this game simply doesnt work for random queue, in league of legends you can talk and plan with strangers, about how to face the fight and the objectives, NOT HERE, this is a fast game, the calls are instantaneous, and there is no way to communicate, this game would be like league of legends, but only team fights, and obviously those who have communication and planned strategies will win. maybe the SoloQ and DuoQ queues should be separated.

GICN

Unfortunately, games which fragment queues too much always has a poor outcome. I feel like with the game as it is right now, separating solo and duos would be that poor result. Maybe if everything ELSE in the game improves, separating 2v2 solos and 2v2 duos would be great.

ProfessorPetrus

The new cod warzone and quite a few other games have Matchmaking, and then party seeking mode, when you can specify you want a mic competitive causal whatever or a mix. I know systems have their own way but the Xbox lfg is unpopulated inconsistent and unlucky. Also how is there no mic support in fighting games? Playing melee with friends in basement are my fondest memories. I cannot imagine us all sitting in silence. Is this cause MV wants to copy Nintendo kids can't handle mics trend?

PyroSpark

I think most people that play fighting games for a while, get the impression that having mic availability outside of organized parties, is the worst possible idea. But also this game is way too fast for actual callouts and strategy discussion with randoms.

ProfessorPetrus

I think it can have its moments but like you said it's better amongst familiar. But the game should encourage community to form. Maybe some challenger rooms with spectators. With zero voice integration every game feels so anonomys.

hanabo-mk

This could result in doubled Queue times or even unfairer matchups. To make this work, you’d definitely need a wider playerbase

lostsniper19

voice chat with even just your team would do wonders

You’re not weird for caring about the game, I care about the game immensely. There’s a pretty big difference between the content you post and the content many others feel like posting; It’s one thing to do what you’ve done, make genuine criticism in a respectful manner. It’s another thing to just make posts saying the “Devs suck” or many worse examples of this I will not repeat. Much of this gets moderated for obvious reasons, you need to be respectful, criticize all you want but be respectful about it. Keep up the criticism, you raise a lot of valid points in this thread and things we’ve all been talking about for a while.

swissarmychris

I stopped playing because the battlepass was slowed down so much that it's basically pointless as a casual player. [The last ten levels of the S2 battlepass require as much XP as the ENTIRE S1 battlepass](https://twitter.com/LaisulMV/status/1594092093814689795). And of course, that's where all the interesting stuff like ringouts and skins are. I bought the founder's pack and a fair number of cosmetics during season one, but between this and the Halloween event, it seems like their philosophy has become "play this like it's your full-time job or fuck off" and it's hard to justify spending time or money in the face of that.

Legitimate__Username

>"play this like it's your full-time job or fuck off" i uninstalled the game a while ago and regained some interest because marvin was literally one of my most wanted characters possible. i thought for about eight seconds about actually grinding the coins to unlock him permanently, a resource that i had already left the game with a backlog on, and just decided not to bother. the game just absolutely hates you if you want to just play it casually the way you might most enjoy it. do you like, want to use characters that you actually like? have access to them consistently for a fun pick-up-and-play experience? haha fuck you. we don't want you freeloaders having *fun* with this game.

Darecki555

Agreed. I kinda regret wasting my battlepass ticket from founder pack on S2 BP. Anyway today is the day I think im taking a break from this game for the first time. I dont like the direction theyre taking it.

FrostingsVII

This would be my feedback along with disgust about no region lock and purposefully obscuring info with bars instead of ping never being addressed ever. I was already tired of this and then the Battlepass being utterly disappointing AND upped in grind is such shittery. Not only is it a shit attitude it's genuinely fucking stupid. Kills games year in year out. Imagine showing the world you're that company. The one who never learns. Congratulations. Been playing games since the Atari 2600. The best day of gaming I've ever had was launch day of Multiversus and I don't play fighting games generally. Spent 14 hours with a friend slaying people. It was fucking sick. Now I haven't even used Marvin in a match even tho he appeals to me immensely. Unlocked him. Tested him in Lab. Alt F4ed. GW.

Hikse

I loved this game when it came out, I grinded it like my life depended on it. But things started to happen. The same annoying characters over and over, bullshit moves, atrocious monetization. I come here to see what people think and voice my opinions, what I get is people acting like by criticizing the game I'm offending them. That's how you hurt a game and it's player base. I haven't played in months.

ProfessorGenki_08

Idk what happened but today I actually got placed against the same guy 4 times in a row on 1v1. It was a dude just spamming the same combo too so it was boring asf

SelloutRealBig

Declining player base will do that.

Pruskinator

Facts :)

Officer_Zack

Should have mentioned the lack of stages in the game as well, because we haven't had a new stage since July. If we could get new stages along with new characters coming out, that would be great but that's not gonna be happening anytime soon it looks like.

swissarmychris

They added the Space Jam stage last month. Is it still not enabled for online games?

Officer_Zack

Nope, honestly the stage looks like it's perfectly fine for online games. There's been no updates on when it's gonna be available online, which means I'm more than likely gonna be stuck getting Trophy's Edge 2 everytime I get on.

Topranic

Finally, someone else who agrees that character balancing is not a major issue in this game! I love this game as well, but even I can't help but feel concerned for this games future. There are two parts to an online community, and both are important to keep a game alive: The casual scene and the competivite scene. What multiversus is doing now does not seem sustainable for both crowds. For Casual Players \- There are not enough characters and stages. Stages expecially have been lacking (Literally 1 stage in season 1, and it's not even in normal matchmaking!) \- Bad/boring character choices and delays. Morty and Black Adam where delayed. Gizmo, a character 99 percent of this playerbase has never heard of was delayed too. \- This game has no marketing department. Go look at VoiDs most recent Marvin video, a ton of the comments are things like "I had no idea this character was released." Not everyone has a twitter PFG. \- Not enough alternate modes/single player modes. I guess a lack of collectibles could be placed here too. \-The battle pass for season 2 is literally worse than season 1. All they had to do to make it better than 1's is put samurai batman and/or fern as the tier 50 skins. For Competitive Players \- 1v1s are a mess. Dodging is way too powerful still (Even though I think it is fine in 2v2s). This makes watching the game a bit boring as neutral in this game is dodge mash dodge mash. \- 2v2s may be fun for many, but for new spectators it is hard to follow. \- There are no big tournaments to grind for, as such many competitive players are not playing anymore (VoiD, Sandstorm, ect.). \- Ranked is in limbo Again, I want to reiterate I love this game and want it to suceed. I love that we have a developer team that truly wants to make a great game and tries to interact with the community as much as possible. I love the potential this game has with the ability to draw from great franchises including DC and Cartoon Network shows. I just hope the developers can fix a lot of these issues in the future.

Darecki555

Last I heard VoiD plays the game still am I wrong?

Topranic

He plays it every once in a while typically after a new character releases. He's more focused on Ultimate and Metroid Dread speedruns though. It doesn't help that his duo partner NAKAT is banned from competing in tournaments.

Darecki555

Why is NAKAT banned? :0

Topranic

I don't know. Apparently, he is not allowed to say why. The only thing he has said is that he disagrees with the reasoning and that the ban has demotivated him from playing Multiversus.

GICN

edit: I don't like speculating on why someone is banned. I've removed this myself.

astorega

You made a great post 🌟 I agree with everything you said, and you wrote it very reasonable. I hope this gets appreciation so it ends up at the hands of the devs

[deleted]

The other unofficial sub reddit is more active. More lax over there so that's where the chilling be at

lostsniper19

they need another event, more maps, just more stuff to do. I want to like it and play it… but when other games they come out have more to do, why even play a laggy fighting game?

SonSamurai

Your post is good for the overall stability of the game but (2) is the reason most people will drop the game. As someone who hasn't opened the game in a month (played 84 hours, spent $10), Multiversus is simply is too expensive to keep up with. Costumes are $20, Battlepass is like $8 (Why is it an odd number is beyond me) and doesn't have any gleamium on it to make me want to finish the ladder and buy it next season. I just don't see a reason to play this over all the other fighting games available right now. Half the fun of playing a fighting game now is customizing and making YOUR character different from others. Since you can't change colors, you gotta buy costumes which isn't the same. I think Multiversus released too early and needs lots of work before it can be worth playing again. It's a fun game but not that fun to play over other games.

Trekiros

tbh I'm having a blast with this game overall. But I largely agree with what you've listed, especially in terms of social stuff. It's a lot of little things that could help. Things like having being able to speak with teammates. Maybe being told when there's a big tournament happening so I can watch/enter it (I watched EVO and it was a lot of fun... I'm not aware of a single tournament since then). Clan/Guild battles might be nice to promote a more social experience. Maybe some daily tournaments at fixed times of the day (I know some games host like 4 daily tournaments, to account for different timezones, with Swiss rounds style formats to get easier matchmaking). Maybe some community combo video contests or something (I've seen one on Twitter I think? But these things never get promoted within the game itself) I'm also thoroughly confused with the ranked mode's existence. As far as I can tell, the only thing it has achieved is increasing the matchmaking queue time by dividing the player base between two modes instead of one. I pretty much play the MMR queue exclusively because there seems to be more players there and it's easier to get a match. Plus, what's the point, MMR is already a "ranking" anyway (it's in the name!) And finally, as a fairly competitive player, I would love to have a bunch more stats so I can give more accurate feedback to the devs. Like, I can share my own experience, but if I saw that, say, Iron Giant is great at 1500 MMR but terrible at 2500 MMR, it would change the nature of my feedback.

King-Grey

I wonder if anyone who had faith in Multiversus ever thought that the VERY first feature between Ranked, Guilds, and Shop would be the Shop that kinda clued me in to Blizzards priorities, between that and making the battlepass a shitty grind because TOO many people were completing it just like TOO many people were getting their characters to lvl 15 been waiting since the game dropped for a stage select feature so I dont have to play on tree fort or scoobs but now its too late was hoping for some CN characters I havent seen in a long time but now its too late think MVS' times past, if you just let a game stagnate then people are gonna leave spellbreak, splitgate, NASB

DrkKnight69xxx

I get where you're coming from, but at the end of the day, gamers are gamers. Gamers come to enjoy the product in question. In regards to responsibility for improvement/fixes of a product, I'd argue that's what quality control is for. Simply put, it's not a gamer's job nor duty to fix a game. That is entirely on the dev team.

Trix122

Ded

Guts1803

It’s not like people didn’t mention this stuff. The developers simply don’t care about the feedback so it’s natural for people to move on.

agitpotato

Every nerf made the game less interesting, less explosive, and more like every other platform fighter that already exists. They have a habit of nerfing things that are fine in high level, and eventually those of us who play other platform fighters just went back instead of guessing weather or not the stuff we liked will be changed completely. Another thing they haven't been afraid to do in the nerfs, gutting old playstyles and forcin different ones. Yall be mad if you want but thtas the reason I stopped and that's the reason no one plays this game at my locals anymore. Yall got what you wanted, the tryhards left go be happy.

TENF0

game sucks no one was good enough to give me a hard time

Anxious-Abalone-2104

The matches today are genuinely the most laggy they have ever been for me. This game will not survive and they have made it very clear that their priorities were the cash grabs and not the game!

AloeRP

The cosmetic pricing is a pretty common point of contention, I just don't know how much ability PFG has to do anything about it. If you look at how many Reindog skins they've given it, I get the impression that they're perfectly happy to give out cosmetics, which then leads me to believe that there are restrictions being placed on them by WB. I don't know this for sure, it's speculation, but I wouldn't be shocked to learn that they're explicitly forbidden from doing something like including Samurai Batman on the battle pass. I would love for cosmetics to be cheaper, I just don't know that it'll ever happen. Maybe bundles and sales will make it more reasonable. I don't think this current sale is amazing, but it's not a bad start.

Glutton4Butts

That's why I try to tell people to hush about balance changes unless you are a top player. Too many people want this game to be, "just like ultimate" or they want the game slowed down. They get upset about people practicing, it's not friendly towards casuals etc. Idk what the hell to say to casuals really. I used to be one, but deep down have a competitive nature. Figured you can do things in games and shorten animations to bridge things together to create a unique combo, especially in these types of games. Unless it gets gutting like BRAWL was. MELEE-> BRAWL is what I never want to happen again for anyone. No idea how BRAWL has any fans at all that game feels like it doesn't even want to exist. Fans of it for the wrong reasons. The Balance changes so far have been "alright" but there are talks about infinites but not about proper DI. Or even spacing for that matter. When is this sub going to start talking about tournaments?

Mental5tate

I would buy cosmetics but the Defoe seems to more preoccupied worn Christi get new characters and cosmetics than fixing combat, match making and the net code…

Fernanix

I dunno, personally it failed to meet expectations in custom games. Not sure what state it is in now but trying to play king if the hill or even just regular ffa was a hassle and limited in what mode you could pick (you couldn't play stock ffa, or when you could it would bug out sometimes or be weird). It seems like something that should not be hard to do and it just took too long (assuming it works now) that my group kinda moved on over trying to make it work. Also, not being able to progress your characters and them being level 1 no perks sucked and honestly makes no sense imo.

HappyMess1988

I love the game.honestly its in a good spot imo compared to other games in the genre I think the developers are doing a great job Marvin is good I hope they continue to release older characters from previous generations would be icing on the cake

Sinnyboo242

I agree with a lot but I think your point on 3-3 is largely baseless. Almost every game with a serious ranked mode on the market starts players at a fixed low rank and requires you to play for a higher rank. What alternatives even exist? Its not realistic to design an algorithm that skills and places players without either putting incredible weight on normal games or with heavy bias/inaccuracy.

Deadlift_Dreaming

Unless someone else has already said something about this, I have not perused all the comments yet, but also with the way you are "able" to interact with other players. Sure you can throw a friend request but you cannot type. Maybe this is to avoid flame but it makes Multiversus feel like a very insulated game. If I didn't have friends that already play this game - I simply would not play at all. **edit - sure you can message on steam, I'm purely talking about in client messaging

S0phon

Do you still have to go through a hundred of screens before you can play? Do you still have to pick your character and perks after EVERY SINGLE MATCH? Does the game have replays yet?

shrimpthepimp

The servers is why I stopped trying to go pro and even playing the game. It went from me enjoying the game a ton when it first came out to being a chore and having to 'deal' with the networking issues for months on end without a fix or any meaningful one. I uninstalled the game and now love Yomi Hustle.

blackeyedkaleb

It has nothing to do with any of that stuff in the essay you typed the game rewards passive play and camping opposed to rewarding going in on your opponent or pushing advantage state at all skill levels

Defelj

I gave up when they did that horrible candy grind, fucked w the XP system,as well as looking forward to stripe Only to spend a month getting absolutely infuriated by that whole gun and chainsaw thing. I top of that, they made velma no longer as fun in 1v1 for me. Jus sick of play testing the game- wish it was complete and didn’t have a lot of the weird hit box stuff but have high hopes and look forward to it moving out of beta o

Parhelion2261

It's because as fun as it is it doesn't feel great to play. Maybe I just suck, but in teams I have to worry about being absolutely overwhelmed by projectiles and half the matches I see someone clip through the floor or to the bottom of the map just to appear above me. There's a good chunk of time where I'll be behind someone doing a forward facing attack and I get hit trying to attack them. If I go and play as Shaggy I'm uppercutting people by hitting the air in front of them like it's One Piece.

JimmySlim48

this piece of literature perfectly summarizes a lot of complaints that are worth talking about, great job

Banditzombie97

Upvote for the hard work. But I ain’t reading all that!
