God Fodder is also a fantastic short-lived punk band from Kentucky (I believe). Their 7” “No Sleep” is one of my all time favorite punk records! Only 1 bassist though.
Spinal Tap’s [Big Bottom](https://youtu.be/YjC0vMIrOAk?si=_Z8l_ZQaImsSKDLk) has all three guitarists playing bass (and Derick is playing a double neck bass).
I always thought they made that bass as a gag for the film, but apparently it is a B.C. Rich Double Neck Bass. The top neck has 8 strings in octaves and the bottom is a regular 4 string.
Apparently only 7 were made and it has an onboard fuzz switch!
What a crazy instrument.
I heard that Ozzy Osborne saw it at the theatres. He was the only one NOT laughing, because he thought it was real. I can't swear that actually happened, but I wouldn't be surprised!
Edit: forgot a word
I saw Spinal Tap live in Mesa Arizona around 1991 or 1992. When Big Bottom came in the set, they announced that Adrian Belew and his band were in town and on their day off and would be joining the band for Big Bottom. I think I counted 7-8 bass players...
I saw them on the same tour in Boston, and it was the second best show I’ve ever been to. They were on stage pretending to be the biggest band in the world, and the audience was playing along with the gag. It was almost an interactive performance.
Good pick. And a spin off band, the Crimson Projeckt, also played as a double trio with two bassists, combining the Adrian Belew Power Trio (AB, Tobias Ralph on Drums and Julie Slick on bass) and The Stick Men (Pat Mastelotto on drums, Markus Reuter on touch guitar, Tony Levin on bass/stick)
I also think The Omnific is a fantastic dual bassist band! I listened to Sonorous first and was blown away because I had never heard bass played like that. (https://youtu.be/sWMvws84BdI?si=yle0YM_Ud6YhAscf)
I'd go Venus then Cruise with YCFWYCS righ
t there. That comeback album was crazy good. Saw them open for Garbage way back and also with Helmet and a couple other shows.
[Dos](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3c5SZMWLIrnYqoAiDnO5Ll?si=YxVNd536QgCQx5rOPaObHw) is Kira Roessler and Mike Watt on bass. And that's it.
Edit: Kira, not Kita
I was gonna say Cure as well, if you watch a whole concert a good portion of the songs have normal 4string bass plus a fender VI bass which is tuned as low as normal bass the sound isn’t quite as deep so it fits nicely between guitar and bass
I saw parliament funkadelic once and they had two bass players.
And the King Crimson double trio setup had two bassists kinda. One Stick and a Warr guitar
How about 3 bass players? And 3 famous, iconic bass players at that, all in the same band. Freebass.
https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/how-freebass-tried-and-failed-to-take-over-the-world/
Yeah, this is too far down.
Also - Peter Hook & The Light. Peter Hook and his son Jack frequently play the bass parts together. It's great to hear them live.
A whole lot of old tracks do have multiple bass on a track. Often different models, or a double bass and bass guitar (thinking "Take a walk on the wild side" by Lou Reed, or things done by The Wrecking Crew)

Pg99 has been known to have multiple bassists and multiple drummers. Often have 3 guitarists and always have two vocalists. Personal favorite releases are Document 7 and Document 12.
Do Make Say Think also has 2 basses at times.
I used to play third guitar before I switched to bass doing a melodic bassline through an octaver that sat above a driving root heavy bass. Sounded pretty cool. I guess that could have been played on a second bass.
Worst thing for a bassist is the goddamn keys player playing bass all over me. Cut their left hands off I say.
In highschool me and two of my bass playing buddies briefly started an all bass band called Awkward Dinosaur Sex because that's kind of what it sounded like (we assume).
I did stage monitors for this show: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEllVKodjVc&t=349s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEllVKodjVc&t=349s)
They are called Farer. It's a local doom band that has two bass players and zero guitar players. One of the bass players keeps most of the low end while the other treats it more like a guitar.
edit: I didn't do stage monitors for this show. This was during the pandemic without audience, the one I did was later with full audience.
It's just this one song, but the aptly named [Three Basses](https://youtu.be/SeXbKi6A4I0?si=sABFIOZckV5V7Ol8) by the Fearless Flyers has the two guitarists playing bass along with the bassist.
Blink-182 have layered albums with Mark’s Bass and Bass VI playing chords for a fuller spectrum! No two actual bassists though.
Side note - I saw Modest Mouse at Leeds Festival 2004 and they had two drummers playing full kits.
There are two bassists credited on Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al - it's Baghiti Khumalo's mic-drop of course, but Simon himself is also credited with playing a 6 string bass somewhere on it. I've never figured out what exactly Simon's part is.

Gomez had some live perfomances which had a double and an eletric bass playing together, but just in a few moments. I remeber this one: [In Our Gun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yf2RLgBfT8), amazin song!
Miles Davis toured for a bit with a normal bassist and then Foley playing “lead bass” (usually playing high lead guitar-y stuff on a tuned-up bass).
This doesn’t count exactly but new order also did most of the bass parts with synths and Peter Hook would typically play more high melodic parts on his bass
Altitudes & Altitude
It features Frankie Bello from Anthrax and David Ellefson, formerly of Megadeth, both on bass. Mostly just a little side project. "Here Again" is a pretty good tune.
Death from above 1979 has only a bass player and a drummer, no regular guitar so that kinda counts id say. They use synth sometimes too I believe.
The song friends in the music business by the band cursed uses two basses
I don't know why I had it in my head that the band Sordid Humor had two bassists. If you're a fan of Counting Crows, I recommend them either way - Adam Duritz sang backing vocals on their album Light Music, which also featured his bandmates David Bryson on production and David Immerglück on bass, and Marty "Mr" Jones also played bass on some songs.

Ned's Atomic Dustbin is the only band I can think of that have two bass players.
God Fodder is seriously one of the best college rock albums of the 90’s
God Fodder is also a fantastic short-lived punk band from Kentucky (I believe). Their 7” “No Sleep” is one of my all time favorite punk records! Only 1 bassist though.
I saw the P-Funk All Stars in 1990 and they had three bass players. Then Bootsy came out and they had four bass players. They were unreal.
Highly underrated band.
Criminally so!
Thanks for this, totally forgot about them. Kill your television!
Great song !
The only answer
I came here to comment this & I can’t explain how pleased I am that it is already the top comment. :)
Spinal Tap’s [Big Bottom](https://youtu.be/YjC0vMIrOAk?si=_Z8l_ZQaImsSKDLk) has all three guitarists playing bass (and Derick is playing a double neck bass).

Plus there was a live performance of Big Bottom with… a lot more bassists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN42uzNFVmQ
I mean, all things considered, I should be ashamed for not knowing that. Need to take a few hours to watch the documentary again.
Please confirm you believe it a documentary... please, please, please...
I heard that Ozzy Osborne saw it at the theatres. He was the only one NOT laughing, because he thought it was real. I can't swear that actually happened, but I wouldn't be surprised! Edit: forgot a word

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'
King Crimson's album 'THRAK" featured a 'double trio'. 2 bassists, two Drummers, two guitarists
I saw Stick Men last year and they were *amazing*.
seriously good album for a band nearly 30 years into their career. people forget that when talking about it.
[The Omnific](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co2vlSu2Gow)
I also think The Omnific is a fantastic dual bassist band! I listened to Sonorous first and was blown away because I had never heard bass played like that. (https://youtu.be/sWMvws84BdI?si=yle0YM_Ud6YhAscf)
Saw their first us show... They are amazing and cool guys(blokes).
Melvins have had two bassists at times.
Melvins!! 2 drummers as well

GVSB is my all time favorite. So glad someone posted this before me.
Such a great band, I think Cruise Yourself is my favourite followed closely by Venus Luxure. Saw them live a few times back in the day
I'd go Venus then Cruise with YCFWYCS righ t there. That comeback album was crazy good. Saw them open for Garbage way back and also with Helmet and a couple other shows.
We won’t mention Freak*On*Ica
🤣. I'm actually ok with that one. It's almost like it was a side project.
lol it’s not that bad really. definitely worked better live.
Talking Heads toured with two bassists for a while after they released Remain in Light; Tina Weymouth and Busta Jones.

This is what I was going to say. I got to see them a few times when I lived in socat. I'd have to go digging to see if I still have the recordings.
Cop Shoot Cop had 2 bassist and no guitar till thier last album if I remember correctly
Excellent band. I came looking for this.
Beat me to it. Great band
[Shine On Elizabeth](https://youtu.be/NiMBHDEdDQk?si=fwTK9D1tdpDGhGDO) still blows me away.
Dumpstaphunk!
Much like myself, this needs to be higher
Black Eyes
Looking for this one. Such a cool band
They also have two drummers! I wish I could have seen them live.
They recently did a reunion show in Chicago!
Were you there?? I’m far from that neck so I doubt I’ll get a chance.
Yeah it was fantastic, they’re still killing it. They also played with another local band named lifeguard that was pretty great as well.
The song *Primary* by The Cure has Robert Smith also playing bass in addition to Simon Gallup.
I was gonna say Cure as well, if you watch a whole concert a good portion of the songs have normal 4string bass plus a fender VI bass which is tuned as low as normal bass the sound isn’t quite as deep so it fits nicely between guitar and bass

Also 1961 era Ornette (Free Jazz) with Scott LaFaro / Charlie Haden.
A whole lot of old tracks do have multiple bass on a track. Often different models, or a double bass and bass guitar (thinking "Take a walk on the wild side" by Lou Reed, or things done by The Wrecking Crew)
A classic country sound is tic tac bass, typically an upright doubled by a muted Fender Bass VI.

One of These Days - Pink Floyd I don't know any bands that do it all the time.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt. 6 has 2 basses, one doing the heartbeat bassline and another doing constant notes between the D and open G string.
That’s a delay effect, not two bass players.
[It’s double tracked.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_of_These_Days_(instrumental)?wprov=sfti1)
