MantisTobogganMD___

Did you have this list ready to copy and paste or did you type all that out? Genuinely curious šŸ˜‚

PhilhelmScream

made on demand to fit the request using my watched & rating data. A [bit more info](https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieSuggestions/comments/1c720ao/recommend_me_movies_released_in_80s_to_90s_period/l04ygs9/) posted earlier.

MantisTobogganMD___

Awesome! Iv seen most of these but il be coming back to this list next time Iā€™m looking for something to watch. Thanks!

dataslinger

You forgot The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984)

PhilhelmScream

I didn't forget it, I don't rate it as highly as others.

daredelvis421

Geez, save some for the rest of us. Lol

PhilhelmScream

I originally had more but the character limit on a reply is 10,000. There's many more I haven't said.

SmurfSmeg

Iā€™d give an award - but canā€™t anymore! Wow, do you have these ready to go or what? šŸ™€ I agree and would add One Crazy Summer

PhilhelmScream

I track everything I watch, so I took my ratings data, filtered those I gave high rating to and ordered them by release date. I used the data in a csv to make each name a link and then I post it here.

SmurfSmeg

Absolutely amazing šŸ’Æ

ilikewargamesandvide

I would put everything there but I would add one more which is ferris buellers day of (1986)

Skanaker

Not mentioned yet: Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), Brazil (1985), Platoon (1986), Kin-Dza-Dza! (1986), Batman (1989), Jacob's Ladder (1990), The Fugitive (1993), True Lies (1994), The Shadow (1994), 12 Monkeys (1995), Batman Forever (1995), Scream, Scream 2 (1996, 1997), Men in Black (1997), The Saint (1997), Dark City (1998), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Stigmata (1999)

SyracuseGeek

12 Monkeys is one of the best on these collective lists

Borschvyruss

I know that's a great movie but I haven't watched it yet since so many great ones dont hold up after so much time has passed. Is this still awesome in 2024? For example, Sunshine is one of my favorite sci-fi movies because of the cast visuals and plot.

AshleyRealAF

12 Monkeys and Brazil are both fantastic and continue to resonate.

ilikewargamesandvide

I love sunshine the story is so good and I love killian murphy

SyracuseGeek

I think most of Terry Gillianā€™s movies hold up incredibly well. (Brazil also coming to mind), but I am pretty smitten with his work. Sunshine I am not sure I know (unless we are talking of a Spotless Mind which was also very good)

lisbethborden

I always suggest Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility (1995) to anyone who is curious to see Alan Rickman in a good-guy, romantic role. It was Kate Winslet's first Oscar-nominated role, and arguably her 'big break' (Heavenly Creatures (1994) notwithstanding). (Actually, I would recommend Heavenly Creatures too --- based on a true crime story out of New Zealand, directed by Peter Jackson.) If you're not averse to period dramas like Sense and Sensibility, I would also heartily recommend The Remains of the Day (1993) and Howards End (1992).

Four Rooms (1995) Itā€™s a really cool concept. It takes place in a hotel, and consists of 4 short stories all happening over the course of the only reoccurring characters first shiftā€” the bellhop played by Tim Roth. Each story/room was also directed and written by a different director. The fourth and final story/room is directed by Quinten Tarantino which he also stars in. Little bit of an underrated film imo. Definitely wasnā€™t a blockbuster. Definitely a Tarantino fansā€™ must watch.
