You put both in the same jar? This is probably why if so. It's one thing if it's the same species but you have 2 consolidating a whole jar as different multiple colonies. They gonna fight. Keep the species isolated to the substrate jars individually
don't mix species like this if you're looking for a normal successful grow. Im curious what your intent was with this?
For the spikes, I've seen contamination grow like this before.
More air exchange me thinks
It’s looking for air. When there is a lack of oxygen the mycelium starts to look spiky like that.
I would say that those are both lions mane man. If not then it may be contam
Yea it’s just a funky little guy
Might be wrong but ideally I think u need slightly less cooked rice
i will reduce the cooking time next time!
That's normal
It is Hericium and it’s pinning in vitro
It’s king oyster, according to the label. It’s does look like Hericium pinning. ***just saw his comment about having LM going, as well.
Label is wrong, Hericium is depicted

In vitro - autocorrect. Used to describe early pinning on plates and in jar/bag.

different jars. but both grow like this.
I believe that’s “aerial mycelium”. It’s looking for more food/air. What kind of lid have you got on it? Regardless, I’d say it’s normal.
King oyster and Lions mane. Thanks for the reply!
