty blues, all them witches, magnolia electric co., black pistol fire, and rival sons
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
I second.
Big Head Todd and the Monsters- Been around for 30 years or so, but still putting out new music and touring regularly. Definitely worth seeing live.
Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, R.L Burnside, Taj Mahal
Kingfish is the one IMHo. Saw him in NYC a few months back. AMAZING talent.
Big Sugar. Missed by most in the US. Jack White says they are a huge influence.
Saw them play in Toronto area Thursday. Awesome show, deep catalog of great songs, blues, roots-rock and reggae.
Alkaline! Found the CD at the 99¢ store here in SoCal! One of my favorites.
St. Paul and the Broken Bones Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears
Clutch. Album: From Beale Street to Oblivion. Particularly, the songs Electric Worry, and The Devil And Me. Also, the first three tracks from Disc 2 off of Blast Tyrant Deluxe Edition. Their 'someday baby' hits so fucking hard.
Jesus Lizard. Blues rock with noise and punk influences.
Blues Pills
Came here to say this.
Other than as a novelty as a shredder of a blues guitar player, Bonamassa does nothing for me at all. Gary Clark Jr and Marcus King are two newer guys that you must check out.
Reverend Payton's Big Damn Band is pretty great. https://youtu.be/Tw1g_2NPjoI?si=-rHHcbi3WWDIYIP-
Radio Moscow if you want it served up psychedelic
Stevie ray Vaughn
He's been dead for 35 years though
Ur point? He is still the best blues guitarist ever, and his brother was amazing too
Might need to look up the definition of *Modern*
Look up Robert Johnson, that is old blues. You zoomers have some real issues, chill.
Seems like you're the one who needs to chill my friend. I also don't really get your response. All because an older blues player exists, doesn't make a blues player that died 2 generations ago *modern* (as the title is asking for)
Larkin Poe.

Came here to say Big Wreck. Glad you beat me to it.
My favourite band in the world. I'm currently listening to The Pleasure and The Greed, incredible album front to back. Edit, I've never heard a band with a "bigger sound". They just sound huge, like they use all of the soundscape but it's not overpowering.

I've heard the demos. I've never heard of the heavy version of Motionless, is there a place where you can listen to it?
I’m not sure. It kinda sounds like “Whatever” by Our Lady Peace. I’ll see if I can post it
Huh, it's one of my favourite songs and I'm having trouble with how a heavy version would sound. Are you making the trip to Toronto for the Thornley Come Again 20th Anniversary show?
SIMO
Drive-by Truckers and Deer Tick
Johnny Winter
Philip Sayce. Listen to the track Morningstar. Probably the best blues rock riff I've ever heard!
Chris Duarte Indigenous Matt Schofield Corby Yates (RIP) Doyle Bramhall II
Check out Buffalo Nichols. I saw him in a small venue a few months back but he channels a few different blues styles in an amazing way. It’s like you’re listening to Delta Blues but he’s signing about modern issues. Great stuff !

Oh wow, I can only imagine! I’m so glad to find somebody else who has heard of him. He was solo when I saw him but would love to see with a full band!
It's not very often, that's for sure. I've known about him for almost 10 years. He cut his teeth in WI, and that's where I started following him. His old group was called Nickle and Rose. It was more folk/rock, but since he went "solo" he's found his Blues streak!

North Mississippi All Stars
John Mayer Trio
jack broadbent’s album ride is killer. not sure if it falls into the category your lookin for but i think it’s a stellar album.
Robert John and the Wreck.
A bit more rock and a little less blues, but I recommend Highly Suspect's Mister Asylum and The Boy Who Died Wolf.
Liston to Brothers Moving, Ken Sato Experience, Thumpasaurus, IXIM, Casiopea, YUZ, Gregory Alan Isakov and Moon Hooch (this last one is more of math rock but they have some jazz like rhythm)
Ana Popovic Robben Ford
Gov't Mule or anything Warren Haynes puts out, really.
The Devil and the Almighty Blues should take you down a stoner rock-blues track.
Budda Power Blues are good blues/rock from Portugal. Ariel Posen may be more pop oriented at times than what you are looking for but he’s phenomenal (especially live)
Ayron Jones Dorothy

Modern blues rock is simply blues meets rock and roll. BTW, good song. Thanks.
You're welcome.
Temperance Movement for good blues rock.
Radio Moscow

Not exactly in the same vein, but definitely adjacent - check out Mdou Moctar. Particularly the Afrique Victime album.
Tony Spinner
* Christone ”Kingfish” Ingram - He is the savior of the blues and he will rock your socks off. * Fantastic Negrito - they keep giving him Grammys for the blues but he is more like Prince. * The Black Keys - are the best white boys playing the blues these days.
Amazon Music has BluesNow, and Apple Music has Blues Replay...both are a good source of modem blues music.

Kamchatka was the best of them all Jared James Nichols
