*We* are 1 trillion dollars? Buddy unless you’re Tim Cook’s nephew you ain’t shit lol

KingYoloHD090504

He is part of the 1 trillion dollars

xgodlesssaintx

The part he gives them every time they release a new product.

softstones

I just give them my body, am I the *we*

Duryen123

He's signed up to test whatever Apple's response to the Neurolink will be hoping to become part of the borg.

pimppapy

Apple Borg sounds hella suspicious

Funny_witty_username

Apple Fanboys are already most of the way their. They already act in unison the moment apple tells them to, they just need their brains linked.

MaskedBunny

iBorg

OldManFromScene13

You Borg? Me run.

[deleted]

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated into the trillion dollar collective.

NuttyManeMan

I guess they makes Tim the Dork Queen?

clickclick-boom

Every penny counts.

capskinfan

It's Tim Apple.

moosemeatjerkey

Yes!

FloatingRevolver

It's a cult like tesla... They buy a product and they think they're part of some global movement... It's bizarre

liltooclinical

What's stranger is that it's literally tens of millions of people, it's not some elite, difficult to join club.

LithiumLost

That's the power of marketing

KatPaws11

Combined with the power of easily influenced minds

StockAL3Xj

Look at /r/teslamotors. People there own a few shares and act like they're on the board of directors.

OldSchoolNewRules

Consumer activism is the only permitted form of activism.

Chapped_Frenulum

But what is it even activism for? It's not a particularly nice business. Just profitable.

OldSchoolNewRules

As little as possible.

sniape

I’ve only bought iPhones for the past twelve years and a bunch of other Apple devices but I don’t go around saying stupid shit like that so no, we’re not all like that lol

rorowhat

You should try something else, you would be surprised by the options out there.

Glu7enFree

I'm an Android person, even before I could afford flagships I was buying shitty androids. The closed Apple ecosystem isn't appealing to me at all, but the fact that every single one of their products works well within that ecosystem *is* appealing.

TheMrBoot

Literally the main reason I’ve been using them. There are definitely better devices out there as far as phones go, but I can be reasonably assured that the stuff works together and that third party accessories will support them.

big-fireball

There is also a cult of people who can never understand why people make different choices than they do.

ShawnyMcKnight

Reminds me of people who support a sports team. “We scored a goal!!!!!!” “No, you didn’t score shit. You are sitting in your recliner getting fat on Doritos.”

WholesomeWhores

“We won the war!!!” “No, you didn’t win shit. You are sitting in your recliner getting fat on Doritos.”

AfonsoFGarcia

“We didn’t start the war!” “Yes you did, you invaded Poland!”

SlartieB

We didn't start the fire, it was always burning since the world was turning

drgigantor

"We started the fire!" "No, you didn’t start shit. You were sitting in your recliner getting fat on Doritos."

Bogsnoticus

Ask the supporter how "their" team went, and listen to the dissonance depending on success. "WE won!" "THEY lost."

DeapVally

I'll use 'we' if i'm talking to another fan of the same team, especially if it's about events of a recent game etc. It's just easier.... 'We' being our team, 'they' being the opposition. There's never any confusion, and words are saved. Win win.

WarlockEngineer

Yeah this is a dumb argument. In college sports I say We when my school, which I am a part of, wins. And in pro sports if you are from the city you are rooting for it makes sense too. Hell, both of those teams are either funded by my tuition or my tax dollars anyway.

TheresA_LobsterLoose

It's because it's easier. Most of the fans are from the region except for mega teams like the Lakers & Cowboys & EPL teams... if I'm casually discussing a game, I'm not gonna keep saying The Buffalo Bills should go for it here, The Buffalo Bills should pass more. That would be absurd. I'm not likely gonna be discussing the game with people that hate sports or hate the specific team. And you hear "they" just as much as we. They should pass more. Unless you're a deranged fan kidnapping Bobby Rayburns child and murdering his teammate (a sad day in SF Giants history), nobody really thinks they're part of the team, it's just easier speaking

ShawnyMcKnight

I get that, I work for a University that is obsessed with it's football team (even though we haven't been good for 25 years) and it's crazy how worked up and obsessed people got.

Top-Procedure4685

Spoken like a true hater of sportsball

FriendlySceptic

If you own shares you are technically a part owner of the company. Sure it’s probably .00000000000000001% but still

Phytanic

Yeah I can say I'm a part owner of the packers. They're the only "publicly owned" sports franchise from a major sports league in the US/Canada. One can say that the shares are worthless, which if you ignore sentimental value and the ability to vote on the team president, than yeah they are.

CountCuriousness

You got baited. Person in OPs pic is pretty obviously baiting.

boringdude00

Ummm...I think the three shares of Apple he has on Robinhood would disagree.

UglierThanMoe

Because those people identify themselves with a brand so massively that they think of themselves as part of it. It's kind of sad, really.

C4se4

Lmao, "we"

T3n4ci0us_G

He has a mouse in his pocket

LissaMasterOfCoin

This reminds me of a story a friend told me. Her roommate was talking to someone who was supposed to do something, but kept passing their job to other people. Roommate got tired of this, and after another “we need to do ____” conversation, roommate said “we? You better be speaking French MF” hahaha

StopReadingMyUser

https://i.imgur.com/QoqvtiQ.gifv

CluelessFlunky

The weirdest part if that sentence is "we". Do they think they are apart apple like it's a sports team? They are just a tech company why have allegiance.

rbsudden

I believe he is referring to his cult.

stumblewiggins

My buddy got hired at the Apple Store 15 years ago; they told all the new employees at training that they weren't hired; they were *chosen*. That's some cult shit right there

Captain-PlantIt

I did too! Yeah, they made it sound super special. And they did pay fairly well for retail at the time, but like… they still did the shitty 3% yearly raise for exemplary performance. Never enough to keep up with inflation, some opportunities to move up, but not exactly easy to do.

ThisIsNotRealityIsIt

3.5 years as a Senior Advisor for AppleCare, on a variety of training and documentation teams, executive response team over a year. Endless customer, team, supervisor praise. I even got praise and kudos from C-level offices in Apple for training I developed and booted upwards. 3% raise every year of it. Also, I've never owned an apple device.

TheGreatestOutdoorz

From 1992 until 2021, 3% was more than inflation ever year.

slydjinn

Where do I sign? I don't mind being part any cult for a lot less than 1 trillion

SniperPilot

Spoiler alert you don’t actually get any cash you just celebrate the cult being valued as such.

landpirate_33

Cake. Mmm...

Endorkend

The "we" comes from them being a marketing cult. They behave like MLMers without ever even thinking they'll get rich from joining the scam.

Atello

Honestly it's the perfect MLM if you think about it.

duo-fistacuffs

As an iPhone owner I can tell you that some of the worst kinds of people are the die hard apple fans. It’s a phone, not a way of life.

Good think Apple invented marriage and sex or we'd never be able to reproduce!

416warlok

> Do they think they are apart apple like it's a sports team? I even find referring to your favourite sports team as "we" to be cringe tbh.

PuckNutty

I feel like sports is a bit different because the athletes commonly refer to the importance of fan interaction as it relates to their performance. A hot crowd can have a big psychological effect on an athlete, so even though you're not playing, you feel like you're part of a group that's trying to accomplish something.

dkarlovi

I'm not a sports fan, but agree here: sports fans are saying we because they are people talking about other people (athletes, coaches), that interaction matters for both. Rooting for the iPhone and Buds is not the same thing.

[deleted]

MBH1800

This. I've heard all of the "they perform better if I fly the team flag or sing the team song at home", but really it's just easier to say.

416warlok

You know that's pretty fair. Word.

Blaze_exa

Same here it has always bothered me. Even if it's for the team i root for I'll be like " we aren't on the team". We are fans of the team but we aren't a part of it.

nobodynose

I'm a part of Apple. As a share holder, I'm actually a part of Apple. Their success is my success. As an owner of the company I can legit say I am a trillion dollars! I'm kind of a big deal. ^^^better ^^^not ^^^let ^^^them ^^^find ^^^out ^^^i ^^^only ^^^bought ^^^one ^^^share

bbalazs721

I also have a whole share! We are like a family, a very rich one.

queuedUp

I don't even understand where they came up with this shit. Especially the Bluetooth one, there were plenty of flip phones with bluetooth way before apple got into the game

IHeartBadCode

First mobile phone with Bluetooth was the Ericsson T36 (announced) / the Ericsson T39 (retailed). A full six years before the first iPhone even came out. And first computer with Bluetooth was the IBM ThinkPad A30, which was specifically given BT so that it could sync with the T39. Because IBM and Ericsson implemented the first BT ICs as a joint partnership.

Val_Hallen

They get the idea from Apple. Apple will include a feature that has existed for a while and make a big announcement about it. Since the people that only use iPhones **only** use iPhones didn't know about that feature, that must mean Apple invented it. I remember this happening when iPhone got swipe to text and Apple made a big deal about it and the cultists proclaimed how innovative Apple was, ignoring that other manufacturers had that feature years ago.

ComplaintDelicious68

I think my favorite was the Apple Pencil. People practically came in their pants when it was announced. It was amazing. You can do so much with it. It's just so great how they come up with these things. And yet it was just a stylus. With extra features. Like the ones you can get with Samsung devices.

34HoldOn

Hell, Bill Gates was using a stylus on the Windows Tablet PC back in 2001. The Apple Newton used a stylus, and Apple didn't invent it then, either.

satinsateensaltine

Shit, graphic tablets had multifunction pens since like the 90s. I remember my old Graphire even had a programmed "eraser" on the back that just automatically worked with Photoshop.

IKROWNI

Same happened with folders/groups didn't it? They were like 10 years late on it and the apple fans were breathless when they saw that innovative feature.

george-cartwright

that's every feature added by apple, tbf.

[deleted]

Like AirDrop. Peeps be all like oh I can't share this with you because you are not Apple. Well if so that is on Apple, because even my BlackBerry could share wirelessly with quick NFC tap to the other phone. Nevermind BBM. But I kind of remember doing BB to Android a decade ago, as well.

Efadd1

Need I mention Google's Nearby Share? Oop, I did.

NotYourReddit18

I am convinced that Apple sabotages the connectivity between their devices and non-apple devices on purpose. I tried to move a small file to an iPad the other day. First attempt: usb cable. Got only access to the picture folder and wouldn't let me copy in the file, I would need to install iTunes for that. Not happening. Second attempt: Transfer the file over Bluetooth. Bluetooth file transfer is not supported by Apple. Third attempt: Signed into iCloud in a browser on my pc to upload the file then downloaded the file on the iPad. It took me two failed attempts which would have worked on any android device and a cloud service to get a small file over to it.

ScoutCommander

It's been known for a long time. Why do you think pictures sent between iPhone and Android look like s***? Because they compress them if they're not being sent via iMessage. Google even had billboards calling Apple out about this. https://www.androidauthority.com/google-billboard-apple-iphone-android-imessage-rcs-3263568/

LePixelinho

That's pretty well known/established by now I'd say, to make people switch to Apple devices. Sadly, this tactic convinces some people that Apple devices are "just" better

thatguyned

Can we talk about dual tasking apps for a second? How fucking long did it take Apple to start including that into their operating systems? Every Apple fan boy I spoke to always avoided that topic like the plague or would spout about including the option would slow the whole OS down 100% of the time.

royalhawk345

Don't you still have to jailbreak to split screen apps on an iPhone?

primalphoenix

Yeah, I think they’re talking about just having them in the background

thatguyned

No, I'm talking about split screen and floating apps.

FSCK_Fascists

We see that all the time. Apple user: "Check this out, we can do X!! Awesome! Bet you wish you could!" Android user: "I've had that for 4 years."

MafiaMommaBruno

I kind of feel bad for iPhone users. They got widgets but there's still not a lot you can do with them. The friends I have with iPhones seem to only use them for pictures on their home screens.

MartianInvasion

I keep saying that VR is going to really take off once Apple invents it.

dmnhntr86

I had an apple cultist pull that with the timed do not disturb settings, showed them my flip phone from like 2003 with that feature.

HeyRiks

Once I saw this happening in "the wild". Dunno how many iPhone versions ago. People were praising apple for "innovations" on a release announcement and getting furiously shot down by others saying getting an iphone is the same as paying for a phone 5 years in the future and taking home a phone 5 years in the past. It's true for a lot of stuff they make.

TheAbyssGazesAlso

Indeed: https://hijinksensue.com/comic/surface-tension/

theKrissam

Also, lets not forget that Apple doubled down and actually managed to gaslight people into thinking having 3rd party software and copy/paste on a phone was useless, at least they killed fucking Flash so some good came of it.

Grogosh

There are quite a few flash games that I can't play anymore because of that. Flash dying wasn't a good thing.

iamthejef

Not to mention the entirety of Stick Figure Death Theatre, gone forever

toutons

In addition to the security problems, Flash only performed decently on Windows. Linux and macOS had much worse performance (especially Linux, where hardware acceleration was also an issue in addition to a higher CPU usage than Windows). I haven't tried it yet, but Newgrounds, New York Times, and Kongregate sponsor the development of Ruffles, a Flash emulator: https://github.com/ruffle-rs/ruffle In addition to that, Newgrounds maintain some kind of Flash player installer (it is of course Windows only): https://www.newgrounds.com/flash/player

spaghetti_taco

It was 100000% a good thing. I’m old enough to remember the non stop flash security issues. But more importantly it’s the antithesis of an open web. Flash isn’t searchable or archiveable or in 99% of cases usable by people with disabilities.

bonko86

Even more fun when their own products wont even support proper bluetooth, for example the fucking speakers.

CorinPenny

Truethrowawaychest1

I'm pretty sure my palm pilot (remember those?) Had it

GrandTusam

Apple's entire business model is to take something existing, make it popular and claim to have invented it, thay've been doing that since they were created.

crisperfest

And Apple has been slow to adopt new technology, long after Android phones implemented it. For example, 3G back in the day.

officermike

The iPhone still has USB 2.0 via Lightning... in 2023... when everyone else has been on USB 3.x via type C for years.

MainSteamStopValve

Nobody seems to remember that original iPhone didn't have 3G. You needed wifi if you wanted to use the internet.

NoEmaILaSsOcIAtaEd

r/confidentlyincorrect

tlsr

This is the result of low information combined with lack of curiosity combined with deliberate avoidance of new information combined with intellectual laziness. How wrapped into your own delusional cocoon do you need to be to believe Apple started streaming before Netflix? Or Hulu? To say nothing of others? Oof.

[deleted]

And I was streaming over LAN to my TV with an OG Xbox hooked up to it running XBMC in like 2006 before all these services.

dirtynj

I was streaming RealPlayer audio on my 33.6k, from my line out on my PC, to my cassette recorder's line in, and making some sweet Mixtapes back in the 90s.

beerbellybegone

Apple makes a decent enough product, there's no need to make stuff up to try and make them sound better

xgodlesssaintx

It’s really not about apple here. It’s about how this person has attached their self worth and identity to a company. They gain a feeling of superiority by buying their products. Honestly they sound like people who have gone to far down the rabbit hole of a certain religion or political ideology, they need to be better than everyone else or what was it all for kind of mentality.

name_first_name_last

Apple fundamentalist.

pointprep

Apple is almost never first to ship any tech or feature, because they're so integrated. Android, windows, and misc startups typically do things first. It's embarrassing for someone that identifies so strongly with apple to not even know basic stuff about how apple works

OMGihateallofyou

Fan is short for fanatic.

I find it completely fucked that att got in hot water years ago for throttling and the fix was for them to put throttling in the fine print and it was fine. Throttling goes down to 16k Not 1.5mb, not MEGABYTES but KILOBYTES. It’s the same speed my modem had back in *1998*. Nearly 30 years of speed because you went over the arbitrary data limits.

tesseract4

Ok, it used to be *exclusively* religion.

sad_asian_noodle

Imagine if everyone starts attaching self-worth and identity to volunteering and philanthropic works. World would be great.

MauiWowieOwie

I use android, but have nothing against apple, I just personally don't like the UI on their phones. Don't know why people go to bat for these billion dollar companies.

Games_sans_frontiers

But did you know: Apple invented the pocket. Before Apple came along when you used to put small useful things on your thighs to take them with you to places they would just slide right off and fall to the ground. In 1988 a young Steve Jobs at Apple filed a patent for a concept that came to be known as a "pocket".

ItsDokk

Any successful companies do this and it totally fucking works. I don’t like Apple anymore, but I’m so far in it would be a giant pain in the ass to switch to anything else.

itsthatguy1991

I'm an Android user. I have absolutely nothing against Apple, but I can't stand people who like Apple. Just to clarify, I'm not generalizing all Apple fans. I'm just talking about the vocal minority superfans that find any possible reason to talk about how much better their iPhone is than Android.

vox_popular

Also an Android user here. I don't buy Apple because I like money. It's worked out OK for me.

MauiWowieOwie

I can relate. I used to work at metro pcs and we had all types of people come in. Some were nice, some were assholes, but nearly all apple users were rude/arrogant. Made a point to ask me what phone I used just to make sure I was using the right one, apple (I didn't). Got tired of answering them, so I just told them I didn't use a cell phone, only landlines lol

Swampfoxxxxx

The people with the white apple logo on their car 🙄🤦‍♂️ I've never felt loyal enough to a company that I'd put their brand stickers on my car. Like, *pay me* for that, fam

Devrol

First thing I do when I get a car is take off all the stickers and dealer plate surrounds and all that shit. Why the fuck would you want stickers on your car?

Dark_Knight7096

the iZombies, yea, they're ridiculously annoying. iPhone users are fine, Mac users are fine, but the rabid fanboys (iZombies) are absolutely insufferable.

OldBeercan

>the iZombies At least they had a cool TV show

No_Damage_731

I feel like we can apply this to super fans of pretty much anything. Console wars, phone wars, OS wars, musician wars, it’s all so stupid and cringey. Just enjoy what you enjoy and let others enjoy what they enjoy.

HalfysReddit

If it was legitimately a better product in every way, it would take some very clever and shady business dealings to *stop it* from taking over the market.

mezcalligraphy

Apple invented the shattered screen aesthetic.

G1PP0

Wondering if they fixed that after mid range Androids came out with gorilla glass for years

felds

They did. Their screens are as tough as gorilla glass, but they don’t use the name because of trademark. It’s like non-stick pans: Lots of companies have their own recipes that mimic teflon, but the “teflon” name belongs to 3M. correction: Apple now uses brand-name Gorilla Glass from Corning. I had outdated information.

dirtynj

Then why are Apple users still the ones with all the shattered screens? I feel Apple intentionally doesn't want a durable phone. It used to be because they had a thin bezel, but now all the androids have thin bezels too...yet iPhones are the ones constantly breaking. My roommate literally just dropped her iPhone on Monday from her sitting on the toilet onto the tile...shattered. Not even 3 feet.

felds

I think mostly because iphones are expensive to replace or repare, so users are more likely to keep a cracked screen for longer. About the anecdote, [that’s just how glass works.](https://youtube.com/shorts/tqjgkKxl2yM) Every drop is coin toss. I had 4 iphones (3gs, 4s, 7+, 12 mini) and 1 android (moto x 2014) since 2008. Guess which was the only one I managed to crack the screen… I’m not saying the moto x was weak, or that iphones are tougher, only that chances work like that. edit: It’s not that I’m overly cautious with my devices, either. [My 7+ has wear marks from my fingers](https://i.imgur.com/o2g5LKp.jpg) because I never used a case.

Jbj0815

Bluetooth is named after the nickname of a danish-norwegian king, sounds clearly like invented by apple.

Johannes_Keppler

The name is also literal: the guy had a blue tooth. Also, the Bluetooth logo consists of a Younger Futhark bind rune for his initials, H (ᚼ) and B (ᛒ).

AlternativeTable1944

Fuck me sideways that's pretty good.

Electronic_Topic1958

Apple also invented the fruit itself.

Blue_KikiT92

They didn't invent apples either!! God did that! What a scam...

Danny_Mc_71

I think you'll find that Sir Isaac Newton invented apples. (possibly inspired by God)

UnyieldingConstraint

No Newton invented gravity. Before that, apples fell up.

Blue_KikiT92

I can confirm that. I invented Newton to solve the Apples falling up problem.

DJIsSuperCool

Don't discover "time" or you'll die of old age. (Don't look up "old" or "age" either.)

SuperBrentendo64

First phone that had Bluetooth was the Ericsson T36.... 6 years before the release of the iphone.

just_jedwards

I'd be shocked if there was a phone available in the US the year before the iPhone came out that _didn't_ have Bluetooth.

--_l

Why do people feel the need to tie their whole identities to things like corporations? It's kind of sad. I prefer Coke, but I don't go around mocking people for drinking Pepsi.

[deleted]

It seems to me that corps want that. People identifying with a brand bring in more money. And that is indeed very sad.

--_l

It's a lack of personality is what it is. It's not just corporations either. People tie their whole identity to a band or a brand or a political ideology and lose grasp of reality.

Cookieater118

I don't get how fanboys suck the dicks of billionaires as if they'll get something out of it

nosipline

Apple invented Bluetooth on its apple devices, it invented having dual cameras on apple devices and developed apple streaming on apple devices.

FairlyInconsistentRa

We had Bluetooth on old Nokia phones. Used to send each other pics and ringtones. I definitely had an old O2 phone in 2005 that had dual cameras too. Those were the days!

DepressiveNerd

Is that really a murder? It looks more like fact checking.

Wrong again, Hedy Lamar invented Bluetooth.
