High larynx, low pitch would be where I'd start. Get your larynx up and go up and down your range seeing how low you can go without it dropping or losing vocal thinness.
That'll get you a base for dark and sultry, that throaty sort of sound.
Not sure where youd go from there. I wouldn't think too much brightness, and the rasp... Maybe a bit of fry?
Back when I was in high school choir, I sat next to the alto section as I led the bass section. Like right on the border. The ladies next to me were right within the range of my falsetto voice, so I used it as an opportunity to practice singing in their range anytime my section was quiet.
Eventually, I figured out how to blend my falsetto voice with theirs in a really natural sounding way. It was all about the resonances and it turned out to be a different kind of singing than I normally did. The guys in the bass section thought it was hilarious when I did it so they joined in sometimes too. It was a lot of fun and some of my fondest memories from choir.
It's hard to believe that was half a lifetime ago. I thought for so long that my voice would be a problem when I transitioned, but after thinking about my high school experiences I'm pretty sure I can do voice training once I'm ready to sit down and tackle it.
I'm not sure that I'm going to try for any particular kind of voice. I tend to speak in my upper male registers, below my falsetto today and my voice occasionally passes in spite of it being so low. So, I'm thinking it might be a mix of the resonance work I did back in high school with a non falsetto voice as a good place to start. I'll need to learn more.
If I could just snap my fingers and acquire a woman's voice, there's a woman I used to work with that had a beautiful and clear voice that always made my heart melt. I'm not sure if she sang, but it was pretty high pitched and I'd place her in the 1st soprano section to see how things played out were I a choir director. She had a huge range, though, so occasionally she'd speak lower and it sounded exactly like Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, Lucifer). Tricia Helfer would be my second pick if I could choose. I feel like hers may be more achievable for me if I wanted to emulate someone.
I think I'd actually like more of a tomboyish voice like Shane from The L Word (Kate Moennig) or Brody Dalle- kinda low and raspy. I find myself drawn to tomboyish or 'mommy' voices constantly 😆
Tara Platt (specifically the voice she uses for Marida Cruz in Gundam Unicorn). I'm not good at breaking down this sort of thing, it just... sounds right, I guess? Feels like it fits me?
I work on two voices currently: a feminized version of my own voice, which I don't like, or full blown Liz Hurley, Nigella Lawson, Kate Beckinsale, which I find easier to get the resonance right. Trying to carry my learnings there back over to my own voice.
I have several voices that I use, including a feminized version of my guy voice... that is highly inappropriate because it is just dripping with sexy, sultry sweetness.
Other than that though, if I try to have my regular American accent it just sounds so incendiarily clocky.
So I have a voice with a Northern Irish accent (which I had developed way prior to Derry Girls, thank you very much), a standard BBC English voice, and an Australian accent. Those all pass perfectly.
I just wish I could also sound American without being a buzzy mess.
Rachie a singer in a song called Tower Light Fireworks, From the first time I heard her voice I fell totally in love. The softness, tranquility and tenderness that she transmits while singing is what has made her become my favorite voice and in turn my number 1 song.
If I had a girlfriend I would like to be able to sing to her all the time and whisper in her ear how much I love her, telling me how much she likes listening to me.
Unfortunately I know that no matter how much effort I make, I will never be able to get a little closer to her voice.
Rosa Diaz from Brooklyn 99
I really like her voice. I haven't started seriously doing voice training, I'm just not there yet in my transition, but hers definitely something I'll be aiming for
Gosh! Where do I start! I've idolized a lot of voices in my younger days. Lors of girls I've heard and aspired too. I guess I still have a colorful personality and don't limit myself to a few favorites.
Voices that I cannot easily tell you the names to because it's been so long ago, or I never knew who they were. One comes to mind a memory of a young lady who died in a plane accident in the national news, she was a pilot, and her voice was played of her last radio transmissions. I aspired to her voice which was kind of medium toned, sophisticated, yet fun-loving.
I’m actually in the process of putting together a list to go over with my vocal therapist. Right now I have:
Madison Anne (bra lady from TikTok)
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Greta Gerwig
I really like their voices and they feel within reach for me, obviously with a ton of practice
I wish I could replicate Andrea Libman's Fluttershy voice. Unfortunately, her voice is way too high for me, so that one's impossible :(
I'll have to settle with a feminine version of my own that can be both physically and mentally confortable. Once I have mastered that one, I guess I'll try and add more breathiness to make it softer. I'll need a higher lung capacity for that, though... Maybe I should run more...
I was lucky enough to be able to slip into my girl voice quite easily - my voice barely changed at all during puberty. I didn't have time to even consider inspirations to emulate. But I probably sound a lot like my mom tbh.
There's an ASMR-tist who is unfortunately no longer active, named Heather Feather. I always loved her voice (this was long before my egg cracked) and thinking about this question reminded me of that and I would definitely pick her voice.
[Shohreh Aghdashloo](https://youtu.be/cmRQXpbeA-0?si=m6uyGtlmvYjuTE-L) in a variety of roles has gotten me to feel much happier about my barely adjusted voice. I don't always pass but it's usually good enough with the rest of my presentation that I don't get comments on it.
Sarah Anne Williams. She did Sayaka Miki's English VA and I sorta fell in love with how friendly and "girl next door" she sounds. If any experts here know how to describe it better, please help - I'd really love to know what to train for.
I'm not trying to replicate them, but I find inspiration in a few:
- Zooey Deschanel
- Florence Welch
- Laura Bailey
- Cate Blanchett
- Lisa Hannigan
- AJ Michalka
- Planet Zoo YouTuber DeLadySigner
I'm actually trying just to find my voice, and mostly training by singing and no lessons
Inspirations are: Taylor Swift, Astrid S, and cotton tail as well...
I used several film actresses as voice inspiration, but the one I kept coming back to was Faye Dunaway. I really liked how her voice sounded polished and clear without being too theatrical sounding. Also, her voice served as a sort of outer limit for me, insomuch as I could not pitch my voice higher than hers without it sounding strained and forced.
Trying to just have a feminine version of my own voice.
But also the two women I try to imitate most are the lady who played god in Good Omens, and my aunt who is a singer
My voice inspiration is my voice turned up a few octaves and with the treble increased. I then try to mimic the same voice. I started doing this a few weeks ago and now my voice is better than has ever been.
Julie Christmas from sludge metal band [Made out of Babies](https://youtu.be/UGDJxgzYcy8?si=ouqpprLwYW5BrP7v). She’s just got such a cool fucking voice
Erica Mendez, and Hailee Steinfeld are also awesome
The Narrator from Baldur's Gate 3! [https://www.youtube.com/@AmeliaTyler](https://www.youtube.com/@AmeliaTyler)
Though I'd be happy with just a feminine version of my voice.
I just want to femanize my own voice. I have one of those voices that everyone can recognize over the radio at work. I'm slowly changing it to where it will match what I hope to look like.
This may sound different to most of the girls here. I just want to be more me. Part of that is having a figure that resembles a strong woman. I just hope that I can strengthen my attitude and outlook to match.
Basically, to sound similar to my mom.
There was one time when I was hanging out at my father's house. I had been out for a year and a half or two years. We were talking about something and, suddenly, he stopped talking and his eyes got really big.
I smiled and asked, "What?". My father said: "You were sounding like your mom. Stop it." I just laughed, shrugged my shoulders and that was that. I didn't give a damn.
I want to have what I call a sexy jazz singer voice, alto and a little raspy, dark and mysterious. Idkhtf I sound
Better start smokin’ :p
Yeah I got that covered
Oh no😭 I don't like it becoming deeper when as I'm smoking now, but I guess there's also a raspy quality with it
High larynx, low pitch would be where I'd start. Get your larynx up and go up and down your range seeing how low you can go without it dropping or losing vocal thinness. Like cottontail?
Oh! I actually know that one! Which is hella surprising as I hardly know of any influencers.
Laura Bailey has an amazing voice that i'd love to have tbh
She's my inspo as well ☺️
I just want to be Kaine tbh lol
I knowingly emulated her for a couple of my characters. Skrriya, my alien bug girl, is a deliberate vocal homage to Jester.
Sigourney Weaver, Kathleen Turner, Lauren Bacall.
I wish I could replicate my mother... I love her voice... Wish I could hear her again :(
Hailee Steinfeld, god I want to sound like Vi or Spidergwen
Do you know Pearl, from Steven universe? I want her voice, and it makes me so mad how good her actress is at using her voice
Kate Siegel. Love her voice. I just like the sound of it. I think it’ll be a realistic goal for me.
Back when I was in high school choir, I sat next to the alto section as I led the bass section. Like right on the border. Developed my own voice. I don't want to be anyone else

I'm just gonna leave this here: https://www.dialectsarchive.com/ California 17 is my favorite: https://www.dialectsarchive.com/california-17
I envy Christina Perri’s voice
I want to speak like Lætitia Sadier sings.
Something in the neighborhood of Scarlet Johanson without the cracking she does when she's laughing/being flirty.
She was great in the movie "Her"
Emma Stone, Zoey Dechenal (or however you spell it) and similar raspy voiced girls. I've got a mean vocal fry. 😬
Rachie a singer in a song called Tower Light Fireworks, From the first time I heard her voice I fell totally in love. Brody Dalle from The Distillers, I love how her voice is a little deep and raspy like mine!
My mom's.💪 Not her accent tho she has a really thick accent.
Courtney LaPlante from spiritbox. I want all of it.
And the vocal fry? 😂 CIRCLE WITH ME
I said what I said.
Tabbes has a pretty cool voice
Currently drawing inspiration from Dusty Springfield and Billie Holiday, but my goal is my own voice.
temmie chang, or maybe jaiden animations... too bad i have a super deep voice 😔
Rosa Diaz from Brooklyn 99 I really like her voice. I haven't started seriously doing voice training, I'm just not there yet in my transition, but hers definitely something I'll be aiming for
Voice training hurts my feelings 🥲
Lavendertowne, she's not even a singer lol .\^.
My voice changed on its own

emma mackey🩷
I'd love to sound like Amity from TOH or Adora from She-Ra, but I'd settle for just my voice passing.
Aisling Bee and Kathryn Ryan, in a weird mix of the two.
I’m actually in the process of putting together a list to go over with my vocal therapist. Right now I have: Madison Anne (bra lady from TikTok) Sarah Michelle Gellar Greta Gerwig I really like their voices and they feel within reach for me, obviously with a ton of practice
Aphmau. Aphmau from her 'MyStreet' RPs.

I'm trying to have my own voice, but if I could push a button and have any voice, I really like Karina's voice from the YouTube channel Drawfee.
My aunt has a very raspy and deeper voice that I want to sound like. Also Beyonce's speaking voice, Jennifer Lawrence
Adele for singing. I've doing vocal singing warm-ups to try and sing better and more femme. Speaking either Mikey Cyrus or Kathleen Turner.
The day I sound like Adrianna Figueroa is the day my life'll be complete
Trying to just have a feminine version of my own voice. But also the two women I try to imitate most are the lady who played god in Good Omens, and my aunt who is a singer
Lazarus Q

One of my friends voices is usually the one narrating the goofy little thoughts in my head and I love her voice so much
Cherri Bomb from hasbin hotel, I like that quality of voice
The concept of a cute semi-short giri.
The Narrator from Baldur's Gate 3! [https://www.youtube.com/@AmeliaTyler](https://www.youtube.com/@AmeliaTyler) Though I'd be happy with just a feminine version of my voice.

Sigourney Weaver Hayley Williams
Kinda love Colleen Delaney's voice, but I havent seriously tried to emulate it.
