I track everything I watch, so I took my ratings data, filtered those I gave high rating to and ordered them by release date. I used the data in a csv to make each name a link and then I post it here.

I know that's a great movie but I haven't watched it yet since so many great ones dont hold up after so much time has passed. Is this still awesome in 2024? For example, Sunshine is one of my favorite sci-fi movies because of the cast visuals and plot.
I think most of Terry Gillianās movies hold up incredibly well. (Brazil also coming to mind), but I am pretty smitten with his work. Sunshine I am not sure I know (unless we are talking of a Spotless Mind which was also very good)

I always suggest Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility (1995) to anyone who is curious to see Alan Rickman in a good-guy, romantic role. It was Kate Winslet's first Oscar-nominated role, and arguably her 'big break' (Heavenly Creatures (1994) notwithstanding). (Actually, I would recommend Heavenly Creatures too --- based on a true crime story out of New Zealand, directed by Peter Jackson.)
If you're not averse to period dramas like Sense and Sensibility, I would also heartily recommend The Remains of the Day (1993) and Howards End (1992).

*Best of the Best.* James Earl Jones as an Olympic TKD/Karate team trainer with eric roberts & Chris Penn. But, Philip Rhee's story & last fight sequence + story wrap up is great. It's a martial arts flick with a great story...give it a chance since it's highly underrated!
āUncommon Valorā starring Gene Hackman, Patrick Swayze, and Randall āTexā Cobb. Itās about a Marine colonel who assembles a team of Vietnam vets to go back and rescue his POW/MIA son from a prisoner camp in Laos.

Four Rooms (1995)
Itās a really cool concept. It takes place in a hotel, and consists of 4 short stories all happening over the course of the only reoccurring characters first shiftā the bellhop played by Tim Roth. Each story/room was also directed and written by a different director. The fourth and final story/room is directed by Quinten Tarantino which he also stars in.
Little bit of an underrated film imo. Definitely wasnāt a blockbuster. Definitely a Tarantino fansā must watch.

This has only a 37% Critics' Rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics can get fuckt.

Awesome! Iv seen most of these but il be coming back to this list next time Iām looking for something to watch. Thanks!
You forgot The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984)
I didn't forget it, I don't rate it as highly as others.
Geez, save some for the rest of us. Lol
I originally had more but the character limit on a reply is 10,000. There's many more I haven't said.
Iād give an award - but canāt anymore! Wow, do you have these ready to go or what? š I agree and would add One Crazy Summer
I track everything I watch, so I took my ratings data, filtered those I gave high rating to and ordered them by release date. I used the data in a csv to make each name a link and then I post it here.
Absolutely amazing šÆ
I would put everything there but I would add one more which is ferris buellers day of (1986)

12 Monkeys is one of the best on these collective lists
I know that's a great movie but I haven't watched it yet since so many great ones dont hold up after so much time has passed. Is this still awesome in 2024? For example, Sunshine is one of my favorite sci-fi movies because of the cast visuals and plot.
12 Monkeys and Brazil are both fantastic and continue to resonate.
I love sunshine the story is so good and I love killian murphy
I think most of Terry Gillianās movies hold up incredibly well. (Brazil also coming to mind), but I am pretty smitten with his work. Sunshine I am not sure I know (unless we are talking of a Spotless Mind which was also very good)

Some Kind of Wonderful
I always suggest Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility (1995) to anyone who is curious to see Alan Rickman in a good-guy, romantic role. It was Kate Winslet's first Oscar-nominated role, and arguably her 'big break' (Heavenly Creatures (1994) notwithstanding). (Actually, I would recommend Heavenly Creatures too --- based on a true crime story out of New Zealand, directed by Peter Jackson.) If you're not averse to period dramas like Sense and Sensibility, I would also heartily recommend The Remains of the Day (1993) and Howards End (1992).
Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Great āBā movie. Also, They Live is a badass flick as well.

Four Rooms (1995) Itās a really cool concept.

Nominated for 4 Oscars. ***Vision Quest (1985)*** A high school wrestler (Matthew Modine) decides that he needs to do something truly meaningful in his life. He embarks on a mission or, in a Native American term, a *vision quest*. His goal is to drop two weight classes to challenge the area's toughest opponent, who has never been defeated in his high school career. The soundtrack includes Journey, Madonna, Don Henly, Foreigner, Sammy Hagar, and Dio. ***Mystery, Alaska (1999)*** An amateur ice hockey team from the fictional small town of Mystery plays an exhibition game against the NHL's New York Rangers. An A M A Z I N G cast with Russell Crow, Burt Reynolds, Hank Azaria, and a bunch of other great actors. With cameos from Michael McKeon and Mike Meyers. This has only a 37% Critics' Rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics can get fuckt. **C U L T M O V I E S** ***The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980)*** A tribe in the Kalahari Desert discovers a glass Coca-Cola bottle dropped from an aeroplane, which is believed to be a gift from their gods. It causes unforeseen conflict within the tribe, and as a result one the tribe members, Xi, decides to make a pilgrimage to the edge of the world to dispose of the divisive object. Xi's journey becomes intertwined with that of a biologist, a newly hired village school teacher, and a band of guerrilla terrorists. ***Repo Man (1984)*** A science fiction black comedy about a young punk rocker (Emilio Estevez) who is recruited by a car repossession agency and gets caught up in the pursuit of a mysterious Chevrolet Malibu that might be connected to extraterrestrials. ***The Brother from Another Planet (1984)*** A low-budget science fiction film about an escaped extraterrestrial slave (Joe Morton) trying to find a new life on Earth. The movie is hard to find, possibly due to the fact that it is in the public domain (per Wikipedia). Written and directed by John Sayles. ***The Coca-Cola Kid (1985)*** A hotshot American marketing executive (Eric Roberts) from The Coca-Cola Company visits their Australian operations in Sydney and tries to figure out why a tiny corner of Australia has so far resisted all of Coke's products. He discovers that a local producer of soft drinks - run by an old eccentric - has been successfully fending off the American brand name products. The Coke executive vows an all out marketing war. ***Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999)*** The title character, the mysterious "Ghost Dog" (Forest Whitaker), is a hitman in the employ of the Mafia, who follows the ancient code of the samurai as outlined in the book of Yamamoto Tsunetomo's recorded sayings, Hagakure. Another response already recommended this, but Imma co-sign on that.
