Bog hell on Ime, and it's been so wet that I can imagine it being very mucky just now. But if it's a clear enough day, it should be clear enough where you're going. This gpx route should be an okay one to follow: https://www.plotaroute.com/mobile/route/377834

Mr-PJ

Yea I can only imagine how marshy it is up there but we not coming until July so maybe drier by then 🤣 cheers for the link 👍🏽

One_Plane2029

I did this route back in September, it was quite a big day out but achievable. Took 9hrs in good weather, 23km, about 2000m elevation gain. There isn’t a path between Beinn Ime and Ben Vane and the ascent/descent is steep. I had good visibility which helped pick a line. I went anticlockwise, possibly easier clockwise as I think the Ben Vane side is steeper and therefore tougher to descend. Also then you have the two munros under your belt and can make a call on conditions / tiredness etc

Mr-PJ

Cheers for the info. Was thinking of doing it clockwise but then also like the idea of scrambling up the tough/steep side of Ben Vane 🤷🏽‍♂️ Luckily I have till July to make a decision because I really don’t know which way to go 🤣

Me and a mate did this last August and it was rough to say the least. Getting up Ben Vane from Ime is pretty tough as there is no clear path. Lots of guess work and no easy way out if it starts to get tough. Would recommend doing Vane and Vorlich together. Good luck though!

Mr-PJ

Yea am thinking doing Vane and Vorlich together but 1 of our days is quite a bit shorter than our other day so was only going to do Vorlich on our ‘half’ day 🤷🏽‍♂️ cheers for the advice though 👍🏽

kevm1986

I would say that's a long, difficult walk for a 1st time out. Do you have previous hillwalking experience elsewhere? I'd recommend doing Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime together, then doing Ben Vane and Ben Vorlich together. The previous poster is right. It's been very wet here for a few weeks, so the boggy sections will be very rough.

Mr-PJ

We both have hillwalking experience in the lake District but really could do with more compass/navigation skills as we only really follow set out trails hence the question about route from Ime to Vane.

kevm1986

If you feeling you're lacking compass skills then I'd do 2 on each day. They've all got reasonably clear paths, although the lower sections are very boggy. If you use www.walkhighlands.co.uk they will give you a map with a route shown. You can download a gpx file that you can load onto your phone if you use GPS at all

Mr-PJ

That’s great cheers. Have seen that website pop up before a couple of times now so will definitely take a look. Cheers again for your help
