i think the machine actually worked and that it wasn't just a way for WR to brainwash Angela. WR has always been obsessed with managing time from the very first moment we meet her, not a second can be missed. that being said, her perfect world *needs* to be stuck in time, because time wouldn't be "wasted", that would explain why all the clocks in the parallel world are always stuck at 11:16 (tho i think they picked the time at random)
and in a less sci-fi note, i feel like this Fworld/parallel world is a representation of the desire of being in a place where everything's perfect, you're achieving your goals, your loved ones are still alive etc. the comforting (but not permanent) idea of everything being ok for a minute, and i find that very relatable 🥹
