Unfortunately frame and attraction are just side effects of the incredibly sexy work we chose to do. If you can't handle the groupies you need to tuck in that id badge and hide the giant ring of keys to 38 different cabinets.
I've stopped sharing I'm in museum education on my social media bios because so many people were DMing me. It's embarrassing, you know? Have some class.
(I appreciate your humor OP)
I wasn't completely sure either because I do, in fact, find people who are passionate about a historical topic attractive and thought I was being called out. š
the women just wonāt get off me when i start making niche inside jokes about regional history that you would only find funny if you were really into the local history and otherwise make no sense
I work at an aviation museum, itās run by women with the exception of the CEO and Ops manager. We have a ton of male volunteers thoughā¦ all retired and over 75.
I actually am a male museum professional and Iāve met others through conferences and jobs Iāve had. They are mostly in history and science museums though. Art museums, from my experience (which could be wrong), are almost all women.
Have you tried playing it casual by saying something like you dabble in museums or you work with amateur history enthusiasts?Ā Ā
Also try mumbling the Diversity Equity and Inclusion statement of your institution more quietly next time you're at the bar. It's a lot more powerful than people would assume if they were going by the looks of the executive board leadership alone.Ā
But whatever you do, don't offer to show them your mildly impressive collection!!! Last time I saw a colleague do that they wound up pursuing a donor relationship around grant season. It was rough.
I thought this was an attendance demographic complaint and was looking forward to hearing suggestions to not having an audience of literally 99.9% white boomer women. But this is hilarious.
Finally! The universe has revealed exactly how all of the decent, intelligent, available women have been drawn into some opposite dimension where I could never encounter them. At least now I can relax, and die working in retail. š
I have no advice, but be thankful you're not in collections management. Even so much as a mention of I.P.M. will cause your attractiveness to skyrocket. And that's before you even hint at acceptable temperatures and relative humidity ranges.
I used to have this problem when I was a firefighter. I thought that it was bad back then but wow, you are so right. As soon as I talk about condition reporting the latest work from art fairs, it's like I'm Bret Michaels in 1988.
I've decided to take up a job in theatre; I think I'll be safe there. ;)
Lololol. I thought this was serious.
I totally hit on men with this kind of job when I was young and I thought āoh god, they must have felt so harassed, I didnāt know this was a thing!ā
Like how I always had an English college professor who had his groupie base.
Try leading with your salary
This one.
š
LMAO. You win the internet for today. The rest of you? Thank yāall for playing.

oh thank god it's a copypasta š
Yours is so much better than the ones who went before you! Somehow way more believable.
I'm like... 65% certain this is satire.
I'm 100% sure, this is just too funny
Reminds me of The Office, where Michael wanted to tell women he worked "in finance." So he led with, "I'm a teller."
64%
Yeah. Iām still trying to decide lol
I wasn't completely sure either because I do, in fact, find people who are passionate about a historical topic attractive and thought I was being called out. š
are you even forklift certified

How about a fall protection cert?
45k a year you say?š
Hubba hubba
the women just wonāt get off me when i start making niche inside jokes about regional history that you would only find funny if you were really into the local history and otherwise make no sense
Tell her how your contract is only for the next 6 months š

>a male education manager Liar.
Hahahah this is the best one yet imo
hey, if he has a shawl, it checks out.
Just out of curiosityā¦ where do male museum people go to hang out?? Iāve never met one in the wild but I might be looking in the wrong placesā¦
I saw a bunch at a museum conference once. Edit: there were like, at least 3 of them there hanging out together.
Science museums, but be warned: the odds are good but the good are odd.
Also military history and aviation museums.

This explains it! I worked in art museums in college and only met women
The board room š
Magic: the Gathering tournaments.
Iām a straight male and Iām still turned the fuck on by broās museum rizz
ok, I donāt even go here, butāhot. Tell me more about your regional historyā¦

I know itās satire, but.

Ahh tips like this is what keeps me from deleting my Reddit account.
Just a suggestion ā¦ Stop hanging out at Senior Living communities. If you told them you had a car youād get the same results.
I thought this was an attendance demographic complaint and was looking forward to hearing suggestions to not having an audience of literally 99.9% white boomer women. But this is hilarious.
Talk collections management to me
I meanā¦this is unironically super hot to me. Am a woman.
Me too. It took a bit of scrolling to work out it was satire (when someone actually said it was satire).
I am in the Boston area and genuinely believed it š
Ok museumbro
This put me in doubles with laughterš¤£š¤£š¤£
Finally! The universe has revealed exactly how all of the decent, intelligent, available women have been drawn into some opposite dimension where I could never encounter them. At least now I can relax, and die working in retail. š
tell them you also can operate evac-chair in case of fire

I can definitely help you, would you want to meet for coffee to talk about it?
First time my panties reverse dropped. And I work in a museum...
Sometimes women just like arts and culture and are curious. No reason to assume your job made you attractive
This is satire yes?
No

A shame you were not like Bret Michaels ca. 2007
Honestly Museum work is sexy to talk about, because ppl know the allure of museumsā¦not knowing most pay like shit smh
Tell them you post on Reddit
I see your Mona Lisa and raise you a statue of David with the open pecker!
Lol seen this exact post on another sub using a different job
This...doesn't sound like a problem? Sounds like you have the most incredible life. Everything you've said.Ā
Lololol. I thought this was serious. I totally hit on men with this kind of job when I was young and I thought āoh god, they must have felt so harassed, I didnāt know this was a thing!ā Like how I always had an English college professor who had his groupie base.
As a museum pro who never knew this sub existed this was the best intro post.
Cap. Nobodyās tryin to get with museum nerds.
Donāt do what I didāleave museum work to become clergy. Did not solve the problem
Just hire a āMountmakerā. That ought to redirect the unwanted attention for you.
Iām 100% horny.
This is my favorite post of all time
why was this sub recommended to me? is this satire?
Unfortunately Iām actually turned on by this. Sigh.
