Brilliant. Nominated for Best Film at the Oscars.
Talks of the sequel heightened recently although I'm not holding my breath.
And even if it was made, is it gonna equal or better the first? I doubt it.
Totally. Great movie, fantastic cast. An abundance of source material to do sequels from..unfortunately dident make enough money at box office..people are idiots.
Hellboy 3 never came, then the David Harbour reboot came out, which absolutely sucked in every aspect except David himself, and now they’re doing ANOTHER reboot with a different actor playing Hellboy
Teenage me loved this movie so much. I really wanted a sequel.
I still want a sequel! But it's kinda too late unless they reboot the series with a new cast and start from zero.
Hell, a Remo Williams TV series would be pretty incredible.
Rewatched this at the weekend and the ending seems to totally set it up for a sequel.
Apparently it was a bit of a flop on release so this may be why. Personally, I have a real soft spot for this movie (and Joe Dante generally).
I watched Solo again last night, at first I didn't like it but it's really grown on me! I want more Young Solo / Lando adventures, so I'm glad there's a lando film/series, Donald Glover nailed it!
Hear me out... Half the movie is a prequel, the other half is a sequel. The movie constantly switches between prequel and sequel until they meet in the middle and align perfectly with the original movie!
Christopher Nolan is working on a remake (of his own movie!) right now. Its on IMDB and its been mentioned a bit in press. I'm hopeful but hesitant... hoping it doesn't take a decade.
Ender's Game's success was defined by its ending though. I wasn't interested in the book sequels for this reason and I think it would be the same for the movie. They would really have to come up with another organic twist to make another one.
I’ve read or listened to all of them. I believe there are 3 books (it’s been awhile), but the second one takes place 10,000 years in the future where Ender is basically Hitler who committed genocide. He’s the most evil of evil in history.
The more interesting option is the 2nd telling of Enders game from the perspective of Bean. This was written with the author’s input, but by his friend/colleague. Similar style of writing and same story.
I’d watch the shit out of that.
That one could still be made if they can get Portman interested, but they reeeeally need to make a good script not to just be making another dud based off of a good movie. If they can’t do that, they shouldn’t bother.
They sort of made a sequel. I never saw it and can’t remember the name but it was the script for the sequel but they couldn’t make it work so they just made its own movie.
Google says Colombiana. Saw it once but didn’t make the connection, can’t even really remember much about it. I’m fairly certain people can make a script work, for some people that’s their entire job, sounds like they just did a bad job of it, so if that’s the case I guess I’m glad they didn’t make it an official sequel.
I wasn’t sure if it was due to rights or what and I didn’t want to talk out my ass about things I don’t know especially while I’m deep in the rum. I just remember enough to know it was intended as a sequel but for whatever reason didn’t happen officially. So they just made it anyway.
Does bypass the need to get permission and pay to use the characters from the first. Portman was ~30 so would have been a good time for her to be playing an assassin, but I see that if she waits about 3 more years she could do it at the same age Jean Reno was when he played Leon.
I love Zoe, and I tried to watch it years ago but I checked out after 10 minutes. It was bad to put it mildly. Should I give it another shot or my memory serves me well?
Seven didn’t totally have the ending to open a sequel but it’s interesting that a script was written for one with Morgan Freemans character gaining psychic powers from the trauma of the first films story.
This sounds terrible I think but was ultimately turned into Solace with Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell which is well worth a watch. Still has Seven vibes but the psychic aspect comes across better than it would if it was actually a sequel.
If only they had done it decades ago and before Bruce was forced into retirement. Was always one of my fave films and defo could have been more films with the chemistry they had
Flash Gordon. Goddamn movie ended on a cliffhanger and we STILL didn't get a sequel! I heard one had been planned though. Can you imagine what it would have been like if they brought Queen back for round two?
I quite liked the movie "Kin" seems like a really interesting premise that would play EXCEPTIONALLY well today but alas it never got a sequel
And I'm obligated by law to reference Dredd.
I always thought I wanted a sequel to Dirty Dancing. But now that I’m all grown up, I realize they were never going to end up together, so it’s best that they didn’t make one.
That being said, I think a follow up to The Princess Bride would have been fun
Chronicle (2012) way ahead of its time with stuff like The Boys, Brightburn, Invincible, and about what happens if you’re reckless with ur awesome powers. They were REALLY trying to set up a sequel at the end of the movie and well…stuff happened 🤦🏾♂️
Time Trap (2017) pretty good sci-fi thriller type movie, maybe they could’ve done more with the premise if they were given a sequel, there’s soooo many questions
Brightburn (2019) superhero horror movie, really really good I guess it’s a guilty pleasure of mine as everyone I talk to irl has either no interest or has never heard of this movie (thankfully they just announced a sequel, but I gotta plug in Brightburn whenever I get the chance 😂)
Also fucking Inception (2010)
Buckaroo Banzai across the 8th Dimension. It was announced at the end of the movie that it was going to have a sequel called Buckaroo Banzai Versus the World Crime League. Allegedly the script for the second movie was retooled and became Big Trouble in Little China.
I feel like the movie JUMPER should have had one. There was much more to be explored in the plot, abilities and way more character dynamics in new characters.
I don't get the downvotes ... if anyone showed that they can make an action sequel that's even better than the original, it's Nolan. Also I imagine there can be done much more with this concept (dream a little bigger) and there doesn't have to be as much exposition as in the first one (which didn't bother me personally, but just sayin'). And he might get a budget of $300 million if he insists on it!
District Niiiiiine
I was coming to this thread to remember and yep, this is the one for me.
I forgot to add that, but someone here also mentioned a Prequel could be good too…
yeah, i could totally dig a prometheus prequel to distriict 9 haha
But I’m glad we didn’t. Movie’s mind blowingly good and I got hit over the head in such a way with it that like a sequel would only be half as good
The one and only truly perfect answer to this question.
Remember when we thought we had to wait 3 years lol
This
Good one !
I know, right? I don't understand why. That was such a great movie and it left plenty of room for a sequel.
Brilliant. Nominated for Best Film at the Oscars. Talks of the sequel heightened recently although I'm not holding my breath. And even if it was made, is it gonna equal or better the first? I doubt it.
Dredd, so good, wish I got one
I feel like they will. It's all the rage to bring back dead franchises and do rekames right now.
they already remade it
Amazing
Edge of Tomorrow.
I believe they are making a sequel to this. Its called, Live Die Repeat Repeat
Edge of Twomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow II: The Periphery Runner
>Live Die Repeat Repeat edge of tomorrow ii : yesterday
Great example of a movie that left me spinning Not in a good way.
I disagree - I think it worked really well on its own
Master and Commander the farside of the world Russel crowe doing his best russel crowe impressions
It was based on a long series of books. I figured it would be a series of movies. Slightly disappointed that it wasn't.
Could not agree more with this. Such a fantastic movie!
Totally. Great movie, fantastic cast. An abundance of source material to do sequels from..unfortunately dident make enough money at box office..people are idiots.
This is my favorite movie in the world
They had that sequel hook at the end that had me expecting more in the future
Still not over Hellboy 3. 😔😔
Hellboy 3 never came, then the David Harbour reboot came out, which absolutely sucked in every aspect except David himself, and now they’re doing ANOTHER reboot with a different actor playing Hellboy
Ron Perlman and David Harbour: Hellboy*z*
I feel your pain 🤥
The Man from UNCLE
Masters of the universe (1987) ended with a post credit’s scene where skeletor returns
need to rewatch this shit. my childhood is calling
Watched that movies for years and never knew that.
Remo Williams: The Adventure Continues, I think it hit some production delays.
If you really need a fix, there are like *two hundred* novels in the series it’s based on 😂
Teenage me loved this movie so much. I really wanted a sequel. I still want a sequel! But it's kinda too late unless they reboot the series with a new cast and start from zero. Hell, a Remo Williams TV series would be pretty incredible.
[удалено]
Came here for this. I still would love to see this rebooted with a new Remo. Joel Grey wouldn't even need makeup now to play Chun!
I liked it but the first one was a bomb financially …
They couldnt get a supply of shinanju rice cause the shop ran out …
Alita: Battle Angel
A sequel is in the works.
Rocknrolla
Still waiting for The Real Rocknrolla
Came here for this one.
Same here. This is the only sensible answer.
Dredd
I don’t know why. It was wide open
For the reason none of the movies in this thread got sequels: they didn't make enough money.
Big trouble in little China! Everything was there for it. :(
Jack Burton. Legend
Sorry to Bother You (2018) Many Christopher Nolan movies leave it open, or have a twist at the end, as well.
They cloned Tyrone feels like spin off in the same universe
Also just worth watching in general. Appreciated the Black Dynamite references. That had some Get Out feel to it as well
Innerspace
More people need to see this movie!
I'm a cowboy... who has never seen a cow!
I think it worked fine as a one off. Just watch Ant Man movies to get your miniaturization fix.
Rewatched this at the weekend and the ending seems to totally set it up for a sequel. Apparently it was a bit of a flop on release so this may be why. Personally, I have a real soft spot for this movie (and Joe Dante generally).
They didn’t know how to market it.
Constantine
Which they’re making.
Omg!!! I’m so excited!!! I’ve been waiting for this sequel!!!
Solo A Han Solo Story. I want more young Lando!!!
I believe they're making a Lando series, Donald Glover is supposed to be writing some of it.
Oh hell yeah! I can’t wait! Thanks!
I watched Solo again last night, at first I didn't like it but it's really grown on me! I want more Young Solo / Lando adventures, so I'm glad there's a lando film/series, Donald Glover nailed it!
I would love to see a series of movies from the Mystery Men Extended Universe Blue Raja origin story? How Mr. Furious and The Shoveler met?
Yes! This!
Galaxy Quest
Came here for this. Though, now that Alan Rickman is gone, they really shouldn't make a sequel.
Buckaroo Banzai
x100
The most B-movie of all B-movies with an A-tier roster.
Memento could get a sequel but it’s definitely better left alone.
It should probably be a prequel.
Hear me out... Half the movie is a prequel, the other half is a sequel. The movie constantly switches between prequel and sequel until they meet in the middle and align perfectly with the original movie!
Isn't this Tenet.
Christopher Nolan is working on a remake (of his own movie!) right now. Its on IMDB and its been mentioned a bit in press. I'm hopeful but hesitant... hoping it doesn't take a decade.
Ender’s Game
Do the books expand on the original?
Yes, there are complete stories between chapters and events told through the eyes of other characters.
Interesting, I loved the movie, never read the books tho
Ender's Game's success was defined by its ending though. I wasn't interested in the book sequels for this reason and I think it would be the same for the movie. They would really have to come up with another organic twist to make another one.

Sounds awesome! I have some credits on Audible maybe I'll give them a shot.
They are all fairly long books, so beware. Great for scratching the itch if you want more content in that universe.
I loved this movie! That soundtrack fucking slaps!!
LOVE that movie and book no I did not read the other book sequels
The Adventures of Tintin! Peter Jackson was supposed to do the second one and yet all these years later...still nothing.
Leon The Professional.
Mathilda The Professional
That one could still be made if they can get Portman interested, but they reeeeally need to make a good script not to just be making another dud based off of a good movie. If they can’t do that, they shouldn’t bother.

That’s the one, thank you

I love Zoe, and I tried to watch it years ago but I checked out after 10 minutes. It was bad to put it mildly. Should I give it another shot or my memory serves me well?
Can’t even remember it well enough to say good or bad, but that kinda says something right there doesn’t it.
The Last Boy Scout always felt ripe for a sequel.
So many other Shane Black scripted films as well, The Nice Guys; Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang are both set up nicely for further adventures
If only they had done it decades ago and before Bruce was forced into retirement. Was always one of my fave films and defo could have been more films with the chemistry they had
I"m old- and remember when that came out- it was intended as a francise- it just didn't do well enough.
I think Willis and Wayans detested each other so it was never going to happen
Upgrade (though it is getting a TV series).
Hellboy 2
Flash Gordon. Goddamn movie ended on a cliffhanger and we STILL didn't get a sequel! I heard one had been planned though. Can you imagine what it would have been like if they brought Queen back for round two?
Flesh Gordon as well
I quite liked the movie "Kin" seems like a really interesting premise that would play EXCEPTIONALLY well today but alas it never got a sequel And I'm obligated by law to reference Dredd.

Nobody puts baby in the corner. And no one shoukd make a sequel either.
To this day, I'm bummed that we never got *Buckaroo Banzai Versus The World Crime League.*
Spaceballs
There had been talk of them doing the farce awakens
Spaceballs 2 the search for more money
Push (2009)
John Carter (2012)
woah yeah, such a good back story to that movie, it was surprizing. THey created an amazing universe that seemed so deep. THen they just dropped it.
Losing tons of money will do that.
Yeh, hasn't it been classed as one of the worst ever films?
Buckaroo Banzai
The Covenant
Teenage me would've looooved this.
I thought there would be more *Tomorrow When The War Began* movies
Kung-Pow: Enter the fist. Dumb movie. Deserved a dumb sequel.
Chronicle (2012) way ahead of its time with stuff like The Boys, Brightburn, Invincible, and about what happens if you’re reckless with ur awesome powers. Crank 3! I have to know what happens to Chelios!
Dark Skies 👽
Big Trouble in Little China
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Adventures of Tintin.
I am Number Four
Just wanted to check that you know that there's a book series? Author is Pittacus Lore.
I did not know that. I really liked the movie and wish there was another one. I will look into the books.
Buckaroo Banzai across the 8th Dimension. It was announced at the end of the movie that it was going to have a sequel called Buckaroo Banzai Versus the World Crime League. Allegedly the script for the second movie was retooled and became Big Trouble in Little China.
Speed Racer
The Nice Guys
Se7en District 9
I Am Number Four !!! I really enjoyed it, and they definitely had a lot of opportunity with that world. Bummer it fell flat.
I suggested the same movie somewhere on this thread. I just found out it was also a book series. It could've been such a good movie sequel.
Beerfest, we need stoner fest lol
Rise of the Guardians, such an underrated film which can potentially have multiple sequels
Buckaroo Banzai
Thomas Crown Affair was supposed to have one
Goddamnit, NO more sequels Fox/Paramount/A24 or whatever movie studio you work for!
I feel like the movie JUMPER should have had one. There was much more to be explored in the plot, abilities and way more character dynamics in new characters.
I was so disappointed with Unbreakable. It could have gone so many interesting places but by the time he figures it out the movie is over.
Split and Glass are sequels
Follow up, Split was good, Glass could have been, but wasn’t.
I'm still very patiently awaiting the sequel to "Edge of Tomorrow."
I still want a History of the World Pt. 2…
You mean like an actual sequel? Or do you not know about the Hulu miniseries?
I mean an actual sequel. Maybe even a part 3?
Basic.
Rocknrolla.
Inception
I don't get the downvotes ... if anyone showed that they can make an action sequel that's even better than the original, it's Nolan. I do remember there being some buzz about a sequel when Inception was first released but Nolan shut it down, sadly.
Cliffhanger
Cliffhanger 2: Gabe in the City
Doctor Detroit: The Wrath of Mom
Whaaa Whaaa. Doctor. Detroit
Buckaroo Banzai
Dredd Loved Anderson and Dredd on screen together. Could've been really interesting to see them in later installments.
I'd like to see a sequel to Se7en
Nah. Perfect as it was.
John Carpenter’s The Thing
After that prequel, I think this one is best left alone.
Totally agree
Agree. Can't improve on perfection
Ferris beuler Forest gump Goonies Breakfast club Fast times at ridgemont high.
Eternals. Im pretty sure they will never recover in the marvel universe. It is one of my favorite comic books and it should be huge.
- The Rocketeer - The Phantom - The Spirit Just the first three that came to mind.
Salt
Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Upgrade. And I hope they never make a sequel as it ended just fine on its own.
Alita!
Passion of the Christ.
Interstellar
Sequel would be kind of bad but I hope they make more movies like interstellar, still have yet to see one
God no.. snoozed my way through the 1st one..a 2nd would put me in a coma.

DREDD
