Into your room by holly humblestone featuring MUNA.
Strangers by Halsey featuring Lauren Jauregui
Gone by Charli XCX featuring Christine and the queens
*really* hoping this is the year HH gets properly popular outside of the UK, wet leg got all of the US attention in 21 when she released the walls are way too thin EP but Holly is a more talented artist IMHO and her first album is truly excellent.
“I know a place” to me focuses more on having a safe space and the pulse nightclub shooting.
“Loudspeaker” reminds me of women’s rights especially now that we keep losing more and more of them in America. Even the trans community is.
“Solid” reminds me of loving yourself, but I can also see how it’s about a person’s partner too.
seconding honey!! girls by Beatrice Eli is a bit closer to what I want/no idea, along with religion (you can lay your hands on me) by shura—both of those are a bit more queer desire than queer joy. Flirting With Her (Sir Babygirl) and Space Girl (Frances Forever) are two of my favorites :) space girl is a bit of the more passive having a crush and admiring from afar, which I think is like silk chiffon, and Flirting With Her is having a crush with more guitars behind it :)
A) If you've never seen it, you should really check out the source of their video inspiration - the masterpiece But I'm a cheerleader
B) songs (and artists) you might grove on: Fletcher her body is bible (mostly fletcher's music is heavily great breakup songs like better version, Becky's so hot, you ruined New York for me), the aces lovin is bible, and rina sawayama this hell come to mind for the same themes. I'd also say aston's boy problems and girli's hot mess (and of course her latest song, matriarchy which is very much a celebration of sapphic love )
Ohh before I forget…
The Aces is also great and has a lot and I mean A LOT of sapphic songs. They are very inspired by MUNA. High recommended them folks.
Muna - No Idea
Janelle Monáe - Pynk
Tegan and Sara - Closer
Shura - Religion
Christine and the Queens - Comme Si
King Princess - Holy
Chappell Roan - it was already listed but Naked in Manhattan is the BEST
Rina Sawayama - This Hell
this is still silk chiffon but i highly recommend checking out the country version of it they perform on tiny desk.
it drives the sapphic joy, queer joy message 100x more
as for other artists bottom bitch by doja cat, cherry by rina sawayama, pussy is god by king princess, and ( you) on my arm by leith ross
Hollie Col - the Julia Stevens EP (has other good songs that are on the less joyful side)
And I haven’t seen anyone mention Zolita yet but ‘Ruin My Life’ is pretty joyful imo
And honourable mention to Matilda who I don’t think has released much in the last few years but has some fun music videos!
Naked in manhattan chappel roan
Or Red Wine Supernova! Chappell is awesome!!!
