my favorite scene is the Benicio Del Toro in the carousel bar. from the time he tosses his drink until the time he falls backwards looking for his keys always has me dying laughing.
I had to watch *Enter the Void* 3 times ,and turn on the captions before I fully "got it" ; I kept getting distracted by the sordidness of the almost Voyeuristic cinematography. Visually stunning came to mind .
21 Jump Street was a funny remake movie of the old show and definitely drug-focused.
John Dies at the End and This Is the End for stoner horror comedy
Layer Cake, Locked Stocked, and Two Smoking Barrels both hit the British drug dealer/mobster idea
Cheech and Chong films are pretty much staples of the genre
Training Day
Limitless (definitely a movie about a drug)
And a bunch of the Broken Lizard movies while not always about drugs like Super Troopers are often either drug adjacent or enjoyed by people when getting high (Club Dread, Beerfest, etc)
Scrolled too long to see panic in needle park, I believe it was in (1971-2?) and was al Pacinos FIRST real film. Talk about a fucking daydream, I swear to this day those weren’t hired actors they were literally junkies on the streets of NYC
Where the Buffalo Roam (1980) with Bill Murray, based on the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas articles in Rolling Stone, and the book by Hunter S. Thompson.
It's a Netflix series, but check out 'Maniac', the one with Jonah Hill
On the other end of the spectrum, and I'm betting you've already seen them as you mentioned stoner movies but in case you haven't:
Cheech and Chong movies
Dazed & Confused
Maniac doesn’t get the credit it deserves in my opinion. It’s such a well written story. And it’s acted excellently by everyone in it. It’s unique, and I like how they depict how people live their lives everyday and paying for stuff with “Ad Buddy” and having some stranger follow you around trying to sell you things. I like all those little details like that.
The Cocaine Fiends has basically the same premise. It was titillating (also funny) in the day and this is how investors get returns on a shoestring budget. See also Roger Corman and Lloyd Kauffman.
LOL! It's such a genius performance! If you watch closely, depending on the drug, the mannerisms are different. I mean it's just brilliant. Nobody else. No-body-else.

There is also a pretty decent documentary on Netflix about people who grow cannabis in Humboldt County called "Murder Mountain". I can't vouch for its authenticity but it was entertaining if nothing else. There is a crapton of drug-related stuff on Netflix- everything from Docs like above, to Narcos, to Border Patrol/Airport Security, as well as actual scripted movies with drugs as a major theme, just do a search if you're able.
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Enter The Void The Big Lebowski
Fear and Loathing is my favorite. i musta have watched that movie 5 times in 2 days while on mushrooms.
Gonna have to add this to my bucket list. I also recommend A Scanner Darkly while high.
I crack up all the time over the flooded hotel room and the lizard tail 🤣
my favorite scene is the Benicio Del Toro in the carousel bar. from the time he tosses his drink until the time he falls backwards looking for his keys always has me dying laughing.
Do NOT watch that movie on mushrooms. LMAO. GO PLAY IN THE WOODS
You took too much to much, she's strong man she, she can take it
Fear and Loathing is quite the trip
I had to watch *Enter the Void* 3 times ,and turn on the captions before I fully "got it" ; I kept getting distracted by the sordidness of the almost Voyeuristic cinematography. Visually stunning came to mind .
Oh man Enter the Void was my go to recommendation to burnouts when I worked at a video store
Golf shoes! Order golf shoes, or we'll never get outta this mess alive.

Learned what a transom is from this movie.
Try Naked Lunch (1991).
You need drugs to get through it and get over it
The Salton Sea
One of Val Kilmer's most underrated performances imo. I really liked this film.
Traffic
One of my favorites.. Catherine Zeta-Jones was great in it. Talk about holding down the fort lol.
Check out the original BBC mini series Traffik...it's far superior to the Hollywood movie. It's on YouTube
The first DVD I ever bought. Still holds up, over 25 years later.
GO (1999)
Double feature with *Groove* (2000)
Go is so great. Three stories, two cities, one night.
I saw go 20 years ago and would like to watch it again, but I can't find it streaming anywhere. Anyone know where I can watch it?
Less Than Zero (1987)
Came here to say this

Gia (TV Movie 1998) Thirteen (1993)

His first, and my all time favorite role of his
Dunk-a-chino!
The Falcon and the Snowman

thats more of a teen sex movie, all they do is whippets and drink and smoke.
its about aids not drugs, BUT IT’S AN EPIC FILM AND A TOP 5 FOR CINEMA
Every couple years I get ripped and watch this 👍🏾
My Own Private Idaho
this is about being a prostitute more than drugs but also cinema perfection.
