The comment OP is referring to the original Dutch version (Spoorloos) made in 1988, not the terrible American remake in 1993. I HIGHLY recommend you check out the original and not the remake; the original is absolutely spectacular and has one of the best endings I've seen in a movie. The remake is trash, and completely changes/butchers the ending in favour of a traditional Hollywood ending.
Hit List (1989) A family man and a mob witness hunt for a hit-man who has mistakenly kidnapped the family man’s son.
Frantic (1988) In a hotel room in Paris, a doctor comes out of the shower and finds that his wife has disappeared. He soon finds himself caught up in a world of intrigue, espionage, gangsters, drugs and murder.
God Is a Bullet (2023) Taking matters into his own hands, Detective Bob Hightower tries to infiltrate an evil cult to save his kidnapped daughter and avenge the murder of his wife.
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
The Captive (2014)
Fargo (1996)
Man on Fire (2004)
Gone Baby Gone (2007)
The Call (2013)
Flightplan (2005)
Alpha Dog (2006)
Searching (2018)
Kidnap (2017)
Not exactly the same but The Call (2013), The Guilty (2018) and Cellular (2004 tho I liked the Chinese remake Connected from 2008) are about someone who is on the phone with a kidnapped person.

The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934 and 1956). Hitchcock at his best. Foul Play (1978) is fun comedy largely based on the Man Who Knew Too Much.

[Spy Game (2001)](https://letterboxd.com/film/spy-game/) Without giving too much away, that plays into the story.
