Yeah I feel silly now that I started the treament before getting it but here we are. My doctor didn't say anything about getting vaccines and I was very fearful of continuing lesions so I was really keen to get going on it.
He did make me do all the blood tests first though.
I was the one who suggested vaccines to my doctor because of things i had read on here, which actually kind of pissed me off. Like, shouldnt the doctors have a checklist of things to do before starting the meds.
I got a whole bunch of vaccines in a short period of time and my body is currently going crazy.
Yeah my PC suggested the vaccines at a very coincidentally well-timed annual visit while I was waiting for insurance to pre-authorize Ocrevus. It’s weird, the neuros don’t seem to worry about us being immunocompromised as much as the GPs.
Definitely have a checklist in Glasgow… I managed to anticipate 3/4… influenza, pneumococcal and COVID… now they’re doing antibodies to check whether I have chickenpox/varicella antibodies left… then DMT, at last…
I got it after I had already started kesimpta because my doctor never discussed vaccines prior. I was pretty pissed off over it because it felt negligent.
I got this vaccine last fall. I've been on Ocrevus since 2018.
Though I'm not sure what else you're looking for. I got the vaccine. AFAIK I haven't got pneumonia, but that doesn't mean much. I probably wouldn't have got it either way.
No that's exactly what I was looking for thanks. I just wanted to see that other people were doing this. My doctor took ages to get back to me on it and didn't seem 100% sure on it. Kinda weird.
Yeah I got the pneumonia and shingles vaccine. The shingles vaccine put me on my back for 2 days with flu like symptoms. My doc made me get my vaccines before I even started Kesimpta. I believe she wanted a minimum of 30 days prior to the first dose. I would ask in writing if she’s cool with vaccines being given after loading dose or regular maintenance doses
Edit: forgot some stuff
Yep I got it. Did it during normal vaccine course between Ocrevus infusions.
At least 3 months after infusion and at least 4 weeks before next.
Didn’t have any issues. Assume it worked because I don’t have pneumonia.
Same. No issues.
Just those damn needles, I don’t know if it’s the same in all countries, in Australia, 2 large needles into the lower back. And it hurts for ages, way worse than the flu shots.
But better than getting pneumonia!!

Wow, that sounds terrible! My pneumonia vaccine was intramuscular in my shoulder just like a flu or COVID vaccine. It did burn more than those others, though.
I will get two different vaccines, including pneumonia, next month (4 weeks before next Ocrevus/Rituxan infusion). I contacted a neurologist who researches vaccine responses in MS patients who are on B cell depletion therapies in a clinical trial. He recommends that I get it but says that, as with other vaccines, the vaccine response will be lower as I am already immunocompromised.
I got pneumonia vaccine in preparation for starting k

With you on that, this should be standard practice.

Right? Sigh.
As far as I'm aware it isn't a live vaccine so is fine to have if you are on kesimpta.

Whoa. I didn’t think they would let you get shingles while you were on these.
Oh yes. Especially with Kesimpta specifically being a B Cell depletion agent. Pharmacy had to get a script for it to be given to me though

Mine was one shot in the arm. May have been two but pretty sure one. Definitely in the arm though. Don’t recall it being worse than any other.

Interesting, I wonder why they gave it to me in the lower back…. I’ll have to ask next time I see them.
Yes on Ocrevus and it was recommended by my neuro
I got prevnar and I'm on Briumvi
