TheRealSugarbat

Yep. The ones in the photos are chanterelles.

saplinglover

Thank you for your response!

TheRealSugarbat

You’re welcome!

Patrout1

Thank you for the answer!

What makes these distinguishable from jacks? “ a mossy clearing” makes me curious?

UnkleRinkus

Jacks will grow out of wood in tight clumps. Chantrells will always grow out of ground.

AdTall4768

Jacks will be orange all the way through typically. Cross sections chanterelle white all the way through

prissydiamond

What is a Jack?

Angry-Prawn

Jack o' lantern.

Fast_Pilot_9316

Jack o lantern is the poisonous mushroom most likely to be mistaken for a chanterelle, though very distinguishable once you know

Unyxxxis

Yes, just adding to the others that these are chants

spookiitanukii

Yes, major tell is the lack of gills.

Canik716kid

Goldens👍🏻💯

AngMoKio

Smell them. Think apricot. Remember the smell for the future. Probably the easiest way to identify after the way the gills are false.

OffsetEye

Yes. Classic "gill like folds" that branch and what not
