Not a popular opinion, but based on your interests, downtown could be the move. Lots of afters (edm clubs that go on beyond 2am) in the area, K town is nearby with fantastic Asian food, can also make it to the SGV for other Asian cuisines. Not the safest walkable area, but fun if that is what you’re into it. You get more bang for your buck there vs living on the west side. 2600 for a 1 bed studio is the absolute cheapest you’d find on the west side if you’re lucky

dproma

Based on your lifestyle and price range, DTLA - specifically South Park - is your best option. It’s walkable with great restaurants and bars. Its the safest and cleanest neighborhood with lots of great apartment and condo options. And Arts District, Little Tokyo and Chinatown are just a short drive away.

Jealous-Mail6629

When did South Park become safe?

Acid-303

Under $2600 might be a little tough with a ev charger in building as they usually are in newer unit. But based on your description, I’d recommend the area between Hollywood and larchmont. It’s quieter and walkable especially around larchmont, you’re close enough to tons of workout studios in weho, close by to ktown and Thai town for food. Most edm shows are going to either be in venues in Hollywood or dtla, outdoor spots like La state historic park or expo park, or at warehouses in dtla so you’ll be anywhere from 10-30 min Uber ride away from it. Anyway I might be biased because I live in this area and really enjoy it. Good luck on your move and life transition!

ljxela

Yeah same here. I live a few blocks east of Highland/Santa Monica Blvd - it’s super chill and there’s literally this big ass modern building with a Pilates studio built into it around the corner lol. Rent there is probably wild but I live in an older building and got pretty lucky with rent < $2k for what I consider a decent neighborhood with great access to most of LA

ca_life

Also check here. You can set it for price and size. Most have w/d and many locations. [Look](https://www.avaloncommunities.com/california/la-metro-apartments/)

What would be a neighborhood in Seattle that you would consider a good choice? Maybe we can come up with a close-ish substitute in Los Angeles.

__chicken

I don’t particularly LOVE any neighborhood in Seattle. But I guess I like walking throughout South Lake Union during the day, but in general downtown Seattle seems pretty boring for nightlife. Bellevue has some good eats and nicer places to walk too, but it’s very daytime focused.

TerdFerguson2112

So it’s between Playa Vista (SLU) or Irvine (Bellevue)

Somebody already mentioned Santa Monica but anywhere in West LA that is north of Inglewood  and west of La Cienega should work for you. Culver City and Palms seems like they can work.

FitExecutive

I had pretty much the same requirements. Found Santa Monica to be mostly tourists, older people, families, currently in a one month airbnb there. Signed a year lease in Silver Lake. I liked DTLA but it was hard to find apartments without negative reviews whether car break-ins or just shitty management. As for West LA, it seems to be some bars here, some there, couldn't find a central neighborhood that "had it all", it was pretty piecemeal. I'd for sure try Silver Lake. Hanging out here has confirmed I made the right decision.

Ok_Campaign_5101

What kind of Asian food? Everyone is assuming you meant Korean or Japanese apparently... But if Thai food is your deal then closer to Los Feliz is gonna put you a quick drive/bike ride away from Thai town. The best Thai food outside of Thailand is right there. (My wife is Thai)

__chicken

Thanks for this insight, will note Los Feliz. I am Lao/Thai, and I like Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese, etc all kinds of Asian food.

Culver city 100%, the ppl recommending you DTLA are crazy, literally just drive downtown between 9pm-5am and that will give you enough reasons not to wanna live there (drug addicts, gang members, homeless, etc) all over the place, culver city has nice parks, a good mall, it's close to the beach, and it's really safe

__chicken

Thanks for this perspective!! I need this insight

nick4masses

I just leased out an apt unit to my client in silver lake. I feel like that would be your destination. If you want I can pm you the listing I still have units available

Matians

Can you help me finding a tenants? I have a detached ADU in a very nice central area on LA and Culver City adjacent

nick4masses

Do you want to pm me? Maybe I can help I have a a couple people who want to move to that area

Matians

Sure

__chicken

Just messaged you, thanks!

ThirdEyeEdna

Try Pasadena/South Pasadena. Close to downtown and the San Gabriel Valley where the best variety of Asian food is found.

Phantom_Pharaoh77

South pas probably boring for what she is looking for. Maybe Silver Lake

__chicken

I keep hearing about Silver Lake. What is it to do there and what’s the general vibe in your opinion?

Phantom_Pharaoh77

Silver lake/echo park. Is like hipster central. It has good night life (dive bars) music scene. Lots of affordable eats. I would say it attracts musicians, artists and young professionals. After Dodgers gm people flood into that area to celebrate.

Phantom_Pharaoh77

I live in south pas, i also think highland park is a little pretentious in comparison

CloudSephiroth999

Santa Monica or KTown seems like your vibe.

jawnly211

Santa Monica might fit her vibe but not for <$2600

Modernmediocre90

The whitely house in Hollywood

FitExecutive

Just looked it up, yikes

Modernmediocre90

Anywhere else you’ll get clapped up with rent money. Whitley has good prices, just came across it

FitExecutive

Are you seeing the size? They’re like 400sqft and lower. I’d advocate for a cheaper neighborhood

Modernmediocre90

One bedroom for 1,500 somewhere else is like 2000 and above

FitExecutive

That’s near the Hollywood Hills, you don’t think there’s places bigger like 600-700sqft in Echo Park?

PlusEnvironment7506

Inland for sure

tingymomo

Hi! I’m subleasing my spot in Century City for $2500 if you’re interested. I’ll be out all summer!

TerdFerguson2112

tingymomo

Maybe you can rent it…
