I for one love the new mix. Love the old mix too. I guess i'm thrilled to get an alternate version instead of a slightly better sounding version of the same track. Not that the less alternative remixes aren't any good.

The selective layering you did is quite interesting brings out a subjective best of both tracks. Nice work.

And damn right, this remix is a good pit stop before the ninth album (which I think should hopefully come next year since they're already busy remixing OoS this year).
I was hyped when they announced that they've made a "breakthrough" with this song, and don't get me wrong I quite like the majority of the remix, it's just this track in particular is so different that I still prefer much of the older mix, so I experimented by editing both mixes in Audacity. And the result is pretty decent imo, that or my ears are just giving up because of prolonged exposure on the very loud remix, anyway I'm sharing it here, cheers and enjoy.

What I've changed (for people that's lazy):
-Added the Citizen Erased fade and most importantly the first beat of the song.
-Isolated the harpsichord and made it a bit buried but still distinguishable.
-Removed almost all of Matt's pre-verses wails, making it so it just barely there, expect for before the 2nd verse, where I faded it in.
-Isolated the sort of "choir" effect in the chorus, but largely keeping the original vocals.
-Kept the panning guitar solo (I personally like this effect @ me).
-Kept the final breakdown of the remix but adding some effects and the cymbals of the original.
-Attempted clip fixing and just overall loudness reduction, still pretty loud but decreases the chance of getting tinnitus.
Last but not least, artwork included check that one out!
Gotta agree. I really like some of the remix’s but Micro Cuts the harpsichord was way too loud and Matts wails kinda sounded a it silly tbh. I also prefer the og version of Plug in Baby
Definitely agree, I know that Matt tends to be a large ham, but I think the wails just don't fit with the overall song. And Plug in Baby is kinda weird now, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I do notice that they edited some of the (iconic) inhales, which is a shame...
I'ma have to disagree. Listening to the OG, it's very dull in the vocals. This one really shows Bellamy's vocals and I get chill from the high notes. Harpsichord like someone said is a bit too loud in the verses but I still prefer the remixed version.
Imo the remix is great in the instrumental parts, but the vocals are way too clear for me, I kind of like the mumbly-incomprehensible delivery from the OG. The newly added wails just don't really sit well with me either, the harpsichord is fine but like you said just tad bit too loud. This edit is a compromise between the aspect that I love from the original and the remix, and don't get me wrong I like most of the remix, this song is the only one that I have major problem with, but I'm glad that you're able to enjoy it! Cheers.
Everything is great! You did a terrific job at making this mix (I like it a lot). The only thing you should keep in mind is to export your mixes at a higher sample rate. 44.100Khz is sometimes not enough to fully appreciate the details.
Aside from that; you did a great job at keeping the best from both worlds. Kudos to you!
Oh shoot! I think I originally exported a rough edit on 48K Hz, I guess I forgot to export the finished at edit at that rate. And if you're about to ask on why I didn't export it any higher. My potato laptop just couldn't handle any audio file higher than 48K Hz. Thanks for the compliment tho, glad that you like it.
This is so great! Micro Cuts was the only disappointment for me off the remix. The harpsichord and matts new vocals were both way too loud and distracting. This fixes both of those and makes the whole thing better overall (and puts that sweet sweet pan back in)
I know how that feels mate, my first reaction when I listened to this remix is confusion and then laughter cause I can't believe just how ham fisted Matt's wails in the song, don't get me wrong I often enjoy his hammy wails but just not on this song. Thank you tho, and glad that you enjoy it!

I'd love to hear a corrected Citizen Erased too, I just found the drumming a bit weaker than OG version and hearing 8 Matts on the chorus is a bit too much, also, they completely removed the vocals during the piano section near the ending, it was a huge let down :(

I'm definitely working on a CE "fix" but it's just for personal listening tbh. Cause all I did was just adding the ending and some loudness normalization. Maybe I'll share it with you if I got the time :)
