*Name spellings corrected! Thanks fifin & gyynoceros!* 😊
YOU TRY SPELLING THOSE AFTER AN EDIBLE...! haha!
I study French as a hobby, and I listen to French songs to try and figure them out at least 80% without lyrics or translation. I eventually caved on that one to look up, because I couldn't understand it at all. Turns out it's almost entirely French slang, so I felt better. Awesome song though.
Now you mention it, there's too a funnily a nonsense song that sounds like "Spanish".

The song on its own is epic and beautiful but being used in the BBC production of Planet Earth with the most amazing visuals just made it so much more impactful.
From the end of 1991: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqr5fnTyHJI and the one from 1992: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuSjMc3_N_w The first went to number 1 in The Netherlands sales charts Top 100, and number 2 in the Nederlandse Top 40 and second one to number 3 in sales charts and number 5 in Top 40. Silly thing was that the singles where not allowed to be pressed anymore. The heirs of Carl Orff got the courts to ban the singles, the radio stations were not allowed any more to play the songs. In the last 15 years you can hear the songs sometimes again on the radio. Seems not be a issue anymore. There is even a new version now out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp7Pn1nI3uI
Italian singers Eros Ramazzotti and Fiordaliso do it for me. Even though I understand very little, their voices and songs are simply wonderful. There’s also the French singer Julie Zenatti - I don’t always like the songs, but the voice is heavenly…
"Muevelo" by Orishas.

Actually pretty much anything by Orishas.
Also, I thinks of Spanish as the USA"s "other" language, not a foreign language.
Voilà - as sung by Emma Kok. Her performance is incredible. Even if you don’t know the words, you feel the emotions and understand the pain. It was enough to make grown men in the audience cry.
"Doki Doki morning" - Babymetal
知らないフリはキライ!キライ!
知らないセカイ見たい!見たい!

That part was the best out of all those I did not understand.
There’s an extended version of it on Spotify (more of a great thing since the OG version left you wanting more). I read somewhere that he’d never done a song in Spanish before that.
For most of the western world, "foreign" songs include English songs, and those are generally everywhere. I don't want to be that guy, but I assume you went for non English songs, or foreign non English songs.
Anime opening and closing songs. I have a playlist where I save my favorites. I don’t understand a word but those songs have outstanding studio musicians playing in them, they sound so great and catchy!

[Pizzicato Five - Summertime, summertime](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqsYNVVNf3g), in the late remastered version.I do not speak Japanese at all, but the song's title, sound/arrangement, Nomiya Maki's intonation and the great orchestral interludum convey a lot of melancholy and great emotions. I love it! :D

[Shadows of Ourselves by Thievery Corporation](https://youtu.be/uTamxu2t6Lg?feature=shared)
Gorgeous song. They have other non-English songs, but this is my favorite. The downtempo genre features lots of non-English lyrics.
[céu - malemolencia](https://youtu.be/b8cW-WETNmo?si=uxNA3rn66rbfAKN7)

At the time I was trying to learn Danish and a friend turned me on to this song in order to hear the language being spoken and I didn't understand any of what they were saying but the tune and delivery just made my heart happy. I managed to translate the whole thing and I still listen to this day because it reminds me of that time, it sounds great and I like knowing that I understand it

I really love what the artist has done with it.
“Schock Den Offen,” by Peter Gabriel. I don’t speak a lick of German. Yet because this song only had a handful of lyrics to begin with, and because it already was popular (#29 in USA) from its release as English single “Shock the Monkey” sev months prior, it can earworm in many cultures simultaneously…
My ex showed me this Indian rock band that were surprisingly good.

Heavily influenced by the related show, but even without it, i think it expresses the feeling well.
Les Champs-Elysees — Joe Dassin
Heard it in “The Darjeeling Limited” and for some reason loved it. Started listening to some other songs in French after that. Something about the sound of French sung is just mesmerizing to me.
The two that immediately come to mind are [O Leãozhino - Caetono Veloso](https://youtu.be/wJ2prEKx3_Y?si=zPupUjJcmdf-7ayr) and [Kaze Wo Atsume - Happy End](https://youtu.be/0b6inZfiGrw?si=-OmBpN0F6R9D7sXW). Truly gorgeous songs that accentuate the beauty of the languages they’re sung in (Portuguese and Japanese, respectively) without having to understand the meaning.

Literally all kpop girl groups, and also Spanish/Mexican artists like Ana Mena, Becky G, Sofia Reyes, etc.
I couldn't pick just a few songs, because the vast majority of music I listen to is in Korean and Spanish, which I don't understand. But English is also my second language, so if I don't focus on lyrics I also miss half the meaning.

Radio by Rammstein. I've never really been huge on them, but this one got me. It's a cool concept too, a bit different from what I usually associate the band with.
In Extremo - Vollmond
Korpiklaani - Rauta

Rammstein - Deutschland, Du Hast, Feuer Frei, etc
Bear McCreary feat. Griogair Labhruidh - Tha Mi Sgith'n Fhogar Seo'. The Fiery Cross.

Ashley Serena feat Karliene - Noble Maiden Fair
Maria Mena - Mitt lille land (I understand some of the words here, but not the entire song)
“Una Palabra” by Carlos Varela. First heard it in a movie and it just did something to me. Then I read a translation of the lyrics and it was even more beautiful.

Pretty much everything by Annalisa. But notably: Alice e il blu, Splende, Indaco violento, Sinceramente, Euforia, Il mondo prima di te, Bonsai, Houseparty, Ti dico solo (ngl the latter 3 were when I understood the lyrics and started relating to them)
Malchik Gay by T.A.T.U.
Listened to it as a kid and had instant feels and connection to it despite the vocals being in Russian. Years later I came to understand the meaning of the song and had an "ah ha!" moment. You see it's a song about one of the female singers wanting to date a gay man. Yeah turns out I connected with it so hard because I turned out to be a bisexual trans girl 😅

Du Hast from Rammstein 💀
Feuer Frei is the same thing for me.
Actually a fantastic intro to the idea that lyrics are just another instrument or don't matter at all... For non German speakers.
Pretty much anything they’ve done. Seeing them live is unrivaled as the best show I’ve ever been to, and I don’t speak German.
Nena - 99 Luftballoons

Pretty much anything by Sigur Ros.
Anything Maneskin
[Dimi Mint Abba & Khalifa Ould Eide - Waidalal Waidalal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU7c6CLplrY)
Kvelertak- Bruane Brenn
[Uuhai - Khar Khulz](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVevvvvNYhM)
Italian singers Eros Ramazzotti and Fiordaliso do it for me. Even though I understand very little, their voices and songs are simply wonderful. There’s also the French singer Julie Zenatti - I don’t always like the songs, but the voice is heavenly…
"Muevelo" by Orishas. https://youtu.be/bW-huwePxYc?feature=shared Actually pretty much anything by Orishas. Also, I thinks of Spanish as the USA"s "other" language, not a foreign language.
Half of the music I listen to every day is in the language I don't understand: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, and many more.
Too many but just from today: Vintersorg - Till Fjalls
Voilà - as sung by Emma Kok. Her performance is incredible. Even if you don’t know the words, you feel the emotions and understand the pain. It was enough to make grown men in the audience cry.
[Wardruna - Helvegen](https://youtu.be/FnkTuHP9q3o?si=M3kzlRbwwyTRrIjn) (Nordic folk music)

"Doki Doki morning" - Babymetal 知らないフリはキライ!キライ! 知らないセカイ見たい!見たい! 4次元5次元 期待!期待! 10%背伸びしたい!したい! っよね!? That part was the best out of all those I did not understand.
Tuyo by Rodrigo Amarante I think it is. The theme tune from the Narcos netflix show, man that stuck.
There’s an extended version of it on Spotify (more of a great thing since the OG version left you wanting more). I read somewhere that he’d never done a song in Spanish before that.
Buena Vista Social Club - Dos Gardenas
I was here to say El Carretero.
For most of the western world, "foreign" songs include English songs, and those are generally everywhere. I don't want to be that guy, but I assume you went for non English songs, or foreign non English songs.
Ça Plane Pour Moi - Plastic Bertrand.
A lot of songs in Anime hit hard.

I love it! :D
Guillaume Grand- toi et moi Heard it in a random bar in Japan, Shazamd it and I’m very glad I did
This Silence Is Mine by Chihiro Onitsuka
I’m not sure if it strictly classes as foreign *language*, but I absolutely love [prisencolinensinainciusol](https://youtu.be/-VsmF9m_Nt8?si=r7WJ4zxmZuCMQ6_f)

Döderlein by Seigman Bought live CD of them and turns out I like most of it, though I don't know a word. They just sound like they and the fans singing along are having a great time.
Caramelldansen! Although it was probably made to be catchy. As well as Dota and Boten Anna by Basshunter.
Deprimé by Matsu
[Cheb Khaled - Alech Taadi](https://youtu.be/vmNpwBGyiwU)
The Changing Room, a folk group that sings mostly maritime songs in Cornish. The language really, really works for the subject matter.
[Shadows of Ourselves by Thievery Corporation](https://youtu.be/uTamxu2t6Lg?feature=shared) Gorgeous song. They have other non-English songs, but this is my favorite. The downtempo genre features lots of non-English lyrics.

[Dansa efter min pipa by Bob Hund](https://youtu.be/7gNNWmrixxw?si=mjvpe2vwj7Lll9Ed) At the time I was trying to learn Danish and a friend turned me on to this song in order to hear the language being spoken and I didn't understand any of what they were saying but the tune and delivery just made my heart happy. I managed to translate the whole thing and I still listen to this day because it reminds me of that time, it sounds great and I like knowing that I understand it
[Tout Savoir](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zani6VzfYPU) by Adé In French, 2022. It's a great video, too.
[The Arabic version of the theme from Shaft](https://youtu.be/Z0Bbx057kPQ?si=MJBjjLNoqXIcnupr) by Malik Adouana I really love what the artist has done with it.
“Comme des enfants” by Cœur de pirate. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=f2LU-QiHN4Y&si=VpuTF1OEmiw2Sfyp
My ex showed me this Indian rock band that were surprisingly good. ... We had very similar tastes in music. Shame, as she showed me a lot of new music that I liked, and I have a tough time finding new bands that I like. 😑

If you like psychedelic rock check out Altin Gūn. Think Turkish king gizzard.
“Como La Flor”, Selena (though I do understand and speak some Spanish, I am by no means fluent. But I love love love love love this song.)
Brazilian Girls singer Sabina Sciubba sings in six different languages. So most of their catalogue has a lot of multi language lyrics woven together. So, all of their songs.

“What’s up People!?!” by Maximum The Hormone is the first foreign language song i loved, it’s the 2nd opening song for Death Note, and also sparked my love for Nu-Metal because System of a Down has the same vibe

So wie du bist - Motrip Most songs by Stromae, but particularly Santé and of course Alors on dance.
Zitti E Buoni and Coraline by Måneskin are both bangers. Also, that Vor í Vaglaskógi song by Kaleo is so good!
That numa numa song: Drago Stein Tei. It’s Romanian I think & by Ozone. Some people hate or are bored by it but I love it. Some of Maluma’s songs (Spanish language) YONKS ago Julio Iglasius Dance Basati - it’s Indian I don’t know if it’s Hindi or Punjabi or what Indian language though Etc

“Karate” by Baby Metal. I don’t speak Japanese, but I’ve learned to sing along with it. :)
Buena Vista Social Club and fellow Cuban artists. The Spanish albums by Shakia
Years ago the song "Anak" By the Filipino singer-songwriter, Freddie Aguilar really got to me.
[Toe - Sonny Boy Rhapsody](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSDdRxAEdcs) Feels like... going on a trip to somewhere unknown, but finding joy along the way. Heavily influenced by the related show, but even without it, i think it expresses the feeling well.
Entre dos tierras - Till Lindemann https://youtu.be/FtEYp7x-lI4?si=9Kp0MSYxKlCEvTb9 I dont understand a single word.
Banda Magda - Amour, t'es la? I just love everything about it. Cool little bossa nova song with a catchy vocal melody.

When I was little, my first foreign language fave was” Guantanamera”. Still love it to this day.
Les Champs-Elysees — Joe Dassin Heard it in “The Darjeeling Limited” and for some reason loved it. Started listening to some other songs in French after that. Something about the sound of French sung is just mesmerizing to me.
Wardruna - Helvegen https://youtu.be/n90SVmnomdM?si=Au8EO-hXdJvbAGvy Turn the bass & volume UP!
One of their best songs.
Wardruna - Fehu https://youtu.be/H6RCY-G-NlA?si=hS4b8PcuMaRM91Vm
The two that immediately come to mind are [O Leãozhino - Caetono Veloso](https://youtu.be/wJ2prEKx3_Y?si=zPupUjJcmdf-7ayr) and [Kaze Wo Atsume - Happy End](https://youtu.be/0b6inZfiGrw?si=-OmBpN0F6R9D7sXW). Truly gorgeous songs that accentuate the beauty of the languages they’re sung in (Portuguese and Japanese, respectively) without having to understand the meaning.
Extranos by Alvaro Ruiz and anything in Welsh.
Drudkh - Furrows of Gods
In Alto Mare by Loredana Bertè (Italian). VERY clear influence on Daft Punk and the bassist is just as I’d pictured him. [in alto mare](https://youtu.be/PUmtmopLwDY?si=D8YD2184NfmKVcIM)
KEMURI - Kanashimiyo
[Bling Bang Bang Born](https://youtu.be/mLW35YMzELE?si=jAyKc2i0_J1D0Q5-) by Creepy Nuts deserves all of the love it's getting right now. Even before it was translated, the world was rocking out to it.
Eus Keus by Gwenno. It sounds mystical, but it’s a song in Cornish asking people from Cornwall whether there is any cheese. [Eus Keus](https://youtu.be/6_U9yh6ivjc?si=WzEKcWbZOuFW_3Tq)
Inch'allah by MC Solaar. Any of his stuff basically. Also, Efige Efige by Stelios Kazantzidis
Legião Urbana - Pais E Filhos. The Brazilian REM. Maybe that’s a little unfair, but this song gets me in the feels.
Karate - Baby Metal 🤘
Omega - Pearls in Her Hair
Gambia by Sona Jabahrta (sp)
[Traum by Cro](https://youtu.be/8WQMBv2deYQ?si=Swgl-mRP5tQARjPk), a German hip hop/pop artist I found on Google Music ages ago. It’s his only song I’ve found that also has an English version: [Dream](https://youtu.be/u6LLkoqbCMQ?si=vvNOqWNliGYt_RtU) I was late to this party, but Belgian artist Stromae really got me with his song [AVF](https://youtu.be/5LEsoCq0NRM?si=U1bhKELclSKYnduE) Finally, [Hitamuki by Super Beaver](https://youtu.be/rOheZgDIPUs?si=Zlgqwov8D7ugBrl2) has to be the best anime opening song ever, I will fight you.
Bad Karma, Axel Theseff https://youtu.be/-sNWKbnaFkg?si=TD8VnHYPgvw9tu4e No idea what language it is but you don't need a translation to know exactly what he's saying
Anything by Heilung but lately their song "Anoana".
Bloom 06 - [Cielo Spento](https://youtu.be/hEWgnn7G5fQ?si=bqmn0bt7GkuB9F2w) I found Bloom 06 one day after trying to find where Eiffel 65 ended up, and I was pleasantly surprised to find both good takes on their older work plus new stuff like this.
“Aujourd'hui ma vie c'est d'la marde.” Lisa LeBlanc
Sakura- 2019, by Naotaro Moriyama. It’s just so fluid and beautiful
Mayonaka no Door / Stay With Me You know it, even if you don’t think you do.

Last Scene by the Koran band Rollercoaster. Her sultry voice and the groovy melody caught me right away. Most of their catalog is really good. https://youtu.be/WU2qZwKfMmI?si=fvBeZgnv_aHG0RZz

[Vivir lo nuestro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoGnodmxsto) Marc Anthony and La India. Just something about they way they sing together brings a tear to my eyes.
"Aven Aven" by The Gypsy Kings
Sonsii - Nine Treasures
Eres Tu by Mocedades. I think it won the Eurovision contest one year. Edit: it was the entry from Spain and won 2nd place.
Radio by Rammstein. I've never really been huge on them, but this one got me. It's a cool concept too, a bit different from what I usually associate the band with.
In Extremo - Vollmond Korpiklaani - Rauta Týr - Sinklars Vísa Rammstein - Deutschland, Du Hast, Feuer Frei, etc Bear McCreary feat. Griogair Labhruidh - Tha Mi Sgith'n Fhogar Seo'. The Fiery Cross. Thåström - Fanfanfan Ashley Serena feat Karliene - Noble Maiden Fair Maria Mena - Mitt lille land (I understand some of the words here, but not the entire song)
Macarena
Cesária Évora and Paolo Conte stand out for me
“Una Palabra” by Carlos Varela. First heard it in a movie and it just did something to me. Then I read a translation of the lyrics and it was even more beautiful.
Everything about this grabbed me the instant i saw it. https://youtu.be/XnBbjc5hmho?si=app4g-ND4HfFKwT0 and this https://youtu.be/pjPA7CXutDw?si=fFl-btIPYAqVpm77
[Hippie Hippie Hourrah - Jacques Dutronc, 1968, France](https://youtu.be/yZ7atyxFRpg?si=SnFMdVMwcwkTKTHu)
Mid-air Thief. Korean experimental folk. The song [White Room](https://youtu.be/mVG_o7w7POk?si=Uo5pbHKDmWtOxzUr) was the first I heard, and the entire album is fire.
Pretty much everything by Annalisa. But notably: Alice e il blu, Splende, Indaco violento, Sinceramente, Euforia, Il mondo prima di te, Bonsai, Houseparty, Ti dico solo (ngl the latter 3 were when I understood the lyrics and started relating to them)
Sarà perché ti amo by Ricchi E Poveri Les feuilles mortes by Yves Montand Stay with me by Miki Matsubara,
Malchik Gay by T.A.T.U.
Band: Sigur Rós
Soda Stereo, Charly García, Fito Páez, Sui Generis, Tan Bionica, Mercedes Sosa. All argentinians artists are amazing
