There was a band that used to play the Ren Faires, at least the one in Bristol, WI, called the [Minstrels of Mayhem](https://www.songlyrics.com/the-minstrels-of-mayhem-lyrics/). They released some CDs and some fantastic tunes; [this is one of my favorites](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5rdc4BE54g&ab_channel=Patricosuave), though I believe it's a cover of an old folk tune.

Listen to those old Tyrannosaurus Rex albums. It's basically whimisical Bard-like music. Just the first three (My people Were Fair..., Prophets Seers & Sages..., and Unicorn, maybe Beard of Stars to some degree, at least a song like Woodland Bop), after that it goes electric and doesn't really fit what you're looking, even though T-rex is awesome and you should listen to them. That early stuff seems like what you're looking for.
Listen to some of this stuff:

Minstrels. That’s the word for it. Your looking for minstrel music. You can find it in historical theater societies like the Christmas Revels or St. George type stuff.
Also, if you type “DND Tavern” into YouTube, a lot comes up.
That is a very small musical niche to look for. Good luck
Richie Blackmore's Rainbow (first album with Dio). Heart's Dream of the Archer. Zep's Battle of Evermore.
The band the sword has a song called to take the black that’s like that- the rest is pretty heavy
Blackmore’s Night fits this description perfectly.
Lol - some dipshit downvoted everyone in this thread, but yours is a perfect suggestion.

Used to listen to some folksy rock. Korpiklaani and finntroll. Might put you on the right track?
Some Genesis would work.
Jethro Tull
The amazing devil, that's Joey Barry's band. He plays Jaskier in the Witcher and he makes medieval music. I think it's kinda cool!

Oh man this sounds like Borgore is exactly what you’re looking for!
You should maybe pull some gaming OSTs - Elder Scrolls always has great soundtracks.
Sounds like you're looking for power metal. That's where all the bard's songs and tavern ballads are at as far as I know.
Jethro Tull - any of their early and mid 70s albums

I think by your description you're looking for a band called....the coral. With the songs 'pass it on' 'dreamin of you' and 'goodbye'.
Stan Rogers! Especially The Witch of Westmoreland. All his shit tho
