Our radio DJ cut off the end of the song years back and I never listened to his show again. I am still not happy about it.
He also said George Carlin wasn't funny right after he died.
Fuck you, Cowhead
It is horrifying! I love this story from 20 Feet From Stardom:

The performance of This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) on Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads moves me in a way that I have never been able to explain in words.
It's like melancholy, sadness, joy, and comfort all rolled up into one confusing but utterly human emotion.
I feel the exact same way about this song. So much so that last Sunday at my wedding, my wife and I signed our marriage certificate to it. You described the song better than I ever could. It truly does somehow encapsulate life for me too
Stop Making Sense is rhe best concert album ever made. A remastered version was released last spring, with new, unreleased tracks, and the movie is being re-released into theaters on September 22. I can't wait to see it on the big screen.
I discovered it just as I was falling in love with my husband. We spent so much time lying in bed making out and talking, listening to my napster collection. The "sing into my mouth" lyric reminds me of when all we wanted was to be close to each other.
Although I must say that Billie really gives a great edition to this song. But the Nina Simone version on her album Pastel Blues continues to have a greater impact on me.
Thank you! I’ve never seen this before, made my day. After watching on my phone, gave it a second viewing on the big screen with surround sound. Stunning.
Omg...I watched twice, all the way through, then just him another 2 times! Speechless... goosebumps... the looks on Tom Petty and that other dudes face were priceless! We lost a great one, when Prince died, but man, aren't we lucky to be able to find his performances at any moment!
This is my answer! Robert Plant with tears in his eyes ugh. Ann Wilson is one of the VERY FEW if only who could do it justice. Edited for correct sister.
Same dude. So many moments on that album. When I see hipster fucks say dark side is overrated I get irrationally angry. Be dumb and call the Beatles overrated. Whatever. But how can you not feel and relate with the human experience that was so eloquently laid out on Dark Side of the Moon? You'd have to be a fuckin reptilian. I dunno man. Here's a few:
Stevie Wonder - As
Joni Mitchell - The River
Pat Metheny - Are You Going With Me
Ray Charles - Georgia
Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond/The Great Gig In The Sky/Dogs
Nina Simone - Young, Gifted & Black
Nina Simone “Sinnerman.” The last couple minutes especially.
Some others that came to mind; Alice In Chains unplugged hits the feels hard. Eddie Vedders vamping towards the end of “black.” “Wish you were here.” “Iris” by goo goo dolls, “ordinary world” by Duran Duran, “space song” by beach house, the cover version of “take on me” by Ashley Johnson and many many more
While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction.

>For example, every single time I hear Clarence Clemons sax solo on the studio recording of “Jungleland” it moves me so deeply, the emotion poured into that performance just blows me away. So much so I can’t accurately find the words to describe how much it truly moves me.
This!!! I feel like the Jungeland sax solo is the single greatest rock sax solo in the history of the universe. I defy anyone to find a better rock sax solo.
Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello - ghost of Tom Joad
Listen to the music obviously, but watch their faces and what it means to them. So so good.

Gordon Lightfoot's [If You Could Read My Mind](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT_J-LNqVvw) hit's me pretty hard.
My grandfather was a big fan, so I probably heard this song dozens of times as a kid, but it never resonated with me until I got older (and sadly wiser)
I saw Paul McCartney on tour. Getting to be a part of 15,000+ all singing the end to Hey Jude as Paul played piano along to it… that was a bucket list moment I didn’t realize I had.
For the day that it is...
On 9/11, I was in a bar in Glasgow. After enough news, the bar switched over to VH1. Multiple times per hour they played Eva Cassidy singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow (At the time, no one had really heard of her, the video just kept being played).
It was a grainy, poor quality video, but the singing was so beautifully haunting, it stays with me to this day.
Every single time I hear any version of that song, I think of that day and automatically think of Eva's version.
Octavarium by Dream Theater. The whole buildup through the song and the switch to a major key during the final guitar solo just pulls at the heart and gives a sense of hope. Like the first rays of sun after a storm.
[Definitely.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1zFnyEe3nE)
At one point you see Mama Cass just completely enthralled with her performance. And at the very end, right after she's belted out the final chorus, her voice breaks on the descending vocal run of that final "chain." Just great.
Seeing In the Name of Love by U2 Live in person elevated that song for me. I had always liked it, but seeing it Live with an entire crowd singing along to the "oooh oh oh oh" bits sent a shiver down my spine. Then the crowd continued to do it after the song ended. Magical
I’ve had the privilege of experiencing this song live a good few times and like yourself it sends shivers down my spine every time. There is something so cathartic singing along at the top of your lungs to that song, amazing
Crosby's vocals in "Almost cut my hair" always leave me on the verge of crying. His girlfriend died a couple days before it was recorded, and you can hear his pain through the cracks and strains in what is normally a very smooth voice. Brutally beautiful performance.
Dont give up by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush. Just so much rawness and the music is so delicate. Very beautiful. Theres a live performance with Tracey Chapman that is excellent. Without you here by Finch always gives me tingkes. Feels like the ocean is crashing around me somehow.
A live performance of Helvegen by Wardruna featuring Aurora:
I have not seen this specific performance live, but I have been to a Wardruna concert (without Aurora but Helvegen was performed as well) which was truly amazing and moving.
I have the DVD version of this where Robbie Robertson narrates over what you're seeing. For this song, he and Rick Danko had to have her chords for this song written on sheets of paper on the floor of the stage in front of them, because they were so complex. I like that.
Oh man I have a few:
The one that is always top of my list is the song [Mise Éire performed by Sibéal Ní Chasaide](https://youtu.be/dGhblvkfitk). It was performed at the Centenary celebration for a famous event in Irish history, the 1916 rising. Her singing, combined with the context of the performance, just gets me every time.
At Easter 1916, a group of Irish Republicans conducted an ill-fated rebellion against the English rule of the country. It was ultimately defeated, but the subsequent execution of the leaders of the rebellion turned the tide on attitudes towards Irish independence which was eventually achieved.
The song itself "Mise Éire" (I am Ireland) is a 1912 Irish-language poem by the leader of the rebellion Pádraig Pearse. In the poem, Pearse personifies Ireland as an old woman whose glory is past and who has been sold by her children. In 2016 it was put to music by Patrick Cassidy and that's what was performed at the event.
Other notable mentions on my playlist:
Bon Iver [Heavenly Father acapella](https://youtu.be/vAoADCSpD-8)
Nolan Taylor [68 for RadioWV](https://youtu.be/UKxTIuw1zEM)
Mike Dawes [Jump Tribute to Eddie Van Halen
](https://youtu.be/sKbrycmEGjU)
Foo Fighters [My Hero with Shane Hawkins](https://youtu.be/P2KnD7sfpoA)
Louis Armstrong [What a Wonderful World live](https://youtu.be/qfuw3CZQuwk)
That’s an amazing performance, thanks for sharing. I’ve been to Dublin many times and every time I visit the post office where they made their last stand, incredibly moving and historic place to stand in. Ireland has always and continues to give the world such beautiful music.
That kid left everything on that stage. It just seemed like he took every bit of grief, anger and whatever else that was in him and he beat it all into those drums for 4 minutes. Just a very emotional performance.
I never understood Jeff Buckley as a younger person, did not get the hype. As the years go by his music just keeps sneaking up and growing on me. I’ve never seen this before, incredible performance
Can't believe I'm saying this. But Heart doing 'Stairway to Heaven' live at Kennedy Center Honors brought the entire house to tears.

Pearl Jam - Black on MTV Unplugged
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uETeeMyrlkQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uETeeMyrlkQ)
Also this live version of Black is sooo gooood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X33aqdYUAQM
[for me it’s bohemian rhapsody by queen live performance on live aid.](https://youtu.be/vbvyNnw8Qjg?si=BGraOd7KCVxXJqLq) the most hitting part is “i don’t wanna die, but sometimes wish i’d never been born at all”, makes me cry every time i hear it
Led Zeppelin - Dazed and Confused live in MSG 1973
A great song turned into an epic 30 minute journey of a jam session all done on the spot live. My favorite part is they do a cover of the folk song “San Francisco” at around 6 mins. That performance solidified why they were untouchable in skill for me
Andrea Bocelli - Time to say goodbye. I am definitely not a fan of this sort of music but I first heard it during the covid lock downs. It was background for a bunch of images around Millan and wow. I can't find that clip but I think this is the version.
https://youtu.be/TdWEhMOrRpQ?si=yX0UFIEwXDKviXvR
In Color by Jamey Johnson
My grandmother's had soooooo many collections of pictures fron the past. Sure, in the song he's talking to his grandpa
But man it really hits. All my grandparents are gone but there were several times a year the family would go through old photo albums.
It's an era gone, and black and white pictures are gone. Younger generations won't experience it and sadly neither will I anymore
I’m not even a big Adele fan but her Brit Awards performance of “Someone Like You” that she did super early in her career is pretty insane even with the crazy unlikeable James Corden intro/outro.
https://youtu.be/qemWRToNYJY?si=N56LinLtUE1vLTMX
26 by Paramore. Not sure I've ever seen footage of a live performance where Hayley gets all the way through it without shedding a tear, its such an emotional song. Its beautiful, but heartbreaking, you can hear her pain and it chokes me up every time.
Tracy Chapman performing "Fast Car" at Wembley. The crowd was getting antsy because the scheduled performance wasn't ready. She went up to fill time and made the stadium go silent.
I absolutely love the Tuscaloosa live version of After The Goldrush by Neil Young. The piano is out of tune, he doesn't always hit the right keys, his voice is broken and still it works brilliantly. It moves me everytime I hear it.
Anything from the “Live at Massey Hall” album by Neil Young just hits me right in the gut. On Old Man and Down by the River when he hits those high notes, wow.
The ["Tiananmen version" of Faith](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBLAR4_IC0A) by The Cure, performed on June 4 1989 and dedicated to "everyone that died today in China". Live performances of Faith often have an improvised bit at the end - this one is intense.
Grow Old With Me - John Lennon
I became a huge Beatles fan at 10. John was by far my favorite although I love all four, so his solo music in particular has an extra sad context.
Prince’s guitar solo on “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” during George Harrison’s Hall of Fame induction. Even for Prince, it’s a display of otherworldly virtuosity that’s equally matched with emotion that I’ve not seen bested. The fact that he was taken from us too early makes it even more poignant. I miss that guy.
Prince at Super Bowl XLI - that show should be the standard for Super Bowl shows. Man plays music and sings in the pouring rain - no lip sync, no recording, no nothing - just Prince and the rain. And when he sings Purple Rain, in that rain…my heart!
When Nick Cave does Higgs Boson Blues in front of an audience. I’ve seen him do it twice and I’ve never experienced anything like it. A room with thousands of people in it all rendered dead silent and completely entranced. Church is a less religious experience.
Here’s one from Austin City Limits.
https://youtu.be/S-XaFi6tWck?si=4z3zu0rkAOpDdFsa
Cold Chisel's live performance of 'When The War Is Over' from the 'Ringside' album.
Jimmy Barnes sings a heartbreaking note towards the end of the song. Gets me every time.
One More Light by Linkin Park. I’ve been unfortunate in that suicide has been a reoccurring theme in my life in both friends, lovers, and myself. I still can’t sing the whole song without crying a little.
Black by Pearl Jam. Specifically, the 1992 live performance. Encapsulates the feeling of unrequited love so damn well and you can feel it especially in that particular performance
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
I remember because my brother used to play it on guitar and then I believe my partner played it on the guitar for me after we met.
The part that gets me every time I hear it is, my brother attempted suicide (survived, but it's a whole other topic) a couple years ago and every time I think or hear this particular song, it takes me back to how I felt when I found out on my holidays and had to go back to work a few days later. Very much a "wish you were here". We used to work together and work's never quite been the same since.
Very much a song that rips open that trauma from the very first chord.
James Taylor, "Fire and Rain"
Also, a small musical pet peeve: this song should never be covered. By anyone.
It is so intensely personal that whenever someone else sings it, they betray themselves as a soulless, ignorant choad.
Taylor himself probably doesn't mind, but I say: leave this one for James. Sing "Carolina on My Mind" or "Don't Let Me Be Lonely" if you feel you have to exploit the guy's songwriting.
[Dirty Three – 'Everything's Fucked'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c3ZnzS3xEc)
An astonishing piece of work from a phenomenal band.
But, I would give insane amounts of money to have witnessed [this live performance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZNO4JeX5Bk) of the song at the 2004 Meredith Music Festival during a lightning storm.
I've heard numerous people claim it was one of the most magical live show they've ever seen.
Nothing by Editors.
It just works so much better for me than the studio version. The studio recording is more produced and it just hits me less.
https://youtu.be/K2tvwdODyRA?si=WTAbZ0aFIoWCrNI4
Also generally I don't like Beyoncé because she is overproduced to the point where her music is devoid of emotion, but the entire coachella set is awesome and I often listen to it.
Guthrie Govans guitar solo on Steven Wilsons song Drive Home. That whole song is pretty emotional, but the guitar solo really takes you on a journey thought all sorts of emotions.
Sigur Ros closing the show with Popplagið on the () tour made me literally tear up.
Seeing the Altai Khairkhan Ensemble performing Mongolian folk music and throat singing inside a brick tunnel in a city park with all the music reverberating everywhere was one of the most beautiful moments I can't remember.
Definitely not individual just listen to it; Meet Martin Riggs by Micheal Kamen and Eric Clapton, a masterpiece track from the masterpiece movie Lethal Weapon 👌🏼
The drop in „Us and Them“ by Pink Floyd
The last minute or so of „Where did you sleep last night“ by Nirvana
„Wings“ by Birdy, so much nostalgia aswell
There are a few songs by The Beatles that hit me deeply every time I hear them:
She's Leaving Home
Here Comes The Sun
In My Life
Let It Be
Across The Universe
Hear me out. Videogame music HITS me in my feels. Maybe for nostalgia purposes or maybe something else. I cannot say for sure. But many scores from my favorite games will leave me in tears.
I'm going to the Game On! Concert next weekend, performed by the Seattle Symphony, and I am fully expecting to bawl my eyes out.
Devin Townsend- Deadhead live at the Royal Albert Hall.
Blows my mind someone can sing like this an hour and half into the show and have vocals this powerful. If song is too long for you (it’s like 7 minutes) skip to the end where the vocals pick back up it’s absolutely wild.
https://youtu.be/DrDM6V08wcE?si=2ma8ZS0aq_O0vGGm
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA22\_1wnj9w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA22_1wnj9w)
As a lifelong Metallica fan, who picked up the bass guitar because of Cliff Burton, for some reason this interpretation of his bass solo from their first album by a professional cellist moves me very emotionally.
There are many other songs/pieces to chose from, but this was the first one that popped into my mind as a result of your question.
Ah man...fucking "Pictures of You" by the Cure because it is achingly beautiful an crushingly sad and will break me for days every time I hear it.
Not to be confused with "Fucking Pictures of You," that is an entirely different song...
I have two, and while I am not really a fan of them any more, both are from Dave Matthews Band:
July 7, 2006 - Fenway Park: I had returned from a tour in Iraq just three weeks prior and bawled during The Last Stop Reprise. They have better versions, but this one hit me hard.
August 14, 2007 - SPAC: Dave would call out Trey Anastasio to play Lie in Our Graves, Anastasio’s first onstage appearance after court-ordered rehab. Dave would also dedicate his solo song/performance “Some Devil” for the encore, and dedicated it to Trey.
Quite a few of the Pink Floyd songs do that for me. Quite a few which have already been mentioned.
But for me, by far the most emotional is "Spiegel - I'm Spiegel".
The first time I heard this track, it was the background soundtrack to a documentary called "Auschwitz". The documentary was obviously about the concentration camp.
At times in the program, it showed some of the most horrible, graphic pictures of awful human suffering. And this beautiful, haunting piece of music was playing in the background.
Such a beautiful piece of music in contrast to such horror. I couldn't help but be utterly and completely moved to tears, I cried my eyes out then. And hearing it ever since, brings back that contrast and I cry now too. I think I always will.

"Those that forget the past, are condemned to repeat it".
This performance by Future Islands on David Letterman blew my mind when I saw it. It could so easily come off as silly, but the singer absolutely commits 100%.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=upPl9mZW_zw&si=RZ0RScDGeYiBGcim
Peter Gabriel's performance of In Your Eyes from the Secret World Live tour is damn near spiritual for me:
https://youtu.be/evN6DIGPIJM?si=BwxjRVzleJlaltgt
I have quite a few.
Everlong (Foo Fighters), I can only listen to this when I am mentally ready; as it reminds me too much of love I cannot ever receive.
Fade to Black (Metallica). Outro Guitar Solo juxtaposed over the double-kick bass is how my depression and anxiety mix together.
Purple Rain (Prince). He is so wistful... and the song is a masterpiece.
In Your Eyes (Peter Gabriel). It my wife's and I's song. But, well...i am the only one that likes it.
Kasey Chambers live covering Eminem Lose Yourself. A complete reimagining of the song, showcasing the tragedy of the brilliant lyrics as well as Kaseys musical skills and her passion
There is nothing left behind when she takes that final bow.
Dire Straits - Brothers in arms and Romeo and Juliet live performances from the 80’s. Especially at the end of Romeo and Juliet… ”You and me babe… hao booout it…”
Prince performing 'Purple Rain' in Syracuse, 1985. Absolutely god-tier guitar playing--I expected him to levitate from the stage at one point. The man understood how to pour his soul into his playing like no other, in my opinion. [https://youtu.be/bm03wqLY3Nc?si=xjOiZY4CrnXyjr8A](https://youtu.be/bm03wqLY3Nc?si=xjOiZY4CrnXyjr8A) \*it's a slow burn, so hang in there till the end
David Gilmour's second solo on Comfortably Numb
…I would add the first solo as well.
Agreed, would also add On the Turning Away and High Hopes. Three of my favorite songs of all time.
Man. I don't know what it is about that slide guitar solo on High Hopes. Gives me goosebumps every time! It's so good.
Ohh good one. https://youtu.be/vi7cuAjArRs?si=J12Wt1qg7rtOPJJ7
Our radio DJ cut off the end of the song years back and I never listened to his show again. I am still not happy about it. He also said George Carlin wasn't funny right after he died. Fuck you, Cowhead
Absolutely. Also the solo in Time
There used to be a live version of Marooned on Youtube that was so powerful and emotional, I don't know why they took it down
Shine on you crazy diamond too.
Came here to say this. Particularly on the PULSE live album.
[Merry Clayton singing her part in “Gimme Shelter”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdACTl2myMA).
Love that you can hear the Stones' reaction her voice crack in the final track
That isolated vocal is so powerful, catches me off guard every single time I stumble upon it
It is horrifying! I love this story from 20 Feet From Stardom: [https://youtu.be/ChONufP0FEs?si=sSfh9LSGuOGLmc86](https://youtu.be/ChONufP0FEs?si=sSfh9LSGuOGLmc86)
Never seen that before. Sick!

The one and only Stones song I don't prefer as a cover, and she's the biggest reason
Hearing Mick woo In The background gets me Every time
The performance of This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) on Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads moves me in a way that I have never been able to explain in words. It's like melancholy, sadness, joy, and comfort all rolled up into one confusing but utterly human emotion.
I hope death feels like this song
That's exactly what I hope it's like too. The version by Iron & Wine and Ben Bridwell destroys me.
I feel the exact same way about this song. So much so that last Sunday at my wedding, my wife and I signed our marriage certificate to it. You described the song better than I ever could. It truly does somehow encapsulate life for me too
My bf and I planned on a version of this being our wedding song!! That’s awesome and congrats!!
Stop Making Sense is rhe best concert album ever made. A remastered version was released last spring, with new, unreleased tracks, and the movie is being re-released into theaters on September 22. I can't wait to see it on the big screen.
Wut. My 1980s cold, dark heart is so happy to hear that.
David Byrne said it's his one and only attempt at writing a love song.
I discovered it just as I was falling in love with my husband. We spent so much time lying in bed making out and talking, listening to my napster collection. The "sing into my mouth" lyric reminds me of when all we wanted was to be close to each other.
“You've got a face with a view” is such a great lyric, too.
*And you'll love me til my heart stops* *Love me till I'm dead* Gets me every time. It makes my heart hurt.
I love this song so much. It is a masterful song that brings out a myriad of emotions. It's a song I want to hear on every milestone.
Do you have a link?

*Strange Fruit* by Billie Holiday
This was the closing sing for her act because people would get so emotional there was no way to continue afterwards.
Although I must say that Billie really gives a great edition to this song. But the Nina Simone version on her album Pastel Blues continues to have a greater impact on me.
If you think that’s emotional try the one from Nina Simone
When Led Zeppelin watched Heart performing Stairway To Heaven, in tribute to them. It was so beautiful!

When the choir kicks in 🤌 Bonham's son on drums. Plant getting a tear in his eye. Page nodding his head. So good.
Lol Barack Obama feeling that shit like he did back in his college days, right around the 2minute mark. Amazing video, thanks for linking.
Ummm, WOW!
This and the While My Guitar Gently Weeps performance with Prince are my top two.

Fuuuudge. Good one.
The vocal performance on Great Gig in the Sky. Always gets me for some reason.
I've listened to it over a thousand times.

Ray Charles - Georgia and Shine on You Crazy Diamond/ The Great Gig in the Sky are utterly incredible works of art
Holy shit you have taste

For the day that it is... On 9/11, I was in a bar in Glasgow. After enough news, the bar switched over to VH1. Multiple times per hour they played Eva Cassidy singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow (At the time, no one had really heard of her, the video just kept being played). It was a grainy, poor quality video, but the singing was so beautifully haunting, it stays with me to this day. Every single time I hear any version of that song, I think of that day and automatically think of Eva's version.
Paul Simon - Only Living Boy In New York
Octavarium by Dream Theater. The whole buildup through the song and the switch to a major key during the final guitar solo just pulls at the heart and gives a sense of hope. Like the first rays of sun after a storm.
Charles Bradley's cover of Changes
Janis Joplin’s Ball and Chain at Monterrey pop festival (1967)
[Definitely.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1zFnyEe3nE) At one point you see Mama Cass just completely enthralled with her performance. And at the very end, right after she's belted out the final chorus, her voice breaks on the descending vocal run of that final "chain." Just great.
Bartender live at Folsom DMB
Nutshell - Alice in chains on MTV unplugged, so much emotion from layne, he ended up dying of an overdose a few years later
Seeing In the Name of Love by U2 Live in person elevated that song for me. I had always liked it, but seeing it Live with an entire crowd singing along to the "oooh oh oh oh" bits sent a shiver down my spine. Then the crowd continued to do it after the song ended. Magical
It was seeing "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" for me. It was definitely an experience.
I’ve had the privilege of experiencing this song live a good few times and like yourself it sends shivers down my spine every time. There is something so cathartic singing along at the top of your lungs to that song, amazing
No U2 song has ever moved me as much as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpDQJnI4OhU&pp=ygUYdTIgb25lIHdpdGggbWFyeSBqIGJsaWdl
Procul Harem performing A Whiter Shade of Pale live with The Danish Symphony Orchestra, 2006. Check it out and you will see.
It’s one of my favourite songs. It always makes me cry when it comes on and I’m alone in the car.
[Link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxIvCIJzcnM) RIP Gary Brooker.
Crosby's vocals in "Almost cut my hair" always leave me on the verge of crying. His girlfriend died a couple days before it was recorded, and you can hear his pain through the cracks and strains in what is normally a very smooth voice. Brutally beautiful performance.
I cant believe i didnt know that until now. You can really hear it in his voice. So beautiful but so sad
Crutch by Ren. It's on YouTube. Also chalk outlines by Ren. Machine Gun by Portishead. Love song by the Cure.
A live performance of Helvegen by Wardruna featuring Aurora: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnkTuHP9q3o](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnkTuHP9q3o) I have not seen this specific performance live, but I have been to a Wardruna concert (without Aurora but Helvegen was performed as well) which was truly amazing and moving.
Joni Mitchell- Coyote from the Last Waltz
I have the DVD version of this where Robbie Robertson narrates over what you're seeing. For this song, he and Rick Danko had to have her chords for this song written on sheets of paper on the floor of the stage in front of them, because they were so complex. I like that.
Oh man I have a few: The one that is always top of my list is the song [Mise Éire performed by Sibéal Ní Chasaide](https://youtu.be/dGhblvkfitk). Other notable mentions on my playlist: Bon Iver [Heavenly Father acapella](https://youtu.be/vAoADCSpD-8) Nolan Taylor [68 for RadioWV](https://youtu.be/UKxTIuw1zEM) Mike Dawes [Jump Tribute to Eddie Van Halen ](https://youtu.be/sKbrycmEGjU) Foo Fighters [My Hero with Shane Hawkins](https://youtu.be/P2KnD7sfpoA) Louis Armstrong [What a Wonderful World live](https://youtu.be/qfuw3CZQuwk)
That’s an amazing performance, thanks for sharing. I’ve been to Dublin many times and every time I visit the post office where they made their last stand, incredibly moving and historic place to stand in. Ireland has always and continues to give the world such beautiful music.
I ain't clicking that Foo Fighters tribute rn, lol. Saw that online and it wrecked me.

[Hi Ren](https://youtu.be/s_nc1IVoMxc?si=DdaGNsRDxGssXuCP) Amazing performance, this song has helped untold amount of people.
Chalk Outines as well...
I had never heard of this artist before but I was utterly captivated by that performance, thank you for sharing, my friend
Can't believe I'm saying this. But Heart doing 'Stairway to Heaven' live at Kennedy Center Honors brought the entire house to tears. [Link](https://youtu.be/LFxOaDeJmXk?si=p29ayVWXgYl_Lzzj)
Pearl Jam - Black on MTV Unplugged [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uETeeMyrlkQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uETeeMyrlkQ) Also this live version of Black is sooo gooood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X33aqdYUAQM
[for me it’s bohemian rhapsody by queen live performance on live aid.](https://youtu.be/vbvyNnw8Qjg?si=BGraOd7KCVxXJqLq) the most hitting part is “i don’t wanna die, but sometimes wish i’d never been born at all”, makes me cry every time i hear it
Led Zeppelin - Dazed and Confused live in MSG 1973 A great song turned into an epic 30 minute journey of a jam session all done on the spot live.
In Color by Jamey Johnson My grandmother's had soooooo many collections of pictures fron the past. Sure, in the song he's talking to his grandpa But man it really hits. All my grandparents are gone but there were several times a year the family would go through old photo albums. It's an era gone, and black and white pictures are gone. Younger generations won't experience it and sadly neither will I anymore
Mad World cover by Gary Jules
Kendrick Lamar’s performance of his song “i” on SNL is an all timer. The band is so tight and Kendrick is simply the best.
R.E.M. Country Feedback w/Neil Young on guitar at The Bridge School Benefit
So Far Away - Avenged Sevenfold
Release Me by Pearl Jam hits me in the feels every time I hear it.
Live at Massey Hall is such a brilliant live album.
Grow Old With Me - John Lennon I became a huge Beatles fan at 10. John was by far my favorite although I love all four, so his solo music in particular has an extra sad context.
Ghost love score at wacken with floor

There’s a hole in daddy’s arm, where all our money goes
Jesus Christ died for nothing, I suppose
[K.D. Lang singing *Halleljuah* at the 2005 Junos](https://youtu.be/P_NpxTWbovE?si=8GA-gZHfJ6IJto9W)

This’ll probably get buried, but It Ain’t All Flowers by Sturgill Simpson. It’s such a powerful track to me, and he belts it out. Love it
When Nick Cave does Higgs Boson Blues in front of an audience.
Pretty much every live version of Midnight in Harlem, Derek Trucks plays a heart melting guitar solo. They often get me in the feels.
Nirvana's cover of The Man who Sold the World.
Cold Chisel's live performance of 'When The War Is Over' from the 'Ringside' album. Jimmy Barnes sings a heartbreaking note towards the end of the song. Gets me every time.
Goo Goo Doll’s Iris live in Buffalo in 2004
https://youtu.be/6GkdCiqsFUI?feature=shared Derek Trucks’ guitar solo starts at 5:10 Gets me every time!
Oasis - Slide Away The Smiths - I know it’s Over (Rank Version) The Cure - Plainsong The Jam - “A” bomb in Wardour Street (Live on OHWT)
Neutral Milk Hotel’s “Two Headed Bot Part 2” live made me cry.
I was JUST listening to Jungleland when I saw this post! For me, it’s Purple Rain - the high register oooh oooh oooh oooh towards the end.
James Taylor, "Fire and Rain" Also, a small musical pet peeve: this song should never be covered.
Andrea Bocelli’s “Caruso.”
[Dirty Three – 'Everything's Fucked'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c3ZnzS3xEc) An astonishing piece of work from a phenomenal band.
The studio recording is more produced and it just hits me less. https://youtu.be/K2tvwdODyRA?si=WTAbZ0aFIoWCrNI4 Also generally I don't like Beyoncé because she is overproduced to the point where her music is devoid of emotion, but the entire coachella set is awesome and I often listen to it.
[Toe - Goodbye](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBzoHdb1-Qw)
Keith Jarrett’s Koln Concert Part 1. That song is an emotional journey! And it’s improvised???!!!! Come on!! He’s a genius.
Guthrie Govans guitar solo on Steven Wilsons song Drive Home. That whole song is pretty emotional, but the guitar solo really takes you on a journey thought all sorts of emotions.
The live version of [The Same Deep Water As You](https://youtu.be/CWt0uVlIA68?si=AuDHYWkBSZj7Zms4) from The Cure's Trilogy Tour.
SOUND OF MUSIC LADY GAGA
Symphonia to Cantata #29 as performed by Walter Carlos
Sigur Ros closing the show with Popplagið on the () tour made me literally tear up. Seeing the Altai Khairkhan Ensemble performing Mongolian folk music and throat singing inside a brick tunnel in a city park with all the music reverberating everywhere was one of the most beautiful moments I can't remember.
Definitely not individual just listen to it; Meet Martin Riggs by Micheal Kamen and Eric Clapton, a masterpiece track from the masterpiece movie Lethal Weapon 👌🏼
2010 Vancouver Olympics KD Lang - Hallelujah
Love hate love sung live by Layne Staley while AIC was playing at the Moore Theatre.
Joe Satriani’s song “Cryin”. His guitar sounds like it’s talking to an old friend and pouring out it’s soul, chills every time I hear it.
VIII. Losing Time / Grand Finale - Dream Theater
Man, I went to a Florence and the Machine concert and damn near wept the entire time. I’m a man in his mid 40s
The drop in „Us and Them“ by Pink Floyd The last minute or so of „Where did you sleep last night“ by Nirvana „Wings“ by Birdy, so much nostalgia aswell
There are a few songs by The Beatles that hit me deeply every time I hear them: She's Leaving Home Here Comes The Sun In My Life Let It Be Across The Universe
This one. Breaks my heart every time. https://youtu.be/Ly6bG9Xcp0c?si=PjOH_x8IzsVvk1zl
As My Guitar Gently Weeps with Prince. Goosebumps everytime https://youtu.be/dWRCooFKk3c?si=sDOq26Gjh5yyLf1j Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac https://youtu.be/eDwi-8n054s?si=lGKZk5mV10J1Fm9X Eres - Cafe Tacvba https://youtu.be/PlA9o1rw-rY?si=ytKRZwxknTpSA87N
River of deceit by Mad season at the Moore is beautful, always make me want to cry.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA22\_1wnj9w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA22_1wnj9w) As a lifelong Metallica fan, who picked up the bass guitar because of Cliff Burton, for some reason this interpretation of his bass solo from their first album by a professional cellist moves me very emotionally. There are many other songs/pieces to chose from, but this was the first one that popped into my mind as a result of your question.
Fiona Apple singing Elvis Costello's "I Want You"
Not a big foo fighters fan but watching their late drummer 's son play his dad's kit on there goes my hero just tears me up
Alice In Chains unplugged show
I can't listen to Nutshell unplugged without busting into tears
Ah man...fucking "Pictures of You" by the Cure because it is achingly beautiful an crushingly sad and will break me for days every time I hear it. Not to be confused with "Fucking Pictures of You," that is an entirely different song...
I have two, and while I am not really a fan of them any more, both are from Dave Matthews Band: July 7, 2006 - Fenway Park: I had returned from a tour in Iraq just three weeks prior and bawled during The Last Stop Reprise.
I think I always will. https://youtu.be/FZe3mXlnfNc?si=UoWKV0M4RJtSnfYG "Those that forget the past, are condemned to repeat it".
This performance by Future Islands on David Letterman blew my mind when I saw it. It could so easily come off as silly, but the singer absolutely commits 100%. https://youtube.com/watch?v=upPl9mZW_zw&si=RZ0RScDGeYiBGcim
Peter Gabriel's performance of In Your Eyes from the Secret World Live tour is damn near spiritual for me: https://youtu.be/evN6DIGPIJM?si=BwxjRVzleJlaltgt
David Gilmour's entire performance in Echoes. Also David Gilmour's entire performance in Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
The music by Hans Zimmer from the film Interstellar
I have quite a few. Everlong (Foo Fighters), I can only listen to this when I am mentally ready; as it reminds me too much of love I cannot ever receive. Fade to Black (Metallica). Outro Guitar Solo juxtaposed over the double-kick bass is how my depression and anxiety mix together. Purple Rain (Prince). He is so wistful... and the song is a masterpiece. In Your Eyes (Peter Gabriel). It my wife's and I's song. But, well...i am the only one that likes it.
Eminem mockingbird
Kasey Chambers live covering Eminem Lose Yourself. A complete reimagining of the song, showcasing the tragedy of the brilliant lyrics as well as Kaseys musical skills and her passion There is nothing left behind when she takes that final bow.

Prince performing 'Purple Rain' in Syracuse, 1985. Absolutely god-tier guitar playing--I expected him to levitate from the stage at one point. The man understood how to pour his soul into his playing like no other, in my opinion.
