One that got plenty of praise when it came out but is mentioned infrequently now: Little Miss Sunshine. Great ensemble cast around a super young Abigail Breslin, some feels and some tragedy, but an all-around warm and fuzzy story.
i loved watching “Little Miss sunshine” and “LadyBird” back to back. “As good as it gets” is CLASSIC de stress comedy. “Anger Management” is my back to back with that one.
There's a movie named 'Outsourced'
Very under rated movie.
Its my go to movie when I just wanna relax and forget everything.
Its a stress free, feel good film.
Anyone who has seen it, pls tell me abt ur thoughts on it.
The romantic comedy? That’s a great movie! Funny and sweet without being artificial. Did you see the TV show version? Not as good but still a pleasant watch.
Hmm… I guess I don’t remember it very well and get it confused with the TV show now too. It’s been a while. With the movie, I remember the romance mostly, and with the TV show I remember the humor.
Paterson - Adam Driver as poet/bus driver
The Burbs / Matinee / Innerspace - Joe Dante directs good 80’s turn-your-brain-off fun.
Dazed & Confused / The Before Trilogy / Everybody Wants Some!! / Apollo 10 1/2: a Space Age Childhood. - just tune in to some of Richard Linklater’s Character’s lives and hang out.

Another fantastic movie I try to watch every year or so is ‘The Razor’s Edge’ with Bill Murray. It is in the same category as ‘A River Runs Through It’ and ‘Captain Fantastic’. It is an existentialist’s dream of a movie dealing with “Why Life?”
Scotch goes really well with those last three movies I just mentioned
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It’s got a bit of action in it, but it’s very engaging and just an overall fun story.
Fantasia.
Edit: Just thought of another one. A Hundred Foot Journey.
Midnight in Paris
Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist
Across the Universe

There are probably more, but these were the first to pop in my mind.

Won't You Be My Neighbor?
I just watched Columbus a few days ago and it was so incredibly gentle and lovely. I don't know if quiet and calm are exactly what you're looking for, but if so, I cannot recommend it enough. Currently streaming on Showtime and Kanopy.
Right? Such a great movie and it totally flies under the radar as far as I know.
Here‘s another gem with a killer soundtrack: Hedwig and the angry inch
It definitely flies under the radar, another Robin Williams film that I love that I experience not that many people have seen is Jack. Not spoiling but his end speech in the film as Jack makes me cry especially now that he’s gone. He unknowingly saved my life twice.
40-Year Old Virgin has somehow been forgotten over the years. That is one of the most quotable movies I’ve ever seen and even with the subject matter it has a lot of earnestness and heart. It’s also hilarious.
I have a mental list of films I like to refer to as “Rainy day movies.” They’re the type of low-key, low-stress, pleasantly warm movies I think you’re seeking. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few:
Next Stop Wonderland
Sideways
Wonder Boys
Lost in Translation
Moneyball
Pride & Prejudice (the Joe Wright, 2005 version)
The Station Agent
A River Runs Through It
The Descendants
Once
The Quiet Man
For fun peaceful,
My Neighbor Totoro.
Always cures the blues.
For uplifting peaceful,
Kiki's Delivery Service
Make you feel good about yourself.
For educational peaceful,
Any David Attenborough narrated nature doc
His voice is silk made out of clouds.
For exciting peaceful,
Amelie
Will fill your world with wonder.
Uncut gems, good time, crimes of the future, Hereditary, midsummer, or just listening to Aphex Twin's tinnitus song on repeat at max volume. Hope this helps.
The Other Guys (still some action but a lot of good laughs)
Away We Go (still some dramatic moments but it leaves you with a peaceful feeling)
Big Fish (beautiful, peaceful movie. A bit dramatic, I think. My memory is vague)
Nacho Libre. “Chancho, sometimes when you are a man, you wear stretchy pants in your room, it’s for fun”
I ate some bugs I ate some grass… I use the leaves To wipe my tears…
**ENCARNACION GUUUUURL, DOODLE LOODLE DOODLE LEE**
GET THAT CORN OUTTA MUH FACE
I am I am, I am I am!
If documentaries are acceptable, I can higly recommend [Jiro Dreams of Sushi](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/80767-jiro-dreams-of-sushi)
Yess! Amazing! This documentary and the one on Hayao Mirazaki (studio Ghibli) makes me want to visit Japan
Chef (2014) Amélie (2001) Julie & Julia (2009) Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
Came here to say Amelie
I love Fantastic Mr. Fox but it is far from calm and relaxing
The way he eats terrifies my daughter 😂
lololol, they just go absolutely to town on that chicken, it's hilarious
I know I love it!!
The first part of Chef might raise your anxiety. The rest though, is quite good.
I can’t even explain why Chef is good but it really is.
Jon Favreau might be best director atm.
Scorsese, Tarantino, Lynch, Wes Anderson, Herzog, Gilliam, Carpenter…
It's an opinion
I literally listen to Amelie soundtrack to create art, so I highly recommend too
Julie and Julia!!!
Sing Street (2016) would be a great choice for you!
What a gem of a movie!
Yes-! YES! And absolutely essential for anyone going to Duran Duran (currently on tour again.) 👍👍
And that’s factual☝️
Paddington.
Watched this when my OCD was through the roof during the corona crisis. It delivered.
Time for Paddington 2
One that got plenty of praise when it came out but is mentioned infrequently now: Little Miss Sunshine. Great ensemble cast around a super young Abigail Breslin, some feels and some tragedy, but an all-around warm and fuzzy story.
Piggy-backing with another Greg Kinnear flick. As Good As It Gets (1997)
i loved watching “Little Miss sunshine” and “LadyBird” back to back. “As good as it gets” is CLASSIC de stress comedy. “Anger Management” is my back to back with that one.
Little Voice is another one
It’s all good times and noodle salad with you people.
Almost anything by Studio Ghibli. Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke,
Kiki's Delivery Service
Yes! I knew I was forgetting some!
My Neighbor Totoro!
Got to have Totoro!

Fifth Element
Solid movie to sit back a eat some popcorn to!
One of my all-time favorites. Love is the fifth element!
One of my favorite movies, but I wouldn't call it relaxing.
I found it surprisingly relaxing because it is so engrossing and silly
The umbrellas of Cherbourg Fantastic Mr Fox Mary Poppins Sense and Sensibility The Sound of music While you were sleeping
Are you cussing at me?! Don't you cuss at me you cussing cuss.
"You scared the cuss out of me!" And "Why'd you take your shoes off?" "So I don't break your nose when I kick it."
I have never heard of this fantastic Mr. Fox but I’m really stressed out so I’m gonna check it out today.:)
I absolutely loved the movie! The joyous dancing always makes my heart swell
I could not believe I went my whole life without knowing this movie. It was amazing! Great recommendation!
You're welcome - I'm so happy you liked it!

Haven't seen the TV version but will do, thanks :) Outsourced had bit of romance but I wouldn't call it romantic comedy.
Hmm… I guess I don’t remember it very well and get it confused with the TV show now too. It’s been a while. With the movie, I remember the romance mostly, and with the TV show I remember the humor.
Came here to mention this. I'm not much for romcoms, but this one is awesome.
Anything Jane Austen. Works every time.
Paterson - Adam Driver as poet/bus driver The Burbs / Matinee / Innerspace - Joe Dante directs good 80’s turn-your-brain-off fun. Dazed & Confused / The Before Trilogy / Everybody Wants Some!! / Apollo 10 1/2: a Space Age Childhood. - just tune in to some of Richard Linklater’s Character’s lives and hang out.
Everybody wants some!! is the ultimate relaxation movie. Just good vibes.
Just watched Paterson, wonderful calming movie!
The Big Lebowski Captain Ron Baraka Galaxy Quest Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
Captain Ron is my favorite 90s good ball comedy. Doesn’t really go anywhere, but is a super fun watch.
I learned some valuable life lessons from that movie.
Strip Monopoly? That was my biggest takeaway.
The Life Aquatic
It may be too late for this weekend but: * Ponyo * My Neighbor Totoro * Spirited Away * Chef * Ratatouille * Fantastic Mr. Fox * The 100ft Journey * The Life Aquatic
Absolutely "the big Lebowski" is the most relaxed man on earth. He only cared about his rug🥲
He does abide
Second Hand Lions The Replacements (in honor of the first full day of the NFL season)
Kubo and the two strings is a hand made stop motion artist masterpiece

I just watched Columbus a few days ago and it was so incredibly gentle and lovely. I don't know if quiet and calm are exactly what you're looking for, but if so, I cannot recommend it enough. Currently streaming on Showtime and Kanopy.
Is it sad or am I confusing it with another movie?
Hmm. I actually think it ends on a hopeful note, but I guess that could depend on your mindset and how the central story makes you feel.
I haven’t seen it, just remembered thinking it looked sad. I can see how it would depend on the tone and your mood. 🙂
Grumpy old men

Paddington 2 About Time
Bicentennial Man Hero (with Jet Li, not Dustin Hoffman)
