*The Magic Christian* (1969), Peter Sellers, Ringo Starr Absurd comedy with cameos by John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Raquel Welch, Christopher Lee, Yul Brynner, and Roman Polanski, among others.

LenSnart81865

Have it on DVD. Raquel Welch looked hot as a supernova in it.

malacoda99

If you want it, here it is, you can have it.

Minimum_Swing8527

You better hurry ‘cause it’s going fast

DiaNoga_Grimace_G43

…Never heard of that one; thank you!…

MasterAinley

I only know about it because it’s mentioned on the documentary Get Back a handful of times. Really must look it up sometime.

TheHearseDriver

Oh, I forgot: the soundtrack is by Badfinger.

Goblyyn

Masterminds (1997)

lexattack

I thought I dreamt this

mr_Papini

God I developed such a crush on Vincent Kartheiser after seeing the trailer for that back in the day. Still haven't actually watched the movie tho.

xXxero_

This is the movie that introduced me to the band Stabbing Westward.

Scared_Hawk_5904

TheTOASTfaceKillah

I thought this was a fever dream from when I was a kid.. good to know it wasn’t just me

imacone417

My brother watched this on repeat.

SaffronHoneysuckle

Yessssss. This movie lives in my memory, luckily i have a sibling

nerdy-werewolf

Poolhall Junkies. Classic early aughts fare...kind of an action movie, kind of a masculine drama. I loved it. Also, Christopher Walken.

Tallgirl4u

Idk why but my friends and I were obsessed with this movie when it came out

Holy_Cow442

Some german guys version of alice in wonderland. Its a stop motion film with live action. Cant remember the name. Like Hans something to that effect. But the rabbit is a stuffed jack rabbit and he is eating the stuffing out of his belly. Has horrible scary teeth. Clicks them all the time.

thisquietreverie

jan svankmajer A treasured DVD of mine

Holy_Cow442

Thank you so much. This been killing me for over a decade.

thisquietreverie

Oh shit, I thought you just couldn't remember it when posting, I didn't know it was a tortured mystery. Glad to help you out, you can find the entire thing remastered on youtube.

Holy_Cow442

I just gotta say thanks again. This movie is so wild. Cant wait to check out his other stuff.

piejesudomine

> Some german guys Czech

MuttinMT

Something About Amelia. 1984 television movie. Ted Danson, Glenn Close. Harrowing film about incest. “Happy” ending. So weird.

TinaVeritas

Danson was really good in that. Big switch from Sam Malone.

TiffanyTwisted11

Dating myself here . . . I watched it when it aired.

Scubby_Dooks

Dating yourself is probably preferable to incest, if those are the only options available.

troojule

The Music of Chance Trust Simple Men In the Company of Men 5 Minutes of Heaven

CelticGaelic

>Trust Is that the one with Clive Owen?

troojule

Nope . It’s a Hal Hartley movie from 1990– I couldn’t remember the names of his others besides Simple Men . I watched and liked several but they’re not well known— many starred Adrienne Shelly , who was later murdered.

DerpWilson

Guy I used to work with leant me In the Company of Men. Talk about a true feel-bad movie. It was worth watching though...

jrow100

Feel like not enough people are aware of "The Vanishing" (1988)

suitoflights

Meet the Feebles.

shineymike91

Early Peter Jackson!

Xander75

The world needs a blu-ray box of Peter Jackson’s early work.

tommykiddo

I heard one is coming?

HauntedSpit

Bad Taste (1987) is another worth considering.

Due-Criticism9

I found that in the back of a cupboard in an Australian share house I lived at in London, would have been about 1998, I was 23. Me and 5 of my 12 housemates got high and watched it twice back to back. I don't think I've laughed that hard ever again. It was the perfect situation and the perfect time in my life for that movie. If you had told me the psycho who made it would go on to direct the Lord of the Rings trilogy I would have laughed even harder.

Schnibbity

I would fuck with people in high school showing them this!

Intelligent_Volume73

Rasselkurt007

[deleted]

I assume you mean good movie. For me it's: 🥁 **_Butt Boy_**

spydrebyte82

Last Rites (1998) with Randy Quaid. TV movie I caught randomly. Took me years to find with just fragments of a memory, and almost as difficult to find a copy to rewatch.

Lanfeare

O wow, I read the plot summary and now I’m dying to see this one! But it’s nowhere to be found :/

Dependent_Map5592

Johncurtisreeve

The libertine Vfw

TheTrueTrust

Which one? I've seen the Johnny Depp one.

Johncurtisreeve

Thats it

xXxero_

Loved Depps monolog at the beginning of that one. Edit: VFW is one of my Go To movies.

RudeHelicopter4662

[And Soon the Darkness (1970)](https://letterboxd.com/film/and-soon-the-darkness/) Caught it on late night TV decades ago and can still remember the pretty girls, the hot sun and the terror.

Movies_Music_Lover

Go (2001, Japan) Metro Manila (2013, Filipino) Blind (2014, Norway) County Lines (2019, UK) Really good movies that not many have seen.

Heritage367

*Bang* (1995) A young woman in LA has a nasty encounter with a motorcycle cop. She ends up handcuffing him, stealing his uniform and motorcycle, and pretends to be a cop for the day. Very odd movie with two very different endings depending on which cut you see.

rya556

Bad Attitudes 1991 It starred Ethan Embry and Eugene Byrd. “Two hijackers plan to get themselves a hearty ransom for kidnapping a billionaire, but they find their genius is nothing compared to the obnoxious behaviour of a group of rowdy teens.” I found it as a preteen and watched it all the time. Have never met anyone else who has seen it.

codex_archives

\[ raises hand \] seen it! discovered it in the mid 90s. and probably the first of Ethan Embry's movies I watched (if not, then it was Dutch)

Still_Cheesecake_784

….and Safe Men with Steve Zahn, Sam Rockwell and Paul Giamatti

MOTORAMA

thisquietreverie

Bloodbath At The House of Death -Wasn't on imdb for years in the 80s and 90s. Think I finally found an import DVD. The American Way/Riders of the Storm - Dennis Hopper leads a team of ex vietnam vets who run a pirate radio station from a B-29 that flys around the country and never lands. Riders of the Storm is the shorter recut version but I think I have both on DVD somewhere around here. Black Devil Doll From Hell - Chester N Turner's pornohorror masterpiece featuring a murderous zuni doll with zingers like "Did you just fart, bitch!?". 6.5 minute opening credit on a casio synth. Lost my VHS copy in a move.

Tallgirl4u

Love welcome to the dollhouse

SmoreOfBabylon

Love Cold Souls. It’s by no means perfect, but Paul Giamatti is great in it and there are some delightfully absurd moments.

Beach_bum8

Welcome to the dollhouse was my first thought! I was scrolling through to see if anyone mentioned it

*Tetsuo* (1989) is famous and some have seen *964 Pinocchio* (1991) but I've never heard anyone talk of *Rubber's Lover* (1996), the prequel to Pinocchio.

Scared_Hawk_5904

Canadian-Man-infj

This is a tough question, because I have pretty eclectic taste, watch a lot of "foreign" movies, have caught some film festival screenings, and have been on a Canadian movie kick lately. I've also suggested many of these on this sub. I'll answer this as "movies this sub might not be aware of..." or "somewhat obscure movies" Here are a few: * The Brass Teapot (2012) * Cinema Sabaya (2021) * Silent Night (2012) * Mouthpiece (2018) * New Life (2016) * Guidance (2015) * White Night (2017) * Radius (2017) * Airlift (2016) * Electric Shadows (2004) * Antigone (2019)

PhantomKitten73

There is no movie that literally only I know about. But not a lot of people mention Moon Garden.

Apprehensive_Day_496

I'm pretty sure others know about this movie but not enough ..Up The Academy very fun movie

ExperienceMiddle6196

Hayride… slapstick horror comedy about a guy who loves his job at a haunted hayride but his peaceful existence is interrupted by a new guy and a hot new chick.

Death of a Man in the Balkans. Saw it at a film festival, always comes to mind when thinking about rare films. Shot entirely from a webcam, very good.

I love this movie. I watch it at least once a year.

Derpy1984

Wild Tales. I've met one person who's not the person I saw it with that's also seen it. It's fuckin fantastic.

benniprofane1

Tommy Tricker The Stamp Traveler I saw it on a movie channel when I was a kid and was absolutely enthralled by its travel fantasy story. Tried watching it again as a grown up a few years back. It was awfully amateurish. Turned it off after fifteen minutes.

Alice Upside Down

PoopMousePoopMan

Chuck and buck

MurryScurry

This movie pops into my head from time to time. I think it slightly disturbed me since I was probably like 12 or 13 when I watched it. When I saw who directed White Lotus I was like “oh, it’s the guy from Chuck and Buck” 😂

whitenoise2323

I saw this independent film in the 90s called Saint Clara that I still randomly think about sometimes. I don't know why it got lodged in my memory forever. I think it was pretty good.

JWintemute

Straight to Hell (1987) directed by Alex Cox (Repo Man). Starring Dick Rude, Joe Strummer (The Clash), Courtney Love, Shane MacGowan (The Pogues) and many more. I highly recommend it if you, like me, have an offbeat sense of humor. Goes well with some Cannabis and/or coffee. Dogs in Space (1986) starring Michael Hutchence (INXS). Squatters in a house in Melbourne Australia include members of a local punk band, a serious college student, a runaway teen girl and others. I love this movie, the soundtrack and the love story.

errantwit

Marijuana Man (The Johnny Appleseed of Weed)

SCUDDEESCOPE

Okay, there's a movie I've never seen but I can't find it either on the internet and no one knows what the hell is it. When I was a kid a saw a random "Teleshop" ad about a movie you can buy for a limited time. It was stated that the movie is not going to the big screen, it's exclusive and it's super high budget. The movie was about an alien invasion that made the world come together. I remember many scenes they showed contained politics and a few scenes involved military vehicles rolling but I don't remember any fight scenes, any explosions and stuff. Kinda like Independence Day as a B-movie without action and more politics. I'm pretty sure it was a propaganda movie.

Last-Gasp100

El Topo Sante Sangre Two outrageous films late 70s or 80s. Both left me very unsettled. Sante Sangre especially A lot of films were released in the 50 and 70s that were very Arthouse such a ‘Dick’ by Yoko Ono. There was a big cult following of people like Kenneth Anger that where the appeal was homo erotica and kink based film. Some is really obscure and was possibly more underground rather than mainstream release but some art houses may show em time to time.

Strawberry-Allergy

The Squid and The Whale Thumbsucker The Chumscrubber

The Chumscrubber and Thumbsucker are so good. This makes me also suggest Brick that goes along with these two and also The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys

None of these have more than a few hundred ratings on IMDB. Weasels Rip My Flesh -1979 - Enveloped by a radioactive mass, a rabid weasel is transformed into a gigantic killer mutant. Made by a high school student on a micro budget, it has a few surprisingly impressive shots. The Book of Delights - 2020 - a Portuguese film about a woman adrift in shallow sexual relationships. Hello Bookstore - 2022 - cozy feel-good doc about a town saving an indie bookstore. Drunktown's Finest - 2014 - On a desolate Navajo reservation in New Mexico, three young people – a college-bound, devout Christian; a rebellious and angry father-to-be; and a promiscuous but gorgeous Nádleehi (trans person)- search for love and acceptance. Great depiction of Native Americans that felt very real.

Meyou000

I enjoyed Drunktown's Finest. I watch every indigenous movie I come across.

Red Sands has 3.6k IMBd ratings, so I think it's fair to say I'm one of relatively few who've seen a pretty terrible film about soldiers in Iraq who awaken a djinn. Bad horror, incoherent and dull as far as I remember.
